Cats With The Zoomies

Cats With The Zoomies

My Black Cat Milton

Miton has the zoomies quite often. He will fly around the room lickety-split, then run out of breath, and his heart rate will go up considerably. Sometimes he will go around in circles trying to catch his long tail, which never works, of course. He loves to run up and down the steps in the house at least three times in a row until he collapses on the floor. He repeats the whole process in the evening. He will get the zoomies when playing with his toys, tossing them into the air and zipping after them.

My Friends Cat Moe

He is a fluffy, long-haired, cream-colored cat with a soft-sounding meow. He will fly up and down the steps with his large toys that he loves deeply. He will lie on them and pounce. He loves to fly up and down the steps and will chase after toys that are thrown in his direction.

My Tuxedo Cat Jasmine

Jassmine is like a gymnastics genius. She will leap from tower to tower without ever missing a beat. She also loves to jump up high onto the cat hammocks, boxes, and beds. She can toss her toys very high in the air and catch them in mid-flight.

My Cat Winchester

He gets the zoomies every morning before I feed my cats their morning meal of weight-loss formula cat food. He is not patient whatsoever. He will start swatting at my other cats as he has a temper in the morning. He will run into them on purpose and start swatting at them or trying to initiate a fight. Once he gets his breakfast, his temper cools down, and his zoomies stop.

My Cat Tigress

She will run around the house at any time of day, then hide behind the stove for a while, then go to the back room and zoom right past me and back into the living room again. She has a lot of energy and seems to be on the move quite often.

My Cat Tammy

She knows when it is time for her to go to the Vet for her shots, and she is running at full throttle through the house, darting past me and hiding in different places, hoping I will not be able to locate her. I found her on top of a cupboard in the kitchen. She finally came down, and, amazingly, we made it to the Vet on time.

My Three Cat Brothers: Mr. Gray, Sherlock, and Hilford

They will run through the house and have a total case of the zoomies when it is time for their yearly Vet checkup.  They will hide in a kitchen cupboard, or all of them will hide in a heated, large cat building, or the back of the kitchen cupboard area, squeezing close together, making it almost impossible to catch them. I finally got them caught after running back and forth through the house for at least 30 minutes. I did make it to the Vet on time.

Cat Toys That Cats Do Not Like

Cats Toys That Cats Do Not Like

Toys That Make Too Much Noise

Some cat toys make too much noise, scaring your cat away. I have had battery-operated ones that scared my cats so much that they never came near that cat toy again. The cat toys I have had the most problems with are the ones that show up as pop-ups on websites. They are made poorly, and the sound boards must be defective. I stopped ordering from pop-up sites and only buy from trusted cat and pet supply companies. By purchasing from a trusted company, you can return the item and receive a full refund. If you buy from a pop-up site, the postage cost is more than the item is worth, leaving you stuck with a defective cat toy that you will most likely put in the garbage.

Cat Toys That Are Too Big

All of my cats enjoy playing with smaller cat toys. If you give them a large plush toy, it will just sit there, never played with. They do not like playing with large balls or soft plastic toys.

Cat Wheel

Only two of my cats have used my cat wheel. Two cats did not need to lose any weight whatsoever, but they are the two that like my cat wheel. The ones that should use it will not go near it, even though I have enticed them with catnip and cat treats.

Hard Plastic Cat Toys

If the cat toy is too hard or too large, they will avoid going near it. My cats do like to play with small plastic bugs that are too large for them to swallow. I think they don’t like that they cannot bite into it or carry it around easily.

Crinkle Cat Toys

Once a crinkle cat toys get smashed or out of shape, my cats stop playing with it. Cats like things to move around quickly when they bat at them, and if the cat toy is out of shape, you might as well get them a new one.

Cat Toys Do Wear Out, And You Must Replace Them

Catnip tooth-cleaning toys get dirty and gross, so replace them often. If a toy is missing an eye or tail, throw it away. We wouldn’t want to use a dirty toothbrush, and our cats also prefer clean items. It is not safe to let your cat play with a cat toy that is falling apart, even if it is their favorite. I try to buy them a new toy like the one they’ve worn out, and eventually, they will get used to it. I know it will take some time, but they will ultimately play with the replacement after some time has passed. If you cannot wash your cat toys and they are gross, get rid of them ASAP. We all want our cats to be happy, healthy, and content, so we must give them sanitary toys to play with.

Things To Think About When Buying Items For Your Cat

Things To Think About When Buying Items For Your Cat

What Is The Product Made Of?

I want to buy a quality item for my cat that will not harm them. If you purchase cat toys, make sure there are no parts that can be chewed off so that your cat cannot ingest them. Some cats have had bowel blockage or suffocated to death on some cat toys, such as eyes, tails, or ears that they have swallowed. If the product is not a brand-name item, I generally do not buy it because I do not know what it is filled with that may be poisonous to my cat if the cat toy falls apart.

Cat Beds

When buying a cat bed, ensure that it is stuffed with the right materials, as I once saw one that had attic insulation in it. Some cat beds have been recalled due to problems with the materials used in their construction, such as the fabric containing harmful chemicals.

Cat Trees

I like the solid wood cat trees as they hold up longer. Ensure that your cat tree can be attached to the wall to prevent it from tipping over and injuring your cat. Never buy a cat tree that will not support the weight of your cats, as they will generally say how heavy a cat can lounge or sleep in it safely. Some cat trees have a powerful smell of carpet glue, so let them air out in another room before you let your cat use them. The cheaper cat trees do not support the top perches for long, as they tend to fall off.

Heated Cat Beds

Do not cut corners on a cheap heated cat bed, as it could catch on fire or wear out quickly. My favorite brand is K@H products, heated cat beds, and windowsill perches. I have one that is still going strong after 10 years of use, and another one just wore out after eight years of use. My cats love them in the cold winter months, as they are getting older, and it feels good on their joints.

Cat Food

I have fed my cats Purina cat food for years, and it is a good-quality cat food. I do not like cat foods that have fillers or byproducts or a high ash content, as these are bad for your cat’s lifespan. Hartz Delaectables Squese Ups have no byproducts and are made from salmon, chicken, or tuna, shrimp, and vegetables. Pumpkin cat food is suitable for a cat if they happen to get diarrhea. I like Natural cat treats and not the moist ones that sometimes have a high ash content.

Cat Litter

Never buy cat litter that is perfumed or has an air freshener scent. A cat can get very sick from using this kind of kitty litter and may also stop using their litterbox altogether. When they lick their paws, they ingest those chemicals into their body and develop diarrhea or get short of breath, and some cats have died from using perfumed litters. If you have doubts about any product you intend to buy for your cat, research it online and see if it has been recalled or harmed a cat in any way. Better to be safe than sorry than lose your Dear feline friend.

Milton

Milton

Adopting A Young Cat

I just adopted Milton. He is a young black cat with a little bit of white on his belly. On the ride home, he unlatched his cage door and joined my friend and me in the front of the vehicle. He liked to look at the cars driving past us. We put him back in his cage, and we bought some of the ham out of our omelets, and he had eaten all of it by the time we got him home. He was very vocal, with a wide range of cat vocal sounds. He is gentle and seems to get along well with Garfunkel and Cali. I left him in the cage in my basement for a while so my cats could smell him. When I let him lose, I placed him in the litterbox and showed him the food and water bowls again.

Entering The Kitchen Through The Cat Door

He explored the main floor and just walked by my cats, and they did the same. He looked at my cats on the bed and then at the cat hammock/scratching post. Later, he found a cat teeth-cleaning toy and played and played with that. He then proceeded to take a catnap in front of the heat register. Milton enjoyed bird-watching 101, looking out the picture window at the various birds and squirrels. He is now watching me type this post about him.

Milton And His Sleeping Areas

He loves to sleep on top of recliners and in the seat. He has also fallen soundly asleep in the cat hammocks. Once in a while, he places a toy in the hammock with him, and then when he wakes up, he chews away on his teeth, cleaning catnip pickle or what looks like a small bone. He jumped on my bed toward morning and fell asleep for about one hour before getting up. After bird watching, he stretches out and sleeps next to the picture window.

How My Cats Got Along Today

Cali hisses at him, and today, Milton growls back at her. Cali finally walks away. Cali is part Siamese, and I guess she cannot help herself, as Siamese tend to be moody. Garfunkel also hisses at him, and he growls at him. Milton never tries to strike at them. On the whole, they get along fine. Everyone is trying to find their place on the totem pole. Cali has to be number one, as Siamese must be number one in any household.

Milton Is Establishing A Daily Routine

He loves to eat cat treats infused with catnip. Today, he discovered that he likes Hartz Delectables squeeze-ups. He also loves to sleep in my bed for a while, then in the cat hammock and the recliner. He discovered how to open the sliding door upstairs, and I  found him on a large cat bed basking in the morning sun shining on the cat bed. He just discovered the cat warming blanket on the couch and is relaxed. He goes to the basement to eat his cat food, drink water, and use the litterbox. Milton is an excellent addition to my housecat family.

What My Cats Want For Christmas

What My Cats Want For Christmas

Cat Toys And Cat Trees

My cats love cat trees. They love to sleep up high so they can keep watch on animals outdoors and the other cats in my house. Cats love to sleep from a high vantage point out in the wild and indoors, as they can spot prey or potential danger. I like a very sturdy cat tree; otherwise, the support for the bed will fall off, and you will have to repair it or replace the cat tree. I try to buy cat toys with catnip, as they are a favorite for most cats. I purchased a new cat massager for my cats, and they love to rub their face, checks, and under their chin on it. Cat hammocks are a must-have for my cats as they love to sleep in the hammock curled up in a tight little ball and keep warmer that way.

Heated Beds

My cats love the heated windowsill cat beds and the round ones on the ground. I have had one wicker plastic model that has lasted ten years and counting. My outdoor K&H heated cat beds last at least ten years before they wear out. Buy a top-quality heated bed, as it will last for many years. Wait for sale prices before buying a heated bed. I generally buy my heated cat beds in the middle of the summer for about 50% off the original price. My cats do not like heated beds that have a cover over them unless it has a roof. Sometimes, three to five cats may come out of a heated cat building in the middle of the winter.

A Heater Or Furnace For Your Cats

If you have cats in your home, they are most likely toasty and warm with your furnace. If your cats live in another building, have an infrared heater in it, or consider putting a furnace in the building, as it will distribute the heat evenly. Ensure your building has lots of insulation in the walls and the attic, as it will save you money on your heat bills. Have warm and draft-free areas for your cats to sleep in at all times, as cats do not do well with any drafts that may hit them while they sleep and may develop a respiratory illness.

Cats Want To Be Happy And Healthy Everyday

Give your cat the gift of regular vet visits. Your vet may be able to prevent a disease from killing your cat because he caught it early by examining it in an annual physical. Keeping your cat’s shots up to date may save his life and prevent your cats from sharing their illnesses with your other household cats if everyone has their shots current.

Cat Food And Treats

Buy grain-free and non-GMO cat food without byproducts or fillers, as you are what you eat. Try to buy dye-free cat food and canned food without ash. Cats love freeze-dried cat treats. If your cat does not like a particular brand of food, throw it away; your cat knows what is best for him because of how he feels after he eats it. Buy the best cat food that you can afford for your feline friend. I hope everyone’s dreams come true this Christmas and their feline friends live all of their nine lives to their fullest potential. God, thank you for all of our blessings, as we would be nothing without you. Praise be to God.

Buying Cat Equipment

Buying Cat Equipment

Cat Beds

Cats love to curl up in cat beds. Some of my cats want to sleep in a giant cat bed, so they have plenty of room to stretch out during the night, and others like to sleep in a small bed curled up in a tight little ball. You can purchase ones that can be washed, or you have to spot-clean. Some cats want to mark their bed beyond washing unless you buy a special order remover. I wrap my cat’s beds in plastic garbage bags and place a towel on top of the bed, and that way, all you have to do is replace the bags and the towel instead of buying new cat beds. This does not seem to happen unless you have more than three cats.

Cat Towers

All of my cats love cat towers or hammocks. They love to sleep up high and watch for birds or keep a bird’ s-eye view of you. The cats that sleep the highest up seem to have a top place in the hierarchy of the cat pecking order. Peter and Winchester seem to hold that position. Once in a while, Faith will be sleeping up high. Cat towers raise your cat so drafts or cold air from the floor will not affect them. Cat towers are pretty easy to vacuum off or clean any stains off. I buy my cat towers from Chewy.com.

Cat Litter Boxes

For an automatic litter box, I prefer Litter Robot 3. It seems to last a long time, and the company will put a new motor in it after three years for a small charge if it stops working. My cats love using them, and they have never had an accident. I also have several old-fashioned litter boxes that my cats can use. Clean your litter boxes with a solution for cleaning at least three times a year for the automatic models and, more often, for the old-style models. Make sure your cat can quickly enter and exit the litter box. If your cat becomes arthritic, you may need a lower litter box and one on the first level of your home.

Grooming Tools

I buy good-quality grooming tools for my cats. I generally buy them from Amazon or Chewy.com. I check their ratings and purchase stainless steel or surgical-grade tools. I buy cat combs, brushes, nail trimmers, detanglers, gloves, and more. Wash your equipment if possible to keep it sanitary.

Cat Toys

Cats love toys they can interact with, including those that make a noise, like a singing bird or a crinkle toy. Catnip toys are a must for all cats, and circle game toys tend to be a hit with all cats. My cats love catnip mice, tiny baby stuffed animals, and toys on the end of a string. The cart treat balls are a fun way for your cat to simultaneously eat treats and lose weight. Your cat can move the treat ball around until a wonderful treat rolls out for them to eat quickly. Buy top-quality cat equipment, which will last longer.

Cats That Are Happy

Cats That Are Happy

Cats Purr A Lot When They Are Happy

When my cats sit on my lap and purr away or lie next to me while I sleep, and they keep purring, I know that they are content and pleased. Cats purr when they receive new cat toys that they like or if they just received a lovely new heated cat bed. One of my cats with asthma loves to sleep in a heated bed; I think it helps his asthma to have lots of heat on his body. The minute I opened the door next door, 6 of my cats met me at the door, started purring away, and waited to be the first one to get my attention. My cats love to follow me, which usually pays off as they receive a pet treat.

The Great Outdoors

In the summer and early fall, my cats purr in their outdoor cat playpen, which is up high and next to my house. When some of my cats want to go outdoors, I follow them everywhere they go so no harm will come to them. You never know what animal could attack them if you left them unattended. Cats love to look at birds and watch the squirrels. I have a squirrel that comes next to my house every day at the same time, and he looks at the cats and watches TV for a while before he scampers away.

One On One Time With Your Cat

Cats vie to be the center of attention, and when you have a toy on a string filled with catnip and play with them, they are pleased indeed. Cats love to have you throw a toy mouse or singing bird in their direction. They will toss the toy around in the air and sometimes bring it back to you so you can toss it to them again. Cats get jealous quickly if you do not share the attention equally. My cats take turns sitting on my lap, which works well for us all.

Grooming Your Cat

My cats love to be combed out. Conrad will purr away loudly when I goom him with a special cat brush. Cali will arch up her back as if to say do not miss this part of my back. Mr. Gray, Faith, Hilford, Winchester, Addi, and Lizzie loved to be combed out with a cat brush. Addi would like it if I combed her out all day along with Faith. Grooming relaxes your cat and makes their coat nice, bright, and shiny at the same time.

Cats That Are Well Cared For Our Very Happy Cats

Anyone well cared for is happy and content, and so is your feline friend. Vet care keeps your cat in tip-top condition. If any disease or illness is treated quickly enough, it could save your cat’s life. Make sure your cat has fresh water and wet food every day. Cats are happy when their litter box and bedding are clean. I hope you and your cats are happy and healthy for at least nine lives.

Cats Christmas Presents That They Love

Cat Christmas Presents That They Love

New Cat Toys

I purchased some cat tooth-cleaning toys for my cats that are filled with catnip for my cats. The toy’s exterior has little spots that stick up, which will help clean their teeth when they chew on the toy. I gave it to my cats early; they love it and will have pearly whites for Christmas. I purchased more catnip mice, singing birds, balls, and crinkle toys. My carts next door use their exercise wheel, and I see cat prints on it, and some of them have shed those unwanted pounds. All cats seem to love the circle ball toy. They bat the ball around the circle for some time before they rest.

New Litter Boxes

I purchased two Famree litter boxes, and my cats love them. The litter boxes tell me the weights of my cats and how long they were in the litter box. The waste is easy to remove as the plastic bag fits on top of the unit, and you pull out the old bag and place a new bag in it. I found an Elspet on the internet that was marked down in price considerably. I hope my cats will like it. I have a LitterMaid box that has been working perfectly for at least eight years, along with a PetSafe one. I have a couple of litter robots that lasted four years before I had to have them rebuilt.

Heated  Cat Beds And Cozy Beds Cats

Cats love heated beds and nice, plush, cozy beds to curl up in as the weather gets cold. I like the round or rectangle-shaped beds that are extra plush for my cats as they seem to be their favorite ones to curl up in. When the weather is quite cold, my cats next door go into their little heated buildings and snuggle up together. I have a round plastic bed in my house that Conrad and Cali love to sleep in. Garfunkel prefers the cozy rectangle bed. My cats next door have heated windowsill beds and boxes with soft towels. I have purchased new towels for them and also a new heated little building.

Hammocks With Scratching Post

I ordered three of these, and they already use two. They love these as they can curl up in the hammock in a little ball. The hammocks have little balls that hang down that your cat can bat around for entertainment.

Cat Towers

Cats love cat towers. I love the tall ones, as my cats can look out of the windows at the birds and anything that piques their interest in the great outdoors. Most cat towers have hammocks, scratching posts, and an area they can hide in.

GPS Tracker

I purchased two of these to put on any cat that wants outside for a while. Your cat can take off running even if you are watching and hide from you; with the GPS device, you should be able to find him quickly, and he will be glad you did, and so will you.

Cat Food And Treats

Buy your cat some of his favorite wet food, some cat treats, and maybe a cat treat ball or two.

Cat Computer Games

I put a cat game on my smartphone, and Cali and Garfunkel kept touching the mice, and they would vanish until a new mouse appeared. Put that app on your phone, and your cats will have a Merry Christmas or Birthday and keep playing that game.

What I Think My Cats Dream About

What I Think My Cats Dream About

Cat Food

I think they dream about food most of the time. One time, my cat woke up from a nap licking his lips. Cats believe they will starve if you forget to fill their food dish to the top. One of my cats kept sniffing the air after waking up from a nap. He could tell I had baked a piece of salmon in the oven, and he wanted to be my food tester. My cats love Hartz squeezable. My house cats love them tremendously. I think my cats dream about being able to get cat treats out of their treat ball dispenser. Cats are obsessed with catnip, and if you lay some down in the bed where they are sleeping, they wake up and start chewing away at the catnip. The catnip makes them roll around and act like a kitten full of energy. They dream about catching an excellent plump mouse for an afternoon snack.

Garfunkel Woke Up After He Had Been Running In His Dream

I assumed he was fighting another cat much larger than he was and running to get away from the gigantic cat that was after him. In his dream, his front legs were moving back and forth quickly. He may have been chasing a rodent, or a coyote was after him. When he woke up, he looked shocked but relieved.

Sleeping In A Cozy New Cat Bed

Cats dream about a new bed they may receive for a present. They will have a unique, plush, luxurious cat bed until another cat in the household tries to claim it. My cats especially love the heated cat beds I have purchased for them. They can curl up in the cozy bed in their old age, and the heat helps with any joint pain that they may have. Conrad loves the heated bed I have in the dining room, and Cali takes the one in the kitchen occasionally. Garfunkel likes the plush and cozy beds.

Warm Places

I am sure my cats think of warm places to take a nap. The blanket that you have on your couch is too tempting. They dream about kneading on it and curling up in the lovely, fluffy new blanket. Your winter coat is laid out on a chair. My Siamese cat got in the coat and had her head sticking out of a sleeve in the jacket. Cali has slept in front of the fireplace, purring away in her sleep. She also sleeps by the heat register in the dining room.

Having A Loving Owner

My cats love to sleep and dream away on my lap or bed. Cats dream about an owner who will look after their well-being and take them to the Vet when sick. Cats depend on their owner to be loving, kind, compassionate, and caring. My cats dream that they will get the perfect Christmas present this year. Our cats give us joy, and they love us dearly. Cats dream about their cat friends and their good times together. Dream only the best dreams possible, my Dear feline friends.

Cats And Playtime

Cats And Playtime

Cats That Want You To Interact With Them

Some cats will bring a sponge, rubber band, thread spool, or whatever they may find lying around in your home to you. Your cat wants you to throw the item in their direction, and they may bring it back to you to start the game again. One of my cats loved to get the Brillo pad my way, and I would toss it up in the air, and my cat would pounce on it with delight. Cats love to chase Laser lights. I pointed a laser light toward my ceiling and moved the light around the ceiling in that room, and my cat went wild, trying to keep up with that light. I would let my cat catch the laser light with his paws as I pointed it toward the floor now and then.

Cats That Play With Each Other

Some cats will catch and release mice. Once one cat lets it go, the other cat grabs it, and the game continues back and forth until one cat decides to have an appetizer. Once, a cat played that game with my pet dog, and my dog had the appetizer. Mother cats will catch and release the mouse so that their kittens may see it and eventually kill and eat the mice. I had one kitten that would let the mouse go right away, and the Mother cat was very patient with her kitten, and her kitten became an excellent mouser. Cats love to play with each other’s tails or clean and bite them too much for their liking.

Young Kittens Playing Outdoors In Mother Nature

Young kittens could play in a pile of leaves forever and never tire of it. I have witnessed young kittens pouncing on leaves and moving around on the ground on windy days. Yong kittens have wrestling matches, play with each other’s tails, and nip at each other. One of my kittens found an old lid from a pop bottle, and they kept batting that around until it finally got lost. They love to play with balls, toy mice, cat treat dispensers, crinkle balls, catnip filled toys; I had placed the toys in a building so they did last for a long time before they had to be replaced.

Cats Always Want To Play While You Are Trying To Work On A Project

When I am talking on the phone, my cats seem to be jealous of the phone. Cali will start throwing toy mice or other cat toys up in the air. Garfunkel starts meowing loudly at me. Conrad will purr or stare at me as he thinks, why is she talking to that piece of plastic while I am in the room with her? When I write a blog post, Garfunkel will lie on my bed and stare at me as he must think, what is she doing now? I give them cat treats, and they are happy and content again. I give them a little scratch under the chin and a pat on the head.
