What My Cats Want For Christmas

What My Cats Want For Christmas

Cat Toys And Cat Trees

My cats love cat trees. They love to sleep up high so they can keep watch on animals outdoors and the other cats in my house. Cats love to sleep from a high vantage point out in the wild and indoors, as they can spot prey or potential danger. I like a very sturdy cat tree; otherwise, the support for the bed will fall off, and you will have to repair it or replace the cat tree. I try to buy cat toys with catnip, as they are a favorite for most cats. I purchased a new cat massager for my cats, and they love to rub their face, checks, and under their chin on it. Cat hammocks are a must-have for my cats as they love to sleep in the hammock curled up in a tight little ball and keep warmer that way.

Heated Beds

My cats love the heated windowsill cat beds and the round ones on the ground. I have had one wicker plastic model that has lasted ten years and counting. My outdoor K&H heated cat beds last at least ten years before they wear out. Buy a top-quality heated bed, as it will last for many years. Wait for sale prices before buying a heated bed. I generally buy my heated cat beds in the middle of the summer for about 50% off the original price. My cats do not like heated beds that have a cover over them unless it has a roof. Sometimes, three to five cats may come out of a heated cat building in the middle of the winter.

A Heater Or Furnace For Your Cats

If you have cats in your home, they are most likely toasty and warm with your furnace. If your cats live in another building, have an infrared heater in it, or consider putting a furnace in the building, as it will distribute the heat evenly. Ensure your building has lots of insulation in the walls and the attic, as it will save you money on your heat bills. Have warm and draft-free areas for your cats to sleep in at all times, as cats do not do well with any drafts that may hit them while they sleep and may develop a respiratory illness.

Cats Want To Be Happy And Healthy Everyday

Give your cat the gift of regular vet visits. Your vet may be able to prevent a disease from killing your cat because he caught it early by examining it in an annual physical. Keeping your cat’s shots up to date may save his life and prevent your cats from sharing their illnesses with your other household cats if everyone has their shots current.

Cat Food And Treats

Buy grain-free and non-GMO cat food without byproducts or fillers, as you are what you eat. Try to buy dye-free cat food and canned food without ash. Cats love freeze-dried cat treats. If your cat does not like a particular brand of food, throw it away; your cat knows what is best for him because of how he feels after he eats it. Buy the best cat food that you can afford for your feline friend. I hope everyone’s dreams come true this Christmas and their feline friends live all of their nine lives to their fullest potential. God, thank you for all of our blessings, as we would be nothing without you. Praise be to God.

A Cat Lovers Christmas Present

A Cat Lovers Christmas Present

Pet Beds

My cats love their Pat Baw cat bed. Their beds are cozy and plush for the most discerning cat. Garfunkel slept in his bed the minute the bed was unwrapped from Pat Baw’s pet beds. He stretches way out at night and does not get out of it until 6 AM. My cats also liked heated pet beds in the winter. The Pat Baw beds are machine washable, saving you money as they clean up and look new if the kitty vomits on their bed. Pat Baw pet beds help an older cat with arthritis as they are well-padded and extra plush. Any cat person reeving one of these fine beds for their pet would have a happy and healthy cat at Christmas and the rest of the year.

Cat Toys

My cats love to play with old thread spools, wine corks, and other things they may find in your home. My cats mainly love catnip-filled toys and circle ball toys. The catnip singing bird is always one of their favorite picks. Crinkle ball toys attract Cali every time she sees one as she tosses it in the air and runs after it like she is a kitten again. My cats love a squeaking mouse with a large red nose as all fourteen of my cats have played with one of those and a yellow singing bird cat toy. My cats also love playing with aluminum ball toys I have made for them. I have made dryer lint ball toys for them, and they love them. I shape the lint into a ball or mouse, and I sew it together with thread. Cali and Garfunkel love them. Conrad loves to play with a Hallmark rabbit that you pull his tail out, and he dances across the room. He figured out how it worked ASAP. All of my cats love tossing catnip mice in the air. Cali will bring one to me and meow just like she would if she had killed a live mouse. If cat lovers cats are happy, they are so glad, also.

Gift Certificates

If I receive a gift certificate for cat food, cat toys, cat beds, or a certificate I can use at my Vet, I am thrilled. All cats love good quality pet food, cat toys, cat beds, and the gift of good health. Cat lovers love to pamper their cats with the best of everything. Cats and their owners love self-cleaning litter boxes. Cats are part of our family. I love it when people give money to organizations that feed cats in developing countries and provide free medical care. Give money to spay and neuter clinics that spay, neuter, and release cats back into their feral communities. Help cats that have been abused find love in their life by being adopted into a loving and caring family home. I want all pets to have a loving and caring home for Christmas and after Christmas. Help God protect all creatures, great and small. May all of God’s creatures know love, happiness, peace, and love in their lives.

What Not To Give Your Cat For Christmas

What Not To Give Your Cat For Christmas

Do not let your cat eat any poinsettia leaves or any part of the plant. Your cat will most likely be unable to meow for about one week. Mistletoe will kill a cat if they ingest it. Chocolate will also destroy your cat if they eat any of it. Please do not feed your cats any bones; they could get lodged in their throat or cut their esophagus. Please do not feed your cat as many table scraps as he could throw up or get horrible diarrhea. I only give my cats a few little turkey pieces at Christmas.

I do not put up a Christmas tree since I have house cats. Cats can drink the water under the tree, and some water has been treated with chemicals that keep your tree looking better longer but will kill your house cat if they drink that water. Tinsels will get lodged in your cat’s stomach or digestive system if they play with it and then eat it. Cats can chew on Christmas lights, bulbs, and more which could harm or kill them.

Give toys to your cats with no eyes or anything they could pull off and eat, as they could choke to death. Give your cat toys made for cats to be on the safe side. Never let your cats play with plastic bags, as they could quickly smother to the end. Throw wrapping paper in the garbage soon, along with ribbons and strings. Strings are hard to remove from your cat’s mouth and might be ingested to where your cat would need surgery to draw the downed line.

As you clean your home for Christmas gatherings, remember to put away your cleaning supplies ASAP so your cat will not get poisoned by you because you got into too much of a hurry trying to get ready for Christmas. I hope you and your cats have a Merry, safe Christmas this year and forever more.

What My Cats are Getting for Christmas Presents

What My Cats are Getting for Christmas Presents

My cats get cat treats that are natural with no artificial colors or preservatives in them. They love turkey, chicken, salmon, tuna, and other flavors. I give my cats treats on Christmas Eve or early Christmas morning.

I bought a few new heated cat beds for my cats. They love cuddling up in these warm, warm cat beds on cold winter nights. I also purchased some heated windowsill cat beds. They love to lay on these and watch the birds outdoors while resting on their heated window perches. I also have several heated stainless steel water bowls. I always buy stainless steel water bowls because they do not break like plastic ones in cold weather.

I have purchased several new toys for my cats. I have purchased singing toy birds for cats that are stuffed with catnip. I bought several bright-colored balls and toy mice that are always a big hit with my cats. For Christmas, they will also get a stuffed miniature sock monkey and a Star Wars cat toy this year.

All outdoor cat buildings have been filled with fresh straw and thoroughly cleaned before the cold weather sets in. Always keep a heated outdoor cat bed and a heated outdoor water bowl for your outdoor cats. Fresh straw helps your cat stay warmer in the winter months.

I will be buying another circle toy for my cats this year. They love to bat a ball or a mouse around in a track on a circle toy. I will buy one that is brightly colored. Some circle toys have a scratching pad for your cat to sharpen its claws on.

I make sure all of my cat’s shots are up to date, along with their yearly checkups. A gift of good health is the best present you could give your feline friend.

Merry Christmas to you and your family and all of your feline household.

Cat Emergency

Cat Emergency

What to do if your cat is injured.

Your cat depends on you in an emergency. First, you should figure out exactly where your cat is hurt. Remember, minutes count in an emergency; you’ll want a first aid kit.

What you will need in your first aid kit:

  • Gauze
  • Gauze pads
  • scissors
  • Ice Pack
  • Hot water bottle
  • Old blanket
  • Towels
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Eye dropper
  • Strips of clean cloth
  • Safety pins
  • Pepto Bismol
  • hydrogen peroxide
  • Wound powder
  • Boric acid eyewash
  • Razor blade

Approach an injured cat with extreme caution. Talk gently to the cat. If the cat’s ears are back, and it is growling, do not pick him up. I put a fish net over my injured cat, put him in a cage, and took him to the vet.

One of my cats was bitten by a raccoon. She was bitten on the bottom of her foot. I cleaned the area with three percent hydrogen peroxide. Her foot kept swelling over several days. I took her to the vet; he gave her antibiotics. She recovered quickly.

Cover the damage with a clean cloth if your cat has a wound or excessive bleeding. Keep pressure on the damage until the bleeding has stopped. Take your cat to the vet ASAP to ensure he will be alright.

You should do the following if your cat chews on a poisonous house plant; if he has not vomited, induce vomiting by giving him a unique solution you can buy from your vet until he vomits. Hold the cat’s mouth shut and slant its head up. Place a dose syringe at the corner of your cat’s mouth. Only give a little at a time, allowing him time to swallow. Rub the throat gently to stimulate swallowing. If a lack of breathing or convulsions occurs, take him to the vet ASAP. Have the solution on hand ahead of time if you have house plants that could be poisonous.

One of my cats chewed on a poinsettia plant once. He could not talk for a whole week. He did make a full recovery, luckily. I do not keep any houseplants in my house anymore for the sake of my cats.

Christmas and your cat

Christmas and your Cat

Christmas is a festive time of the year. Let Christmas be safe and happy for your cat.

I quit putting up a Christmas tree about eight years ago because of my cats. I had three house cats; the oldest one climbed up the tree and knocked it over. I blamed the youngest one naturally at first. I saw the most senior cat climbing up later on. I never put up a tree again. Cats can eat and chew tinsel, bulbs, string, etc. I once had a cat take a plastic bird off of my tree and take off its wings. My older cat looked at him. What is your problem? Don’t you know that it is not a real bird?

My Siamese cat once swallowed a piece of string. I was able to remove the line from her mouth, luckily.

Cats have had horrible internal injuries and surgeries from items they have ingested on Christmas and other occasions.

Error on the side of caution this Christmas for your cat well being. No one would want their cat to die from something they ate on Christmas or any other time of the year.

Merry Christmas, Dear Cats.

Cat Toys

Cat Toys

When buying cat toys, consider their color.

Cats can see in color, but the colors are less vibrant. Cats have six to eight times more rod cells, which can detect light at low levels than humans. Blue, red, yellow, and green are the easiest to distinguish between.

20151112_121252

My cat’s favorite toys are small stuffed green-colored dinosaurs, gray stuffed mice, a green plastic frog, and bright-colored balls. My cats also like to bat a mouse or ball around with their paw enclosed in a plastic circle. I also once had a cat that used to play with sponges. My cats also like to play with balls with flashing lights inside them.

My cats love any toy that has catnip in it. They like to play with catnip-filled mice, birds, balls, etc. I have a stick with a catnip toy on the end of it. My cats love to bat that toy around.

20151120_122030

My cats love to retrieve cat snacks out of a Snacky Mouse. When they play with that toy, they also get a lot of exercise. My house cat Conrad even carries the Snacky Mouse to bed with him.

My cats can entertain themselves for some time with any circle toy with a ball in the middle. They will bat at the ball for at least ten minutes. I also have a circle toy with a mouse in the middle. The mouse in the circle toy is battery-operated, and my cats love it.

20150308_150227

Cats will also play with an empty toilet paper roll. My house cat Garfunkel likes to play with a rubber practice golf ball. Garfunkel bats the ball around as if he were playing soccer.

I hope your cat can have some fun with a new cat toy, and you can have a lot of fun watching your feline friend play with his new cat toy.
