Some Of Them Will Try To Eat Your Food
If you answer your phone and leave your food on an end table, you’d better watch it, or your cat may think it’s found a wonderful meal. I saw a woman set down her glass of milk, and her cat had its head almost stuck in it, lapping it up. I told her, and she put the milk in a bowl for her cat. I would put the milk down the drain and not reward the cat for their bad behavior. Never put mouse poison or any poison in your home where your cat could eat it and die. One lady had a dinner party, and the cat leaped onto another woman’s plate, and the gravy flew all over the woman’s fancy dress. What a disaster that would be. Please train your cats when you first get them to stay off countertops and tables to avoid this in your humble abode.
Cat Fights
I have had my cats fight when I was trying to feed them, as they thought they might be left out at feeding time. Winchester likes to slap Mr. Gray now and then, even though they seem like best friends at other times. Cats have to make sure everyone in the cat household knows which cat runs the house. All my cats are declawed except an older female, so the dominance thing never gets out of control. Most cats get along very well when managed properly, which can make you feel confident you can maintain peace at home.
Knocking Things Over
I caught Milton trying to tip over a flower arrangement. I tried to stop him, but it toppled onto the carpet. Luckily, they were artificial flowers, and nothing broke. Cats love to knock over your magazines on an end table because they want your undivided attention at all times. Over the years, cats have broken knick-knacks and knocked over water glasses. They are pretty good at navigating and dodging things, but when they get plump or too ambitious, things get broken. They know when they break or knock something over, you will notice, and some cats crave even negative attention. The smart ones don’t want to get caught.
Bird Catching
My cats know I like birds. Maggie used to be an outdoor cat, and when I wasn’t looking, she caught a blue jay. I asked Maggie to drop it, and she did immediately. When Maggie got older, she became an indoor cat. I had another cat eat a goldfinch before I could stop him, and I told him he could no longer go outdoors, and he never did. Winchester had caught a chipmunk, and I told him to drop it, and he did immediately.
Cats Are Like Young Children
They claim cats have the mind of a 2-year-old child, and people always talk about the terrible twos. Cats tend to get into everything and test their limits, just like young children. Be patient with your little furry family. God bless our dear feline families.
