Cats Are Family Members Too

Cats Are Family Members Too

We Form Strong Attachments To Our Pets

Pets become part of our family, and when they get ill or sick, we take them to the Vet for medical care. I treated my Calico cat, Cali, for 6 years by giving her a Ringer’s solution once a week, which helps her kidneys function. My cats get medicare care just as my child does. We want our furry friends to have a happy and healthy life, too. If we cannot find our pet, we look high and low until we locate their hiding place ot where they wandered off to. We may let our pets sleep in bed with us so they stay comfortable and toasty in the winter months, or cool in the summer months with our ACs on.

Our Cats Keep Track Of Us

Cats love to follow you around the house to help keep you safe. Cats are afraid of water, so they follow you to the bathroom, which they consider the most dangerous room in your home, since you could slip and fall in the bathtub and drown. Cats stay close to their clowder outdoors because safety is in numbers. One time, my three outdoor Toms beat yo an intruder Tom trying to take over their territory, and needless to say, he never came back again.

Cats Have Saved People From Disaster

Cats have woken their owners to alert them to a fire in the house or to a gas leak. One cat kept trying to get his owner to follow him to the basement because he sensed a horrible storm was coming. Luckily, the owner finally relented just before the tornado hit and followed his cat to the only unscathed part of the basement. Cats have saved little children from getting run over. The cat kept leaping at the back window of his owner’s SUV, and finally, his owner got out and noticed his two-year-old crawling on the ground behind the car. The cat got the Royal treatment that evening as his wife baked the heroine cat Tuna pie. One woman was working in her garden when her cat noticed a huge snake she had not seen. Her cat grabbed the snake, killed it immediately, and saved her life, as the snake was a rattlesnake.

Cats Bring Joy And Love Into Our Lives

A cat’s purr is healing, and they soak up our negative energy, I have been told. Cats will lick your hand, or head butt you, or maybe give you an Eskimo kiss.  I love it when my cat or cats sit on my lap in the evening, as it is a good way for me to unwind after my day, and they help me relax. All cats have their unique personalities, and I love every one of my pet cats. Some cats love to greet you first thing in the morning, and others are more reserved. Some of my cats crave attention, while others prefer to be left alone until they want it. All of us have different personalities, and so do our dear feline friends.

Domimant House Cat

Dominant House Cat

Your Dominant House Cat Rules The Clowder

He will provoke fights with your other cats. My cat Winchester rules the house. Some days he behaves normally, and other days he acts like a wild jungle cat. He loves to pick fights with the male cats in the house, even though he is half their age. At least all of my v=cats are declawed in front, except for Faith, who was too old to get declawed when I adopted her.

My Cat Cali

When Cali started having kidney failure, Winchester took advantage of her situation. He started attacking her. I put her in my house and after having a test at my Vet that said she had kidney failure,  I thenput her in my house with my two cats. I have given Cali water IVs for 6 years now, which help flush toxins from her body and encourage her to drink more water. Cali is the top cat in my house because she has a lot of Siamese blood in her. She does not attack my other two house cats, but she still runs the house according to her plans.

Winchester Is Very Moody

Winchester was a house cat at one point, but he was later dropped off at a farm. A cat that was once a house cat and then became feral has a hard time trusting people again. I love Winchester very much, and he knows it. Once in a while, Winchester will sneak outdoors, and when I try to bring him back in again, he tries to attack my face. I then place him on the floor or hang onto him very tightly, depending on the situation. I have learned to leave him outdoors and keep an eye on him until he runs up to the house door and runs right back in on his own.

My Cat Tammy And Winchester

Tammy had not been feeling exactly up to par. My Vet ran a complete blood panel on her, and it said she had an infection. I took her to my Vet for an antibiotic shot. Winchester knew she did not feel up to par, so he struck her in the face with his leg and foot, and I told him to stop doing that and that I did not approve of that kind of behavior whatsoever.

Everyone Has At Least One Dominant Cat In Their Household

There is a reason why cats act as they do. You never know what a cat has had to endure in its life before you adopted it or took it into your home. Think if you were you and a cat had been kind and loyal to your family for years, and all of a sudden they left you alone and scared on the side of the road. You would not trust anyone, and it would take a very long time to get your trust back in humanity. Siamese cats are always dominant, as it is in their DNA. If your cat has anger issues or trust issues, do the best you can to help your cat gain trust in you. Remember, never yell, strike, scream, or scare your cat, as this will only lead to more issues. Talk to your cat gently, but adjust your pitch a little to let them know you do not approve of their behavior at that moment. Have patience with your cat, as you have no idea what he has been through in his life.

Cats And Funny Behavior

Cats And Funny Behavior

A Sick Cat Will Act Differently

They may start by losing too much weight too quickly. Cats that weigh too much are at a high risk of getting diabetic at some point, and the medicine is very costly, and it only works for so long, and you will have to have your pet cat put to sleep, as they may become so weak that they can hardly walk across the room. A sick cat will try to isolate itself from the rest of your household, and they will be hard to find. You may find an ill cat sleeping under a chair or in the basement, where it is hard to see. As cats age, they are not as playful anymore, and they get easily annoyed with any younger cats in your household that may try to pounce on them or play with their tail. Cats that are not well generally have a drooping tail. If your cat suddenly starts biting you, it is their way of telling you they don’t feel well. If your cat has diarrhea in the litterbox, it could have a variety of health issues. Never let changes in your cat’s behavior go unchecked, as your cat could die without help from your Vet. When in doubt about your cat’s health, call your Vet ASAP.

Cats At Play

Cats may try to balance on your curtain rod, and some can do it without falling, as all cats are very agile. I have a blind cat that can navigate around pictures on a bookcase perfectly. I found one of the outdoor cats years ago, balancing on a fence post as it tried to pounce on a mouse. Sher pounced on the mouse at just the right moment and with great precision, killing it immediately, and she enjoyed her mouse appetizer. I love watching kittens play with their mom’s tail and mock catfights with their siblings. Kittens love to play with and in the leaves, and they will chase the spinners that fall off the maple trees. I have had cats climb to the top of the barn roof or the very top of a tree, but they always seem to get down on their own. One of my indoor cats, years ago, would hide in a cupboard where she could look out and watch us play pool, keeping track of where the balls went into the pockets. She also hid in the towel closet one morning, and when I reached in for a towel, she moved and startled me.

Cat Helpers

I have had cats leap on my back while gardening, or start digging as I used a garden hoe. Many of my cats over the years have lain out in the garden while I was picking green beans. Our cats love us, and they want to keep track of us and keep us safe. My indoor cat, Garfunkel, would sit by our picture window while we mowed, making sure we were secure in the great outdoors.

Life With cats In Your Home

Life With Cats In Your Home

I Had My First House Cat When I Was Sixteen

My first housecat was an 8-year-old purebred Siamese cat that we adopted. Her name was Sugar, but she did not live up to it. She would occasionally get into trouble. Once she chewed the entire corner off of our Road Atlas, and she chewed up my Mothers genealogy papers. I loved Sugar dearly, even with the characteristics that all Simese cats seem to have. She was a Seal Point Siamese cat. She loved to lie on my lap, but at a certain point, she would give me an evil look. I had to set her on the floor as she would stare at my face as if she were in attack mode. She dearly loved our pet parakeet, Perry. She would lie down next to where he was, and his singing would lull her to sleep. She loved to play with any sponge that she could find. She ran into the field one day, and luckily, my Mother spotted her in an area where no crops were growing. I put her back in our house, and luckily, she never did that again. She lived to be 16 before breast cancer set in, and I had to have her put to sleep.

Ginger Was A Chocolate Point Siamese Cat

She was a very gentle and loving cat, always by my side. She got along fine with cats except female cats. She lived to be eighteen before I had to put her to sleep. She kept me safe from a bat that had gotten into our home while our house was undergoing new shingles installation. She chased it down until I could remove it.

Philmoor

Philmoor was a cream colored tuxedo cat. He was exceptionally friendly, and he would sleep next to me every night. He would purr away contentedly, and he got along fine with my older cats. I found him in a Perkins parking lot. He got liver cancer, and I had to put him to sleep at the age of ten.

I Adopted A Ginger Cat Named Red

Our veterinarian gave Red to me when Sugar died. He had found Red wandering around on a golf course in the winter. Red was a brilliant cat, and he quickly learned to play a cat ball game. He was energetic and wanted to make sure you watched him, knowing he was a master at that game.

Sebastian, Kohl, And Conrad Where Born On My Farm

They were black cats, as I have always loved them because they seem to have a pleasant disposition. Sebastian was an outdoor cat to begin with, but one cold day, he sat by the door and looked at me with his adoring eyes, as if to say, “I will make an excellent housecat for you.” I gave him a warm bath that night and dried him off while he settled in. That evening, he rounded up every toy mouse in the house and had them all lined up in a row.

Kohl

Kohl was a sickly kitten, so I let him in the house. He had the most pleasant disposition of any cat I have ever had. Kohl was a wonderful lap cat, and he got along well with all of my other cats. he was a smart cat and figured out games quickly. Kohl got cancer, and I had him put to sleep.

Conrad Was Born In An Outdoor Cat Building

He became my housecat when he was almost one year old. he would drown any mouse that might happen to get in the water bowl. I threw out the mouse, and he had a fresh, clean water bowl to drink from. He could figure out any treat ball or toy in a matter of seconds.

I Have Cali, Garfunkel, And Milton Now

Garfunkel is a sweet and loving gentleman cat, and Cali is very affectionate and sweet. Milton treats my elder cats with respect and care. Milton deowns mice in the water bowl just like Conrad used to. Cali is still very active and enjoys playing with her cat toys. Gearfunkel is always next to me. I love all of my cats dearly. Cats bring joy to our lives, and it has been proven that people with cats live longer. Cats help keep blood pressure down and provide many other health benefits. God bless all of our feline family with good health for many years to come.

Cats Mysterious Ways

Cats Mysterious Ways

Why Do Cats Bite?

Tomcats will give you a love bite to show their affection toward you. If a cat is scared or timid, it will bite you as if to say Leave me alone If you want to pick me up later, I might be open to it, but not now. If you are not gentle with your cat or you did not pick him up correctly, he will bite quickly to let you know that he disapproves of your methods. Your cat may bite you by accident if you are feeding him his favorite treat on your finger or if you have the treat in your hand. A cat that is in pain will bite you if you try to pick them up. If you find an injured cat, try to wrap a blanket or towel around it to avoid being bitten, and if you have leather gloves, put those on.

Why Does My Cat Try To Get My Attention

If a storm is brewing, your cat may sit and look up at the heavens as if to warn you that a storm is coming. My three house cats once got on my bed and woke me up, looked up toward the heavens, and made loud and eerie guttural sounds, so I went to my basement with them. There were tornadoes in my general area. Never ignore what your cat may be trying to tell you on a stormy night. My cat Kohl once warned me that a man was walking down my road at 9 pm, and he growled loudly as he looked out of the window at the man. People have been woken up by their cat in a fire, or if the cat smells a gas leak, and cats have been known to lie in the area where some people have had cancer before they were even diagnosed. When you’re talking on the phone, your cat is jealous because he is not getting your full attention, and they may knock down things or make a horrible racket as you are trying to carry on a conversation. Cats seem to know instinctively if you are in pain, and they will lie down next to the area where you have the pain. Pay attention to your cat if he wakes you or makes a loud noise, as he may save your life.

Cats And Their Human Caregivers

Cats form a special bond with us, and they want to protect us and make us happy. Cats will put their scent on you to show other cats that you are already taken as a cat caregiver, and they had better look elsewhere. One cat was trained to dial 911, but his owner thought his cat might not do that when the time came, but his cat did, and the cat saved his life as he had fallen and had heart trouble. Never underestimate your cat’s abilities. One cat was able to learn and understand 50  words. Cats are family, as we have a special bond with them that lasts forever, and then we look forward to seeing them again in heaven. God bless our Dear feline friends with a happy and healthy life.

Cats That Love To Charm You

Cats That Love To Charm You

Charming Cats

Cats love to rub on you and make their presence known. If you let your cat sleep in your bed, they may touch you gently with their paws as if to say, “I love you,” or “Are you OK?” Cats that meet you at the door charm you as if they say, “I missed you. Where were you?” I have had many charming cats over the years, some of whom would present me with a snake, bird, rabbit, or vole that they had caught and killed. One of my house cats will bring a toy mouse and place it by my feet as if to say Look at me, I am a good huntress. If your cat lies down with his stomach exposed, he is telling you that he trusts you 100%. Some cats charm you with their beauty and their angelic ways. Cats seem to know if you are not up to par, and they will not leave your side until you start feeling better. Some of my cats next door look at me lovingly with their eyes that seem to penetrate your soul. Cats help bring out the caring side of you, as you want them to live a happy and healthy life for many years to come. We spend millions of dollars on our pets as consumers every year, as we want our cats to live the best life possible with the best cat foods, treats, and toys.

Male Cats Seem To Have More Time To Charm You

Over the years, my male cats have loved to sit in my lap and let me fuss over them. My female cats want to be held or petted on their terms only. Researchers have said that female cats are hardwired that way. Females have to be alert to the needs of their kittens at all times, as they are the providers of food and their kittens, and they do not have time to be held and fussed over like male cats. Female cats are charming, but on their terms, because they must be caregivers and providers.

Love Nips

Male cats love to give you gentle love nips as it is their way of showing affection towards you. They never seem to draw blood as they have a gentle love nip. I trained one female cat to bite me on command when I was very young, and she obliged me each time. She was a beautiful female, colored calico cat.

Cats That Lick  You And Rub All Over You

My calico cat Cali loves to lick or touch my hand with her paw. Garfunkel loves to touch my nose with his nose when I am in bed at night, as it is his way of letting me know that he loves me. Faith loves to rub herself against my leg in the morning. When a cat sits in your lap, purrs away, and looks at you with beautiful eyes focused only on you, you know they love you very much. I love all of my charming cats. Every cat has its own unique and wonderful personality. My cats bring great joy into my life, and I could not imagine the world without a cat in it, as they are truly one of God’s wonderful and loving creatures. Coming home to a cat after a long day is very rewarding, as they calm you down with their special ways of greeting you, sitting on your lap, and picking up on your energy. God bless our dear feline friends and grant them a long, healthy, and happy life.

Cats Have A vast Array Of Personalities

Cats Have A Vast Array Of Personalities

The Calm, Cool And Collected Cat

My cat Kohl was always calm and cool. He was even-tempered and had a pleasing personality. He was never moody, and he loved anyone who would come to our house. He would greet the visitor and wait for them to take notice of them, and after he got their attention, he would wait for them to pat him or hold him. He got along fine with any cat and never fought with them. My cat Garfunkel is like that most of the time unless one of my cats nips at him, and then he will return the favor. Addi, one of my next-door cats, never lets any cat upset her as she gets along well with everyone. If your cat’s parents were calm, cool, and collected, most likely, the kittens would also be unless they were feral at some point in their lives.

The Touch Me Not Cats

I have had some of my cats next door for over ten years, and they still do not like to be touched or held. Their father was an outdoor Tom, and their mother was standoffish until she turned 14 and was very loving. It takes quite a while for a feral cat to trust you. Once they do, they are very affectionate cats. You have no idea of what your feral cat may have gone through in their life, as perhaps their owner dumped them or mistreated them. Be very patient and understanding with them. Some cats will not want to be held unless it is on their terms.

Moody Cats

I have had cats be very loving one minute, and the next minute, they will jump up and try to bite me. I think it is because they wanted outdoors, wanted something that they were not receiving, or were just plain jealous of the other cats in the household. I have had moody males and female cats, but on the whole, the females are more moody. It never works to have two alpha female cats in the same household, as they will not let one overpower the other without a lot of hissy fits. It will end up with one of them keeping the other female cat away from you with very well-planned tactics on their part. One cat may break something, but they ensure the other cat stands by the broken object. One day, I caught them in the act, and the cat causing the trouble looked at me like you’re not supposed to see this because I am a little angel.

Timid Cats

Some of my cats are very timid. When they are around me, they may come out or hide. If someone comes to visit, they will hide on top of a cupboard or stay in a heated cat building in the house, etc.

Power Hungry Cats

Winchester and Peter rule the house next door. They stand on guard duty by a window and put Faith in charge when they want to get down for a while. Winchester convinced Faith to rip open a cat treat bag with her claws. After she had done this, he tried to eat, all while I was not looking. I love all of my cats regardless of their personalities. Life would be boring if we all had the same personality type.

Alpha Male Cats

Alpha Male Cats

Top Tom Cats

They tend to sit up high and look out of windows or sit on a post or anywhere with a high vantage point over their dominion. The top toms soon let all the other cats in your household know that they better tread lightly since they are the top-ranking cats. I have two top toms in my house next door. Winchester and Peter always look out the window to warn others of any danger, birds or squirrels they may see. When they see me coming over in the morning, they tell Faith, and she jumps up to look out. She tells the others while they remain on guard duty until I open the door and serve their food and fresh water.

Top Toms Keep Everyone In Line

They do not take any flack from any of the other cats whatsoever. Faith has claws, and everyone else is declawed. If she smacks Winchester, he returns the favor until she runs away. Cali used to live next door before she became a cat in my house. Cali would go after Winchester, and he would take it to begin with, and then he started to defend himself. Cali could not seem to help herself since she is part Siamese. She started losing weight and could not defend herself at all anymore, as her kidneys were not functioning well. I have given her treatment for her condition for four years now, and she is doing well with my mild-mannered males in my house.

Outdoor Top Toms

If they are brothers, they band together, and any strange Tom cat generally will run for his life when it is three against one. My male house cat once decided he must go outdoors and ran away from me. I heard a terrible commotion in one of the outdoor buildings. My resident toms had ganged up on him, but luckily, he hid in a tight area between hay bales. He never tried that again and was glad to return to my house with no drama or wounds. I generally had gentle outdoor toms that treated my female cats respectfully and did not harm them.

Top Toms As Housecats

Having two male cats and one female is OK in your home. Female cats tend not to get along well with other females, as there seems to be a rivalry about the top female cat. In my house next door, they seem to all get along; since I do not live there, there is no need to be the top cat to get my attention as far as sitting on my lap. Top toms work out fine as housecats if no female cat is trying to slap or start a fight with them. I prefer male housecats as they tend to put up with more and like to be held and petted. Some females leap off your lap immediately and will only be close to you when they feel like it. I have had several females who were excellent lap cats, but the males put up with more generally.

Cats Love To Hide From You Now And Then

Cats Love To Hide From You Now And Then

I Think Some Of My Cats Get A Thrill When They See Me Calling And Looking For Them

Winchester loves to go outdoors occasionally, but the other day, he would not come when I looked and looked and called his name. He had watched me frantically looking for him the whole time, and he heard me calling his name, but he would not come to me. I think he wanted to see if I loved him and was also having fun watching me. I had a cat that would run when I was near him, ready to take him back into the house. He would finally give in and let me catch him. I had a purebred Siamese cat with all her claws; she knew how to defend herself against any attacker. We had to go to town one day for an appointment, and she would not come out from under a big evergreen tree. I told her it would rain and she would be soaking wet when we returned home, and she was, but she never tried that again. I looked for one of my cats; she had climbed high in the tree and would not come down. I returned to the house, and she was ready to come in.

Cats Who Do Not Want To See The Vet Or Want A Private Place To Sleep

Years ago, some of my outdoor cats would hide in another building if they thought it was time for their Vet visit. My housecats tend to hide if they think I will give them medicine. I have found them on a shelf, in a box, or behind the washing machine or drapes. My grandmother could not find her Siamese cat years ago. Her cat had gotten the lid off a shoebox and somehow got the lid back on with her in it. A woman who helped her with things found her cat as it was purring away inside the shoebox. I saw one of my housecats sound asleep in a Christmas decorations box. Once, the linen closet door was open, and my Siamese cat had fallen asleep on the nice, clean towels.

Dangerous Spots Where Cats Will  Hide

Cats love to lay on warm car engines in the winter months, and depending on where the cat is resting on the motor, it could be killed when the car is started. Cats will also sleep on top of warm car tires; if they do not jump off, their nine lives will be over. Always look in buildings you hardly use to see if your cat might have snuck in the last time you entered, as they may starve to death if you do not find them in time. One cat jumped in a chest of drawers the day her owners were moving. They found her one week later still alive, luckily but much thinner. Cats are very clever and sometimes too clever for their own good. God bless our feline friends and let them live out their whole nine lives.

Cats Add To The Spice Of Life

Cats Add To The Spice Of Life

Cats That Curl Up With You

It is comforting to curl up with your feline friend at night. If you have had an exhausting and stressful day, your cat may gently purr away and calm you down. Cats seem to have a sixth sense of how you feel at a particular moment. If you are in pain, your cat will curl up close to you and may lay in the area causing you the most pain. Just hearing a cat purr is very soothing. When I came home from a hospital stay, my black cat Conrad checked on me every hour to ensure I was still breathing. He would meow mournfully if he were unsure about me until I told him I was OK.

Kittens At Play

Watching kittens at play is so much fun, as everything is new to them, and they must explore everything they encounter. Autumn leaves are fun for your kittens to pounce on and roll around in the big pile you have raked up. Kittens love to play with their Mother’s tail, and the Mother cats put up with it because they love their kittens and are learning some hunting skills by playing with Mom’s tail. Kittens are the most curious of creatures, as they will play with almost anything. Watching your kitten grow into a beautiful cat is so much fun as they go through all the different stages of growth and development.

Housecats

Most people become very attached to their pets and consider them part of the family. Some cats eat off of countertops, tables, and more. I do not allow my cats to do this. We all know that cats use litter boxes, and they are full of germs no matter how often you clean them. I do not want to get sick because my cat was on the table after he visited his litterbox. Housecats love to play with catnip toys, circle toys, and many other types of cat toys. I love to watch my cats throw their toy mice in the air and then pounce on them when they land on the ground. Housecats make your house less lonely and catch and kill insects and mice that may sneak in. All cats have their distinctive qualities and dispositions, which make each one of them unique and special. You can never replace a cat that died with one with the same personality. We love our cats unconditionally, even if they are sometimes moody or uncooperative. We humans also have good and bad days and unique quirks, which probably irritate our feline friends at times.

Life With Cats Is A Blessing

Cats are wonderful friends who listen to you no matter what you tell them. Cats will meow back, gently purr, or touch your face with their paws. Cats will put up with a lot from little children as they seem to realize that they do not know that they should not pull their tails or pick them up in a way that they do not like. My cats followed me everywhere as a child, and I loved every one of them. God bless our feline friends.
