Cats Purr A Lot When They Are Happy

When my cats sit on my lap and purr away or lie next to me while I sleep, and they keep purring, I know that they are content and pleased. Cats purr when they receive new cat toys that they like or if they just received a lovely new heated cat bed. One of my cats with asthma loves to sleep in a heated bed; I think it helps his asthma to have lots of heat on his body. The minute I opened the door next door, 6 of my cats met me at the door, started purring away, and waited to be the first one to get my attention. My cats love to follow me, which usually pays off as they receive a pet treat.

The Great Outdoors

In the summer and early fall, my cats purr in their outdoor cat playpen, which is up high and next to my house. When some of my cats want to go outdoors, I follow them everywhere they go so no harm will come to them. You never know what animal could attack them if you left them unattended. Cats love to look at birds and watch the squirrels. I have a squirrel that comes next to my house every day at the same time, and he looks at the cats and watches TV for a while before he scampers away.

One On One Time With Your Cat

Cats vie to be the center of attention, and when you have a toy on a string filled with catnip and play with them, they are pleased indeed. Cats love to have you throw a toy mouse or singing bird in their direction. They will toss the toy around in the air and sometimes bring it back to you so you can toss it to them again. Cats get jealous quickly if you do not share the attention equally. My cats take turns sitting on my lap, which works well for us all.

Grooming Your Cat

My cats love to be combed out. Conrad will purr away loudly when I goom him with a special cat brush. Cali will arch up her back as if to say do not miss this part of my back. Mr. Gray, Faith, Hilford, Winchester, Addi, and Lizzie loved to be combed out with a cat brush. Addi would like it if I combed her out all day along with Faith. Grooming relaxes your cat and makes their coat nice, bright, and shiny at the same time.

Cats That Are Well Cared For Our Very Happy Cats

Anyone well cared for is happy and content, and so is your feline friend. Vet care keeps your cat in tip-top condition. If any disease or illness is treated quickly enough, it could save your cat’s life. Make sure your cat has fresh water and wet food every day. Cats are happy when their litter box and bedding are clean. I hope you and your cats are happy and healthy for at least nine lives.

Putting Together A New Cat Tree – Tower

I put together a 74′ tall cat tree. I looked at the directions, which helped considerably. It was hard to get the side pieces inside of the collapsable beds so that they would be solid beds. The screws were very hard to line up with the drilled holes in the cat tree. My cats kept throwing my Allen wrench into a box, and I had to fish it out of the box three times. It took a lot of maneuvering to get it assembled tightly. It has two balls that attach to the bottom of the sleeves that they can bat around like a punching bag. I was very impressed that they did not have any string, which your cat can bite off shortly, and then their toy ends up on the floor as a fluffy ball. It took 2.5 hours to get the cat tree fully assembled. My cats kept trying to lay on it while I was making it. It has two ledges that had to be attached, a hammock, and three beds.

Book Cases, Windowsills, High Shelves, And More

I once had a Siamese cat that would get on top of a cupboard and observe the pool balls going into the various pockets. She had as much fun at that as we had playing pool. I had one cat climb to the very top of the barn roof, and she finally came down on her own accord in about 7 hours. I had a calico cat sitting on a wooden fence post, and then she would jump down and get the mouse that she could observe better being high up. One day years ago, my father was outdoors feeding the livestock, and our young black cat jumped on top of a thin plywood door and then jumped on my father’s back on a dark morning, to his surprise. Cats love to climb trees, and then they are afraid to come down because they do not realize how high up they have gone. Generally, they take it slowly and come down after a couple of hours.

Sleeping By High Windows

My cats love to sleep up high in their cat trees, windowsill beds, and hammocks next to windows that are very high up in my house. My cats love to sleep in boxes that are placed on plastic sleeving. Cats love any area up high to keep track of any predators or prey that may come their way. My cats love observing birds, squirrels, or any other animal they may see while being up high in a cat tree by a window. One day, they spotted a Deer and did not know what to think of that large creature.

Don’t Be Worried About Your Cat And His High Anxiety

Cats are very agile creatures, and they generally figure out things on their own, so don’t have a panic attack if your cat has high anxiety today and in the future. Cats have their reasons for being up high, where they can keep track of everything that is going on in their world.

Warm Areas Inside Of Your Home

I often find Cali sleeping in her bed next to the heat register after I am up and about in the morning. Garfunkel loves to take a cat nap on my lap, along with Conrad and Cali. Garfunkel sleeps in his cozy Pat Baw Bed, and Cali sleeps in hers also at night. Pat Baw Beds are pet beds that your cat will use forever. My cat’s next door have a heated house, heated cat beds, and boxes with towels. They are nice and cozy in whatever bed they choose to sleep in. I have one heated cat bed in my house that Conrad occasionally uses. My cats also like to sleep on high sleeves to get a bird’s eye view of everything happening. I have cat towers next to windows next door so my cats can watch any animals that might walk along and birds. My house cats like to nap next to the picture window to watch the birds eating out of the bird feeders.

Outdoor Cats

My outdoor cats used to sleep in our barn in the hay. They also had a big trunk with a hole in one end full of hay, and most would exit that trunk in the morning. I also had an old chicken nest stuffed with new straw. My cats had a cat building later that had an outdoor heated cat building and heated mats to sleep on, along with a heated water dish. I also had a heat lamp dangling from a string above the chicken nest filled with straw. I had one outdoor cat that slept with our dog at night along with her kittens. They would go on hunting adventures together, and they were the best of friends. Make sure your cat has a draft-free area to sleep in.

My Cats Next Door

I have a Mother and daughter that share a heated cat bed. I found Lizzie and Tammy sleeping in a heated cat bed side by side last night. Sherlock sleeps in a cat bed I have inside a kitchen cupboard next door. Faith loves her heated windowsill cat beds the best. I find my three cat brothers sharing a bed or curled up with their father, aunt, or mother. My 11 cats next door have sleeping arrangements down pat with no disagreements.

Cats In Your Bed

Cats will sleep under your covers at night if it is a bone-shilling night. After they are under your sheets for a while, their head will pop out, and they will sleep above your head to lie up tight against you. Cats love to share a bed with another warm mammal. On one frigid night, I had a three-cat night instead of a three-dog night. One cat was at my side, one above my head, and one at my feet. If your cat fidgets at night, you may not want to share your bed with your cat as you will be robbed of valuable sleep. Sharing your bed with your cat is not a good idea if you have allergies. I hope you and your cat our nice and cozy on frigid nights.

Cats Love Extra Warm Places To Sleep

Cats Love Extra Warm Places To Sleep

Cats Sleeping By Furnace Vents And Heaters

My cats love to lay as close to a furnace vent as the weather gets colder. I have a cat bed beside the furnace vent for added warmth. Cats like it very warm and seek out the best spot for a nap next to your furnace vent. I have a heated electric fireplace with a cat mat in front of it, which is a prime spot on cold days. I have an infrared heater that I plug in on extra cold days, and one of my cats sleeps there.

Heated Or Insolated Cat Beds

I love K & H heated cat beds, which last a long time. One of my heated cat beds is at least ten years old. I have heated two-bedroom and one-bedroom cat buildings that are insolated and have a heating pad. I also have cat beds for one cat only. I have a cat bed that is insolated only that my cats love to sleep in. Heating pads with a fleece cover also work well if they are out of the elements. There are notable heated cat buildings in your garage or outdoors for outdoor use. The outdoor ones are perfect if you are trying to help a feral cat make it through the winter months. I have heated windowsill cat beds, perfect for the fall months, and my cats can look outdoors between catnaps.

Cat Blankets For Cats

I have purchased two cat blankets that my indoor cats like to lounge on and sleep on. I have one on my recliner and my couch, and then my furniture does not get covered with cat hair, and my cats love them. Small travel blankets or a baby blanket work well, also.

Cat Beds And Towels

I have several cat beds that are not heated, and I have put large fluffy bath towels in them. My cat next door loves to sleep on these in the fall and the warmer winter days. I have an old washing machine just for my cat items. I wash the towels and place them back in the box holding the cat beds since they are on sleeves.

Cat Hammocks And Your Bed

Cats like to rest in cat hammocks since they are covered in thick fleece and off the floor. You can also place a towel in the cat hammock for extra warmth. I used to let my cats sleep in bed with me until I discovered I was allergic to cats. My cat liked being as close as they could to me, and I wanted the heat that radiated from them.

Draft Free Resting Spots

All cats like a spot that is draft free for their catnap. Cats also want a quiet place and a traffic-free area in your home. Ensure your cat is cozy and warm this fall and winter, and you will have a happy and healthy cat. I hope you and your cats keep warm this winter.

Cats And Cold Weather

Cats Do Not Like Cold Drafts

My house cats love to curl up on a blanket over my chair or couch. I have also noticed my cat Kohl sleeping in front of my electric fireplace. I have two heated cat beds in my house. I have a heated water dish in my other home and one in my outdoor cat building. Your cat’s health needs to have fresh water every day. Conrad loves to curl up and sleep in a covered circular heated cat bed. My outdoor cat sleeps in a heated small dog house on a bench in the outdoor building. My cat’s next door has a small heater that heats the house. They have heated windowsill cat beds, heated tiny dog houses, covered heated beds, and beds with large towels to lay on. If any of my cats feel a draft, they immediately go to a wild area out of the draft. Never put a cat bed on the ground; it will be cold and drafty. Always place the cat bed on a sturdy bench or on shelving where the bed cannot slip or fall off. I remember my cat beds away from doors and areas that get a lot of foot traffic—cats like a quiet area where they can rest without being awakened by you moving around.

Taking Care Of Feral Cats In Cold Weather

Buy a small heated dog house and a heated water dish and place them in an area that is draft free. Be sure you make a clear path for them to enter and exit the house after it snows. Put some cat food in a bowl for them and ensure it has not frozen at night. Put out fresh water for them every day. Give them canned food in the morning, as it will add more nourishment to their diet to help them maintain their body temperature. Take the feral cats to your Vet for shots if you can safely catch and transport them. Your feral cats should be able to withstand the cold weather if they have these provisions.

Never Let Your Cat Outdoors In The Winter Months Unless You Have Them On A Cat Harness

People have told me they have seen cats outdoors in horrible snow storms. One woman rescued a cat that had his paws frozen to the sidewalk. She had to pour hot water on his feet to free him from the sidewalk. She took him to the Vet and had his feet treated for frostbite. Luckily, he recovered and could walk and move around well. Cats originally came from Africa and cannot survive in cold weather without shelter. If your cat ran away from you, if you let him out in the winter, he could die from exposure to the elements. One woman found a cat almost completely frozen one winter morning. She placed the poor cat in front of her furnace, and he began to move. She saved his life, luckily. Keep your cats warm, healthy, safe, and happy this winter.

I have 11 Cats That Live In A House All Of Their Own

I Have 11 Cats That Live In A House Of Their Own

My Cats Get Along With Each Other Beautifully

If you introduce cats correctly to each other, they should become friends rather quickly. I always put the newcomer in the bathroom with his food dish, water, and litter box. My other cats and he can smell each other from under the door. They can growl at each other with the safety of the door separating them. Remember not to pay too much attention to the new cat when your others cats are watching, as they are just like jealous children. Place your new cat in a room with your other cats and observe how they get along. The head of the household male cat will let the new cat know he is in charge. He may growl at him and try to get in a fight with him. Let them work it out if there is just a little spat. If you see that they will have a no-hold-barred fighting, separate your new cat again before you place them all together. They should all live in perfect harmony within a week.

Fall Cleaning Next Door

I wash all of the cat’s towels that they have for bedding. I scrub the floors with Lysol disinfectant cleaner, and I do a thorough cleaning of the house. I clean up all of the food dishes and the water bowl. I wash and clean out the litter robots and the other cat litter boxes. I make sure my heated cat beds, water dish, and electric heater are working. Now is an excellent time to throw out old cat toys or replace beds that have worn out. Order new heated beds now before the prices go up. I stock up on kitty litter and ensure I have plenty of cat food and treats. Wash your cat toys and beds that are washable. Once your heated cat beds are seven years old, replace them, as the heated pad probably does not release as much heat as it used to.

Cat Trees And Cat Hammocks

My cats love to sit high in the top tier of their cat trees and look out the windows at birds and other animals that may pass by. The cats love to curl up and fall asleep in their cat hammocks with scratching posts. I like sturdy well, constructed cat trees that have carpet on them, as they are also easier to clean with carpet on them.

Fall Health Care

I take my cats to the vet for their shots early in the spring. Suppose your cat has developed a cough or seems to have a cold. Take him to the vet ASAP before it becomes life-threatening. A minor illness can become a significant disease as the weather gets colder and colder. Ensure all your cats are warm and cozy as the colder weather sets in. We all want a happy and healthy cat for our feline friends.

Do Cats really Like The Gadgets We Buy For Them?

Do Cats Really Like The Gadgets We Buy For Them?

Cat Toys

My cats love to play with circle toys with a ball to spin around. My cats prefer cat toys that you can add catnip to. The cat toys that you cannot add catnip to get played with less as the catnip smell begins to fade away. My cats love to play with singing birds or squeaking mice toys. My cats love to toss small mice toys in the air and catch them. My cats will play with crinkle toys for a while and soon become tired of them. Cats love to play with aluminum foil balls and your old sponges. Some cats like to play with the plastic lids of food containers. Ensure the covers are large enough that the kitty will not choke to death on them. Lazar lights appeal to cats until they figure out you control the lazar. Cats like to leap at catnip-filled fish on the end of a wooden stick.

Cat Beds

My cats love their cat beds. They love heated cat beds from K and H products. My older cats love orthopedic beds as they help them with their joints, and they have an extra restful and relaxing night. My cats adore hammock cat beds as they curl up for a cozy evening or an afternoon nap. My cats love to sleep in small dog beds that are extra plush. Meofia handmade wool beds are great cat beds for long winter nights. I have ordered wicker beds with a small circle pad in the middle. The residence in the cat bed falls apart quickly, but cats like to sleep on an extra fluffy towel placed in the bed. Make sure it is machine washable when you buy a small dog bed. I wouldn’t say I like cat beds that you have to spot clean, especially if my cat throws up in the bed. I want my cat beds to be sanitary and hygienic.

Cat Feeders

I especially like the cat feeders that record your voice. When you are away from home, your cat can hear your voice from the cat feeder, prompting your cat to eat when they hear your familiar voice. I have also had luck with the circular cat feeders that have no voice recorders; however, I do not think my cats eat as much as usual with those. I had never had one breakdown when I purchased new from Amazon, Chewy: Com, or E bay. My cats love heated stainless steel water bowls in winter as they always have water to drink.

Automatic Litter Boxes

I like my two litter robot litter boxes the best. I have had them for three years, and they have been trouble-free. I have one pet-safe litter box that I have had for four years with no problems whatsoever. I am using one litter maid litter box and have used it for one year in my home. I had a litter maid litter box in my other house, which broke down in a year and a half. The rail system stopped moving altogether.  I hope this blog post helps you purchase gadgets and cat toys that your cats will adore for years.

Cleaning Your Cats Living Area And More

Cleaning Your Cats Living Area And More

Scrubbing Floors

I scrub the tile floors next door. I use a combination of Liquid Lysol and Tide, which kills any germs on the feet and make them sparkling clean. I use a bucket and a mop which works well. I also have a small floor steam cleaner that sanitizes my floors ideally. Some areas require a little scrubber to clean them area.

Counter Tops, Sleeves, And Tables Next Door

I use Lysol and soap on the countertops and the table next door. I also use a soft scrubber or a brush on the countertops. Wooden tables get cleaned with a wood cleaner, and then I apply some lemon oil to the wood tables. My cats sleep on sleeves that have cat beds and towels. The sleeves get cleaned with soap and water since they are plastic.

Cleaning The Dreaded Litter Boxes

I disassemble my litter boxes and then take them outdoors for a thorough scrubbing. I use a toilet brush only for cleaning my litter boxes and a 3 M scrubber. I put rubber gloves on before I start cleaning the litter boxes. I put dish soap in the litter box with the other parts of the litter box, and then I scrub them with the toilet brush. I let the litter box and parts air dry.

Cleaning Food Dishes And Water Bowls

I use glass or metal food dishes and water bowls since they are easy to clean and sanitary. Never buy plastic food or water bowls since they are a magnet for germs. The plastic gets scratched, and then it is impossible to sanitize them. I use dish soap to clean the water and food bowls.

Cat Bedding And Towels

I spot clean cat beds that cannot be washed in the washing machine. If the beds look bad, I remove them and replace them with a new ones. I use an old washing machine just for cleaning cat bedding. I use hot water and laundry soap on my cat towels. When washing cat beds, use the gentle and bulky cycle.

Cat Carriers

Remember to clean your cat carriers with Lysol and put new paper in them so you are always ready to transport your cat in a clean, sanitary pet carrier. Window cleaner comes in handy to clean the metal doors on the airlines. Cloth carriers will have to be spot cleaned with laundry soap.

Cat Toys

I wash my cat toys in my washing machine with laundry soap; they look and smell new. Some cat toys must be spot cleaned or replaced due to years of use. Sanitize your cat items to help you keep a healthy cat for many years.

Medicine Dispensers

If you have a pill gun, an Inhaler, a medicine cup, and more, remember to keep them sanitized so your cat won’t get sick from some virus living on the dispenser. Rubbing alcohol or soap and water works well. We all want our cats to be with us for many years. Keep their supplies and living area as clean as possible.

Getting My cats Winter Essentials

Getting My Cats Winter Essentials

Heated Cat Beds

I buy my heated cat beds from Chewy.com. I like the K& H brand heated cat beds, which are dependable and last a long time. Some cat beds zip apart, and you can take out the element and wash the rest of the bed on a gentle cycle in your washing machine and then let the bed line dry in a warm basement or area of your home. I like the window sill, round and dog house style heated cat beds. Please ensure the cords are in good shape on all of your cat’s beds and that they are in good working order before use to prevent fires.

Stock Up On Cat Food And Litter

I stock up on cat food and litter as I do not want to move the heavy containers around when a solid sheet of ice is on the ground. I love that chewy.com delivers your cat supplies right to your door. I order cat food, treats, kitty litter, toys, and more from chewy.com.

Checkups At Your Vet

I ensure all my cats have had their checkups before winter sets in. My cat’s shots are all up to date, and their teeth are in good order. A happy cat is healthy, loved, and well-cared-for the feline. Taking your cat to the vet regularly may prevent a significant health problem. All of us want our feline friends to live their entire nine lives.

Cat Toys And Exercise Wheels

Your cat will be fitter and trimmed with an exercise wheel in your home for cats. It will take your cats a little while to use the exercise wheel. Cats running and pouncing on cat toys help shed some of those unwanted pounds. I have some brain teaser cat toys to alert my cat’s minds. My cats love cat treat balls. When my cats move the treat ball just right, a nice treat rewards them for their efforts.

Canned Food And Cat Treats

As the temps, my cats love adding more canned cat food to their diet. My cats love canned food with squash or pumpkin and chicken or fish. More food helps keep up their body temp. And their energy level. My cats always look forward to cat treats. My cats prefer chicken or tuna-flavored cat treats.

Clean Up Your Cat Dishes, Litter Boxes, and Bedding

I have fluffy towels for my cat’s next door to cuddle up in, and I wash them before cold weather arrives. I take my litter boxes outdoors, clean them with soapy water and a scrub brush, and put rubber gloves on. All of my cat dishes get cleaned or replaced.

Keep Your Cat Free From Drafts

Ensure your door seals are in good shape and your windows are closed securely. Put your cat’s bed, litter box, and dishes in a warm area for your cat. Never keep a cat outdoors without shelter, a nice warm spot to curl up in, a heated water bowl, and plenty of food. I hope you and your cats stay nice and cozy this winter.
