Chill Out With Your Cat

Chill Out With Your Cat

Cats Help You Unwind From A Hectic Day

Cats know when you are not feeling as spry as you should be. Your cat will sit on your lap and purr away as if to say everything will be better tomorrow. It is nice to have your cat meet you at the door after a long day and want to sit on your lap and curl up with you. My cat’s next door vie to be the first cat that greets me in the morning. Generally, Winchester or Mr Gray are the first greeters of the morning. Lizzie would come out of her heated cat building and look up at me with a kind and loving look in her eyes. I like to sit in a recliner next door, and some of the cats will sit on my lap, in a cat hammock, or on the end table next to the recliner while I watch TV or read a magazine. Faith likes to sit on my lap but digs her claws into my leg. She does not do it intentionally, but those claws are long, like razor blades. Faith is a good cat but not a good lap cat because of those claws; she does not want them trimmed.

My Three House Cats

Cali, Garfunkel, and Conrad monitor me 24/7. If I do not feel well, they are there ASAP to see if they can help me. When I came home from the hospital one time, Conrad came to my door and meowed every hour to make sure I was OK. I appreciated his loving attention then. Garfunkel sleeps by my left side at night, Cali sleeps by my feet on the extra pillow, and Conrad sleeps in the middle on the left side. My house cats love to curl up in my lap, and we take a catnap together occasionally.

Play Games With Your Cat

Cats like it when you play laser chase with them or put a fish or bird on the end of a string they can jump up at and catch. Your cat will know that you love them when you spend quality time with them and are doing something with them that they love. Throw toy balls and watch your cat chase after them or toy mice, and your cat will act like it has caught the day’s catch.

Eat When Your Cat Eats

Cats like watching you eat, and you want to ensure your cat eats well. I feed my cats their wet cat foods right before I eat my food, ensuring everyone gets their fair share. Cats like to watch you eat because you may let them lick out the yogurt, TV dinner container, or cottage cheese container before you throw it in your garbage.

Spend The Day With Your Feline Friend

Feline friends help lower your blood pressure, and you will have less anxiety with a cat or cats as they have a powerful calming effect on their owners’ overall health. God bless our feline companions.

Life With Cats By Your Side

Life With Cats By Your Side

My Cats Followed Me Everywhere

My first cats were outdoor cats that followed me everywhere. If I played on my swingset, my cats would lie on the ground next to the swingset. When I rode my tricycle on the sidewalk, cats lined up along the sidewalk’s edge, or they would sit on my lap while I was on my trike. When I waited for the school bus in the morning, all my cats would stay with me until I got on the bus. I had a lovely bus driver who ensured he never ran over one wish, which was quite an accomplishment with eight cats to look out for. When I returned home from school, the cats would be lined up by the house door, waiting for the attention that they received. Some of them would follow my father, which was okay except for one time when he was moving grain. The curious cat jumped into the grain auger and went through fifty feet of lighting to end up in the wagon riding to the elevator and dumped in a pit. The cat leaped out before it ended up in the pit. The grain elevator attendant noticed, and he placed my cat back in the wagon. I am sure he told his kittens of the event that could have taken his life. We never had any more cats ever do that again.

Life With House Cats By Your Side

Cats love leading the way to the bathroom at night, which has generally worked out okay. One night, my black cat was sound asleep on the steps. I did not see him, so I stepped on him, lost my footing, and slid down the steps. Luckily, I did not break anything, and after that experience, I always turned on the light. You can be sound asleep to wake up to the sound of your cat vomiting, which is generally caused by a hairball or eating too fast. I get up and clean up the mess ASAP. Sometimes, your cat may see a mouse in the house, and he puts it in front of you to say look at the beautiful gift I have for you. It is the catch of the day just for you. You then have to throw it out the door or flush it down the toilet, but the thought counts. Cats try to please us in the best way that they know how.

Cats At Play

Watching your cat play with cat toys and have a grand old time is fun. Cats love catnip toys, circle ball toys, crinkle balls, singing birds, or squeaking toy mice. Once in a while, I will step on one of them at night, and the singing bird sings a song for me. Cats bring great joy into our lives, and it is very comforting to hear them purr away contentedly. Love and respect your feline friends forever, and always treat them as you would want to be treated if you were a cat. Cats have feelings, and they feel love, sorrow, and pain just as we do. I love it when my cats follow me and lie by my side. God bless our dear feline friends.

Two Little Kittens

Two Little Kittens

It Started With An Ad I Saw For Free Kittens

I ate in a restaurant in Wisconsin and saw an ad on their bulletin board that said kittens were available for adoption. I called the number, and a lady answered the phone. She said three out of the four kittens were still available for adoption. My friend and I drove to her home, and two little kittens ran toward my car with their tails straight up. I asked her about the kittens, and she said their Mother was homeless and she had her kittens at her home. She said they had been eating a lot of hot dogs that a restaurant had given them in town for her cat family to eat. They were so adorable that I adopted both of them.

Simon And Garfunkel

I was trying to think of a name for my two little kittens, and I decided on the music group Simon and Garfunkel. They had outstanding personalities and were well-mannered little kittens. For a while, Simon was an outdoor cat, and Garfunkel was always a housecat. They were playful and loving and got along well with my other cats. When I adopted him, Simon was a tiny cat who never grew much. He and Garfunkel would wrestle with each other and play with toy mice, balls, birds, and more. By age two, Simon kept losing weight, and my Vet said he was anemic. I gave him medicine, but it did not help, and I had him put to sleep. Garfunkel and I missed him terribly. Simon and Garfunkel lived in the house next door with my other cats. When one of my older housecats died, Garfunkel moved into my home with my two housecats.

Garfunkel And My Two Housecats

Garfunkel cleans and grooms Conrad’s face. Conrad touches Garfunkel very gently with his paw on his cheek. Cali and Garfunkel usually go to bed when I do and lie close to me at night. Garfunkel is a very photogenic cat. Once in a blue moon, Conrad sleeps by my feet at night but usually sleeps in one of the cat beds. Garfunkel is always next to me if I do not feel well or if I cry. My cats are one year apart in age in my home, and they all get along like peas in a pod.

Garfunkel Is A Senior Citizen Now, Just Like Me

Things get more challenging to do as we age. It is harder for Garfunkel to maneuver around now. He puts his paw out to judge the distance he has to jump to get onto the object of his choice. Garfunkel still loves to play with cat toys and eat treats for his wet cat food. He loves it when you hold him and scratch him under his chin. Garfunkel takes longer catnaps now and keeps close tabs on my whereabouts. Love your old cat just as you did when he was a little kitten, for we all age and grow old. Live all of your nine lives, sweet cats.

Cat Come Home

Cat Come Home

My New Cat Sneaked Out

You can be diligent, and your cat can still sneak past you and be out of your door. Cats are very determined creatures, and they aim to get their way one way or the other. If your cat sneaks out, do not panic. Your cat may not come back right away. Keep calling him. Sometimes, it may take up to three hours before he wishes to return to the comfort of his home. I had one cat that was gone for one week before she returned home. She had managed to get a large hole in the screen door and got out that way. To my surprise, I left the hole in the screen, and she was in the house one day after exploring her new area. I was elated to have her back home and safe again. The Siamese cat that I had years ago loved to go out and explore. It was going to rain one day while she was out, and I called and called, but she would not let me pick her up or would she enter the house. When I came home, she was wet, but it was 80 out, and she ran in the door the minute we opened it. My cat, Red, liked to go out and explore, and he would not let you catch him once he was out. One day, my three unneutered Toms saw him, and they tried to beat him up, but he hid in between bales of straw. After that ordeal, he was happy to let me put him back in the house. Put canned tuna in water in a trap, and you should be able to catch your missing cat if all else fails. I had a cat familiar with the sound of the lawn mower, so I drove it back and forth along the edge of the field. She came from the cornfield, and I returned her to the house.

Tom Cats And Female Cats

I have had many Tom cats take off for months during mating season. I always worried about them. Most of the time, they returned home with a few scratches. In the country, some people will shoot your Tom Cats if they set foot on their farm. Tom cats should not be shot unless they are brutal and mean to the female cats. We had a hunter years ago that killed our beautiful female cat right in front of my Father. She had kittens, but we gave them to another female cat with sickly and dying kittens. Her mother raised her healthy kittens. Some of my cats went to live with the neighbors after I had doctored them up. I guess they thought my Doctoring methods were torture even though I saved their lives with shots and pills. I had one cat that was gone for eight years before she returned home. She returned home to die as she only lived two months after her return. I hope your cat returns home safely and unharmed.

Having Cats In My Life

Having Cats In My Life

Cats Are Our Furry Friends

I was introduced to my first cat when I was two years old and have loved them deeply ever since. My Grandfather found Flossie, a very young kitten, meowing in a section of our field near the house. We made a bed for them in the barn, and she flourished and grew and had many kittens in her lifetime. She would follow me around the farm and lay on the ground when I was on my swingset. She and her kittens would wait for me when I stood outdoors waiting for a ride on the school bus. She had one calico kitten that I named Blacknose, and she would come up to our door with a dead garter snake in her mouth. She was the only cat I ever had that killed snakes. She had other kittens, and some of their names were Snitzel, Sprite, Hoover, Blackie, etc,

Dressing Up Snitzel

I loved to dress up Snitzel in large doll clothes. He was tolerant and would fall asleep in the shoebox with his attire on. When he woke up from his catnap, he would look at me with those amber eyes as if to say I cannot face the other outdoor cats with this on. I removed his doll dress, and he returned to being an outdoor cat. Snitzel was a wonderful and loving cat.

Adopting Cats

I have adopted many cats throughout the years. I adopted a cat named Honey, which is part Siamese, Persian, and domestic Shorhair. She was a beautiful Black and white cat with many beautiful kittens. She went to live at a neighbor’s house one day as they had a little girl who loved her and took Honey with them when they moved. I missed her but let her pick where she wanted to live. The neighbors left their purebred Tom cat with us, and he was a beautiful Himalayan cat. My relatives gave me a purebred Maine Coon cat years ago. My cats are a combination of these lovely cats that I had over the years and that I still have through their offspring. A friend gave me a beautiful gray and white tabby cat. I adopted some cats that needed a home while I was in Wisconsin. I adopted four cats from a woman whose Mother had died, and she needed a home for her cats. All my born-on-the-farm or adopted cats have been loved and cared for by me.

Cats Are Good For Your Overall Health

Having cats is known to lower your blood pressure and relax you. Hearing a cat purr is very comforting and relaxing. Cats are always by your side when you feel sick or sad. You can talk to your cats; they will listen and answer you with loving purrs or meows. Cats will always be my all-time favorite pets. I had a pet goat that I loved dearly, along with some dogs, gerbils, and a parakeet. Treat your pets with respect, love, kindness, and compassion, take care of them with regular vet visits, and keep their shots current. God bless you and your pet friends.

Some Of My Cats Mouse Catching Techniques

Some Of My Cats Mouse Catching Techniques

The Pride Catch

Sometimes, my cats band together to catch that elusive mouse in the house. One of my cats will be in the middle of the piece of furniture, stove, or refrigerator they think the mouse is hiding under, and a cat on both ends. This method works out very well, as the mouse always gets caught. My cats will sit by the stove all night, and eventually, the hungry mouse runs right into the trap with the almond butter. Outdoor cats have routines similar to family groups, which will help catch the mouse. Outdoor cats play with the mouse before they go in for the kill.

Single Cat Mouse Hunting

My indoor cat Conrad prefers to drown them in his water dish. Cali will chase them into a trap or kill them and leave the head behind to show that she is earning her keep as a huntress. Garfunkel helps my other cats out, but he never learned mouse-hunting skills from his Mother, as he was given to me when he was very young. My outdoor cat Onyx, who died at age 18, caught many mice in the ditches by my house. I used to have a cat that would sleep in the bushes by my home in the summer months, and he could catch a lot of mice by doing that.

Mother Cats

Mother cats will generally teach their kittens how to catch and kill mice as it is a survival skill in the wild. Most Mother cats will catch and release the mouse in front of their kittens. They hope the kitten will eventually learn to kill the mouse and eat it for nutrition. Most young kittens play with the mouse, and then it gets away unless the Mother cat watches it constantly. They often repeat the mouse-hunting and killing skills until their kittens finally catch on. If the Mother cat is not a great huntress, the kittens will not be either.

If You Have Any Cracks In Your Home, A Mouse Will Get In Eventually

I caulked all of the cracks in my foundation and by my doors. Mice can run in your home when you open your door, coming and going. Mice can flatten down and get in the thinnest of cracks. I had a cat that loved to sleep with a small dog in her dog house that we had years ago. She could catch any mice that got next to my door, and the dog kept her and her cat family warm in the cold winter months. I keep mothballs in my vehicles as they do not like the smell of mothballs.

Cats Want To Please Their Human Family By Keeping Us Rodent Free

My cats are always on mouse patrol, even when I have not seen a mouse in my house all year. In frigid winters, mice will find a way to get into your home to stay cozy and warm. Never put out mouse poison when you have cats, as your cats may eat the poison and die. Let your hunters and huntresses keep your home rodent-free.

Cats and Their Relationship With Other Pets

Cats and Their Relationship With Other Pets

A Siamese Cat

I adopted a pure-breed Siamese cat years ago. She had grown up with birds in the house. She dearly loved a pet parakeet that I adopted. She would lay on the bed and listen to her little bird friend sing. When her bird friend died at ten years of age, she was unfortunate for a while. She did not like other cats at all. I bought a sickly young male kitten into the house one day, and she quickly formed a Motherly bond with the weak little kitten. There is a kind heart in every cat.

A Red Tabby Cat

I adopted a red tabby male cat from one of my vets. He would not kill any mice. He had lived in the vet’s office since he was a young kitten. I imagine my vet had trained him not to kill any small rodents since they were probably patients in his office now and then.

Dogs And Cats

Dogs and cats can have a love-hate relationship. I have had dogs that like cats and other dogs that think a cat is a pest and they should get rid of it somehow. Most of the dogs I have had through the years finally learned to get along with my cats. Jitter was a small black dog that we adopted. Jitters thought of the Mother cat’s offspring as her own. She would babysit kittens for the Mother cats, and the kittens would follow her around.

A Pet Goat

I had a pet goat named Zachary. I put Zachary in a building with two kittens to keep him company when he was a young goat. He loved my cats all his life, and they had an excellent relationship. Zachary, Jitters, and one of my cats, Tabatha, would go hunting together. Jitters and Tabatha were after any mice they could find in the ditch. Zachary would go into the field and eat the ears of corn the combine had left behind.

Cats And Their Relationship With Other Cats

I have several cats who are still living with their parents and siblings. They have a special bond with each other. The siblings will lie down next to their Mother yet today. I have other cats that are not related to them, and they still have a special bond with my other cats. There is also a cat that would be an Aunt to the siblings. They groom and lick each other and cuddle in the same cat bed.

Pets Have Relationships That Will Last A Lifetime

If your cat grows up with your other pets, they will generally have a long and lasting relationship throughout their lifetime.

Spending Time With My Cats

Spending Time With My Cats

The Cats That Meet You At The Door

Some of my cats next door run to be the first cat to greet me at the door in the morning. Winchester, Faith and Mr. Gray are generally the door greeters every morning, they are the first cats to get my attention in the morning as I pat them on the head and check them over. Hilford meows the moment I enter the house as if to say do not forget about me. He only lets me pat him while he is eating. Addi sits on a heated windowsill cat bed that I am sure to walk by. I pat her on the head and give her an under the chin scratch. Mr. Gray jumps on top of anything close by to extra attention. Winchester will jump up high on top of my cat litter supply, so he gets more attention.

My Cats That Stay In Their Heated Houses

I find Tammy, Tigress and Nicole in a heated cat building every morning. Tigress is very friendly and the other two would rather not be touched. Lizzie sleeps in a small, heated cat building in the back room away from my other cats. She is 15 now and does not want to be bothered by my other cats. Peter and his sons will share a heated cat building. Sometimes Sherlock is sleeping on a fleece bed in a cupboard with the door wide open and I pat him. All of my eleven cats next door get as much attention as possible according to their individual personalities.

When The Sun Is Shining

All of my cats’ love to bask in the sun. My cats next door lay in their hammock beds up high by the windows and watch birds and other animals that may pass by the windows. My three house cats look out of my picture window at the birds eating out of the bird feeders and the squirrels eating up what they have dropped on the ground. Cali sleeps in the hallway upstairs as the hot sun shines on her through the window.

My Cats And Their Toys

My cats like it when I throw a ball or toy mouse in the air. My cats may play with that kind of toy off and on for most of the day. My cats love to play with squeaking or chirping toys. My cats love circle ball game toys and the cat snack dispensers. My house cats are lap cats and they take turns sleeping on my lap.

Spending Time With Your Cats Is Very Relaxing

Most of the time cats are cool and calm and they are excellent companions. If you are sad or lonely your cat will always be by your side to comfort and console you. Taking a catnap along with your cat keeps you nice and warm and toasty as both of you get each others body heat on the long cold winter days. There is nothing more relaxing then watching a happy and healthy cat. Thank you God for putting cats in our lives.

Cats At The Top Of Their A Game

Cats At The Top Of There A Game

Excellent Mousers

I had an outdoor cat years ago that would catch at least two mice a day, and she would devour them or give them to her kittens for their snack of the day. I had a cat that would leave her catch of the day by our back door daily. I have a house cat that will drown mice in a water dish. I have three cats that will chase a mouse until it runs into the mouse trap and dies as the trap trips closed. At one time, I had a cat and dog that would hunt down mice together, and sometimes my dog got the spoils. Years ago, when we had lots of grain stored in open bins on the farm, our cats would catch at least seven mice daily. We had a lot of mice that would make the old chicken house their home, but my most senior female cat killed off that entire mouse family. My cat’s family now will not eat mice, but they will get rid of them.

Cats Killing Or Fighting Other Wild Animals

We had a cat bitten on the face by a giant rat that she managed to kill. I have had cats chase down rabbits and eat them. Several of my cats have eaten pigeons and a pheasant. One of my cats fought with a large skunk, and the skunk ate off a small section of her face. She had a rabies shot, and her face healed up beautifully.

Tom Cat Fights

Tom cats can get in dirty and nasty fights. I have had Toms lose a section of their ear or had their face all clawed up. I had three Toms on my farm, and when an invader would come, he better run for the hills because all three of my Toms would chase after him. My Toms always helped each other out in defending their territory against invaders. My female cats would call my Toms when they noticed an invader approaching them. When a Tom cat gets older, he will need extra help defending his territory as he will not be as agile as the young Tom. Old feral Toms do not fare well; they end up all torn up or blind in one eye.

Feral Cats Need Our Help To Get Back On There A Game

Try to find a home for any feral cats you may see. Place an ad on Social Media, and tell your Vet about the cat so they can find a warm, loving home for them. Old and young feral cats do not fare well; they must fight for every morsel of food and defend their territory. In the winter months, they can get frostbite or freeze to death. Put out a heated cat building for feral cats and plenty of fresh water. Be careful catching a wild cat, as they may have rabies. Ask an expert on how to see a feral cat. I put out a cage with canned tuna in water which generally works every time. Has your local Vet checked over the wild cat? I love adopting and helping out cats that need our loving care. Keep your cats on top of their A game.
