Kittens And Their Antics
Kittens love to play with their mother’s tail and anything they see moving, such as leaves, insects, and rodents, and they pounce on anything that catches their attention. Kittens love to wrestle with each other. They practice their skills as kittens so they become perfected as they turn into adult cats. Kittens love to jump on top of things. I had a young male kitten who would walk across a curtain rod and balance perfectly. He couldn’t figure out why he started falling off as he got older. One day, he gave up the curtain-rod balance act for good. Kittens love to crawl up your legs so you will hold them and give them your complete attention. I have had kittens ride on my shoulder while I was painting outdoors or jump on my back while I was gardening. I tried to discourage that behavior. Kittens will chase after cat toys for hours, especially if you toss them in the air. Kittens like to pick a warm spot for an afternoon nap next to Mom if possible.
Adult Cats And Their Antics
I have had adult cats leap off of a door onto my back. My grandmother tried to feed our cats gravy, and they leaped into the pan, sending gravy flying everywhere. The cats licked each other off and enjoyed the gravy. One cat sneaked into our house, jumped onto the table, and licked away at our butter, and the outdoor cat and the butter went outdoors. I had one calico cat climb to the peak of the barn roof, and she stayed up there for two days, then came down when she felt like it. I had a calico that sat on a fence post all day to catch a mouse, and she pounced at the right moment and ate her prize. One night, my house cat meowed a different, curdling, loud warning meow. I had forgotten to pull my shade down, and he alerted me to a man walking down my road at 9 pm. I got up, pulled the shade down, and thanked my cat for his warning meow. I had a female Siamese cat that I adopted that loved parakeets. She had a pet parakeet when she grew up, so we adopted one for her. She loved to sit by his cage and listen to him sing. When her parakeet died, she mourned his passing with wailing meows.
Cats Over The Years
I have had cats that have formed lifelong bonds with our dog and other pets. I had one cat who made our dog and our pet goat her friends, and they would go on hunts together. Several of my kittens came up to my door; they were outdoor kittens, and by meowing and asking to become house cats, they became indoor cats that were well-loved and well-mannered for many years. God bless our house cats and the antics that bring us joy and add spice to life.
