Cat Litter

Cats can be very particular about their cat litter. Some cats prefer a specific brand of litter. One of my cats did not like scented cat litter because he had allergies to it, which made him sneeze when he used the litterbox. Never put out a new cat litter without having your old brand in one of your litter boxes, as it will help prevent accidents if they do not like the new litter. Some cat litters clump, and others do not. My cats prefer the clumping kind. You can change your cat’s litter often, as cats do not like to use a dirty litter box.

Cat Food

Cats get used to a particular brand of food, and cats do not like changes. If you need to change your cat’s food brand, put out one bowl with the new food and leave the old brand in the other bowl. Please don’t hesitate to let me know. Your cat’s stomach may not be able to handle the new brand of cat food. You may have to stick with your old brand, but you could try switching to a different variety or flavor, perhaps.

Cat Toys

Cats can be very fussy about which toys they like to play with. I cannot go wrong with catnip mice, as my cats always love playing with them. Singing cat toy birds always seem to be a winner. From my experience, my cats never seem to like the pop-up ad cat toys. My cats may look at them for one day, and then they ignore them altogether. Cats do not like large toys; they want ones that are easy to carry around. Never buy the cheapest cat toys, as they can fall apart quickly, and your cat could ingest part of the toy and perhaps die.

Cat Relationships

Your cat will remember you forever if they have been around you for at least 3 months. Male kittens will have a close bond with their Mother forever if they are not separated from her. Introduce new cats to your household slowly and behind a closed door to begin with. They will be able to smell each other from under the door. Cats can become friends with dogs, birds, goats, other cats, squirrels, rabbits, and other creatures. Once in a while, even your well-mannered cat will disagree with another cat in your household over attention, as cats are very jealous creatures indeed. Cats will mourn the loss of a cat friend or other animal friend. Cats will mourn the loss of their human caregiver for a very long time. Our cats have mourned the deaths of family members over the years. They tend to isolate themselves more and eat less. Cats have been known to travel to the cemetery where their owner is buried and lie at their grave site.

If Your Cat Is Fuzzy, There’s A Reason For It

It is your job as a cat owner to figure out why your cat is fuzzy. Your cat might not be feeling well, which is why he is so moody and out of sorts—your cat tries to communicate with you to the best of his ability. Cats let you know if they do not like their food, kitty litter, or a new person in your home, etc.

Now Is The Time To Take My Cat To The Vet

If your cat has been vomiting for over two days, it may be much more than the food not agreeing with them. Your cat could have throat cancer, a tooth infection, a growth in his throat, or another life-threatening illness. If your cat eats a poisonous plant, he may have trouble going to the bathroom or much drooling, possibly trouble walking. If your cat stops eating, this is a sign of a significant problem. Some cats will stop eating when they are close to death or if they have eaten something that is highly poisonous. One of my cats jumped off a countertop and landed wrong because my other cat was right where he wanted to land. Since he did not want to land on my other cat, he broke his leg when he landed. I first thought he had stabbed himself somehow with a table knife that was in my dishpan. He was screaming in pain, and I rushed him to my vet. My vet placed him on the floor, and he knew he had broken his leg. My vet gave him pain meds, and then he set his leg in a cast. It took my cat a long time to realize he could walk again.

Fleas

If your cat keeps scratching himself repeatedly and shaking his head, he most likely has fleas and ear mites. Several treatments can kill the fleas. Ear mite medicine will take care of those pesky ear mites. If one of your cats has ear mites or fleas, all of the cats in your house will have them, and they will all have to be treated. You must wash all your bedding, clothes, and cat bedding and hire an exterminator to spray your home at least twice before you kill them off. You can get fleas from your cat, and you will itch like your cat.

Frostbite

I have seen several cats lose the tips of their ears over the years due to frostbite. If you live in the country or town and care for outdoor cats, ensure they have a shelter out of the wind and have heat. One woman told me she found a cat stuck to the cement by his paws because of ice. She took hot water and freed him from the cement, and he became one of her beloved house cats. I have noticed that some people dump their cats outdoors in the middle of the winter. I adopted two cats that had been placed outside in the winter. An older woman told me her neighbor had done this. I told her to turn her neighbor in for pet abuse. I wonder how they would like to be placed outdoors in the middle of the winter with no shelter.

My Cat’s Eyes Have A Discharge

If your cat’s eyes have discharge, they probably have other issues that may require antibiotics. Some kittens with feline distemper have a lot of discharge from their eyes.

Lethchargic Cat

If your cat does not have his old get-up-and-go and wants to sleep all the time, take him to the vet, as it could be a sign of health issues. If your cat is not acting normally, take him to your vet ASAP, as it could save your beloved feline friend’s life.

Training Your Feral Cat

Be Patient With Your New Feral Cat

Some feral cats have been tamed and reverted to the wild because a previous owner mistreated them. If your family deserted you, it would take a while to trust anyone again. Some feral cats are born that way because their mother and father are feral cats. Feral cats must depend on what they can catch for food or on good people who feed them. It will take a feral cat a long time to trust you and warm up to you. Feed your new feral cat foods they like, talk to them gently, and interact with them daily. Your new feral cat or cats will probably bite or nip at you, to begin with, as they wonder what is in store for them in a new home. If we were taken to a strange place in a room full of strangers, we would probably not sleep all night and be very apprehensive. Your feral cat feels precisely that way.

Place Your Feral Cats In A Room That Can Be Closed Off

If you give them the full range of your home, they will be scared and hide, and they will remain feral as they have not had time to bond with you. If you keep them in one room, you can bond with them by feeding them and playing cat games, such as having a fish or bird on the end of a string they can go after. Have a litterbox in the room with easy access, a food dish, and a water bowl. Your feral cat may not use the litterbox, but with patience, he will. Never place your cat’s head in an accident, as that is just mean and cruel. Even as humans, we may have an accident on occasion. Make sure you have a cat bed or hammock in the room for them to curl up and feel safe. If you have another cat, they will be able to smell the newcomers under the door, and they will get used to each other this way without any bloodshed. After two weeks have passed, I let the newcomers mingle with my other cats under my supervision to begin with. Once I see that everything is Ok, they get to stay with the rest of my cats.

Cat Food And Cat Treats

Your ferals will get tame quicker if you feed them cat treats they love, and you talk to them gently and never yell at them. If your cat does not like a specific brand of cat food, do not try to make them eat it. A cat will most likely starve before it eats food that it does not like. When switching cat food brands, always make sure the tried and true brand is still available for them to eat. Most pets learn rather quickly not to bite the hand that feeds them.

Talk Gently And Lovingly To Your Once Feral Cat That Is Now Tame

Food And Water Dishes

Scrub and wash out your cat’s food and water bowls. Being stuck on food can attract bugs and diseases. Your cat does not want to drink water from a dirty dish. Clean up next to food dishes, as some might have landed on the floor.

Towels And Bedding

Sometimes, your cat may throw up on his bedding or towels, which should be washed in hot water with plenty of detergents to prevent germs. When their beds get a lot of cat hair, I vacuum them out. Dirty towels will also attract bugs that may bite your cat. Clean up their hammocks and any place where they take catnaps.

Groom Your Cats

By grooming your cats regularly, they will feel better and look better. Their bedding and towels will not have hair all over them. I use a regular cat comb, brush, and grooming glove and rub the fur off by hand. Your cat will most likely purr away while you are grooming them. Regular grooming helps prevent fleas, and not letting your cats outdoors walk in long grass or areas wild animals might have walked through. Deer ticks can be in the long grass.

Litter Boxes

Keep your litter boxes clean. Throw out your old litter when it looks terrible and replace it with all-new litter. Scrub them with hot water and plenty of soap, or replace them with new ones. Automatic litter boxes have to be disassembled and scrubbed up. The sensors can stop working if you do not keep them clean. Remember to put new plastic liners in your automatic litter boxes. Dirty litter boxes will make a perfect breeding ground for fleas. Clean up the floor area where your litter boxes sit. Dirty litter on the floor is ideal for fleas to multiply quickly.

Cat Toys And Treat Dispensers

If your cat’s toys get dirty and are washable, wash them in hot water with soap. When toys get worn and look awful, dispose of them and buy new ones. Washing a catnip toy will ruin the smell of the catnip, and it may get moldy. Most treat dispensers are plastic, so I wash them with hot water and soap.

Clean Your Cat Equipment

Clean cat combs, brushes, food storage containers, litter box tools, and anything you use on or by your cat. Clean up cat carry containers.

Clean Up Your Cats Living Area

Dust and vacuum regularly. Vacuum your drapes, clean under your furniture, scrub your floors, and keep your carpet and rugs clean. I vacuum my furniture. You and your cats should be allergy-free by keeping your home extra clean. I have an air purifier in my home and run a dehumidifier in my basement and next door. Put new filters in your furnace every month, as that will reduce dust. Clean the filters on your dehumidifiers, as they will get cat hair on them. You and your cat will share a lovely, clean home.

Cats can be very fussy when it comes to their cat food preference. My cats like only one brand of cat food. They like various kinds of cat treats. If your store runs out of your brand of cat food, put the new brand in a dish next to their favorite cat, and the transition should go smoothly. Some cats will refuse to eat if they cannot get their way to the food their heart desires. Give them some tuna canned in water or one of their favorite cat foods until your store gets their food in stock. Cats have a way of getting what they want in life. I buy cat food without many fillers, ash, or byproducts. Buy the best cat food that you can afford for your feline friend, as it will add to their nine lives. Poor cat food can cause cancer, your cat to vomit, and bad-looking fur. Give your cat treats that help clean the tartar off of their teeth. A healthy, well-fed cat will have a bright, shiny coat and sparkling clear eyes. Your cat will thank you for many years when she is fed the best and pampered.

Cat Litter

There are many brands of cat litter on the market to choose from. I used the old-fashioned clay litter in flat plastic litter boxes, which worked well. My favorite brand is Tidy Cats. I use the Tidy cats’ litter in my automatic litter boxes. If I use the heavy-weight one, I have to put half the litter in the litter box so as not to burn out the motor. The lightweight litter works best for automatic litter boxes. I also like Arm and Hammer litter as it has good solid clumps that do not fall apart. I have used various brands of lightweight kitty litter in the automatic litter boxes, but Tidy Cats gets a paw up every single time. My cat Conrad gets an asthmatic attack from the glade-scented tidy cats. My cats also like to use litter with crushed walnut hulls. I have used cornlitter, wheat, newspaper, crystal, and others they did not care for. Cats like having a clean and fresh-smelling litter box, or some other area in your home could become a litter box, like your house plant or an empty box. When your cat gets older, you will need a litterbox on your main floor as your cat will not feel like going up and down the steps to the litter box. Get a litter box low to the ground so she can get in and out quickly with no trouble. The older your cat gets, the more often she will have to go, just like we do as we age. Do not scold a cat because it did not arrive at the litterbox on time. You will be in the same predicament sometime in your lifetime. Our cats want to please us, and we should try to please them with good food and a clean litter box. I hope you and your cat live in purrfect harmony.

Cats That Are Bullies

My New Cat is bullying my cat.

My cat Cali was the head cat of my other house for years. My new cat Winchester wanted to be the head cat. He would slap at Cali with his paws and upset her terribly. He then trained Mr. Gray to do the same thing he did. Cali got, so she was losing weight and did not want to eat much anymore. I tried various things to no avail to get Winchester to act like a gentleman. I locked Mr. Gray in the bathroom when he slapped Cali. Winchester knows how to open doors and had his friend Mr. Gray sprung from the toilet in about 20 minutes. Cali would eat squeeze-able tuna cat treats and not much of anything else. I took her into my house with my three gentle cats, and she has improved dramatically. She now weighs 10 lbs., She loves being in my home and sitting on my lap. She likes being a hairdresser as she rubs my head with her feet and pulls her feet through my hair like a comb. I soon put an end to that as a little of that goes a long way. She is once again a happy and healthy cat.

Separating Your Cat Bully From Your Other Cats

Suppose you can put your cat bully in another room, let him out later, and see how they interact. You can try to reintroduce your cats. Lock up the cat that is the bully in a small room in your house and let him out in about a week and see how he behaves then. You may have to keep your cats separated if all else fails. The cat that is being bullied will get stressed out, and she will stop eating, using the litter box, and more, perhaps. If we were put in a house full of strangers, all of a sudden, we would also be a bit stressed out,

Create A Calm Area Or A Pleasant Area For Your Cat To Be Alone

Cats like to lay away from the other cats in your home when they can—cats like areas that are not noisy and do not like loud noises. Place different cat beds around your house, and your cat will find them and take many relaxing cat naps in them. Cats want to have cat toys to play with as this will take their mind off of other problems they may have. We want to read a good book, watch TV, or eat when stressed out. Talk to your cats, pat them on the head often, and keep them entertained with interactive cat toys. Ensure you pay more attention to your old cat than your new cat. You do not want your senior cat to get jealous, which will cause many problems. Pat, you’re a new cat when your old cat is not watching. Be patient with your cat bully, as it will take time for him to realize that you also love him if he is jealous. I hope you and your cats will live together in perfect harmony for many years.

Rolling Around In The Dirty Cat Litter

Cats will roll around in their kitty litter to take a dirt bath. Outdoor cats may move around in your garden or on your sidewalk as the dirt removes the excess oils in their hair. If your kitty litter has sand consistency, they will roll around in it, perhaps. Some cats put their scent in the litter box by moving around in the trash. I guess it is their way of saying they do not want any other cats in your household to use that litter box. Use corn-based, pine, or walnut cat litter to eliminate the problem. No one wants a cat sitting on their lap or sleeping in their bed that has had a litter box dust bath. Use waterless shampoo on your cat to clean him up. If you see him take a total kitty litter dust bath.

Why Did My Cat Pee On That?

Cats pee on things to mark their territory. Cats will pee on a stranger’s clothing in your home if they do not like them for some reason. If you introduce a new female cat, some female cats will start peeing on things in your home. Your matriarch female cat wants to remain the female head cat of your home forever. Sometimes cats will start peeing on your large houseplants if they do not think their kitty litter is clean enough or it does not live up to their standards as far as kitty litter goes. Never change kitty litter brands without leaving their old brand out, as they may refuse to use the new brand of cat litter. Toms pee on things to mark their territory. Cat may stake their claim to something by peeing on it.

Licking Their Hair Off

Your at may have allergies and is therefore licking off his hair. A cat with fleas will lick its hair off as it is itching, and its skin is irritated from the biting fleas. A nervous cat may lick off almost all its inches in one area of its body. A cat under stress can exhibit this kind of behavior. Give your cat a bath with a product that your Vet recommends for this problem.

Why Is My Cat Scrunching Up His Nose

Your cat will turn up his nose if he smells something terrible or not to his liking. If you hold another cat, your cat may smell that on your clothes and turn up his nose. A cat may smell a gas leak in your home and turn up his nose to alert you to impending danger. If another cat rubs against my blue jeans, my other cat may turn up his nose to tell me he does not want me to pay so much attention to the other cat.

Bored Cat Behavior

Your cat may scratch your furniture or do something he knows you do not like to get your attention. Some cats will play chase with their tail. Your cat may lay on your bookwork because they feel you have been spending too much time on it that could have been spent on them. Cats are very jealous and loving pets. I cannot imagine life without a cat or two or three or more in it.

All cats are immensely scared to death of vacuum cleaners. They must think the vacuum is a huge aggressive animal that will get the better of them. Cats are also afraid of turtles, cucumbers, bananas, and apples. Cats do not like to take baths since they fear water. I used to bathe my Siamese cat as it helps control pet dander and allergies. She would meow very loudly, stating that she disapproved of taking a bath.

Cats Are Scared of Many Different Things

A cat that is afraid might lose control of its bladder, vomit or stop using the litter box. Cats do not like to be followed around by you as it must remind them of a predator stalking them. Let your cat lead you. Lousy weather scares most cats, and they will run and hide under something. Loud music, people arguing, and someone ringing your doorbell will upset your cat. My cats think a stranger is coming when they hear a doorbell on TV and get nervous and upset.

Cats Pick Up On Your Body Language

Cats pick up on your body language quickly, and if you are nervous or anxious, your cat will be, also. For a calm cat, you must remain calm. Cats are scared when a new piece of furniture enters your home. Place something familiar on the new foreign object that has entered your home, and your cat will feel comfortable with the new item.

Cats Know When You Are Going To Take Them To The Vet.

Cats know when you are trying to catch them and take them to the vet. They will hide, maybe wet themselves, vomit, and meow very loudly. One of my cats was drooling when he arrived at my vet’s office, and my vet said he was extra nervous. I talk to my cats very calmly and softly while they go to the vet’s office, which seems to help relax them most of the time. One of my house cats, Russ, died next door. Some of my other cats were traumatized by seeing Russ die. My other cats started wetting on their towels and vomiting. After about one month, my other cats were acting normal again.

Cats never forget an abusive owner. They will stay away from that person as much as possible. Never harm or injure a defenseless animal. Some cats prefer men, and other cats prefer women for owners. If a man abused them, naturally, they would like to have a woman for an owner or vice versa.

Cats Do Not Like Changes In Their Daily Routine

Cats do not like changes in their daily routine and are agitated when changes occur. Moving to a new home or the death of someone in your home can be traumatic for your cat. They do not like to be left alone when you go on a trip. Cats will let you know they disapprove of you leaving them. When I returned home from my travels, one of my house cats used to have my paperwork all over the floor. He finally stopped doing that as he got older.

We ll fear something at different times in our lives, so why should our cats be any other than us? Be calm and patient with your dear feline friends. God bless you and your feline friends.

My Cats Favorite Kitty Litters

My cats prefer clumping cat litter that does not get stuck to their paws. Clumping cat litter tends to smell better for longer than non-clumping cat litter. Cats are very meticulous, and they love clean and fresh-smelling litter boxes.

My cats like Tidy Cats Kitty litter. The Tidy Cats litter smells suitable for a very long time. Tidy Cats also comes in a lightweight cat litter that is much easier to carry and transport. My cat next door also likes the Tidy cat’s disposable litter box. I have used Tidy Cats litter for many years with no issues whatsoever.

My cats like the World’s Best Cat litter with a pleasant corn smell. They also like Arm & Hammer cat litter, which is straightforward to remove from the litter box. My cats also like Mills Fleet Farm’s lightweight kitty litter. Wheat Scoop cat litter is an Eco-friendly cat litter that smells like freshly harvested corn. They like Fresh Step cat litter also.

My Pet Safe litter box uses crystal cat litter which my house cats like. The debris lasted for about 20 days with my three house cats. I use Tidy cat’s lightweight clumping litter in my Litter – Robot litter box. I use a variety of kitty litter in my Catit litter boxes.

I used some Mills Fleet Farm kitty litter today, and all my cats deposited that litter box. I also put Worlds Best Cat litter in my house’s cat litter ox, and my cats used that litter box in short order. I always use Tidy Cats’ lightweight kitty litter in the Litter-Robot. My house cats always use the Pet Safe litter box, also with the crystal kitty litter.

My cats like their favorite kitty litter and never have any litter box issues when I use their favorite cat litter.
