I purchased Zachary, my pet goat, from a party that raised goats in Thornton, Iowa. He came to live with me as a very young goat. I put him in a building with two cats because I wanted him to get along with them.

We had a dog that was a part miniature lab, a dachshund, and a rat terrier, and her name was Jitters. Jitters and Zachary got along well together. Jitter was a brilliant small dog. She won every prize at a dog show at TSC except for one tip. A puppy won that prize. She would jump into my father’s arms on command, shake hands, and roll over; she loved cats.

My cat Tabatha had her kittens in Jitter’s dog house, and when she left for a while, Jitters was the head babysitter. She watched over those kittens as if they were her offspring. The kittens would come running out of the dog house in the morning, followed by Tabatha and Jitters.

Zachary would jump on our windowsills and look at us while preparing breakfast in the morning. Jitters and Tabatha would be waiting for their fried eggs, oatmeal, and regular morning food. Where one went, they would all go.

When Zach was very young, the two kittens he grew up with the thought, let’s play a trick on the goat. They left him in the cornfield by himself. My Father and I found him in short order as we heard him bleating in the area, and he rode home with us in the pickup. We could not find Zach at one time. He was quick, and he sneaked into our house. We kept calling him outdoors to no avail. We went into our home, and he was standing in the middle of the living room, and luckily, nothing was damaged or soiled.

They would all go out hunting together. Tabatha and Jitters would stay in the ditch and hunt for mice. Zachary would veer off into the cornfield and eat the ear corn left behind by the combine. One time Jitters caught a mouse, and Tabatha got it away from her. Tabatha tried to get her kittens to eat it, but they were too young yet to know what to do with it. Jitters got her mouse back and had her appetizer for the day.

Once they got on the blacktop by my place, a lovely woman herded them back to my site. She got out of her car and said I assume this is where they live I said yes and thanked her. However, she did not herd Tabatha because you can never herd a cat. Tabatha came back all on her own.

Zachary and Tabatha, and Jitters had many fun adventures together. They were beautiful and loving pets. Tabatha lived to be seven years old. Jitters lived to 14 years old. Zachary lived to be 16.3 years old. I am sure they are having fun adventures in heaven. God Bless our beloved pets.

My house cats love to lay on my bed and look out my window at the birds in the trees and bushes. They sort through their toy box daily to pick a cat toy to toss and throw around in the air. Conrad’s favorite toy is a singing bird cat toy at the moment. He loves tossing it in the air again and again.

I have several bird feeders by my picture window. Put out a large variety of different mixtures of bird seed to attract a large variety of birds. I also put out suet or suet balls from my local grocery store as suet attracts the woodpeckers. My cats watch the following birds: sparrows, blue jays, blackbirds, chickadees, house finches, cardinals, goldfinches, starlings, crows, and woodpeckers.

My name is Kohl, and I lay on my Mother’s pillow and meow away in her ear. I find my method of waking up my human very effective indeed. My human gets annoyed when I give her my idea of a permanent in the morning. I need away at her hair and comb through it with my teeth. She gets her fill of my cat perm in a hurry, gets out of bed, and tends to all my needs and desires. I demand fresh water in the morning. I stare and the water dish, and she fills it with lovely fresh water for me to drink ASAP. I have her trained perfectly.

My name is Garfunkel, and I lay closer and closer to my human Mother until she cannot stand the heat radiating from my little body any longer and she gets out of bed. I also use another method, as you always need a plan B. I lick and lick away at my human hands and arms. She gets out of bed and cleans our litter boxes, and I make sure I am the first cat to use the cleaned-out litter box in the morning. My human was straightforward to train.

My name is Conrad, and I sleep by my Mother’s feet all night. I am part Siamese, so I let that part of me shine through in the morning. I call out to my human Mother in a shrill Siamese voice that could wake the dead in the morning, and if she did not wake up with that, I would have to call 911. I walk up by her face in the morning as I like it when she pats me on the head and holds me c; I lose to her for a little while.

We love our human and try to please her as much as she pleases us. We are fortunate to have each other and be in a loving and caring home. God Bless you, humans, for caring for us and letting us train you perfectly.

My Mother had a cat years ago that jumped onto the top of a wood-burning stove, and she burned the bottom of her paws. Their cat let out a horrible wailing sound. They put Vaseline on the bottom of her feet, and she healed quickly from her wood-burning stove ordeal.

I had a half-grown cat ride on top of my car’s gas tank to the college I was attending, about a twenty-minute drive from where I live. I noticed my cat sitting on a tire in between my classes. I told the secretary at the college my predicament, and she gave me a box to put my cat in. It was Sept., and I did not have to worry about him getting overcome with heat by being in my car. He stayed in the box until my last class. I noticed him looking out of my back window. We drove home, and he jumped out with no effects from his adventurous day of travel.

I have had house cats climb trees when I let them out for a while. One of my cats stayed in the tree even though it started raining outside. When she was soaking wet, she decided to come in and gave me a look that could kill me. I told her I tried to get you in, but you would not come.

I have had friends tell me that their outdoor cats had got their heads stuck in a can, jar, hot dog wrapper, etc. Luckily, they all immediately noticed their cat’s predicaments before they suffocated to death. They used a can opener and butter to get the can off their cat’s head. They very carefully broke the jar off their cat’s head with a hammer, and the hog dog wrapper only required scissors to remove from Fluff’s head.

I hope all of you and your feline friends successfully get out of your predicaments.

Conrad My 8 to 5 Cat

I was supposed to have Conrad at my vet by 8:30 AM. I tried to catch Conrad at 7:30 AM, and he was nowhere to be found. I also saw Kohl at 7:45 AM as he needed a distemper shot. I went to my other house and caught Bella and Cali immediately.

I started looking for Conrad again. I went upstairs to the basement and could not find Conrad anywhere. I looked back at the furniture under furniture and on top of the table, and still, no Conrad to be seen.

I took the three cats I could catch to my vet for their shots. I told him I could not find Conrad. I tried to locate Conrad when I got home, but he was still nowhere to be seen. Kohl sat on my lap after we got home from the vet. I read a history book for a while and then looked for Conrad again. It was 1:30 PM by now. I picked up a few items in town. I visited some people in the Rest Home.

I went outside and got some of my yard equipment ready to go. I cleaned out my cat litter boxes for the second time. I tilled my garden, and I planted some seed potatoes. I returned to the house and looked for Conrad again, and could not find him anywhere; it was 4 PM by now.

At precisely 5 PM, Conrad appeared out of the blue and looked at me like what are you going to do now, lady? The vet’s office is closed for the day. I swear Conrad can tell time somehow, and he is genuinely my 8 to 5 cat.

We will go to the vet next week, and Conrad will be surprised. I will catch him at 6 AM. I will store the cage in the room where I will see him three days before our vet appointment. I hope you and your cat are on time for your next vet appointment.

I caught Conrad this morning after he complained to me and hid under my bed for a while. He hid on the back of a card table, and I could grab him by the nap of his neck and put him in my cat carrier. I called my vet, and we got right in. Conrad got his distemper shot and his worm medicine. Conrad decided his visit to the vet was not that bad after all. Conrad rode in the front of my vehicle, where he could keep an eye on me while I drove. Conrad said the visit to the vet was worth all of his trouble in the long run as it would hopefully keep him in excellent health.

Conrad and the Cuckoo Clock

I had my Cuckoo Clock repaired, and it did not work on the wall where it used to work. My clock repair man told me to move it to another wall.

I moved the Cuckoo Clock to another wall, and it would work for 11 or 26 hours and then stop. There was no rhyme or reason for my clock’s erratic behavior. I checked to make sure the watch was level, which it was. One day my clock stopped after two hours; I was highly frustrated with my Cuckoo Clock.

Conrad, my youngest house cat, loves watching birds eat out of my bird feeders. He loves to play with cat toy birds that sing or make a noise.

Conrad could not reach my Cuckoo Clock, which used to hang on the wall. The new location for my Cuckoo Clock was next to the bookcase in my dining room. I was reading a book one day in my living room when I saw Conrad jump on top of the bookcase and stop the pendulum of the Cuckoo Clock with his paw so the pendulum would not hit him in the head as he tried to remove the singing bird from my Cuckoo Clock. I told Conrad to stop and jump down from the bookcase, which he did.

Conrad is very clever. He waits until I am outdoors before he stops the clock. Conrad has finally lost his fascination with the wooden bird in the Cuckoo Clock, and the bird can come out directly to announce the hour and the half-hour without worrying about Conrad dismantling him.

I told my clock repair man to ask people if they have a cat before he repairs their Cuckoo Clock. He got a chuckle when I said to him that Conrad was the cat burglar; my Cuckoo Clock is glad it can still announce the hour and the half-hour without Conrad’s help.
