Keep Your Cats Items Extra Clean

Food And Water Dishes

Scrub and wash out your cat’s food and water bowls. Being stuck on food can attract bugs and diseases. Your cat does not want to drink water from a dirty dish. Clean up next to food dishes, as some might have landed on the floor.

Towels And Bedding

Sometimes, your cat may throw up on his bedding or towels, which should be washed in hot water with plenty of detergents to prevent germs. When their beds get a lot of cat hair, I vacuum them out. Dirty towels will also attract bugs that may bite your cat. Clean up their hammocks and any place where they take catnaps.

Groom Your Cats

By grooming your cats regularly, they will feel better and look better. Their bedding and towels will not have hair all over them. I use a regular cat comb, brush, and grooming glove and rub the fur off by hand. Your cat will most likely purr away while you are grooming them. Regular grooming helps prevent fleas, and not letting your cats outdoors walk in long grass or areas wild animals might have walked through. Deer ticks can be in the long grass.

Litter Boxes

Keep your litter boxes clean. Throw out your old litter when it looks terrible and replace it with all-new litter. Scrub them with hot water and plenty of soap, or replace them with new ones. Automatic litter boxes have to be disassembled and scrubbed up. The sensors can stop working if you do not keep them clean. Remember to put new plastic liners in your automatic litter boxes. Dirty litter boxes will make a perfect breeding ground for fleas. Clean up the floor area where your litter boxes sit. Dirty litter on the floor is ideal for fleas to multiply quickly.

Cat Toys And Treat Dispensers

If your cat’s toys get dirty and are washable, wash them in hot water with soap. When toys get worn and look awful, dispose of them and buy new ones. Washing a catnip toy will ruin the smell of the catnip, and it may get moldy. Most treat dispensers are plastic, so I wash them with hot water and soap.

Clean Your Cat Equipment

Clean cat combs, brushes, food storage containers, litter box tools, and anything you use on or by your cat. Clean up cat carry containers.

Clean Up Your Cats Living Area

Dust and vacuum regularly. Vacuum your drapes, clean under your furniture, scrub your floors, and keep your carpet and rugs clean. I vacuum my furniture. You and your cats should be allergy-free by keeping your home extra clean. I have an air purifier in my home and run a dehumidifier in my basement and next door. Put new filters in your furnace every month, as that will reduce dust. Clean the filters on your dehumidifiers, as they will get cat hair on them. You and your cat will share a lovely, clean home.

Fall Cleanup

Fall Cleanup

Outdoor Cleanup

I pull up all of the old plants in my garden and use them for compost. I put fertilizer in my garden and work it into my garden soil. It is now time to clean up all of the tools and gently oil them and store them away for the winter season. I put fresh oil in my garden equipment, ensuring all my batteries are charged and working correctly on my vehicles. Check the anti-freeze in your cars, as you do not want your engines to freeze up and cost you thousands of dollars to fix them. I wash and wax my vehicles, including lawnmowers and tractors. That way, the salt will not ruin your truck over the winter months. I wax my garage doors, air conditioner, and other metal objects exposed to the elements. Sweep out your buildings and throw away or recycle items you no longer use stored in your facilities. Oil door hinges or locks are in prime working order for the cold weather.

Indoor Cleaning

Clean each room in your home thoroughly and eliminate all items you have not used in a long time. Now is an excellent time to add extra insulation to your attic. I love painting and staining in the fall as the weather is cooler. Paint anything on or in your home or buildings that need attention so it will not rot out over the winter. Clean up cupboards, closets, chests of drawers, storage areas, or bins, and weed out those old unused items that are just collecting dust over the years. Clean your stove and refrigerator with a good cleanser. Have your carpet steam and your drapes cleaned, and your upholstery cleaned by professionals. Make sure you put fresh furnace filters in your furnace once a month and a new humidifier filter in your humidifier.

Tree Care

Now is an excellent time to trim your trees or remove dead ones from your property. Trees need to be cut and maintained to prevent them from getting a disease that could kill the entire tree. It would be best if you constantly trimmed fruit trees after they are done producing fruit and never cut off too many branches in a year, as you could kill the fruit tree. Cut and trim maple trees when the weather is cold, and the sap will not run out when trimmed, as you could kill the tree.

Pet Care

Have your pet’s living area all cleaned up. Ensure that heated beds, heaters, and water dishes are clean and in prime working order. Wash the floors, bedding, words, and litter boxes. Take your cats to the Vet for distemper and rabies shots if they have not had them yet this year. You want your pets to be healthy enough to survive the cold winter weather. I hope you and your pets have a fantastic fall and winter.

Fall Cleaning And Equipment Storage Care

Fall Cleaning And Equipment Storage Care

How To Get Your Equipment Ready For Storage

I drain all the gas from my weed whackers and chainsaws. I run them dry, then put them away until I get them ready for the next season. I put fresh oil in my snowblowers and garden tiller. I always check the anti-freeze in my lawnmowers, tractors, and vehicles to make sure the anti-freeze is at least -20 below. I check it with a little bulb and tube with balls in it, and the more balls that rise to the top, the better off you are. I ensure everything is greased and the tires have the correct pressure. I put fresh oil in my power generators, so I can run a few things in my house if the power goes out. Make sure the batteries are fully charged in all your equipment, and start them up occasionally on warm days to keep the batteries up. Batteries will lose their charge quickly in cold weather. If you do not use the equipment for a long time, put a battery charger on it so you will not have to purchase a new battery on the coldest day of the year.

Furnace Care

Have your furnace cleaned and checked over every year before winter starts. If you do not, your furnace will likely quit working on the coldest day of the year. Put a new furnace filter in your furnace often, as a dirty filter causes your furnace to work harder and wear out much quicker. If you have a humidifier, put a fresh filter in it as a limed-up filter will not let the moisture through to your rooms.

Waxing Your Equipment And vehicles

Waxed equipment will not rust out quickly. I put high-quality wax on my gear and vehicles. A top-quality resin will stop rust from forming and protect your vehicle from salt that they put on the roads in the winter. I also wax the windshield as it helps displace water more quickly. If you have leather seats, put a leather conditioner on them so they will not dry out and crack. Remember always to clean the undercarriage of your equipment, as rust can form there very quickly.

Fall Cleaning Inside And Outside

Clean out your kitchen cupboards and remove items just taking up space. Move and clean under furniture, and put lemon oil on wood furniture so it will not dry out and show cracks in the wood. Clean out the medicine cabinet and get rid of expired medicines. Wash all of the bedding and curtains. Wash and wax wooden floors. Get your carpet shampooed. Clean curio cabinets and the chest of drawers and storage areas. Give your bathroom a complete cleaning: dust bookcases and dust off books. Clean your basement floor and storage sleeves. Sweep out your garage and dispose of unwanted chemicals at your local landfill. Sweep and clean out farm buildings. Make sure all of the light bulbs are working in your outdoor facilities. Clean the windows in your home and your buildings. Get painting and repair work done outdoors before winter sets in. Remember to weed things out and remove something every time you do fall cleaning. Uncluttered and maintained homes and buildings look fantastic when taken care of correctly. I hope you are ready for winter to descend upon us.
