Cats know when you are not feeling well. My cats will lay by my side and gently purr away. I have three house cats, who take turns watching over me when I am under the weather. When one cat leaves for a while, another quickly fills the empty spot.

Cats have compassion for one another. If one cat is not feeling up to Parr, another cat will lie down as close as possible to his sick friend. Female cats will help care for each other’s kittens. I observed one female cat catching a mouse to feed another female cat’s kittens.

Cats have been known to nurse baby puppies, opossums, ferrets, and other small animals. One cat had adopted three baby squirrels that she raised and her four kittens. Cats have been burned badly in a fire trying to save all of their kittens. Unfortunately, many cats have awakened their owners to let them know there is a fire in their house, only to succumb to the fire themselves. Cats have alerted their owners to gas leaks and much more.

Cats will lie next to people dying in a rest home. It is the cat’s way of comforting them in their final moments. When my Mother died, my Siamese cat Sugar would sit on the bathtub’s edge and cry out or wail for one straight week. She remembered my Mother would buy cat food for her and other goodies and take her to her vet visits when she was sick.

I had one cat raised in a vet’s office, and rodents were not to be killed as they were someone’s pets. My other cat saw a mouse and intended to have brunch. My cat, raised in the vet’s office, embraced the mouse by encircling it with his feet. My other cat was in shock, thinking, Isn’t we supposed to kill those?

Cats care for their owners very much, and we care for our feline friends very much. Cats show compassion for each other and other animals. Cats comfort those in need of comfort and show great empathy.

A common behavioral issue is for your cat to start peeing on something. If you purchase a new cat bed that a particular cat in your house likes, he may pee on it if another cat sleeps. When they pee on something, they mark it with their scent and show the other cats it is off-limits to them. UN – neutered male cats are unsuitable in your house as they love to mark their territory as it is part of nature’s way with them. A cat may pee on a new boyfriend’s coat because your cat wants all of your attention and is jealous. If two female cats are in your house, one may start peeing on things to show the other cat she is the house’s matriarch. If your cat pees on something, get rid of it or clean it but do not replace it with a new one right away, as that may be what they want if it is a cat bed.

Some cats stop using the litter box if you add another cat to your household. Cats do not like any change in their daily routine whatsoever. Your cat may use a house plant as a litter box. Introduce a new cat into your home slowly. Put the new cat in an enclosed room for five days where the other cats can smell him, and he can smell them. Your cats should get along fine when you use this method, and the litter box should not be a problem.

Some cats pull out their fur or lick the hair off. They may have a nervous condition or a skin problem that your Vet should address. Your cat could have fleas if he keeps itching away, and he should be treated with flea treatment medicine.

Cats do not like anything new to come into the house; having a new couch or chair in a room can upset them terribly. I put a cushion from the old sofa on the new one, so it has that old familiar smell. Place an old blanket on a new piece of furniture, to smell like it has always been in your home. I hope your feline friends will not have any behavioral issues and you have smooth sailing ahead.

The older we get, the less we like changes. We all have our daily routines. We want to try new things and must be patient with adapting to contemporary electronics. Be patient with your friends and your feline friends.

I clean out all of my cat litter boxes to start with. I fill my cat’s water dish with fresh water. More cat food is put in their food dishes. I give my cats a pat on the head. I fluff up their bedding and clean up any mess that might have happened at night.

I clean up any cat mess the moment I see it. I use a carpet cleaner or wood floor cleaner. I also use Clorox depending on the surface that needs cleaning. The faster you clean up a mess, the easier it is to clean up, as it has not set in yet. I clean up their bedding in a washing machine I have in my basement for cat use only. Beds that cannot be placed in the washing machine must be spot cleaned. I try to avoid buying cat beds that cannot be placed in a washing machine.

I like to brush or comb out my cats’ hair, so they do not get matted. A combed-out cat is less likely to have hairballs that they scarf up. If your cat has claws keep them trimmed up as the foot could get stuck in something they could not get free of without damaging themselves.

I sweep up any spilled cat food and throw it outdoors, as many wild animals and birds can enjoy eating it. I sweep around the litter boxes and clean them out twice a day. Dirty litter boxes or floors by the litter box are a perfect breeding ground for fleas.

Check your cat’s teeth often, as bad teeth could kill your cat shortly. If there is a sudden change in your cat’s behavior or pattern, keep a close eye on them, as it could quickly become a medical emergency. I spray Lysol on the floor by the litter boxes to kill any germs that could harbor there.

I hope you and your cat have many happy and healthy years ahead. The time you spend on the chores for your cat will lengthen his life and give you joy as you are helping your feline family member.

Many coyotes in the country and the woods could kill or injure your cat severely. Your cat could get into poisons. Many cats get run over on the roads. A wild animal with rabies could bite your cat.

Poisons and Chemicals

If a neighbor leaves his garage door open and has mouse poison in his garage, your cat could eat it. Mouse poison will send your cat into convolutions if ingested. Your cat will bleed out and have an excruciating death. Antifreeze will kill your cat as it will shut down its kidneys. Motor oil, grease, chemicals, gas, diesel fuel, and certain plants are very toxic to your cat.

Plants

Cats will vomit if they eat certain plants, and many Christmas plants and bushes are toxic. Ask your local nursery or plant store if the item you wish to purchase is safe for your cat because all cats like to nibble on plants. Do not let your cat outdoors if your lawn has been sprayed for at least 24 hrs., as cats love to munch on grass.

Cars

House cats have no idea about the danger that cars pose to them. Cats like to curl up on the warm motor of a car or sit on top of the car tires. When you start your vehicle, always look on top of your tires if your cat is outdoors. Many cats have died by being hit by cars, and sadistic people try to run over them.

Birds of Prey

Large birds of prey can kill your kittens or even your adult cat. I saw an Eagle take off with a kitten in his mouth, and then he dropped it on the road, and it was dead. Dogs have been known to kill many cats over the years.

Fleas

Fleas can be picked up by your cat outdoors, along with ticks. They bite and bite your cat, and treatments are expensive. You can get fleas from your cat and have your house treated to rid yourself of the infestation. Ear mites can be picked up outdoors, also.

Keep an Eye on Your Cats

If you let your house cat out, keep a constant eye on him; many dangers could take all of his nine lives. Watch your farm cats also. I like to take a head count of my cats daily, and if one is missing, I look for them immediately.

Cats like certain brands and flavors of foods just like we do. Your cat may be allergic to something in the cat food. Depending on where your cat food is manufactured, it might have a contaminant that may make your cat very ill or even kill it if he keeps eating it. Observe your cat’s behavior when you present him with a new brand or flavor of cat food. If he gets sick eating it, throw it away, and never try to make your cat eat it.

If your cat is purging up its cat food, it is probably the new cat food that is at fault. Sometimes if your cat has bad teeth or gulps his food, he will purge his meal. I try to stick to well-known brands of cat foods for all of my feline friends.

Some of my cats like certain kinds of cat snacks better than others. Some of my cats are poultry lovers, and others are fish lovers. Specific shapes of cat food or snacks are more accessible for your cat to swallow than other shapes. I prefer the smaller cat snacks for my cats as they can swallow them up quickly with no difficulty.

My cats love canned tuna in water and their canned cat food. I give my cats dry cat food that is made in the USA. I also show my cats dental treats to help them keep their pearly whites. My cats like to eat some dried catnip now and then. Ensure the catnip has not been sprayed with chemicals, which could be toxic to your cat.

If your cat keeps on purging and you have not given him anything different to eat, take him to your VET ASAP, as he could have a severe illness that could KILL him.

Remember, we cannot eat certain foods, so why would our feline friends be any different? Give your cat what he likes and wants to eat in moderation, as you do not want an obese feline friend.

My Cats Favorite Kitty Litters

My cats prefer clumping cat litter that does not get stuck to their paws. Clumping cat litter tends to smell better for longer than non-clumping cat litter. Cats are very meticulous, and they love clean and fresh-smelling litter boxes.

My cats like Tidy Cats Kitty litter. The Tidy Cats litter smells suitable for a very long time. Tidy Cats also comes in a lightweight cat litter that is much easier to carry and transport. My cat next door also likes the Tidy cat’s disposable litter box. I have used Tidy Cats litter for many years with no issues whatsoever.

My cats like the World’s Best Cat litter with a pleasant corn smell. They also like Arm & Hammer cat litter, which is straightforward to remove from the litter box. My cats also like Mills Fleet Farm’s lightweight kitty litter. Wheat Scoop cat litter is an Eco-friendly cat litter that smells like freshly harvested corn. They like Fresh Step cat litter also.

My Pet Safe litter box uses crystal cat litter which my house cats like. The debris lasted for about 20 days with my three house cats. I use Tidy cat’s lightweight clumping litter in my Litter – Robot litter box. I use a variety of kitty litter in my Catit litter boxes.

I used some Mills Fleet Farm kitty litter today, and all my cats deposited that litter box. I also put Worlds Best Cat litter in my house’s cat litter ox, and my cats used that litter box in short order. I always use Tidy Cats’ lightweight kitty litter in the Litter-Robot. My house cats always use the Pet Safe litter box, also with the crystal kitty litter.

My cats like their favorite kitty litter and never have any litter box issues when I use their favorite cat litter.

Cat Health Problems

I adopted a cat with bad teeth. I had several of her teeth pulled over the years. She would rub and paw away at her face. I looked in her mouth and discovered she had terrible teeth. The vet pulled her bad teeth out, and it took her about two days to eat moist cat food. She was able to eat the hard cat food in about five days.

When your cat gets fleas, it will scratch away at its face, body, ears, etc. I prefer the flea treatments you place on the nape of your cat’s neck. A cat can get fleas from old kitty litter that is not changed often enough or a floor or carpet that is not kept clean. Make sure your cat’s bedding and litter boxes get cleaned thoroughly. Do not let your cats in and out of the house in the late spring or fall before a killing frost, or they may bring unwanted fleas into your home.

Make sure your cat gets distemper shots and rabies shots, and more when needed. Make sure you have your cat wormed at your cat’s checkup also. I have a cat that was born with upper respiratory problems. I found a sinus medicine for him that seems to help. Cats can get urinary issues. If your male cat is howling in pain at the litter box, get him to the vet ASAP, as he will die from septic shock or kidney failure. If your cat gets worms, you may see them in the litter box, and your cat will be lazy and weak and have diarrhea. If your cat has diarrhea, try canned food with pumpkin or rice. If your cat does not get over diarrhea in two days, take him to your vet ASAP, as diarrhea can be severe.

Suppose your cat gets cut; try to stop the bleeding and call your vet ASAP. When a cat gets ear mites, I put some ear mite treatment in its ears, and it stops shaking and scratching at its ears. If you suspect your cat has eaten or ingested something that may be poisonous, call your vet immediately; otherwise, your cat could die quickly. When a cat’s weight goes down quickly, there is some underlying cause, and it should be taken to the vet. The older your cat gets, he will need rest and quiet time. I hope you and your cat live nine lives.

Cats and Storms

My cats can get very upset when a storm is coming. My cats will run and hide in the basement. If my cats are in bed with me at night, they will meow nervously. My cats tend to lay as close to me in bed if it is thundering. I had one cat look up at the heavens when it grumbled loudly, and a tornado warning was issued. Suddenly, she ran to the basement, and I decided to follow suit. The winds were horrific, and I lost large branches from the trees and the roof of one of my buildings. The cats and I were OK.

I have trained my cats to run down to the basement when I call them. Cat Treats are an excellent way to train your cat. You do not have time to locate all your cats when a tornado rapidly approaches your home. All I have to do is call my cats with a sense of urgency in my voice, and they join me safely in the basement of my home.

Animals have a keen sense of the weather, and one should always take their cues regarding the weather situation. My friend had a cat that ran under her couch when they issued a tornado warning on the radio. When they sounded all clear, she came out from under the couch one minute later.

My cats often move around in the basement when the winds are horrific. If my cats look out of a window, they watch the tree branches move back and forth. Their tails swing rapidly back and forth as they state their distaste for the weather through their wild tail movement. Listen to your cats’ keen sense of weather changes. I had an outdoor cat that needed her rabies and distemper shots. She seemed to know that I wanted to bring her to the vet and she was dead set against it. I put canned cat food in a live animal trap and she would not go near it. I have caught a lot of cats with canned tuna in water but not her. I tried all different kinds of cat treats and food to no avail. My friend had a left over piece of Walleye fish that I placed in the live animal trap and that did the trick. The Walleye fish was something she had never eaten before and her curiosity got the best of her. She had no trouble at the vet and my mission was finally accomplished. Try something new and different for your cat to eat if you are having trouble catching them.

A fish net works good while your cat is eating. I place the net over the cat while they are busy eating and grab them my the nape of their neck and then I transfer them to their pet carrier. You can place the net on one side of the building they are resting in and the cage on the other end. Your cat will either end up in the net or in the cage.

I had one cat that I had tried to catch and I finally just placed the cage where she was resting and she just walked right in. I was shocked that she just walked right in her pet carrier. Never pull a cat out of a cage they do not like that kind of behavior and they will bite you. Let your cat walk out of his cage on his own or gradually lift the cage up so he can walk out on his own. I put the cage on end when I place my cats in the cage. I put the back end of my cat in first which works a lot easier then placing their head in the cage first.

All of your pets would have to be treated or in great misery scratching and biting away at the fleas that could have been prevented altogether if you had just used Revolution, to begin with. You will be in pain as fleas bite your legs, and you will be scratching and itching like your feline friends. I know about flea infestations because I once had a tenant that left my house flea infested, and what a nightmare that was.
