A first-time mother cat may abandon her kittens because she has not yet learned how to care for them. Most of my cats have always cared for their kittens by the time they are two years old.

I have had a mother cats carry one kitten away. A mother cat will carry a sickly kitten away and abandon it to save the rest of her healthy litter of kittens. I have tried to put the kitten she has carried off back with the other kittens. Most of the time, the kitten that I put back has died.

A mother cat naturally knows if one of her kittens is sick and will not make it. I have had mother cats move all of their kittens except one kitten. They moved the healthy kittens to a different building with an area that had clean straws.

Mother cats may abandon all of their kittens if they are not feeling well. Your cat may not produce enough milk to feed her kittens.

If your mother cat gets frightened by strange people or wild animals entering the area where her kittens are, she may abandon them. Cats do not like any sudden changes in their environment or their surroundings. Try to keep strangers away from a mother cat and her kittens, as this may upset her terribly.

A mother cat always tries to care for her kittens to the best of her ability. She will naturally abandon one that is sickly. She does not want the disease that one kitten has to spread to her healthy kittens and kill them off by the disease entering their bodies. Mother cats are very protective of their young.

Next time you see a mother cat abandoning a kitten, you will know she has a good reason for doing so.

My Cats & Their Relationships With Other People

Some of my cats are very friendly and outgoing. I have some cats that are very Leary of other people and like to be by themselves. Cats are very independent creatures and warm up to other people on their terms and conditions.

I have cats that love to pick up by other people, and they love to be patted and scratched under their chin. My Calico cat Cali loves all people and will not leave them alone until they pat her on the head and hold her for a while. Russ is a light cream-colored cat who is very affectionate and loving. Faith is a gray and white tabby cat that loves to rub across your legs and for you to hold her while she purrs and purrs away.

Peter, Hilford, and Sherlock are very Leary of all people. If a cat’s parents are Leary of other people, their kittens seem to inherit that trait. Lizzie and Onyx are the parents of Peter, Nicole, and Conrad. Onyx and Lizzie are outdoor cats that have not been socialized with people, so they tend to be very Leary of all people.

It is essential to interact with kittens when they are very young to get them socialized with humans early in their lives, or they may always be on the wild side. Play games with your kittens, hold them, pat them on their head, and talk very softly and gently to them, and they will turn out to be very loving and social as adult felines.

Cats get very close to their owner and tend to be a bit Leary of people they don’t know. When I hand my cat to another person to hold and pat on the head, I stay in an area where my cat can always see me, and then she feels more at ease with the new person holding her.

Kohl My Ease Dropping Tom Cat

My friend and I were visiting on the phone; I asked her what all that noise was in the background. I said I did not know it must be on her end of the line. It sounded like a bell going off at times and someone hitting something while we were talking on the phone. There was not as much background noise if we did not say much. It sounded like chimes at one point during our conversation. My friend said is that your grandfather’s clock, I said, no, I was at the opposite end of the house from where the watches were located.

As we continued to talk on the phone, it sounded like someone tapping a pencil and a bell dinging at times. We finally hung up as it was hard to visit with all that background noise.

I went to the other room because it sounded like a phone was off the hook. Sure enough, the other cordless phone turned on was making all of the noise with Kohl’s help while my friend and I were visiting on the phone. Kohl had turned the phone on with his paw and did not like the noise, so he kept hitting the phone with his foot. The bell was a clock with a bell for the half hour, and the chime noise was indeed my grandfather’s clock.

I called my friend back and said that the noise had been caused by Kohl, my eavesdropping Tom’s cat. She thanked me for calling her back. Case solved perpetrator Kohl the eavesdropping Tomcat.

Cats watch us do things and catch on very quickly, sometimes for our benefit and sometimes to our detriment. Cats have watched their owners play the piano, do yoga poses, and much more, and they copy what they have observed their owners do. Your child will learn to care for and nurture one of God’s beautiful creatures. Your children will learn to be responsible when caring for a pet. Children will learn that their pet relies on them for comfort and nourishment. Your pet will love your child unconditionally.

Pets are good companions as they can turn unpleasant and comfortable days. A cat will purr away on your lap and snuggle up close to you. Birds will sing delightful songs to you that will brighten your day. A dog will look at you through their kind and loving eyes as if to say tomorrow will be a much better day for you, my friend. A Guinea pig will make their little calling sound when you come home from work or school. Gerbils will entertain you as they spin around on their exercise wheel in their cage. I find fish relaxing to watch as they swim back and forth in their aquarium. I had a pet goat that was very kind and loving; he would greet me in the morning with a soft and gentle bah.

My cats sleep on my bed at night and snuggle up close to me, and when I pat them on their head, they purr and purr away, which I find very comforting and relaxing. When you do not feel good, a cat rests on your lap or sits beside you. Cats are excellent little caregivers. Cats keep any rodents out of your home. Dogs bark and scare away unwanted visitors or other wild animals.

Pets lower our blood pressure and put us in a better frame of mind. Pets make our lives less lonely as they are a fantastic company. Children who are mean to pets or harm them will grow up to treat people the same way they have treated their pets. Parents, watch their children interact with pets; they will learn much about your child’s behavior.

I hope you and your pets form a solid and lasting bond and that you learn valuable lessons from each other that will help you along life’s many journeys. God Bless you and your pets.

A Love For Cats

Humans have had an infatuation with cats from the beginning of time. The ancient Egyptians worshiped their Siamese cats. They mummified their cats and had them buried with them. Cats’ heads have the exact eye placement of human babies. Our cats weigh about what a young baby would consider.

Cats are beneficial for removing rodents from our buildings and grain. They helped control the plague by eating and killing rodents. Cats have saved farmers a lot of money by killing the rats and mice that eat the grain on their farms. Before we had cats on our farm, rats ate the corn out of the old corn crib. Once we had cats on our farm, the rat population disappeared utterly.

Our black cats have not always had a fair rap. They were associated with witchcraft years ago and bad luck. My black cats have always given me joy and happiness.

I find black cats no different than any other cat color in the feline world.

We love watching our feline friends play. Having a cat can lower our blood pressure and help us be more relaxed. Holding our cats and having them purr away is very comforting. It is nice to cuddle up next to your cat at night and hear them purr until you fall asleep.

Cats have alerted their owners of a fire in the night or a gas leak that has saved their owners’ lives. My black cat Sebastian told me a man was walking down my road at 9 PM. He looked out of the window and made a horrible growling sound. I pulled down my window shade for the rest of the evening.

Our cats are wonderful companions in our lives. Our cats do so very much for us every day. I truly appreciate all of the fine and loving felines I have and have had.

Memorable Kittens in My Life

I have had many kittens born on my farm in my lifetime. Particular kittens have stood out more than others because of their character and actions.

I had a tiny black female kitten born on my farm in the early summer. She was bright around cars and avoided them at all costs. She would always walk under your feet, and I feared I would step on her and kill her. She remained tiny for her age. I placed an ad under giveaways in my local newspaper, and a lovely young couple came and adopted her. I called them about a year after they had adopted her to see how she was doing. They said they loved her so much they had adopted another cat to keep her company. I also inquired about her size. They told me she has fully grown and is the size of most female cats. I was thrilled my kitten got a loving and caring home.

Blacknose was a beautiful tortoiseshell kitten. She would follow me around the farm and wait for the school bus to take me to school. In her adult life, she would catch and kill garter snakes.

One of my tortoise shell kittens would sit on my shoulder while I painted the farm buildings. She was a very loving and affectionate kitten. When she was about a year old, she got run over by a pickup truck. I missed her dearly.

Midnight was a black kitten. He liked to follow my Father around the farm when he was feeding our pigs. One day Midnight, he jumped on my Father’s shoulder at five in the morning. My Father jumped, and to his relief, he discovered Midnight had jumped on his shoulder and not some wild animal.

One Himalayan kitten was born on my farm; she was very gentle and kind. All the kittens on my farm are part Siamese, Himalayan, Maine Coon, and domestic short hair.

I have had so many memorable kittens born on my farm throughout the years that there are too many to mention. My kittens have given me great joy in my life. My kittens have pleasured those who have adopted them over the years. I am very thankful for my kittens, who have become wonderful and loving adult cats to share my life with.

Genetics and Your Cat

Your cat may be born with an excellent genetic makeup by the luck of the draw. Some cats are born with a fantastic ability to cross the road without getting run over. Several generations of kittens will inherit the ability to cross the road without any problems for generations to come. After five to ten years, this remarkable trait will slowly disappear due to a new Tomcat on the scene or too much inbreeding.

Genetic mutations will generally show up as your cat becomes more mature. I have had cats that inherited lung, anemia, breast, eye, ear, and liver cancers. Sometimes it does not matter that you diligently take your cat for his yearly checkups. The best taken-care cat in the world can inherit some genetic mutation that has kept quiet in his body for years until something stimulates it to rear its ugly head.

I had a Maine Coon cat given to me by one of my cousins years ago. She lived to be about ten years old. I had not had a Maine Coon cat born on my farm for almost thirty-five years, and then one of my pregnant female cats gave birth to a male Maine Coon cat. I gave him to one of my cousins for a house cat. She is delighted to have him as one of her pet cats.

Rex cats or hairless cats are a result of a genetic mutation. A farmwife discovered two furless kittens in her barn one day. She decided to keep the skinless kittens, and now we have a new breed of house cats that do not shed any coats in our homes.

We never know when some horrible genetic mutation might pop up and take the life of our beloved house cat or pet.

Kohl is a very outgoing cat and loves to be around other people. He loves to play with a fish on the end of a stick with anyone visiting my house. He loves to eat string cheese out of a cat snack dispenser. Kohl ensures people are watching him get his string cheese out of the cat snack dispenser.

Garfunkel and Conrad are my cats only. They love to be held and petted by me and me alone. Conrad’s Mother was very shy and very cautious of all human beings. I do not know about Conrad’s father, as he was a feral cat that came to my farm.

Maggie is an amiable, outgoing cat and the opposite of her sister. She loves to be held and petted by people she has gotten to know for some time.

Cali and Russ are very outgoing and can hardly wait for someone to come to the house to hold and pet them. They both purr and purr away while they are being held and petted. Peter is shy beyond shy and likes to hide behind a board most of the day. Addi, the Mother of Peter’s kittens, is semi-shy. Addi’s children, Hilford, Mr. Gray, and Sherlock, do not want to be held or petted. Peter and Nicole are Conrad’s brother and sister. Conrad likes to be held and petted by me only.

I think it is part genetics in the fact that some cats like to be held and make a fuss over where other cats instead be left alone. In most cases, the kittens act as their parents do around people. Some cats can come around and become utterly tame with their human caregiver. Cat snacks and tuna canned in water can change your cat’s personality for the better. Good food and extra love can sometimes make the feral cat extra tame over time and with lots of patience.

I like to take a picture of my cat in a well-lit room. I never try to pose my cat; I let my cat pose for me. My cats are very relaxed when they first wake up in the morning. I like to take pictures of my cats when they are resting or open.

I generally use my smartphone to take pictures of my cats. I have found that my smartphone performs better at taking pictures than my camera does. I can easily download my cat pictures to my website from my smartphone.

I love to take pictures of my cats at play. I also love taking photos of my cats relaxing or sitting on the furniture. I have taken pictures of my outdoor cats sitting atop an old wooden fence post or in a tree.

To get the perfect picture of your cat, it must be in a peaceful and calm area. A nervous or excited cat will not let you get a good view of it no matter what you try to do. I talk to my cat before I take his picture. My cat is then looking right at me and the camera lens for the perfect cat picture. I like to take at least three photos of my cat at once to save the best shot out of the three.

Cats like calm music or complete quiet. When I take my best cat pictures, my cats are relaxed and not distracted by anything. I like to take photos of my cats sitting on my lap. The cat on my lap is generally purring away and is happy as a lark to be sitting on my lap. Remember to take your time and patience while trying to take the perfect picture of your feline friend.

Let The Buyer Beware

When picking out a kitten, ensure the person is a reputable breeder. Some people will try to sell you a sick kitten. When buying a kitten, ask for the kitten’s medical records and call the vet to make sure that the kitten was taken to that particular veterinarian. Some people will try to pawn off another kittens vet records for a different kitten other than the one you are trying to buy from them. I tried to buy a Himalayan cat years ago for breeding purposes. I asked to talk to the previous owners of the cat, and they told me that she was born barren and, therefore, never could have any kittens of her own. If in doubt, have your vet check the kitten over at the owner’s expense before you buy the kitten. I want you and your kitten to be healthy for many years.

When you purchase a car, bring someone with you, and then you will have a witness if you need one further down the road. I have known many people who did not get the car of their dreams. If the salesman tells you a little old lady drove the vehicle only on Sundays, you can bet the car was pushed down to the ground. Make sure the salesperson puts down in writing the motor size, front wheel drive or AWD, the car’s color, and the serial number of the vehicle you are purchasing. If you do not have a witness when buying your vehicle or a written document with everything you want on your car, you do not have a foot to stand on if something is not as you want it to be.

Be careful of unethical people trying to take you in your purchases. Unfortunately, there are plenty of evil people out there. You and only you can protect yourself from the vultures that want to prey on you.
