Cats and Their Relationship With Other Pets

A Siamese Cat

I adopted a pure-breed Siamese cat years ago. She had grown up with birds in the house. She dearly loved a pet parakeet that I adopted. She would lay on the bed and listen to her little bird friend sing. When her bird friend died at ten years of age, she was unfortunate for a while. She did not like other cats at all. I bought a sickly young male kitten into the house one day, and she quickly formed a Motherly bond with the weak little kitten. There is a kind heart in every cat.

A Red Tabby Cat

I adopted a red tabby male cat from one of my vets. He would not kill any mice. He had lived in the vet’s office since he was a young kitten. I imagine my vet had trained him not to kill any small rodents since they were probably patients in his office now and then.

Dogs And Cats

Dogs and cats can have a love-hate relationship. I have had dogs that like cats and other dogs that think a cat is a pest and they should get rid of it somehow. Most of the dogs I have had through the years finally learned to get along with my cats. Jitter was a small black dog that we adopted. Jitters thought of the Mother cat’s offspring as her own. She would babysit kittens for the Mother cats, and the kittens would follow her around.

A Pet Goat

I had a pet goat named Zachary. I put Zachary in a building with two kittens to keep him company when he was a young goat. He loved my cats all his life, and they had an excellent relationship. Zachary, Jitters, and one of my cats, Tabatha, would go hunting together. Jitters and Tabatha were after any mice they could find in the ditch. Zachary would go into the field and eat the ears of corn the combine had left behind.

Cats And Their Relationship With Other Cats

I have several cats who are still living with their parents and siblings. They have a special bond with each other. The siblings will lie down next to their Mother yet today. I have other cats that are not related to them, and they still have a special bond with my other cats. There is also a cat that would be an Aunt to the siblings. They groom and lick each other and cuddle in the same cat bed.

Pets Have Relationships That Will Last A Lifetime

If your cat grows up with your other pets, they will generally have a long and lasting relationship throughout their lifetime.
