The Love Of Cats

Rescuing Cats

I have rescued many cats over the years. I have saved little kittens dumped in our field in the middle of the winter. I have adopted cats that I have found wandering around in restaurant parking lots. I have adopted farm cats and kittens. I have adopted cats the owners gave away because they were having a baby. I have taken in all different ages of cats and kittens. Most cats and kittens I have taken in have had excellent, pleasant, friendly dispositions.

Make A Nice Pleasant Environment For Your New Feline Friend

Make a nice warm area where your cat can relax and hide until he gets used to his new home. Put out a new litter box for him, fresh water, and plenty of cat food. I put out a new cat bed with a new fluffy towel for him to sleep on. Put out various cat toys for your new cat to enjoy. Introduce your new cat very, very slowly into a multi-cat household. I generally keep the new cat in the bathroom for three days so they can smell each other under the bathroom door and avoid a lot of unnecessary cat fights when they get together later on.

Shower Your New Cat With Lots Of Attention

Hold and pat your new cat on the head and scratch him under the chin. Give him lots of cat treats and play interactive games with him. Cats love playing with a fish on the end of a string or getting goodies from a cat treat dispenser. Let your new cat know that he is loved but do not ignore your other cats, or they will be very jealous of the newcomer.

Praise Your Cat For Good Behavior

Reward your new cat when you tell him something is off-limits and he obeys your command. Give him some tuna canned water or his favorite cat treats. Never yell or scream at your cat; he will always be terrified of seeing you. Be kind and gentle with any pet. Your new cat will try to please you to the best of his ability, so just be patient and understanding. A calm, pleasant voice will always get the best results.

A Lifetime Feline Friend

You will have your cat for many years if he is treated right, loved, cared for, and has the right genetic makeup for a long life. Take your cat to your Vet for yearly shots and checkups, as a pound of prevention is worth a pound of cure, as the old saying goes. Your cat will be by your side when you do not feel well, and he will do his best to nurse you back to health by purring away and being your constant companion in your time of need. Trust earns the love of cats, and that trust should never be broken as it is a golden trust.

Commitment

Commitment

Your Responsibility To Follow Through With What You Said You Would Do

If we commit to something, the person on the receiving end expects us to follow through with what we said we would do. If you tell someone you want to eat out with them next week and eat out with someone else when you were supposed to, that is not right. You should never throw one person under the bus because you prefer the company of another person over them. Someday that friend will wise up to you, and you will find it difficult for anyone of your friends to commit to you for anything when they know they are your second choice. Always put yourself in the other person’s position and think about how you made them feel.

Volunteers

If you volunteer to do something, you have committed to completing the task, as if you signed a legally binding contract. If volunteers only worked when they felt like it, many deaths and disasters would never get cleaned up. We have volunteer fire departments that come to put out fires, and if they showed up every so often instead of every time the bell rang, we would lose a lot of people, property, and buildings to fires that could have been put out if they answered their call of commitment or duty.

Doctors, Nurses, And Health Care Workers

We expect our Doctor to be knowledgeable in treating us as his knowledge may be a matter of life or death for us. Untreated illnesses can escalate in a hurry and lead to our untimely demise. If your Doctor does not keep on top of new diseases, he lacks commitment to you and the others he treats. We expect our nurses always to be caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, kind, and considerate of us. We want our Doctors and nurses to continue their commitment to keeping us as healthy as possible. We want our Doctor to send us to another Doctor ASAP if we have an illness that does not generally appear on the radar screen. Healthcare workers should treat all people fairly and with compassion. A nurse once told me to clean up after myself when I was deathly ill. She was a night nurse, and since she seemed not committed to being a nurse, I wish she would find something else to float her boat. People in the rest homes need to be saved by compassionate, caring, and kind workers to care for them. I have found people soaking wet in rest homes and care workers smoking instead of feeding their residents. We are all growing older every day, and yes, you, too, are caregivers, so put that in your pipe and smoke it for future reference as to how you may be treated down the road.

Ministers And Other Professions

A minister must be committed to God in caring for his parishioners. A minister should call on his parishioners and check on their well-being. A minister has signed a contract with God and his parishioners. Teachers should be knowledgeable about what they are teaching and like small children, young adults, or adults, depending on their grades. Your auto mechanic should keep up with the latest diagnostic test for your car to keep it running at its absolute best. Whatever you choose in life, do it with total commitment, show compassion, kindness, and knowledge, and follow The Golden Rule – Do Unto To Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You. Stay committed to God and others in your life.

Traveling 101 Two

Traveling 101 Two

Ordering Food

One time I ordered the soup of the day, and luckily, before my waitress took off with my order, I asked her what kind of soup it was, and she said cow stomach; I canceled my soup ASAP. When I was in France, a man ordered Escargot, and he was anything but pleased when his snails arrived. If you do not know what food is, ask what it is before you call it and discover that you cannot eat it because it is not what you thought it was. I ordered a cafe latte in France and received a cup of coffee and a cup of tea. I first drank my cup of coffee, followed by my tea. The word latte sounded like tea to my waitress. You must always consider the language difference before ordering or asking for something. If you do not get what you ordered, do not be afraid to say so; I saw my food delivered to a different table and received what they ordered. When my waitress returned, she switched our plates, and we had a pleasant meal.

Hotel Rooms

In Europe, we got stuck in a room in their attic. It was so cramped we could hardly move. We put up with it for two nights and then asked for a different room. They gave us a huge room then, which made our stay pleasant. One time on a trip overseas, we ended up at a hotel room out of the 1940s, and they had the blankets, tables, chairs, and elevator to prove it. We left and went to another hotel which was very elegant and outstanding. One time in a hotel room, we could not operate our faucets for the shower. The manager said we had to twist the bottom of the tap sideways to get water to the battery. He thought I was stupid and could not figure that out, so I told him that if we did that in the USA, we would have a significant problem as we would break the faucet off the sink, and water would fly everywhere. We asked for a hairdryer once, and they said they had given them to all the men and told us we could use an iron. They had a convention of men there at the time. They should have kept some extras for the tour group on their way the next day.

Plan Your Days Activities

Sometimes the best-laid plans of mice or men will not happen no matter what you may try. For days like that, have a backup plan for what you may do or see that day. Try to see many things in one day without wearing yourself out by having too many planned activities for one day. Relax, unwind on your vacation, and do things your family will enjoy doing. Stop at museums, concerts, plays, theme parks, and national monuments, and shop for items that you may see that you would like to have. Travel in the good old USA as there is much to see and do; go to the country you have always dreamed about going to, and I promise you will not regret it as it will enrich your soul. Traveling is excellent; no one can take those beautiful memories and moments away from you. God bless you with safe travels.

The Truth Be Told

The Truth Be Told

The Truth Always Comes Out Eventually

Some people will give you a soft soap job that puts them in hot water. They devote so much time to telling you everything but the truth. They will try to tell you that the sun will not come up tomorrow. Eventually, they hardly know the truth from facts or fiction themselves. A person that does not mean the truth is a person that you will soon want to eliminate from your life. If you cannot tell the truth, you are not fair to yourself or others. The truth will set you free, as the old saying goes. When you do not tell the truth, an albatross around your neck will hold you down in a stopping position for the rest of your life. Tell the truth in the first place, then you do not have to try to remember all of your lies which will trip you up, so you stumble and fall before many people that you care about as you have lost all credibility on your part.

The Man That Could Soft Soap Everyone, Or So He Thought He Could

People are constantly watching and observing what you do and what you say. Do not try to tread on the water with people because you will soon drown. The naughty salesman that would do anything to be a top salesman of the week. He worked in a car lot that sold old, worn-out cars. He would tell people that the high miles on cars would not hurt them and that the car had a lot of mileage left. People were buying cars from him right and left to begin with. One lady had the transmission go out of her car after driving it for only 50 miles. He would tell the people that all the vehicles on the lot had gone through. They had been gone through the mill of disrepair. One man complained that the oil pan fell off his car, and he told him he had hit something in the road. One day he made a grave mistake and sold one of his old beasts of a car to a retired mechanic. He tried to lie to the mechanic, but his hand got caught in a trap this time. The mechanic took him to court, and he won once they heard his case. The top salesman could not soft soap the Judge as the facts about the car sunk him.

God Know When You Try To Soft Soap Him

One man went to church every Sunday thinking that that was all it took to be a good Christian. He could never walk the walk or talk the talk out of the church. He only parted with his money when he wanted something for himself. He would ignore the cries of the oppressed. He would miss the signs God was trying to put before him to think about others, not just himself. One day he lost his high-paying job, and now he was on the end of receiving true Christian love in the form of shelter and food, which made him see the light again and the light of God. He became a good Christian who shared his wealth with many when he regained his footing later. God let his light shine in this man so he could let his light shine in others. God can turn your life around if you stop and see the cries of the less fortunate.

Cat Help Tips

Cat Help Tips

Putting Your Cat In A Pet Carrier

Never stick your cat’s head in the carrier first; he will likely bite or scratch you. Trim your cat’s claws before putting him in a carrier. Put your cat’s buttocks on the page first for a fast and safe loading experience. Give your cat a cat treat once he is in the carrier safely so he thinks of the page as a place to go where he will be rewarded.

Taking Your Cat For A Ride In Your Car

Place him in a pet carrier, as he may be frightened to ride in your car. Some cats have gotten down by the brake in the vehicle, almost making it impossible for you to stop your vehicle in a hurry safely. Your cat may be climbing all over you, distracting your eyes from the road. I had an older Siamese cat trained to sit on one’s lap in the car. She sat on my lap and was perfectly behaved. I adopted her when she was eight years old. Take your cat for a ride as a young kitten so she will get used to the car rides.

Why Did My Cat Wet On That

Some cats will wet on a stranger’s clothing in your home. They may not like the newcomer in your home, which is their way of showing disapproval. Cats do not like changes at all. If you switch to a new kitty litter, ensure you still have the old brand out, as they might refuse to use the new brand of litter. If you do not change your kitty litter often enough, they may use your house plant for their litter box. A female cat may wet something because you decided to add another female cat to your household. Toms spray furniture if they smell a female cat in the season to mark their territory.

Overeating

Some cats may eat so fast that they may vomit later on. Cats can be nighttime eaters and will pack on the pounds then. Take their food away from them at night and put it back for them first thing in the morning. Buy cat food for weight control and senior cat food for your older cat. Cut down on cat snacks and treats.

Some Cats Do Not Like To Be Held

I have discovered over the years that female cats do not want to be held or petted on the head for long. Male cats are very tolerant of being stored and rubbed most of the time; Feral cats seem never to like being kept unless they jump on your lap on their own. Never force a cat to let you have or pet them, as they will become less tolerant.

Feral Or Scared Cats

Let a feral or scared house cat come when they choose to go to you. Feed them cat treats and talk gently to them. It could take six months, but they will eventually warm up to you. One of my cats finally trusted me enough to sleep at the foot of my bed at night and let me hold him and pat him on the head. Trust has to be earned between you and your cat.

Make Time For God Everyday

Make Time For God Everyday

Mornings With God

Start your morning by reading a daily devotion. Think about the love you just read and think to yourself, how I can use that devotion in my day. Never get so involved with work that you do not have any time to spend with God. Pray to God in the morning to help you with your day’s activities and focus on helping others with their needs. Read the Bible and apply what you have read to your daily living.

Friends And Family

Pray for your friends and families well-being and that all of you stay connected to God. If you see a friend or family member drifting away from God, help him get anchored back to God. Pray to the Lord for guidance on what you should do or tell your friend to get him reconnected to God again. Tell your friend what God has done for you in your life. Tell your friend with God in your life, all things are possible. Without God, you are on a sinking ship that will not weather storms. All of us have raging storms in our life now and then. God can get you through the batteries in your life.

Afternoons With God

Praise God for what he has helped you with today. If you are taking an afternoon break, pray to God and thank him for what he has helped you with today. Look at the beautiful scenery around you and thank God for what he has made for you to look at. You may see mountains covered with snow or birds congregating on a lake. I drove by an Amish schoolhouse and saw the kids enjoying a warm day playing on the teeter tooter and making snow angels in the snow. God’s beauty surrounds you every day. Take time to enjoy the beauty in the World, as it is truly majestic and stunning.

Evenings With God

Talk over the day with your family members. Ask each other how their day went and what they accomplished today. Thank God for your many blessings today as you eat your evening meal. When I go to bed at night, I pray for the health of my loved ones and those I know and don’t know that God may help them with the illness they may be fighting. I pray for those devastated by floods, tornadoes, mudslides, and more. God does answer your prayers in his time frame, so you must be patient, and your prayers will be answered. Pray for homeless people and those without enough food to eat. Pray to God to help you become a better steward.

Visit With People

People want to know they are loved, thought about, and appreciated. Calling people and talking to them in a human voice can be comforting and relaxing. Listen to people while they speak and try to help them with their concerns. God listens to our concerns; we should do the same for our friends, family, and anyone we visit. God, thanks for being in my life.

Spring Cleaning 101

Spring Cleaning 101

Kitchen

I take everything out of my kitchen cupboards, wash them off, and remove the items I have not used for an extended time. I wipe out my closets and put new shelf paper on the sleeves. Get rid of any expired food items you may find stashed away. I clean my refrigerator, wash all the sleeves off, and clean up the crispers. I run a brush across the wires under the fridge or on the back as it will run more efficiently then and last much longer. I run vinegar water through the coffee maker, making it work like brand new again. I put a cleaner package in my washing machine that cleans out any debris that may be stuck in the tub. I run a dryer vent brush through the tubing to prevent dryer fires. The oven gets cleaned, and I tend under it. I also tidy up the closet in the kitchen. The smoke and carbon monoxide detectors get replaced or installed new batteries. I put new batteries in my weather radio. I clean the light fixtures throughout my house. Get rid of any old paperwork that you no longer need.

Bathroom

I clean the tub and shower head and replace my shower curtain if needed. The medicine cabinet gets cleaned, and old medicines are safely disposed of. I dust off the top of all of the doors throughout my house. The paneling in the bathroom gets a thorough cleaning. Any hair is removed from the drains. Mirrors get polished up throughout my home.

Bedrooms

I shake out all of the dresser scarves. I clean out the chest of drawers, put new shelf paper in them, and remove unused clothing. I vacuum all of the beds and bedroom rugs. I remove everything from the bedrooms and wash and wax the oak floors. I clean up all of the little knick-knacks. Closets are gone through, and items are given to Good Will or Affordables. The bedding and pillows get washed along with the blankets. The mirrors in the rooms are cleaned with window cleaner. My ceiling fan blades get good dusting. My curtains get washed in Woolite on a gentle cycle, and then I hang them back up wet and dry with no wrinkles.

Living And Dining Room

I clean all the dishes in my corner cabinet and remove any words or glassware I don’t need anymore. I vacuum off all of my furniture, drapes, and under furniture. I clean the carpet next to the walls and crevices with a unique carpet attachment. My drapes get royal vacuuming. Every piece of furniture gets dusted inside and outside, magazines get thrown out, and books get weeded out of my bookcases. My wooden furniture gets a treatment of lemon oil, which helps prevent the wood from drying out.

Basement

My freezers are unplugged and cleaned, and I rearrange my food in them to use the oldest frozen goods first. My appliances get waxed with car polish to prevent rust on them. Cupboards are emptied, and the new paper is put on the sleeves. I clean the cement floor in my basement right after I vacuum it. I clean up all of my cat litter boxes, food, and water dishes with dish soap. All of my windows throughout my home get cleaned with window cleaner inside and outside. I get a water hose and spray out my air conditioner unit that sets outdoors, so it is ready to go in the hot weather coming soon.

Garage

I go through my garage and get rid of things I have stored there that I no longer need. Everything is removed from my garage, and I wash my garage floor with a mop and soapy water after I have vacuumed the floor. I grease my garage doors for more straightforward operation. I check the seal on the bottom of the doors and see if it needs to be replaced.

Outdoor Buildings

I sweep the floors in my outdoor buildings and clean the windows. I inspect my buildings to see if I need to hire someone to fix boards or roofs and more. I get rid of items that may be collecting dust in the buildings. Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Enjoy the fruits of your labor with a lovely fresh, clutter-free, clean home and outdoor facilities.

Fulfillment In Life

Fulfillment In Life

What Fulfills You In Your Life

Be grateful for what you have been given in your life. Be thankful to others for what they have added to your life. I am grateful to have lovely and outstanding friends to share my life with. I am thankful to have God in my life, as he always knows what I need before I know it. I am grateful for my pet cats; they are lovely and loving companions. I am very thankful that I grew up on a farm, as I enjoy farm life immensely. Be grateful for all you have been given and share it with others so they may have more joy and hope.

Blogging

I love to write, and blogging fulfills that need for me. I love writing inspirations with Laura as I want to share God’s good works with all of you; I love sharing my experiences with my cat families over the years with you as I hope it will help you have a happy and healthy cat for many years to come. I love traveling as I wanderlust to explore and learn about different countries. Traveling fulfills my quest to learn more and explore the World and its grandeur. I loved going to all the countries my ancestors came from, walking along some of the same streets they had stepped down many years ago, and sharing that experience with you through my blog.

Having Happiness And Joy In Your Life

I always try to look on the bright side of things as much as possible. Negativity will take over if you let it, and it will act like a giant vacuum cleaner that will suck your life out. Try not to worry because the only thing that worry does is rob you of a day of happiness. If you have joy in your life, share it with others. I find pleasure in the company of friends and family and in traveling. I find joy in mowing my lawn on a beautiful summer day. I love to watch my garden items grow and eat them in the early spring and frozen vegetables in winter. I share my extra produce with friends.

Decluttering

Spring cleaning is an excellent time to declutter your life. If you have not used something in ten years, sell it or give it to a good cause. Once I get rid of things, I never miss them. Get rid of extra knickknacks, bedding, pots and pans, clothing, toys, tools, and s much more. I feel very fulfilled after I have given my home a good old-fashioned spring cleaning from top to bottom. I enjoy looking at how much better a house looks after removing unused items chatter up your home. Get rid of cat toys that no longer interest your cats.

Other Things That Fulfill One

Smile more and put a smile on someone’s face today—compliment people more. Sing praises and pray to God more. Take time for yourself now and then and stress less. Spend quality time with those that you love in your life. Exercise more for a healthier you. Keep a journal, get plenty of sleep, and plan your week. I keep a list of what I want to accomplish every day. Take time to reflect on your life and get out in nature. I hope you and your family are fulfilled in your life.

Things To Do Early In Spring

Things To Do Early In Spring

Make Appointments With Contractors Now

Contractors get booked up very early in the Spring. I call my roofer and tell him what buildings I want roofed now. If you need a new garage door installed, contact them directly. Call your furnace man if you need a new AC in your home. Get your estimates now if you need new windows or siding installed in your home. The early bird gets the worm, as the old saying goes.

Powered Outdoor Equipment

I take my snowblowers at the end of the winter season and have new spark plugs put in them, along with a tune-up before they get stored away for the season. Put fresh oil in your lawnmowers and get their blades sharpened early before people start needing repairs. Ensure your weed whackers and chain saws run up to speed, or have them serviced. I have my service man put fresh oil in my car and check the vehicle over in early Spring.

Plan Out Your Garden

I have already purchased my garden seeds. If you wait to buy your seeds until the last minute, they may be sold out at the stores. I plan where I want to plant my garden seeds as I always rotate the area where I plant my seeds. Get your garden tiller serviced and buy any new garden tools.

Trees Cut Down Or Trimmed

Call your tree man now, as they get wholly booked very early. I tell him how many trees I want to be taken down or trimmed up. We discussed the project and agreed on a price for both of us.

Lawn Care

You will generally receive a discount by booking an early lawn care service. I have my lawn sprayed and fertilized twice a year. To begin with, I had it done four times a year until the weeds got under control. If you cannot cut it yourself, hire a man to mow your lawn.

Garden Care And Weeding

Some people hire a gardener to weed their gardens and flower beds. There are not many gardeners to engage anymore. Look early for a gardener and ask your friends if they know of anyone who might be willing to weed your garden and flower beds for you.

Trees And Plants

If you want to plant any particular trees, consider ordering them now. Some varieties are tough to find. Some apple trees are tough to come by, so put your order in now. If you want to plant a fancy plant outdoors, you may want to order it beforehand.

Your Handy Man Or Carpenter

Tell your handyman or carpenter what you want to accomplish this year with repairs and redecorating your home. You may want to hire an interior decorator; your handyman will most likely know a very dependable one. I hope all your projects get completed on schedule this year and your home and property are how you dreamed they could be.

Spiritual Awakenings

Spiritual Awakenings

The Birth Of A Baby

Babies carry on our family genes, and they awaken our spirits. Having a baby is a highly spiritual act. God has blessed you with the birth of a baby. Babies are a true gift from God. A child may bring lots of joy to his parents. A child from God may become a great man or woman of God later in life, which will spread God’s good works and enrich the lives of others while serving the Lord. God cares about how children are raised and nurtured in life.

A Horrible Illness

An illness in your life will bring you closer to God. You know that God is constantly by your side while you are ill. You can feel God’s healing power in your hospital bed. God knows exactly what people in your life you need to help you keep your faith while you are ill and lift your spirits. God and your friends and those caring for you can bring you closer to God. As you and other people pray for your recovery, you feel like God is holding your hand, saying you will recover from this. I could never have survived any illness if God was not in my life.

Taking Care Of Those In Need

When you help others, you feel better. God has helped all of us in our lives, and we should benefit all people who need a hand. If someone is sick, buy items they can no longer go out and buy on their own due to health issues. Do not charge people for your help. Only set them for the food; if they cannot afford it, give it to them. Be compassionate, kind, considerate, and understanding of other people’s plights and misfortunes in life, and shine a little light in their hearts brightly for the whole world to see by uplifting them and bringing hope, joy, love, and love and peace to them.

Easter

Easter is a time of spiritual awakening. Jesus died on the cross for our sins so that we may never die as our souls will live on. At Easter, many new baby animals come into the world, and plants and trees start getting fresh leaves and flowers. Easter is a time of renewal as tiny seeds will grow into big plants, producing a bountiful harvest for us to eat later in the year. Animals come out of hibernation. God has provided little seeds that grow into produce for us to eat. Easter is a time of spiritual renewal as we reflect on all that God has given and sacrificed for us on earth so that we may live with him in eternity in heaven. Praise God every day of your life and thank him for everything he has done for you to make your life enriched, rewarding, hopeful, joyful, loving, and peaceful. Always remember to be one of God’s good shepherds in the world.
