Why I Should Deworm My Cat

Why I Should Deworm My Cat

You should always deworm your cat, even if he is an indoor cat. Worm your cat preventatively according to your vet’s instructions.

Your cat can get different worms: tapeworms, roundworms, and hookworms.

Heavy infestations of worms can cause intestinal bleeding and anemia. In a kitten, many parasites in its body can be fatal. Roundworms are more common in kittens than in adult cats. Adult cats are pretty often infested with tapeworms. If a cat is stressed by trauma or disease, she is more likely to get worms. Fleas can cause your cat to get worms.

Your cat can get worms by eating infested mice and infested raw meat. Your cat may develop Toxoplasma. Toxoplasmosis can be spread from the mother cat to her kitten.

Pregnant women should not clean out litter boxes. It is straightforward for them to get toxoplasmosis from the infested bowel movements in the cat litter.

Here are some signs to look for that your cat may have worms. Your cat’s fur will look dull and unkempt. Your cat may start sliding its bottom across your floor. Your cat will become lethargic. You will notice that he is losing weight. Your cat will want to nap more than usual.

Try to worm your cats twice a year or more if you suspect they may have worms. You can buy a liquid dewormer to pour over your cat food if you have a farm cat that is hard to catch. You can also mix some dewormer in tuna with water for a cat that is hard to administer.

Your cat will be much healthier if you always remember to have him dewormed. He will also have a shiny and healthy-looking coat of fur. I hope your cat is feeling well.

Let The Buyer Beware

Let The Buyer Beware

When picking out a kitten, ensure the person is a reputable breeder. Some people will try to sell you a sick kitten. When buying a kitten, ask for the kitten’s medical records and call the vet to make sure that the kitten was taken to that particular veterinarian. Some people will try to pawn off another kittens vet records for a different kitten other than the one you are trying to buy from them. I tried to buy a Himalayan cat years ago for breeding purposes. I asked to talk to the previous owners of the cat, and they told me that she was born barren and, therefore, never could have any kittens of her own. If in doubt, have your vet check the kitten over at the owner’s expense before you buy the kitten. I want you and your kitten to be healthy for many years.

When you purchase a car, bring someone with you, and then you will have a witness if you need one further down the road. I have known many people who did not get the car of their dreams. If the salesman tells you a little old lady drove the vehicle only on Sundays, you can bet the car was pushed down to the ground. Make sure the salesperson puts down in writing the motor size, front wheel drive or AWD, the car’s color, and the serial number of the vehicle you are purchasing. If you do not have a witness when buying your vehicle or a written document with everything you want on your car, you do not have a foot to stand on if something is not as you want it to be.

Be careful of unethical people trying to take you in your purchases. Unfortunately, there are plenty of evil people out there. You and only you can protect yourself from the vultures that want to prey on you.

The Wonderer

The Wonderer

I have had tom cats and some females take off for a month or more at a time.

Peter

I had a female outdoor cat that would go to the neighbor’s house in the summer months. In the winter, she would return to her heated cat bed in an enclosed building.

I have had many tom cats take off for months at a time. They were probably in search of Juliet. They have generally taken off in the spring and summer months.

Conrad

Some cats have taken off to live at the neighbor’s house because he had milk cows. What cat could resist fresh milk every day?

I had a gray-striped tabby cat for five years. One day I could not find her. After five years, she returned. She looked good. After she had been here for one month, she died. I guess she wanted to come home to die.

Cleo as a kitten

I have adopted a lot of cats over the years. Some have taken off for a week right when n I first let them outdoors. They might have been trying to find their way home or exploring their new surroundings.

I had a black and white female cat that was part Siamese and Himalayan that I had adopted. She lived at my place for quite a few years. I saw her at the neighbor’s house one-day whiles driving by. I learned from other neighbors that she was now living in their house. I was sad to lose her, but at least she had a wonderful indoor home in her old age. She had left me with her legacy of many kittens over the years.

Cats love to explore and roam around. It is a good survival skill. A cat should look for the best source of food in the wild. I hope your cat comes home shortly.

Choose For Yourself What You Want To Do In Your Life

Choose For Yourself What You Want To Do In Your Life

I have heard of Grandparents dictating to their Grandsons that if they do not want to farm, they will not inherit the farm when they die. Let your Grandson get the job he wants to get for himself. A person that works at a job he does not like will not be suitable or interested in that particular job. Grandsons, do what you want to do with your life. Life is concise to work at a job you cannot stand to do every day. Grandsons can rent out the family farm to a reliable tenant, which is still considered a family farm. Never tell anyone what kind of job they should do for the rest of their lives. That decision is left up to them and only them alone.

My Grandmother would be shocked to find three cats living in her house. I love cats, so I decided to have three house cats. Cats give me joy, love, peace, and comfort. My Grandmother thought all cats should be farm cats and live outdoors in the barn. I figure that as long as I maintain the family farm in good order, Grandma should not be too upset with three cats living in my house.

Get a job you love and love, and you will be happy and content with your work. Going to work every day should not be a chore. Your assignment should be exciting and enjoyable. I have had rental properties for years. I have met a lot of kinds and caring people throughout the years. I love to paint outdoors, stain decks, mow lawns, and repair buildings well.

Please do what you want with your life, as we only have one life to live. It might as well be a life we enjoy every day.

Wellness Core Chicken & Turkey Canned Cat Food from Chewy.Com

Wellness Core Chicken & Turkey Canned Cat Food from Chewy.Com

I was provided Wellness Core Chicken & Turkey Canned Cat Food from Chewy.Com to facilitate my review. All thoughts are 100% honest and my own.

Hilford, one of my young cats next door, made a loud-sounding meow when I entered the house with a box of canned Wellness Core Chicken & Turkey canned cat food from Chewy.Com. Hilford had remembered eating a can of it the day before. Hilford, Mr. Gray, Sherlock, Lorenzo, and Russ quickly devoured a can of Wellness Core Chicken & Turkey Canned Cat Food from Chewy.Com. Bella licked the can of Wellness canned cat food completely clean.

20160104_144518

Wellness is a natural food for cats with added vitamins, minerals, and taurine and is grain free. Wellness Core has shredded Chicken & Turkey Hearty Cuts in Gravy and is made in Canada. Serving size depends on the size of your cat. Feed one and a half cans every 7 lbs. of your cat’s body weight. For kittens, you can feed twice the adult amount.

20151109_101734

Cali loves to clean the can of Wellness once my other cats are done eating. Addi always lets her adult kittens eat what they want, and then she eats what is left over for herself. She is a very caring and loving Mother cat. Sometimes there is hardly anything left over for Addi to eat. Addi weighs 10.6 lbs., so she is doing alright for herself.

Addi and Trixie and catnip toy

Nicole and Peter are timid, so I placed some of the Wellness canned cat food on a board. They seemed to eat it up quickly. Cali loves to eat all of the Wellness canned cat food if I let her do so. I give her a small amount since she weighs 12.6 lbs.

Funny Things My Cats Have Done

Funny Things My Cats Have Done

One of my cats, Blacknose, would catch garter snakes and bring them to the house dead. She managed to do this on a regular schedule. She must have known that I do not care much for snakes.

Blacknose

A cat I had and later gave to my Grandmother hid in her shoe box for almost a full day. My Grandmother was frantic that she could not find her cat. She had searched every nook and cranny in her house for her cat. She called her neighbor up to help her look for her missing cat. Her neighbor saw her cat getting out of a shoe box. She had brought the lid back on when she entered the shoe box.

My Siamese cat Sugar once got into a small jacket I had lying on a chair. When I got home from getting groceries, I noticed her sleeping in my coat with her head sticking out of the same area where my head would stick out if I wore the coat.

When my cat Red was a kitten, he went to our Christmas tree, took a gold-colored bird out, and de-winged it. My older Chocolate Point Siamese cat looked at him like what is your problem? Don’t you know that that is an artificial bird? I think Red was a bit embarrassed later on.

I had an older cat named Trisha who tried to catch a rabbit when she was 16. She was very successful at it in her youth. Trisha ran for about an eighth mile at full speed and was entirely out of breath. That was the only time a rabbit ever outdid her. I was amazed that she would even try to catch a rabbit at age 16. She was an awesome cat and lived to be 18 years old.

Do Kitten's Remember Their Mother's When They Are Grown Cats ?

Do Kitten’s Remember Their Mother’s When They Are Grown Cats ?

My cat Addi gave birth to five kittens one year ago. I found an excellent home for two of her five kittens. The party that adopted two of Addi’s kittens named the kittens Leo and Cleo. I still have three of Addi’s kittens: Sherlock, Mr. Gray, and Hilford. I observed Hilford licking his Mother on the face one day. Mr. Gray came up next to his Mother and rubbed up against her face.

20150501_200027

Addi lets her grown-up kittens eat all of her cat’s treats yet. She is a loving Mother to all of her grown-up kittens. She always thinks of her kittens before thinking of her well-being. Addi never touches any cat food until her kittens have eaten all they want of that particular cat food.

Addi and Trixie and catnip toy

My outdoor cat Trisha had one kitten in December when she was fifteen. She stayed with him constantly to keep him warm. I had a little electric heater plugged into the building they were in. I named her kitten Tinker. Tinker was a beautiful creme-colored kitten. Tinker and his Mother always got along well.

I had a calico cat that had a long-haired kitten. When her kitten was fully grown, she did not remember her Mother. The two of them got into a big catfight. My calico cat was always very protective of her kittens throughout the years.

I had a female Himalayan cat at one time. She gave birth to one female kitten. She and her kitten always got along fine. They would lick each other’s hair and rub it against each other.

Mother cats never forget their grown-up kittens, and most of my grown-up kittens always remembered their Mother and thought of the kindness she would always give to them.

Sebastian's Story

Sebastian’s Story

Sebastian was born and raised on my farm. He would always walk under your feet when you would walk outdoors. Luckily no one ever stepped on him. One day he kept meowing right outside of my back door. I felt sorry for him, and he became my third house cat.

20160106_124613

Sebastian was knowledgeable. The first night Sebastian was in my house, I heard quite a racket from my living room. Sebastian had been busy gathering all the missing toy mice and placing them in a neat little row. Sebastian also let me bathe him. He seemed to enjoy his bath, and he made no fuss whatsoever.

Sebastian did not respect my older house cats, to begin with. He liked to wrestle with them, but they did not greatly appreciate it. As Sebastian matured, he acted much better with my other house cats.

Sebastian loved to balance on the window valances, and he would walk across them to the other side. Sebastian was quite the acrobat. As Sebastian matured, he could no longer perform this feat.

Sebastian loved to sleep on my bed at night. It was a three-cat night in the winter instead of a three-dog night. I always would end up with three cats sleeping peacefully in my bed.

Sebastian’s favorite toys were always toy mice. He had quite an assortment of them to play with. He also liked to bat away at a mouse in a circle toy.

Sebastian was about twelve when I discovered lung cancer from an X-Ray that my vet had taken off his chest. I thought he just had asthma. My vet put him on a steroid treatment. The steroids worked for about one year. Sebastian kept losing weight and had more difficulty walking up and down the steps in my house. He was thirteen years old when I had my vet put him to sleep. I never want to see one of my beloved pets suffer.

Cats Learn Their Hunting Skills from Their Mother

Cats Learn Their Hunting Skills from Their Mother

If a kitten is taken away from too early in life from its Mother, it will not have learned any hunting skills. A kitten learns the necessary hunting skills by watching its Mother hunt for mice.

I have watched many Mother cats take their kittens with them while they went out hunting. All the kittens that went out hunting with their Mother became excellent hunters like their Mothers.

Addi and Trixie and catnip toy

I had a house cat that did not know how to kill mice. My vet then gave me a cat that he had found abandoned at a golf course in December. He was a wonderful cat, but he had no hunting skills whatsoever. When my vet found my future cat, he was only a tiny kitten. His Mother did not have time to teach him any hunting skills. I’m sure my vet did not want him to kill small gerbils that came to his office. He was a wonderful cat and lived to be seventeen years old.

Addi and her kittens

I had a Siamese cat that would catch mice and eat them. She would always leave the mouse’s tail as proof that she had killed the mouse.

My first cat Flossie would come to our house almost every morning with a mouse she had caught in our field. She was also very good at killing rats in the open corn crib with ear corn in it.

Blacknose was Flossie’s kitten. She would bring home garter snakes that she had killed. She was also an excellent huntress like her Mother.

I have had several outdoor cats that were excellent runners. They could run faster than the rabbit they were after. Once they caught the rabbit, they would bring it home. All of my cats would then share their catch of the day.

If you want a cat that is an excellent mouser, ensure he is not taken away from his Mother too early in life.
