Cattitude - Is Your Cats Attitude Showing ?

Cattitude – Is Your Cats Attitude Showing ?

I have owned many cats in my lifetime. Every cat has its unique personality. Some cats are charming and easygoing, and others are skittish and fast to anger.

20140603_140931

I have had several outdoor cats with two quite wild parents. Their kittens were very feral, to begin with. I started patting the kittens every time I fed them in the morning. Slowly the kittens stopped hissing at me. I had gained their mutual trust and respect.

If you are angry and upset, your cat will pick up on that and act more aggressively. Your cat may exhibit aggressive behavior if someone yells or screams in your house. If everyone in your home works calms, cool, and collected, your cat will also. Cats sometimes get sad and angry, just as we do now and then. We all have good and bad days depending on how we feel or what has happened to us during the day. Our feline friends also have their good and bad days.

My house cat Garfunkel is timid with strangers. I gave my cousin a cat toy with a fish that dangled on the end of a pole. He dangled the fish in front of Garfunkel. Garfunkel played with the fish for a long time. Garfunkel and my cousin are now good friends. Garfunkel lets my cousin hold him and pat him on the head now.

Never give your cat a treat after he has exhibited lousy behavior. Your cat will think, I will receive a nice cat treat if I misbehave. Always be consistent in how you correct your cat’s terrible behavior. Don’t let your cat jump on your table and tell him not to one day, and the next day, be fantastic with him sitting on top of your table. Your cat will get mixed signals from you quickly.

20150427_150742

Giving a cat a treat is an excellent way to get a shy cat to interact more with you. I pat the cat on the head while he is eating his treat. Please do not hold a cat against his will. A skittish cat against his will makes him more nervous and afraid of people.

20141122_070212

Some feral cats that I have adopted have never warmed up to me. I will never know what they have been through in their life. Be kind, compassionate, caring, and loving to all your feline friends.

Always be consistent and kind and loving toward your cat for a cat with the best cattitude possible.

Simple Solution Cat Litter from Chewy.Com

Simple Solution 30 Day Never Scoop Urine Again! Cat Litter from Chewy.Com

I was provided Simple Solution 30 Day Never Scoop urine Again! Cat Litter from Chewy.Com to facilitate my review. All thoughts are 100 % honest and my own.

20150501_200709

Simple Solution cat litter is super – absorbent has exclusive odor-eliminating technology and is made for multi-cat households. Simple Solution cat litter gets rid of even the toughest litter box smells. The clay they use is three times more absorbent than standard litter, so it works faster and better. The unique Attapulgite clay is so effective it doesn’t need to clump – so you don’t have to scoop the urine. The litter is 50 % lighter than standard litters giving you more odor-fighting power in a smaller box. Simple Solution cat litter attracts attacks and neutralizes odors. The waste is made with Attapulite, a unique, lightweight mineral with a three-dimensional crystal structure, large surface area, and high porosity, allowing it to quickly attach to, absorb, and trap moisture and odors.

If you have a finicky feline add a layer of your current cat litter thick enough to cover the Simple Solution 30-Day Cat Litter and use less of your present debris each time you clean your litter box. Usually, even the fussiest cat becomes comfortable using the new trash after one or two changes. My cats immediately used the Simple Solution 30-Day Cat Litter Never Scoop Urine Again from Chewy.Com with no problems.

Kohl, Conrad, and Garfunkel used Simple Solution 30-Day Cat Litter Never Scoop Urine Again! The very moment I put it out for them to use. I put some Simple Solutions Cat Litter in my other house, and Mr. Gray immediately headed for it and he made his deposit.

I love the smell of Simple Solution 30-Day Never Scoop Urine Again Cat Litter from Chewy.Com. The litter smells like a beautiful air freshener.

Food Supplements and Vitamins for Cats

Food Supplements and Vitamins for Cats

I give food supplements to my cats if they are not feeling well.

I had a cat dying from lung cancer; I gave him cod liver oil and omega – 3 liquid form supplements. I also gave him Brewer’s Dried Yeast Formula with garlic and fortified vitamins in a pill form. I had a cat dying from liver cancer. I gave him Omega – 3 and vitamins. I think it helped them a little.

My house cat Kohl has been sneezing off and on. I started giving him Brewer’s Yeast with vitamins. He seems to be better now.

20140603_140931

When I have had pregnant cats on the farm, I give them vitamins. I pour a liquid form of vitamins over their cat food. Vitamins provide the pregnant cat a little boost to her body to help with her pregnancy. I have also sprinkled Brewer’s Yeast on her food. Yeast is a good form of vitamin B.

Your vet will have different kinds of cat food available with supplements and vitamins for your cat. I have bought their food for sensitive stomachs and gastrointestinal health. Both foods have helped my cats considerably. If one food brand is not allowed, buy a different brand. Another brand may work wonders for your cat’s health.

I order my supplements online or buy them from a farm or pet store.

If your cat continues to feel bad, take your cat to your vet for a complete check-up. Have him give your cat a blood test when in doubt. A blood test confirmed that my two cats that died had cancer. X- rays will show a cancerous mass.

I hope your cat is on his way to feeling better with his supplements and vitamins, and yeast.

Caring for Your Senior Cat

Caring for Your Senior Cat

I have had two cats that lived to be eighteen years old. One was an indoor Siamese cat. Trisha was an outdoor calico Siamese mix cat. She had a heater in the building she had lived in for the last few years. Trisha was always a very active cat. She chased a rabbit down when she was 17 and almost,t catch it. She kept hunting up until the time of her death. Ginger, my Siamese house cat, got relatively thin toward the end of her life. She was very active until about the last month of her life.

Kohl, one of my house cats, is ten years old now. He was born with a respiratory problem. The respiratory problem causes him to sneeze often. My vet recommended giving him two distemper shots a year instead of just one a year. The different picture seems to have helped his sneezing attacks somewhat.

20150501_201851

It is a good idea to have your cat’s teeth cleaned. Bad teeth can lead to poor health down the road. Most of my cats have had their teeth cleaned for the first time at around age eight or nine. Regular checkups with your vet are a must for a long-lived cat. I take my older cats to my vet the minute I notice anything wrong with them. A small problem in a senior cat can quickly lead to a big problem. As the old saying goes, an ounce of prevention is a pound of cure. Make sure you keep all of their shots up to date and have them wormed regularly. Worms can take a healthy cat down very quickly.

I like to have heated beds available for all of my cats. A heated bed is a must for an older cat. They have more trouble getting around in their old age, just as we do. The heat helps them stay more limber. Some older cats have trouble chewing their dry cat food. I feed them canned cat food or tuna canned in water.

Remember, your older cat still loves to play with a cat toy now and then. They still love to sit on your lap and relax. You will notice as your cat ages; he will sleep much more than he used to.

I hope you and your cat age gracefully together. You and your cat should have regular checkups to live to a healthy, ripe old age. Remember to keep your cat as active as they can for their period.

Should I Spay or Neuter My Cat ?

Should I Spay or Neuter My Cat ?

I spay or neuter my house cats. An unspayed female will howl and yowl when she is in season. She will do this until she is pregnant or out of season for a little while. Her cries for the male are unrelenting and very nerve-racking. She will keep you awake all night long. She may spray your furniture. She will roll around on the floor while she is in season. You will find all of this behavior very hard to tolerate.

20150501_201851

Trying to give kittens away can be pretty challenging. Lots of time can be spent placing ads around to try to find good homes for the kittens. The kittens may get sick and create expensive vet bills. Trying to catch farm kittens to give away can take half a day or more to see them. Too many cats in one place can cause illness to spread to all of your cats very quickly.

A Tom cat that is not neutered can spray your furniture, carpet, and woodwork. This smell is significantly overpowering and complex to get rid of. The spray can penetrate the padding of your carpet. The spray can soak down the wood floors. You might half to replace your carpets and have your wood floors redone. This can add up to a lot of money quickly.

I have not noticed any changes in the female cat’s behavior after spaying. If they have had kittens at any time, they will become more aggressive and travel farther after being spayed.

I would not recommend getting outdoor Toms neutered. The unneutered Toms will fight with them to no end. I have had several outdoor male cats get run over after I fixed them.

I would spay or neuter indoor cats unless they are for breeding purposes.

I hope this helps you decide to spay or neuter your cat.

Helping Your Cat Overcome His Shyness

Helping Your Cat Overcome His Shyness

Some cats take a long time to come out in the open, where strangers can see them. My house cat Conrad is one of those types of cats. I always talk to him when he finally comes out when I have company. Getting your cat comfortable with people can take a very long time. Sometimes Conrad will walk past a guest in my house in a calm and relaxed manner, or he might run for his life. I try to reassure him that my guest will not harm him. Talk to your cat in a soft, relaxed tone when they are scared. If you talk too loudly, they will be more frightened than before.

20141122_070212

My cat Garfunkel is timid. When he has a day that he comes out and looks at my guest, I put him in their lap. I also hold him and tell him that he is okay. He is starting to let guests pat him on the head as he walks by.

I have an outdoor cat that is very shy. She lets me touch her nose. I rub the tip of her nose and talk gently to her. I also give her some canned cat food when she allows me to feel the end of her nose.

If you adopt a feral cat, it may never overcome its shyness. The wild cat was never socialized with people at an early developmental stage in its early life. Cats not associated with people as kittens will generally be shy around people for the rest of their nine lives.

Patience is vital in helping your cat overcome his shyness toward people. Reward him whenever he does come out when you have company in your home. A pat on the head or a wonderful cat treat will work wonders sometimes. If your cat plays with a toy while you have a company, that may help relax him.

Some cats will remain anti-social no matter what means we try to help them overcome their shyness. We do not know what they might have gone through in life before we adopted them. They would never forget that if they were treated poorly as a kitten. Naturally, they would not trust people after poor treatment in their early life.

I hope your cat overcomes his shyness. I hope he becomes the life of the party.

Things to do to Help Calm Your Cat

Things to do to Help Calm Your Cat While Traveling and at Home

Cats do not like any changes in their life whatsoever. They may stop using their litter box. They can scratch up your furniture. Your cat may need over-groom or – groom itself. They can find a place to hide when they are nervous or upset.

20150308_150227

When I take a nervous cat to the vet, I like to put a familiar towel or toy in the cage with my cat. I keep talking to my cat on the way to the vet to reassure him everything will be fine.

Cats suffer from stress just as we do. They are scared of a new home, new furniture, or a new pet in the house. Cats get stressed from thunder, the fireworks on the 4th of July, and unfamiliar visitors.

My vet sells a beautiful product called Feliway. My friend had a cat that we took to the vet. Tina was shaking and nervous in her cage. The veterinary assistant sprayed some Feliway spray on a towel and put it in the cage with Tina. Tina calmed down immediately once she smelled Feliway. She was calm and relaxed and collected for her entire vet exam.

The Feliway brochure from my vet mentions what Feliway can accomplish regarding calming your cat down. Feliway helps relieve stress-related behavior by mimicking the natural Feline facial pheromone cats produce. The cat takes the pheromone through special nerve bundles sent to the brain and interpreted. Your cat immediately understands the calming message, and therefore, he is more relaxed.

I once put a Feliway wipe in a cage with a cat that I had got recently. She calmed down immediately. She was relaxed at the vet and on the way home.

Ask your vet if Feliway is suitable for your cat. I would highly recommend this excellent product.

I hope you and your cat have happy and stress-free travels.

Picking Out a Veterinarian

Picking Out a Veterinarian

I have several vets that I can choose from. I like all of my vets equally. I have three different vets that I can take my cats to.

I want a vet that genuinely loves and cares for all pets. I can depend on my vet for a nighttime emergency. My cat Kohl broke his leg at 8:00 PM one evening. My vet put a cast on his leg that evening. He was very concerned about my cat’s pain and immediately gave him a pain pill.

20150427_150702

My vets send reminder cards of when my cats are due for distemper or rabies shots. When I have taken a cat home after being spayed or neutered, they call me to ensure my cat is OK.

Pick out a vet that will answer your questions quickly and accurately. I need a vet that is on call 24/7. Our pets can get very sick in the middle of the night. I do not want to go to a vet in the middle of the night unfamiliar to my cat.

If you are boarding your cat, give them your vet’s contact information, or they will take your pet to their vet on call.

Some of my vets are large and small animal vets. My other vets specialize in small animals only. They will trim my cat’s claws free of charge if I visit them regularly.

My vets are polite, helpful, compassionate, and concerned about my cat’s well-being. They treat my cats gently and always give them a complete checkup when needed.

I hope this helps you pick out a vet for your cat.

How to Treat Your Cats Diarrhea Whats Upsetting My Cat ?

How to Treat Your Cats Diarrhea

An upset digestive system can cause diarrhea, especially in younger cats. Take their food away for one to two days to see if their diarrhea disappears. Never take away their water because they need water to replace fluids lost by having diarrhea. Diarrhea causes one to become dehydrated quickly. Put out fresh water for your cat every day. A dry cat can die.

Changing brands of cat food can cause diarrhea. Overeating foods can cause diarrhea. A cat that eats raw or rotten meat can get diarrhea. Too much milk in your cat’s diet can cause diarrhea.

20150501_200027

A relocated cat can get diarrhea from the stress of being relocated. Worms can cause severe diarrhea in cats.

Feeding your cat white rice with a bit of butter can help relieve your cat’s diarrhea. Canned pumpkin also will help your cat with getting over diarrhea. Your vet sells exceptional canned, dry cat food formulated especially for cats with diarrhea. I have fed my cat canned food for diarrhea, which helped considerably. Your vet also sells pills that will help relieve your cat’s diarrhea. I gave these pills to my cats, which were entirely cured in five days.

The only times my cats have gotten diarrhea is either from worms or being relocated.

I try to keep all of my cats wormed regularly. Do not change foods suddenly, as this can cause digestive issues.

If your cat seems lazy and is not improving, bring him to your vet ASAP.

I hope your cat never develops any digestive issues.
