I have three cats in my house. My cats have a definite order of who is in charge. Kohl is my oldest house cat, and he rules the roost. If Kohl wants to sit on my lap, he gives Garfunkel a gentle nip as if to say get off of Mother’s lap. She is all mine.

Conrad is my youngest house cat. Conrad will lie down next to Garfunkel and expect Garfunkel to clean him. At least after Garfunkel has licked Conrad’s fur clean, he returns the favor. When Conrad is playing with a toy, Garfunkel watches his every move. Garfunkel will then play with the same toy, improving Conrad’s technique.

At bedtime, Garfunkel will lie close to my left shoulder. If Kohl sees him by my shoulder, he gives him a gentle nip so he can lay next to me. Garfunkel will then lie down farther in my bed. Conrad always waits until Garfunkel is in bed before he jumps in for the night.

My friend has an older male cat and a younger female cat. They will fight over which heated cat bed they think is the most comfortable in her house. They give each other a gentle nip until it is relinquished to the other cat.

My cat Cali is part Siamese and rules her house. Cali is always the first to greet me at the door in the morning when I feed my cats. When Addi had her kittens, she was the cat in charge. Cali did not like this, but she put up with it. After Addi’s kittens were about three months old, Cali was in order again.

With cats, there always seems to be an Alpha male or female cat that is the head of all the cats in her or his dominion. It is nature’s way of having a strong leader.

A Cat Owners Daily Routine

My cats are my alarm clock. They generally wake me up by at least 6:00 AM every morning. They start by walking on my stomach or licking my hand.

I feed my cats early in the morning and give them fresh water. I comb or brush my cats, which tend to shed a lot. I generally comb out a small clump of fur from each cat I comb out.

I put my cat’s toys away every morning. It is always interesting to see what they will pick out of their cat toy box to play with for the day. They always pick out at least two catnip-filled toys. Today, they picked out a red toy lobster, a white toy rabbit, a small green dragon toy, and catnip toys.

They take turns sitting on my lap in the afternoon while I pat them on their head. They like sleeping on top of my grandfather’s clock and refrigerator.

My cat next door take sunbathe during the day. They like to sleep on a window sill cat bed. Lorenzo and Russ like to rest on a shelf with clean towels softened with fabric softener.

My cat’s next door get their litter box cleaned again in the afternoon. Some of my cat’s next door rush to make a new deposit to their litter box before I clean them out.

All of my cats get an afternoon or an evening snack. They may get cat treats or canned cat food or tuna canned in water as a treat for the day.

My cat Conrad likes to sleep on a rocking chair in the afternoon. Kohl wants to take sunbathe in the hallway upstairs in the afternoon. Garfunkel rests on the refrigerator, grandfather clock, and the China cabinet.

I love my daily routine of caring for my awesome feline family. I hope your feline family has a beautiful customary way with you.

I have owned many cats in my lifetime. Every cat has its unique personality. Some cats are charming and easygoing, and others are skittish and fast to anger.

I have had several outdoor cats with two quite wild parents. Their kittens were very feral, to begin with. I started patting the kittens every time I fed them in the morning. Slowly the kittens stopped hissing at me. I had gained their mutual trust and respect.

If you are angry and upset, your cat will pick up on that and act more aggressively. Your cat may exhibit aggressive behavior if someone yells or screams in your house. If everyone in your home works calms, cool, and collected, your cat will also. Cats sometimes get sad and angry, just as we do now and then. We all have good and bad days depending on how we feel or what has happened to us during the day. Our feline friends also have their good and bad days.

My house cat Garfunkel is timid with strangers. I gave my cousin a cat toy with a fish that dangled on the end of a pole. He dangled the fish in front of Garfunkel. Garfunkel played with the fish for a long time. Garfunkel and my cousin are now good friends. Garfunkel lets my cousin hold him and pat him on the head now.

Never give your cat a treat after he has exhibited lousy behavior. Your cat will think, I will receive a nice cat treat if I misbehave. Always be consistent in how you correct your cat’s terrible behavior. Don’t let your cat jump on your table and tell him not to one day, and the next day, be fantastic with him sitting on top of your table. Your cat will get mixed signals from you quickly.

Giving a cat a treat is an excellent way to get a shy cat to interact more with you. I pat the cat on the head while he is eating his treat. Please do not hold a cat against his will. A skittish cat against his will makes him more nervous and afraid of people.

Some feral cats that I have adopted have never warmed up to me. I will never know what they have been through in their life. Be kind, compassionate, caring, and loving to all your feline friends.

Always be consistent and kind and loving toward your cat for a cat with the best cattitude possible.

Cats do not like any changes in their life whatsoever. They may stop using their litter box. They can scratch up your furniture. Your cat may need over-groom or – groom itself. They can find a place to hide when they are nervous or upset.

When I take a nervous cat to the vet, I like to put a familiar towel or toy in the cage with my cat. I keep talking to my cat on the way to the vet to reassure him everything will be fine.

Cats suffer from stress just as we do. They are scared of a new home, new furniture, or a new pet in the house. Cats get stressed from thunder, the fireworks on the 4th of July, and unfamiliar visitors.

My vet sells a beautiful product called Feliway. My friend had a cat that we took to the vet. Tina was shaking and nervous in her cage. The veterinary assistant sprayed some Feliway spray on a towel and put it in the cage with Tina. Tina calmed down immediately once she smelled Feliway. She was calm and relaxed and collected for her entire vet exam.

The Feliway brochure from my vet mentions what Feliway can accomplish regarding calming your cat down. Feliway helps relieve stress-related behavior by mimicking the natural Feline facial pheromone cats produce. The cat takes the pheromone through special nerve bundles sent to the brain and interpreted. Your cat immediately understands the calming message, and therefore, he is more relaxed.

I once put a Feliway wipe in a cage with a cat that I had got recently. She calmed down immediately. She was relaxed at the vet and on the way home.

Ask your vet if Feliway is suitable for your cat. I would highly recommend this excellent product.

I am sitting outside with my cats. My cats are taking turns inside their cat playpen. They are enjoying a nice warm and sunny day. The temperature outdoors is only 74 degrees. It is a perfect day to enjoy the great outdoors.

Kohl spent 30 minutes in the cat playpen. I checked on him every so often. Kohl was watching birds and breathing in the lovely fresh air. Kohl was perfectly content and relaxed in the cat playpen.

Russ was thrilled to be in the cat playpen. Russ always tries to get outdoors anytime an opportunity presents itself. Russ was looking up in the tree branches at the squirrels moving around in the trees.

Cali looked around at her surroundings. Cali noticed some blackbirds. The blackbirds kept her interest for some time. Cali kept sniffing at the beautiful fresh air.

All of my cats were thrilled to be outside. The cat playpen is a safe way for your cat to enjoy the great outdoors. Your cat is wholly zipped in the cat playpen. You can stake the playpen to the ground or tie it to your deck. I looked out of my picture window to check on my cats. They were happy and content. I also sat on my deck next to my cats.

I love to sit in a chair and watch my cats. Cats are very relaxing to watch. I love to watch them clean themselves with their paw. It is relaxing to watch a sleeping cat. A cat can help you settle down after a stressful day.

It has been proven that owning a pet helps lower your blood pressure. People that own pets tend to live longer. Cats are an excellent company. Cats are good listeners and never talk back to you.

Cats are good mousers. Cats can catch and kill rabbits that eat away in your garden. Some of my cats have even killed a rat outdoors. Some cats and dogs become the best of friends.

If you are sad and lonely, having a cat in the house will help you have a brighter and happier day. Listening to a cat purr is very relaxing.

Kittens are so much fun to watch. It is fun to watch them play with their mother’s tails. Watching them pounce on leaves that fly around in the wind is fun. A kitten’s curiosity is boundless. Kittens will give you many hours of enjoyment.

Watching your cat throw toy mice up in the air and catch them is a joy. I like to watch my cats chase after balls. My cats love to cuddle with their catnip toys from LoopiesToys.Com. My cat Conrad plays a circle game with a light-up ball in the middle. I like to watch him having fun with that cat toy.

Cats are genuinely excellent companions. A cat can give you many years of happiness, joy, and love. A cat is there for you when you wake up in the morning. When I come home from a long day, my cats meet me at the door. Having a cat is awesome.

Whats Upsetting My Cat ?

Cats like consistency. They do not like changes whatsoever.

I will give you a list of things that may upset your cat:

new cat in the house
a new piece of furniture
a different person in your house
new appliance
different cat litter
different cat food
new bedspread
you’re leaving on a vacation

Your cat might stop using his litter box because he dislikes the new kitten you bought at home. He may start scratching up your furniture.

When I have gone on vacation, my cats have gotten into mischief. They have knocked things down and scattered any paperwork that may be laid out. My cats vomit when I am gone for a long time. They get a nervous stomach. Your cat may have loose stools while you are gone. Leave some clothes out or a blanket that has your scent on it. Leaving these out may calm your cat.

I have had cats quit using their litter box for a while because a new couch was bought into the house. Put the pillows from your old sofa on it for a time. The old pillows will have that familiar scent on them.

When you change cat food, always have the old food available until you are sure they are enjoying the new food.

Have another litter box with your old brand when changing to a different cat litter. This will prevent accidents. I had a new brand of cat litter that the cats would not even go near the litter box with the latest waste in it.

When you buy anything new, introduce your cat slowly and place something with a familiar scent on it.

A new kitten should be placed in a cage or bathroom where they can smell each other through the door. Leave the new kitten there for at least a week, then let him loose. They should all get along fine now.

Make all changes gradually if you can.
