My house cats love to lay on my bed and look out my window at the birds in the trees and bushes. They sort through their toy box daily to pick a cat toy to toss and throw around in the air. Conrad’s favorite toy is a singing bird cat toy at the moment. He loves tossing it in the air again and again.

Bird Watching 101 For Your Cats

I have several bird feeders by my picture window. Put out a large variety of different mixtures of bird seed to attract a large variety of birds. I also put out suet or suet balls from my local grocery store as suet attracts the woodpeckers. My cats watch the following birds: sparrows, blue jays, blackbirds, chickadees, house finches, cardinals, goldfinches, starlings, crows, and woodpeckers.

My cats love to play with their circle toys with a ball that they bat around with their paws. They throw their catnip mice around and toss them up in the air. My house cats love to play with a toy that throws out a string called Flik, made by the Pet Safe Co. They love the mice and cat toys that sound like live mice and the birds that sing like living birds. They love to get their cat treats out of the cat treat dispensers. I have purchased some cat treats and dispensers from Chewy.Com. They love it when I swing a stick with a fish attached to the end of it up in the air as they try to grab it.

My cats enjoy their winter months, and I hope they do too.

Bruton Parish Church Colonial Williamsburg

The Bruton Parish Episcopal Church was built in 1660 and was established in 1674. It is an active Episcopal church with a vast history. The men of the Revolution who attended were Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Patrick Henry, and more. Parishioners sat in boxed pews, their walls providing privacy and protection from drafts. A victory book from 1716 ordered that men sit on the right side of the church and women on the left.

Historical Church

The church served as a hospital and storehouse during the battle at Yorktown and during the Civil War. The church is named after Bruton, Somersetshire, England. Rev. Goodwin restored the church in 1907 and 1937. Bruton Parish Church still has church services in the 300 old parishes.

My friend and I attended a church service on Dec. 16, 2018. Their pastor was excellent, and she gave an outstanding sermon on the high-up pulpit in the church. The acoustics in the church were beautiful. When people sang, it was as if angels were singing. The parishioners in the Bruton Parish Church were very welcoming and very friendly. I felt as if I were attending a service at my church. We had communion, served by each person drinking from a silver wine cup and eating pieces of unleavened bread.

Sermon as it was years ago

We also attended an old-fashioned church service at Bruton Parish Church in the afternoon. It was called ” The Comet Comes To Williamsburg.” It was the re-enactment of George Whitefield’s dynamic presentation of a stirring sermon. He was very loud without any loudspeaker, and he gave you a lot to think about with his rousing speech. He was dressed in the complete attire that a minister would wear at that period. He wore a white wig, black robe, and buckle shoes. Bruton Parish Church is getting a new Pipe Organ that will cost 1 million dollars.

I loved the vast history of this beautiful and magnificent church, as you can genuinely feel that God is present in this church.

We are here to put a smile on someone’s face today. We are here to enrich and empower the lives of others. We should always try to replenish the goods we remove from our planet. If we cut down a tree, we should plant another tree.

Be A Good Steward and Share Your Knowledge

Take time for prayer and thank God for the abundance of goods and beauty to look at daily. Plant and harvest goods that will be beneficial for the well-being of others. Be a good steward of the land. Always harvest and replenish the goods that you remove from our planet. We must keep a clean and productive world that future generations can enjoy for many years.

If you see someone in need, lend a helping hand, as you might be on the receiving end someday. Be kind and helpful, and considerate in everything that you pursue. God and others always watch and learn from your actions, as actions speak louder than words.

Teach people what you know, and do not take your knowledge to the grave, as no one will ever benefit from that mindset. Be outgoing, creative, and motivated to make the World a better place for you and me. A friend in need is a friend indeed, as the old saying goes.

Greet people friendly and outgoing, as your attitude always shows. Welcome people with open arms, and always remember there is always more room at the kitchen table for a surprise guest or two.

Be Kind and Enrich The Lives Of Others

Be kind to all the animals in the World, as we are their stewards here on Earth. Animals depend on us to keep a clean environment for them that is free from toxic hazards that can kill them. Constantly replenish and renew the Earth for future generations to come. With all of us being God’ss stewards,s we are making the World a better place for future generations. Always empower and enrich people’s lives and protect our resources and animals. Always put your garbage where it belongs, and don’t pollute the Earth. We have a planet that can sustain life for many years if we empower and enrich our World every day that we are here on Earth. Go forth and be God’s stewards that save the World.

We had a tour of James Fort. The buildings had thatched roofs. They had a storehouse, court of the guard, and church representing 1610 – 1614.

FOOD AND THE SETTLERS AT JAMESTOWN

At the Jamestown Settlement, they had baked bread made on one of the tables created with whole wheat and other grains. Small baked mincemeat pies were cooling off on a table in the kitchen. They had a smoke and salt-cured ham hanging on a rope in the kitchen. I asked the man in the kitchen what the leading cause of death was when the settlers died. Fifty percent of their population died the first few years they settled in Jamestown. He explained that they died from salt poisoning and dysentery. Salt was used to cure and preserve most of their foods. Five people would sleep in one bed as that was how it was done then.

The woodworker was working on drilling holes and making handles for hammers, etc. There was an outdoor brick oven and a blacksmith shop. Several colorful chickens were walking around on the grounds.

MEDICAL CARE AT YORKTOWN

We had a tour of Yorktown and saw the trenches where they had fought in the American Revolution. We went to the Continental Army Encampment. I visited with an army Dr., who said war casualties were very high. The 50-caliber musket would do significant bodily injury to you. He would dig out the piece of lead and give you whiskey for the pain. The Doctor would do bloodletting and drill holes in your skull to relieve pressure which they believed would help remove the disease from your body. They had a bone saw for removing fingers. They had different compounds for making medicine. The medicine was flavored with licorice root to make swallowing more accessible and tolerable. They stayed in small tents, and five men slept in one tent. Almost all soldiers who lived after being shot died one week later from horrible complications. The soldiers would get pneumonia and dysentery. They only had something similar to Vicks vapor rub to help them breathe better and loosen congestion.

We had a self-guided tour of the American Revolution Museum in Yorktown, Virginia. I took many pictures inside the museum of the guns, etc. The museum offers a national perspective on the struggle for independence from the 13 British American colonies. It is locaterica’s historic triangle, including Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. The battle at Yorktown was where American Independence was won.

Do Not Linger

If you spend a long time on things that happened in the past, you are lingering in the past and never will be able to move forward with your life. Remember, the past is the past, and live for the future. Think of a hobby you could pursue or a good cause you could support.

If you linger about buying a car or a new home, you might miss out on your dream home or car. People that do not remain get a lot done in one day. God does not stay, for he is always watching over every one of us every day of our lives.

Do not overthink things, as you will stay in place longer than necessary because of a reluctance to leave. Lingering around robs you of good times in your life. I tend not to remain long in one place as I always have many things I want to get done in one day. I purchased a home in one hour from start to finish, and I never regretted it. If I had lingered on buying the home, someone else would have bought the house.

Do not wait for the perfect time to do the necessary things. Pay your bills quickly as you might misplace the bill and have to pay the penalty also. Travel while you can because life can throw you a curve ball regardless of age.

Do not stagnate and get too comfortable in life. See what you can do today to make a positive and lasting difference in your life and the lives of others. Do not linger on your dreams for your life, as your life keeps moving forward even though you are not. Do not linger; you will accomplish much to please God and those you love.

When things are moving along fine in our lives, we seem to take it for granted. God is always our guide if we listen to him. We tend to pray more when in the hallows and shallows of our life. God wants us to thank him every day in our lives. God will never leave your side when you are in pain or suffering. God knew us even before we were born and knows what we will do on earth and what we will be like in heaven.

Let God always be your compass in life, and you will never be lost as he will guide your every step in life. God knows what you are thinking about every waking moment in your life. Do not let possessions control you or own you. God is the one that has provided all of your possessions while you are on earth. You do not own or have controls, for God has provided them to use while you are on the ground. We come into this world with nothing and leave with nothing except knowing God’s kingdom is open to whoever believes in him.

Sing praises to God daily. Without God, none of us would be on earth. Thank God for the food, clothes, and much more he has provided you. Praise God for your family and friends, animals, trees, and all of nature’s bounty and beauty.

I find great comfort in knowing God is always by my side through thick and thin. Without God, we would not be the people we are today. God has always protected me and comforted me in the best of times and the very worst of times. God is my pilot and my ultimate guide in life. Thank you, God, for I am truly blessed today and always with you by my side, guiding me to do the best I can do while I am on earth and until we meet again.

We had a tour of the Courthouse in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Our guide explained how the Courtroom proceedings were handled years ago.

Crimes varied from thefts to horse stealing and fights that got out of control. Some people that stayed in an inn did not pay their bills, so the innkeeper took them to court. More potent offenses were handled in a different court.

A jury of your peers would judge you and meet in a private room in the courthouse until their decision was reached. There was also a private room for the judge and lawyers to meet in. The judge would hand down the sentence, which could be very severe. You could be hung, branded for life, put in the fence, etc. Your ears would be nailed to boards on the wall. They would cut your ears open to remove the nails from your ears once your sentence was served out in full. If you were lucky, you could work off your debt to society and not be scared for life.

The reason why we say pass the bar exam for future lawyers. The bar was in front of the gate that opened in front of the courtroom. The judge, lawyers, and jury would sit in that area. The people watching or the general public would sit back in the bar. So when you pass your bar exam, you are a lawyer that has earned the right to sit up in front of the bar with the judge, other lawyers, and jury.

On court days, many people would gather around the courthouse to participate in public affairs within their community. George Washington had been in the original courthouse in Williamsburg, Virginia, to watch a trial.

United means unified, integrated, joined, merged, shared purpose, familiar feelings, joint activity, and multiple nations. The United States is a blend of joined and merged people from other countries that settled here for a common purpose. People wanted to leave the country they came from to better themselves and their families. The immigrant may have been born last and did not inherit the family farm, so they settled in the USA, the land of plenty. America means freedom for all.

Unity means the state of being united or joined as a whole. Unity holds us together for a common cause. The United States of America has a blending of people from all over the world who have merged or joined. Every person wants the opportunity to succeed in life and prosper from hard work, which is impossible in some countries.

A united church means that people come together for the common practice of worship and are joined together in prayer. A united church has many people that get together to help others in this country and other countries worldwide. Without unity, a church could not survive. When you are united, you have a large family of like-minded people who can accomplish much because they all have the same purpose: to worship God and be his good stewards. The old saying goes, “united we stand and divided we fall,” which applies today and always. Without a united front, not much gets accomplished.

Unity will always tie and bind us together so we can reach our dreams and help others achieve them. Unify yourself with people in your church and community, and you will be surprised what you can accomplish and get done for a better and improved tomorrow.
