Cats And Problems

Older And Younger Cats

Sometimes a younger cat will get too ambitious and attack an older cat in your household. Try to separate them for a while. Most of the time, the younger one is jealous of the older cat, especially if you pay more attention to your senior cat. Cats can get very jealous quickly, and they may pounce on your older cat as they would a younger cat. Your older cat may start having accidents because they are afraid to use the litter box for fear of the younger cat attacking them. Please watch your cats interact and tell the younger cat to stop that behavior right now. Cats respond to changes in your tone of voice.

Take Your Cat To The Vet  If  They Start Having  Accidents

Your Vet can check and make sure it is not a UTI, bladder problem, diabetes, or something else that may be causing the accidents. If your cat is a senior, they may be too arthritic to get into their litter box anymore, so you will have to buy one with lower sides so they can get in and out quickly. I have placed a litter box in my bathroom over the years for my senior cats, as going down to the basement is no longer an option.

Two Female Cats In Your Household

I have always had issues when I try to have two female cats in my house. One female cat wants to be queen of the house forever, not letting the other female cat enter the Living Room when I read or watch TV. I finally stopped having more than one female cat in my house. I have two male cats and one female cat, a calico-part Siamese.

Related Cats

My cats in the other house are brothers, brother and sister, and Mother and daughter, and they get along beautifully. The others, except for the unrelated cats, have very few disagreements. If there are disagreements, they are over the food dish now and then, as one brother does not want the other to get more than his fair share, in his mind. It is so fun to watch a cat family interact over the years as they remain very close and care deeply for one another. My cats grieved when they lost their Mother and Father just as humans do—they were very quiet, and then they would make the saddest meowing sound.

The Aging Cat

I have noticed that at about age 10 or 15, health problems start to arise. One of my cats died from cancer at age ten, and another one died of liver cancer. One of my female cats lived to be 18 with hardly any health issues. My oldest male lived to be 18, and he was an outdoor cat. One of my cats got a back issue where he could not control his bladder at age 17. One of my house cats died from nose and mouth cancer at age 13. I have my cats put to sleep when the diagnosis has no cure. I do not want to see any cat suffer. Make the right decision and put your cat to sleep so they can cross the rainbow bridge, be reunited with their cat family, and be completely free of pain in the comfort of God’s healing hands.
