God Will Direct You

God knows what he wants you to do when you retire, and he will guide you and show you the way. When one door closes, God will open another door for you with much more behind that door. I became a lay minister for my church, and I love to call people on the phone and read my inspirations with laura post to them. I also visit with them, and I learn a great deal from our visits. I play my harmonicas at some assisted living facilities and rest homes. I love visiting people at the rest homes and look forward to our visits. I love to try to lift people’s spirits and listen to their joys and concerns. God knows all about you and where you can do the most good at whatever point you are on your life’s journey.

Gardening

I love gardening, and it offers bountiful harvests of many different types, such as exercise, enjoying the great outdoors, and eating healthy vegetables. Working the soil and raising crops gives one a great sense of accomplishment. It has been proven that gardeners are more mobile, fit, and trim than those who do not. I love mowing my yard and keeping my place looking neat and trim. I also love to keep my trees trimmed and bushes and brush under control. I use a small chainsaw that takes care of most tree trimming.

Travel

If you have not traveled much, start now, as one’s health and body can deteriorate quickly, making travel impossible. If you have a particular location, make plans to go there and enjoy the food, sights, and people and see all that you want to see in the time frame that you have allocated. Traveling with someone you know who enjoys the same things you do makes the vacation twice as lovely, and you will share and cherish those moments forever.

Get Out With Friends

In retirement, the worst thing you can do is stay in your house and be bored. Friends make even the bad times good by knowing what to say to you and motivating you in the right direction. If someone wants to be a friend with you, never say no if you think the friendship would work out well for both of you. One can never have too many good and trusted friends. God put family and friends on earth to help us along our journey in life.

If You Have A Desire To Do Something You Always Wanted To Do Now Is The Time

If you want to write and publish a book, write a song, do artwork, and much more, go for it. Some people have an old car that belonged to their Father, which they have always wanted to redo, and they now have time to make that dream a reality. You may want to remodel your home or downsize, so do it now and enjoy it for many years. Never put things off, or you may never get your dream completed. Think positive and keep your mind active with lifelong learning classes, reading, crossword puzzles, and more. I hope you enjoy a happy and healthy retirement for many years.

Cats Instinctively Know How To Help Us Feel Better

If Your cat sees you crying, he will lie next to you and purr away softly or look into your eyes with a concerned and compassionate look. It is like a cat can look into your inner sanctum. Cats will always comfort you while you are sick or have a general ill feeling. Cats seem able to read our thoughts and know what our emotions mean. Cats have been known to come into a dying person’s room shortly before their death. Some cats have laid down next to the dying person to help them on their journey home to heaven.

Your Cat May Save Your Life

Several people have had a cat that could dial 911 somehow, and that was the call that saved their lives. God’s creatures have a place on earth and were created to help us. Treat God’s creatures with the utmost respect and love at all times. One of God’s creatures may save your life someday. Cats have detected gas leaks, upcoming earthquakes, tornadoes, and more. Listen and watch your cats’ reactions, which may save your life someday.

Companionship

Cats make excellent companions. I have read that a cat’s brain is similar to ours, at least 90 percent identical. Cats have inspired poets, writers, and artists. Many artists have had a cat in their famous artworks. Many books are written about cats and their adventures and caring for cats. Edgar Allen Poe wrote about his cat. Ernest Hemmingway way loved his cats. Many famous people have owned cats and have a deep bond with their feline forever friends. We offer our cats companionship, and they give it back to us 10 fold. Sailors have had a cat mascot on their sailing vessels. Their cats keep Vermin off the ships, and the sailors take turns caring for the cat or cats. It has been said that the Manx cats on the Isle Of Mann jumped off of a sailing vessel, and that was how the colony of Manx cats got started in the Isle Of Mann.

Cats Love To Hang Out With Humans

They knew that we would feed them and they could keep warm by our campfires. Cats kept our grain free of Vermin, and the Siamese and Egyptian cats were highly praised, and they would be buried with their human caretakers. Cats fell out of favor once with the Salem Witch Trials. Cats have moved up worldwide and live in warm, cozy homes worldwide. Sometimes, a stray cat will show up at your doorstep, and you start feeding him, and then he earns a place in your home. I have had many cats over the years, each with distinct personalities. When they die, it leaves a deep void in your heart. Adopt a cat whenever you can, as you will save one of God’s fantastic creatures. Treat all pets with love, kindness, compassion and respect. God bless and protect our feline friends as they protect us.

Never Fit People Into Categories

Some People Like To Put People Into Neat Little Categories

No one fits into a neat little category. All of us bring something different to the table. One person may excel in something, and the other person does not. I guarantee that everyone will excel at something if given a chance and not put into a category. If you teach young people, never put them in a category as it could scar them for life.

Never Make Fun Of Someone Because Of How They Look Or Dress

If you have been painting all day, you may wear your paint clothes while you have coffee or eat out. Years ago, one party saw me in my paint clothes and told me things must be going badly for me. People may dress however they wish, which is a good thing. No one can say anything about what they wear for the day. On pajama work days, people can wear pajamas to work. Blue Jeans and sweatpants have been accepted for years.

Young People And Teenagers

There are good and bad people. We tend to read bad things about teenagers in newspapers. I have met many wonderful teenagers over the years. They are polite, kind, and caring. One young woman held a door open for me the other day, and I thanked her for doing so. I had a young boy about eight years old hold a door open for me, and another woman said, “You raised your son right,” which she did. One young lady was willing to give her seat on a bus to any older woman, and her Mother told her no. Someday, her Mother will be old, and maybe no one will give up their seat on a bus or train for her.

Senior Citizens

We can learn a lot by listening to our elders, as they have experienced and seen much in their lifetimes. Listen to people’s stories from the past, and you will be enlightened. Maybe they do not know modern technology, but they still know much more than you do. Life is about what you have learned through the years and how you pass that valuable knowledge along to the next generation, and hopefully, it will continuously get passed down. I love to visit with Senior citizens as I learn something new and valuable every time I talk to them. People are always willing to share their stories with you if you only take the time to visit with them and listen.

Everyone Contributes To Society In Different Ways

Maybe some people do not have glamorous jobs, but without them doing that job, a link in the chain would be broken, and the work could not be completed as scheduled. We all have to contribute to make a positive impact at work or in the world. We are all servants of God and should strive to teach God’s good works to the masses. Contribute, learn, be kind, loving, and compassionate, listen to others, and serve others.

Alpha Male Cats

Top Tom Cats

They tend to sit up high and look out of windows or sit on a post or anywhere with a high vantage point over their dominion. The top toms soon let all the other cats in your household know that they better tread lightly since they are the top-ranking cats. I have two top toms in my house next door. Winchester and Peter always look out the window to warn others of any danger, birds or squirrels they may see. When they see me coming over in the morning, they tell Faith, and she jumps up to look out. She tells the others while they remain on guard duty until I open the door and serve their food and fresh water.

Top Toms Keep Everyone In Line

They do not take any flack from any of the other cats whatsoever. Faith has claws, and everyone else is declawed. If she smacks Winchester, he returns the favor until she runs away. Cali used to live next door before she became a cat in my house. Cali would go after Winchester, and he would take it to begin with, and then he started to defend himself. Cali could not seem to help herself since she is part Siamese. She started losing weight and could not defend herself at all anymore, as her kidneys were not functioning well. I have given her treatment for her condition for four years now, and she is doing well with my mild-mannered males in my house.

Outdoor Top Toms

If they are brothers, they band together, and any strange Tom cat generally will run for his life when it is three against one. My male house cat once decided he must go outdoors and ran away from me. I heard a terrible commotion in one of the outdoor buildings. My resident toms had ganged up on him, but luckily, he hid in a tight area between hay bales. He never tried that again and was glad to return to my house with no drama or wounds. I generally had gentle outdoor toms that treated my female cats respectfully and did not harm them.

Top Toms As Housecats

Having two male cats and one female is OK in your home. Female cats tend not to get along well with other females, as there seems to be a rivalry about the top female cat. In my house next door, they seem to all get along; since I do not live there, there is no need to be the top cat to get my attention as far as sitting on my lap. Top toms work out fine as housecats if no female cat is trying to slap or start a fight with them. I prefer male housecats as they tend to put up with more and like to be held and petted. Some females leap off your lap immediately and will only be close to you when they feel like it. I have had several females who were excellent lap cats, but the males put up with more generally.

Most of us Look Forward To Upcoming Events

I love to make travel plans with a friend, and I am overjoyed as time gets closer to when we take off on our vacation. Trips are fun and relaxing, and I love historic places and events. Looking forward to things keeps a person happy and content. Attending college, meeting new people, and taking classes that will enrich your life. What you learn can never be taken away from you as you will always retain that knowledge that will take you far and broaden your horizons regarding what you can achieve. An idle mind wastes time; you must keep enriching and learning new things daily. A friend once told me it is good to learn something new every day, and she was right. I was on a trip with a friend, and she wanted to attend church on Sunday. I foolishly said we were on vacation. She immediately told me what if God wanted to take a vacation on Sunday when we needed him desperately. I immediately said I would go to church. I am so glad we attended church on Sundays, as I enjoyed listening to the sermons and visiting with the parishioners. I learned a lot about each church and who started the church in each community. The people in church invited us to eat with them after church. Always attend church whenever you can while traveling.

We Look Forward To Exciting Challenges, Marriage, Children And More

Do something that challenges you now and then. See how many of your favorite kinds of books you can read in one year. Start an exercise regimen and watch those unwanted pounds shed away; you will be happier and healthier. Marrying the love of your life, spending many memorable and quality moments together, and having children and grandchildren that will carry on after you are gone are goals of many. I look forward to concerts and listening to people’s life stories. I like to look at new artwork at my local art museum and look at things in historical museums.

We Will Have Many Events Take Place In Our Life Over The Years

As we age, we will have health issues that we must get through, hopefully with loved ones by our side. I have noticed that some people in nursing homes have no one who comes to visit them except once a year. If you see or know such a person, contact them as they will enjoy your company. I am sure they would like to share their life story with you, and you will take away much by listening to them. As we get older, we do not want drama in our lives. We want peace, security, understanding, compassion, respect, love, and people who will go the extra mile to ensure we are happy, well cared for, and loved. Surround people with love, peace, joy, and hope, and make sure they live the best life possible. God bless those that touch the lives of others in positive ways.

Don’t Be So Judgmental

Don’t reem people out, as you do not know what they may be going through. You do not know about someone’s health just by looking at them. Others cannot see some diseases, aches, and pains but have ongoing health issues. Don’t get upset if someone does something you may think is not right until you find out why they did it the way they did. Why upset someone unnecessarily unless you get a sick kick out of it, and it is your power trip? If so, I feel sorry for you. We will all have many rivers and valleys to overcome in our lifetimes, and we hope we can make it with help from caring, compassionate, and kind people leading and helping us.

Sometimes, People See Your Kindness As A Weakness, And They Try To Take Advantage Of You

Stand your ground and never let anyone take you down. Stand up for what is right and just. Kind people learn to defend the ones they love with the power of a Mother Lion. Compassionate people love their friends dearly and will always go the extra mile for them. Beware if you try to prevent them from seeing and helping their friends. A fierce storm will brew in them, unleashing it whenever you want to prevent them from having a good day with their friends.

God Knows What Is Right And Just

God watches everyone and everything you do every day. Think about that and ponder it the next time you try to pull a fast one on someone. It will catch up with you and haunt you forever. Life seems unfair sometimes, but it will be when all is said and done. Do you want people to remember you as a kind person or a judgmental person? Kindness is not a weakness; it is what we need more of in the world to make it a happy place for all. God is kind to us. We must practice and follow God’s path and be kind to all. If one has a problem and others cannot see it, you must tell them so they return to the right path. People cannot see their issues sometimes, but they certainly can see yours if it is visible. People see and hear what they want. God hears and sees all, and he is the only one entitled to judge man.

Life Has Good People And Bad People

Try to seek out the good people in your life and weed out the bad ones, as they will continue to bring you down. Your circle should be people who lift you and make the dark days bright and cheery. If someone uses you, get them out of your life; the pattern will continue and never end. When one door closes in your life, a better door will open. Friends will stay with you through all the turbulent times and good times and never falter in their love for you and your well-being. God bless our dear and loving friends.

Get Out With People Often

If you do not get out with friends, you may dwell on problems. By getting out with friends, you can take your mind off your worries and focus on the positives in your life. If you lock yourself away like a hermit, you will continuously think of all the negative things that have happened to you. Friends lift your spirits and bring out the sunshine on the darkest days. A friend may suggest a fun outing or adventure you will remember for many years. You can always join a club of some kind. My grandmother belonged to a book club and made many friends just by being in that book club. If your local college has lifelong learning classes, take some of them as the classes will enrich your mind, and you will also make new friends. Go to a concert or a movie, and you will meet people from all different walks of life by just going to various events in your area or out of town. I hope you have been blessed to have traveled with friends and that you can cherish those wonderful memories forever.

Travel

I have been blessed to have an excellent travel companion over the years. She is older than me, but age makes no difference. We are very good friends. We do not take as long of trips as we did years ago, but we both enjoy each other’s company and make each other laugh. Travel while you can because you never know what lies down the road, as your health could change in a heartbeat. Traveling with someone who likes the same things you do and wants to experience the area’s foods, soak in the atmosphere, and take in as many events as possible is a blessing. I encourage everyone to find a friend to travel with as travel opens up a gateway of knowledge. I found out about my ancestors and walked on the same ground as they had before me. I visited the farm where my great-grandfather grew up as a child, and I visited with some of my cousins, which was a wonderful and memorable experience that I will hold dear forever.

Stay Focused On God

Staying focused on God is the primary key to living life to its full potential. If you do not, you will be like a ship lost at sea without a lighthouse or compass to lead it back to a safe harbor. Sometimes, we tend to drift away from God when we have smooth sailing, and then we ask God for help when we have turmoil. God does not want a rainy-day friend. He wants you to praise him in good and bad times. God has answered many of my prayers, for which I am immensely grateful. God knows what you need in your life and when to give it. Life is perplexing and complex as it has many curves and valleys, mountains, and treacherous events to get through, but with faith and God’s guidance, you will make it.

Squirrel Antics

I observed one of my male fox squirrels eating bird food that fell out of the birdfeeder on the ground, drinking out of the bird bath, and eating black walnuts from the walnut tree. One time, I placed peanuts in their hulls on my picture windowsill, and he started looking in the window at me and my cats now and then. As time passed, he became more comfortable observing me and my cats. I purchased more peanuts, and he became almost a tame squirrel when approaching the window. I also would place popcorn on the ground by the birdfeeders as that seemed to entice him.

My Squirrel Became A TV Fan Of Old Time Westerns And More

He seemed to be able to tell time as he would come up to the window when Gunsmoke started at the very moment it started. He would watch the program, as would my cats and me. One day, he watched most of Gunsmoke until he observed three of his squirrel friends playing and chasing each other up and down the various trees, with the walnut tree being their favorite tree. The TV program Little House On The Prairie also was a big hit with him. He came up to the window just as the program started and watched one-half of the program until a squirrel fight broke out on the ground; he ran after them and broke up their fight. After that, he sat in the walnut tree, crunching and cracking walnuts. He came up to watch Little House On The Prairie while he ate and munched away on a walnut. He watched the program for twenty minutes, then decided to rest on a branch in the walnut tree. He did not move a muscle and blended perfectly with the tree branch. He watched a car race one day and a man repairing furniture.

One Day, I Forgot To Turn On The TV In Time

The day I forgot to turn on the TV, he made quite a racket outside as he made this high-pitched clicking sound. He figured he would give me a what four for forgetting his schedule of favorite TV programs. I turned on the TV, but he thought the last ten minutes would not inform him much about what happened, and he left with his tail all bushed out and fluffy. I turn it on for him without fail when I am home as I love the old classic TV programs myself.

My Fox Squirrel Is Very Fun To Watch

If you want a furry little friend to watch, place peanuts or walnuts on the ledge of your windowsill. Also, have a birdfeeder and a birdbath in your yard so they will have water to drink. You could turn on your TV and see what shows your squirrel prefers. My little furry Squirrel friend is intelligent and loves TV, pets, and playing and frolicking with his squirrel friends. He wishes he was one of my indoor pets.

Don’t Wait Until The Last Minute To Get Things Done

I try to get everything done ahead of schedule. If you procrastinate and wait until the last minute to get things done, you will regret it. If an emergency shows up, you will have an awful time trying to play catch up because you did not get things done that could have been done when you had the time. I’m not too fond of it when someone says they can do a project for me at a specific time and do not come, as that upsets my schedule of things to get done. Work fast and do not take shortcuts and many breaks, for people do not want to pay you for just sitting around and smoking. I have observed many workers over the years, watching one worker actually working with everyone else watching him. Never let yourself get into that position; speak up and ask others to do their fair share. Shop early for presents, or if the price of gas or food is rising, stock up now and be prepared early. Get your equipment ready for winter so you will not have a significant problem in a blizzard and be stranded and practically frozen.

Dashing Around At The Last Minute

Buy the Christmas presents that are hot on the list for kids this winter. If you wait, you can get into a war over who grabbed the item first, as there is always a limited amount of it on the shelves in the store. I have seen many parents madly dashing around from store to store, trying to find that toy that every kid on the planet must have for Christmas this year. Shop early and save yourself from stressing out over one Christmas gift. Some people wait until the day before Christmas to buy their presents, and then they feel overwhelmed as most things on their list are unavailable at this late hour. Dashing around from store to store is not my idea of fun shopping. I want to be prepared early and look everything over without a mob of people in the store.

Remember The True Reason For The Christmas Season

Some people think Christmas is all about gifts and what they will receive for Christmas this year. Christmas is not all about gifts or all about you. Think of how you can help the less fortunate at Christmas. Christmas is all about the birth of Christ, our Lord and Saviour. Think of everything God has given you in your lifetime and celebrate his birth and what he has done for you and others. Sing praises to God without ceasing. Show God’s love to others this Christmas season. Surprise someone with a gift certificate and tell them it is a gift from God, which is as if you have been blessed so that you can give them a gift certificate. God, thank you for everything you have done to enrich our lives and help us enhance the lives of others with the love you freely give us.
