Liver Cancer

My Wondeful Cat that Died from Liver Cancer

I adopted a young male cat that I had found at a restaurant. A friend and I went out to eat, and I spotted a beautiful cat under a car. My friend had taken some of her food homes. Luckily she had some butter with her. We spent at least one hour trying to catch him. I put some of the butter on the tip of my finger. Finally, he came and licked the butter off the end of my finger. I was able to grab him by the nape of his neck. My friend held him on the way home to my house. When we arrived at my place, he purred and purred.

The poor cat was full grown and only weighed three pounds. I put him in quarantine for about four months. I took him to my vet for a check-up and shots. He put weight on slowly. I feed him dry cat food and canned cat food from the vet with particular nutrients. He gained more weight on the food from the vet. He finally reached a weight of eleven pounds.

I bathed him, and he loved to be in the water, which is unusual for cats. Once, he jumped in the bathtub on his own and splashed around in the water.

He liked my house cats immediately, and they wanted him as well. They wanted to play with toy mice together. He tried to sleep in my bed at night and on a recliner. He was friendly and would lie on my lap or follow me around the house.

When he was eight, he developed a high temperature of 106 degrees. He was listless and lying under a chair. I touched his forehead. His head felt very hot. I took his temperature and saw that it was way too high. Your cat’s temperature should be 101.3 degrees. The vet said I saved his life by taking his temperature and taking him to the vet right away. He got better on a round of antibiotics. Ask your vet how to take your cat’s temperature, which may save his life someday.

He became listless two years later. His appetite was waning. I took him to my vet. He put my cat through many tests and discovered he had liver cancer. His ears were yellow, and his skin was under his hair. His urine was dark brown due to his liver cancer. I took him back home for about one week. He continued to get worse. I took him to my vet and had him put to sleep. I still miss him dearly. He was a lovely, loving cat. I cannot stand to see any pet suffer. Remember, putting your beloved cat to sleep is always better than watching them suffer.

Litter Box Issues

Litter Box Issues

Some cats like spotless litter boxes or will not use them. I clean my litter boxes 2 to 3 times a day.

Cats get used to certain brands of cat litter. They will not use the brand you put out for them if they do not like it. I tried crystal cat litter once, but they did not use it.

I had a Siamese cat that was very meticulous about her cat litter box. She started using my rubber tree plant as a litter box. I gave her two litter boxes, and the problem was solved.

In a multi-cat household, have at least one extra litter box. If you have three cats, have four or more litter boxes. This will avoid the nonuse of the litter box.

Sometimes when you get a new cat, your old cats will entirely use their litter box. This is your cat’s way of letting you know their thoughts about the new cat. Again add an extra litter box and spend more time with your old cats. They are feeling neglected now.

If your cat has a health issue, it may stop using its litter box. Take your cat to the vet and have them checked for worms or a bladder infection.

I used a different scented litter one day. They did not like it at all. Stay with your brand of litter if they want it. If you must switch brands, also have the old one available for their use. This will help them make the transition gradually.

Cats like a litter box that is easy for them to access. They want their litter box where you cannot watch them use it. They like their privacy when they are using their litter box.

I keep my litter boxes in my basement. Keeping litter boxes in the basement will make your main floor smell much better. I have also put a litter box in my bathroom for my older cats.

I buy litter boxes that are large and sturdy. I bought one at a discount store once, and it immediately got holes in the bottom. I like metal litter scoops. All of the plastic spoons I have had a break in a short amount of time. Wash and clean out your litter boxes thoroughly with a pet-safe cleaner—a clean litter box results in a healthier cat and a lovely pleasant, smelling home.
