The Unveiling Of The Little Red Ridding Hood Sculpture In Honor Of My Parents

The Little Red Riding Hood Sculpture was unveiled at approximately 10 AM on August 8th, 2017, at The Mason City Public Library in Mason City, Iowa, in honor of my parents, Mr. & Mrs. Elmer B. Weers.

unveiling

Mary Markwalter, the Director of the Mason City Public Library, gave an excellent dedication speech about the Little Red Riding Hood Sculpture in honor of my parents. For more information on the library, go to: mcpl.org.

I gave a dedication speech about the Little Red Riding Hood sculpture in honor of my parents. My Father farmed all his life in Mason City, Iowa, and my parents had a rental property in the Mason City area. My Mother worked in a college library for two years, and she was once a school teacher and worked in the Mason City Public Library for many years. She was a young adult librarian working in the reference room and at the circulation desk. The wolf sculpture represents the wolf’s free spirit; we all have free souls and can read books and learn knowledge that will last us a lifetime. A librarian spreads knowledge through books, one book at a time until the books fill a vast library of knowledge you can use daily. My Mother was kind to people and always went the extra mile to help people at the library. My Mother would find books for them, help them with genealogy, and much more.

We should serve God, Honor Thy Mother and Thy Father, and be kind, compassionate, and loving. Bring Joy, Hope, Love, and Peace into people’s lives daily. Always remember the Lord came to serve and not to be done.

Your Legacy is how people remember you after you are gone. Have you left a legacy that will be proud of you for future generations? Have you made God and your parents proud of you while you have lived on Earth? Always try to do things that honor the values and teachings of God and your parents. Your Legacy is not about wealth or money. It is all about making the World a better place with the time that God gave you on Earth; make other people’s lives more accessible for them while you are on Earth, and you will have left an everlasting Legacy that will make your children, parents, and God proud of you. God Bless all of you today and always.

Isaiah 64- 8       But now, O Lord, thou art our Father, we are the clay, and thou our potter, and we are the work of thy hand.     We all start as a formless ball of clay, and God leads us along to form the perfect shape for our lives. We have many purposes: Mother, Father, caregiver, comforter, teacher, lawyer, farmer, librarian, minister, builder, doctor, and many more necessary professions. Let God make you the vessel you are supposed to be on Earth. You want to be a vessel that will enrich other people’s lives. Always be a good steward so people can see God’ss light shining through you and all you do. Do what you excel at doing, and always learn from your mistakes. No one is perfect but strives for the best you can be and spread God’s good works, and you will be the ideal vessel on Earth. Go out today and be God’s vessel.

We had an excellent reception in the Mason City Room at the public library following the Little Red Riding Hood Sculpture unveiling. Mary told us the history behind the book Little Red Riding Hood, which was quite interesting.

I saw the sculpture I purchased to honor my parents on the River City Sculptures on Parade Route, a 1.7-mile walk designed to lead people on a looping route to the Cultural Crescent and back to the central core of Mason City, Iowa. For more info, go to: sculpturesonparade.com. The Mason City Chamber of Commerce at masoncityia.com will help you purchase a sculpture. Sculptures are an excellent way to honor or remember a loved one or to support a cause. The sculptures beautify Mason City, Iowa.

A special Thank You to the Mason City Public Library, The Chamber of Commerce, the gifted people that make the sculptures, my friends, and everyone who helped me honor my parents today and for future generations. God bless you in all that you do.

Respect

Respect

What does it mean to have respect for someone? You care about the person and treat them as you would want to be treated. Respect is a two-way street. If someone does not respect you, it is tough to respect them. You must have consideration and honor for a person’s well-being as one aspect of the standard of respect. Sometimes respect has to be learned through your actions to treat others honorably and with complete and total respect toward themselves and others. Your actions speak louder than words.

20170607_194844

Do you feel compassion, love, joy, and hope around a person you respect? If not, is there no respect in your relationship with that person? By addressing a person as Doctor or Mr. or Mrs., etc. Shows a sign of respect for that person. A simple act of holding a door open for a person shows a sign of respect. To offer a sign of concern for people’s well-being, visiting the sick, and helping the poor is respectful and shows the sign of a good steward.

20170726_202712

I have always found it easy to respect my elders and others in authority. I respect other people’s property and treat it as if it were my own. If you borrow something from someone, give it back to them in the same condition as when you borrowed it or return it in a better shape.

Do not take people for granted. Show appreciation often. Do not make snap judgments about people, as you may have the same fault yourself and not even see it in you. Always remember that respect will get you much farther in life than disrespect. Respect God, property, animals, and people, and always be truthful, compassionate, loving, and caring.

Center Yourself

Center Yourself

Psalm 31 : 3 – 7

Thou art, my rock, and my fortress; their namesake, lead and guide me.

Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me; for thou art my strength.

Into thy hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord God of truth.

I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust the Lord.

I will be glad and rejoice in my mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities ;

Center yourself with God. Put God first and foremost and center your life around God. God knows when you need him and will always answer your call for help and guidance. He will guide you in a direction that will help you and others become what his plans for you are here on Earth.

20150830_072601

Be humble and kind, and caring in all works that you put forth. Be compassionate and always try to think if I had the same problem that person has, how would I want them to act around me? By centering yourself with God, you can answer questions like these correctly every time.

Be yourself, and do not try to impress people that are not worth impressing. Your true friends know what you are all about and do not need you to impress them. We show you our true intentions through our actions, not our words.

20151027_142913

God should always come first, and then family and friends. God will get you through the darkest of moments in your life. Our lives can and do take many turns in our lifetime. Always reflect on whether this is the turn God wants me to make in my life. Think before you act. Please do not send a complaint letter until you have let it sit for three days, as you may not find it necessary to send it anymore after you have cooled down. Never react too quickly without thinking things over.

Your State Of Mind

Your State Of Mind

If you think you are beaten, most chances are that you will be. Even if the odds are not in your favor, keep trying and never give up. We have an inner spirit that is much stronger than we ever thought possible, and we can persevere through almost anything.

You probably won’t if you think you dare not try new things, We learn through our experiences and disappointments. If you never take any risks in life, you do not grow. Life is a daily risk, but we keep up with our schedules and appointments. Life has a learning curve every day here on Earth.

tiger merry go round

You probably won’t if you think you will not get a good grade on a test. You already have a mindset that has doomed you to failure. If you study hard and apply yourself, you will surely excel in something that will take you far.

If you think you will lose a baseball game, most chances are that your team will indeed lose that game. You are not boosting your team’s spirits. You are bringing them down by how you act and the vibes you put out there.

Success begins with your state of mind. A positive attitude will always take you very far in life. People like to be around people with a positive and uplifting mood, as it makes them feel better. I remember a man in the hospital who had received bad news from his Doctor and was determined he was going to die even though the Doctor had treatments in mind for him. The Doctor said I could not save that one because he was determined to die no matter what I did for him.

20150824_033756

Always keep a positive mindset and remember things could be worse than they are. Be determined to defy the odds even though it might be challenging at the time. Remember not to let anything stand in your way of success; you have many powers that you can look for in your life to reach your highest peak. Your friends and God will support you to infinity and beyond.

Freedom

Freedom

A high price has been paid for freedom over the years. Many battles have been fought, and many lives have been lost for us to be free. Never take your space for granted. We live in a country where freedom abounds and surrounds us daily. We have a right to work for wages and can purchase goods for our needs and wants. We can dress in whatever attire we see fit to be dressed in.

20151010_131133

Freedom is a great privilege. We can purchase and own a house or land and reap the rewards of our labor. We are free to form labor unions and other social groups without interruption. Being free means I can travel to others countries and learn more about my family heritage and the mannerisms of people in different countries. No matter where we live, we all want the same things in life. We all want our children’s lives to be better than ours, and we want good health for all our friends and us.

Use your freedom to help others that are not free in life. Pray for the oppressed, poor, and downtrodden, and reach out to your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Give people a helping hand gleefully and ardently, and strive to make their day brighter and more enjoyable.

20150825_054109

We are free to assemble and share our opinions in public places. Many young people have spoken up against oppression over the years and sacrificed their lives in the name of freedom for all of us. Sometimes all it takes is one person to save a village, as the old saying goes.

I do not take my freedom for granted. My space has come at a very high cost, with the loss of many lives on the battlefield. God bless the USA. Let freedom ring today and into eternity.

Clay and Vessel

Pottery, Clay and Vessel

Isaiah   64: 8

But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we are all the work of thy hand.

I have made a lot of different pottery pieces in the past. I start with a formless ball of clay, forming it into a shape on the potter’s wheel. One sign of an experienced potter is a thin vase, cup, etc. A potter without a lot of experience will have thick pottery pieces until he masters the clay and successfully pulls it up into a thin shape. It takes a while to master the skill of pulling the clay into shape without it toppling over, and you start over again.

God has a lot of patience with us as he shapes us. We start as a ball of clay, and God leads us along to form the perfect shape for our lives. On the potter’s wheel, the potter makes functional vessels that he can use to drink out of, eat off of, display flowers in, and much more. Pottery is very useful and always serves a purpose. God forms us to do a particular purpose on earth.

We have many purposes: mother, father, caregiver, comforter, teacher, lawyer, farmer, librarian, minister, builder, doctor, and many more necessary professions that enrich and add to other people’s enjoyment on earth. Let God make you the vessel you are supposed to be on earth. You want to be a vessel that will enrich other people’s lives. Always be a good steward so people can see God’ss light shining through you and all you do. Do what you excel at doing, and always learn from your mistakes. No one is perfect but strives for the best you can be and spread God’s good works, and you will be an ideal vessel on earth.

In Honor Of My Loving Parents

In Honor Of My Loving Parents

One of the Ten Commandments: Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother

My parents were remarkable and outstanding. I have been very blessed to have the most wonderful and perfect parents in my life. They helped shape me into the person I am today and much more. My parents inspire me every day to succeed and move forward in life to achieve everything humanly possible while I am on earth. My parents were compassionate and understanding and considerate of my needs. Every day I am alive, I strive to make my parents proud.

When I was about eight years old, my Father made a seat for his tractor for me to sit on while he planted corn, etc. My Father always wanted to keep me safe and out of harm’s way. My Father taught me how to deal with contractors and business people. My Father told me to get several bids on a project to get a good deal without being taken advantage of. I followed my Father around as much as possible and learned how to make many different repairs on different items by watching him over the years. My Father was kind, compassionate, and always willing to help someone in need. I am posting a picture of my Father showing me my first cat Flossie. Flossie walked out to the field where my Father was to die. She wanted to be next to him when she passed on.

Flosssie

My Mother would read a book to me at night until I fell asleep. My Mother was kind, gentle, compassionate, and very caring. My Mother would pick me up from school when I was sick and take me home, and I would get better quickly with her loving care. When I was very ill as a child, my parents slept on the floor next to me in my hospital room until they knew I would finally get better.

My Mother was a librarian for over thirty years. She checked out many books from the library for me to read. My Mother read a lot, and now I love to read a lot. Knowledge is learned through books and from your parents, God, and friends.

I  was very blessed to have the perfect parents possible in my life. My parents had good Christian values. Some of their deals were to treat people like you would want to be treated and help people in need; if you cannot say anything good, then do not say anything at all, and the spoken word is like a sped arrow lost in the night. My Mother wrote down the following to me in an autograph book that I had people right down sayings in. My Mother wrote: As you glide down the river of life, I wish you a long and beautiful ride.

My Father and I cared for my Mother at home until the last three days of her life. My Mother died in our local hospital. I visited my Father daily in the Rest Home for three years and three months. My Father died in the Rest Home. God Bless my parents for enriching my life in many fantastic and extraordinary ways.

Illness & Direction

Illness & Direction

Hebrews 2: 10  11: 8

For it became him who are all things, and by whom all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

By faith, Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out into a place he should, after receiving an inheritance, followed, and he went out, not knowing whither he went.

When we have an illness or have to deal with pain and suffering daily, sometimes it is necessary to find a new direction in our lives. It can be scary to redefine yourself, but you will feel a stronger connection to God.

A woman on TV the other day said that her daughter turned an ugly illness into a beautiful thing. Her daughter started visiting young people in the hospital who had diseases, comforting and supporting them in their most excellent hour of need. One positive word can give a person the will to battle through almost anything in life.

My illness has made a solid connection to God in my life. I became a Lay Minister to help strengthen my visits with people in rest homes and spread God’s good works. My blogging group has encouraged me to be more vocal and outgoing in life. Our blogging group is incredible cheerleaders for each other through thick and thin.

red lighthouse

Do not let an illness encompass you. You live on your terms and do not let an illness define you. Use your condition to help others find new directions and positive things in their life. Every day is a gift from God, so use all of your days wisely and do God’s will in all ways that are possible for you to complete. Life has many ups and downs. Do not let the downs keep you down. Rise above them with God by your side.

Make time each day to let others know you cherish and love them. Spread God’s good works whenever and however you can. God be with you today and always through your many journeys in life.

A Rats Tail In My Hair A dream With A Strange Analogy

A Rats Tail In My Hair A Dream With A Strange Analogy

I dreamed about a rat’s tail in my hair one evening. I could always see its tail hanging down, and it was freaking me out. I asked my friends if they could see the rat’s tail in my hair, and they all said no. I figured they said that because they were afraid to remove the rat from my hair.

chicken merry go round

I dreamed about that rat’s tail hanging from my hair most of the night. Once I accepted having a rat in my hair, the rat left, never to be seen again.

Once we accept a situation that we cannot change, we no longer fear the situation. Some people are like a rat in your hair, such as bullies. If we let the bully bother us day after day, he has all the power, and we have none. Do not let someone intimidate you day after day. Seize the moment on your terms and conditions, and do not bow down to a bully.

Anyone who distresses or upsets you holds all the cards, not you. Be your cheerleader and take control of your life. A rat will get out of your hair when he can no longer pull your chain.

tiger merry go round

Do not let fear take moments of your life away because that dirty old rat will never get out of your hair. When you control your life, you can accomplish many great things you didn’t even think possible. Keep on target to set and achieve new goals every day. Life is a gift from God and not a given, so use your life to help spread God’s good works, make the World a better place, and never let the rats get the best of you.

Memorial Day And What It Means To Me

Memorial Day And What It Means To Me

Memorial Day is a day for us to remember our loved ones that have passed on. We are here today because of our ancestors and their outstanding accomplishments. They have braved great tragedies and triumphed over many adversities to come to a new country full of unknowns to make a great life for their family and future generations.

20150604_200323

We have our Founding Fathers, Surveyors, Lawyers, Tradesmen, Farmers, Veterans, and many more people to be remembered for making America a land of great opportunity and freedom for all.

What our ancestors have done throughout the years has helped us get to our position in life. We have learned a great deal from them throughout history. Some of our ancestors have discovered cures for severe diseases from which we would have died years ago. Our ancestors carried their old traditions to the new country, and we have built on them over the years. We still love ethnic foods from the old country and have kept many of their ideals and values in place.

20161214_161549

I have traveled to the countries that my ancestors came from. I have walked down the same streets that they walked down in the 1600s. I saw the farm that my Great Grandfather farmed and learned the history behind why he came to America. When we learn more about our ancestors, we also learn more about ourselves and why we have specific likes and dislikes. We are very similar to our ancestors and strive for many of the same things without even knowing it. People always told my Father he looked like his Grandfather. We have a lot of the same mannerisms as our ancestors.

20151027_142913

My family and I would go to the cemetery and put flowers on the grave sites. We would place flowers on my Great Grandparent’s serious sites and my Grandparents. We would meet my aunts and uncles at the cemetery. We would reflect on the beautiful memories, and moments our Grandparents gave us freely and with love and understanding over the years. As we place flowers on a friend’s grave,e, we reflect upon all the joy and good times we shared throughout the years.

Memorial Day reminds me of the extraordinary ancestors that had gone on before me and helped shape me into who I am today. I am glad for their sacrifices and triumphs; I would not be here today without them. Thank you, God, for all the wonderful people who have enriched the World with your good works. We greatly miss our relatives that have gone on before us, and one of our ways of honoring and remembering them is with Memorial Day.
