Maintaining Your Body

Our annual physical ensures our body is in peak operating order. Our Doctor may say we have to take blood pressure pills to maintain our blood pressure or that we should lose some weight to prevent people with diabetes down the road. We must exercise our body as a body at rest stays at rest and goes downhill quickly. We should be very social as it has been proven that people that socialize live much longer than those that do not. We should have our teeth cleaned twice a year to prevent tooth decay and having to wear dentures in our old age. We need our annual exams to prevent cancer or catch it early before it spreads and is not treatable. We should keep our minds as active as possible by reading, working on crossword puzzles, putting puzzles together, and having a hobby. I like to use a treadmill in the winter months with music playing in the background. In the warmer months, I weed whack, garden, mow my lawn, trim trees, and ride my e-bike. We maintain our pets’ bodies by feeding them top-quality food and annual Vet visits for their checkups and necessary shots.

Maintaining Your Soul

Maintaining your soul is very important. If you do not keep your soul, you do not maintain your body; without your soul, you have no body. God put breath in your body and gave you a mind to survive and function. If you lose your soul to the Devil, you have lost your connection to everlasting life. Have kind, caring, loving, joyful, peaceful, hopeful, and loyal thoughts. Do not go to bed angry at someone; be slow to anger. Put God above all others and strive to do God’s will on Earth. If you see your soul drifting in the wrong direction, ask God to help you get back on track again and stay on the right path, as that is the only path that leads to redemption and everlasting life. Glory be to God our heavenly Father.

Maintaining What You Own

If you do not maintain your home soon, you will not have one to live in. Maintaining a home takes a lot of time and energy. You may have to replace your windows, put on a new roof, install a new furnace put on new siding, have your home rewired, and much more. Maintaining a home is very expensive. Maintaining your vehicle involves oil changes, batteries, new tires, and sometimes something significant. Lawnmowers need oil changes, blades sharpened, and sometimes a complete overhaul. Outdoor buildings must be repainted, and rotten boards must be replaced. I stain my deck boards yearly with an oil stain since oil paints or stains last much longer. Water and other filters need to be replaced as they get dirty and cause damage to the device they are used on. Write a list of the top 10 things you want to fix at the beginning of the year and stick to the list so you do not have many repairs to complete all at once.

The Winding Road

Winding Roads

On mountain roads, there are a lot of very winding roads with lots of sharp bends and curves. I don’t ever want to look down when I am driving on a windy mountain road. When you go on the outside lane, and a semi-truck passes you, you are scared out of your mind, as there is no guide wire or anything to stop you from driving over the edge. Life is like a winding road. We could be doomed if we get too close to the edge of what we know we should not be doing. God does his best to teach us what is right and wrong through the Bible and his teachings. We must pray to God and ask him to forgive us when we do not know enough to get off the winding road that leads to destruction.

Extremely Windy Roads

Cancer takes you on highly windy roads. I know many people that have cancer. The worst part is not knowing if they will survive cancer. Cancer treatments make some people extremely ill. Most survivors I have talked to told me their faith in God pulled them through, and their faith had grown stronger. Confidence will help you survive the good and the bad times in life. Faith gives you hope for a better tomorrow. With God’s love and the love of others, you can overcome most of the windy roads in life.

Winding Roads On A Journey

I have driven on pleasant, winding roads off of the beaten path and discovered quaint small towns that were very interesting. I have gone to small Ma and Pa stores that sold quality older new items. I purchased a nice metal scoop shovel, furniture, a homemade wooden box, tools, appliances, and much more. I love the old wooden floors in the buildings and the architecture. The owners were fun to visit with, and they told me their store was a three-generation store.

Roads In Life

We will travel down many different kinds of roads in our lifetime. I always prefer to take the road less traveled as that is where you seem to find the most treasures. The treasures you see will be the people you visit with and some excellent tools or small items you need. I have found excellent family-owned restaurants that serve authentic Turkish and Italian meals. I went to an auction in a small town and purchased an excellent antique buffet and a refrigerator. I ate at a restaurant in that town that had all the different foods that would be served in various countries around the World. It was the best eating-out experience I have ever had in the USA. We may have a set journey in our life, then we make a complete turnaround and change careers. It takes some of us a while to realize what the actual trip in our life is supposed to be. God bless you and yours and let him be your guide and compass in life, and then all roads will lead home.

How Do You Relate To People?

Talk to them and really get to know them. Show a genuine interest in what they are doing. If they like cats, go to a cat show with them and do things they enjoy doing together. Be accepting of them just as they are. Be an attentive listener and genuinely care about their concerns, needs, and wants. Relate to people as you would like to have them relate with you. Be kind and patient with people. Remember you have to be a good and caring friend to have a caring friend.

Relationship With Your Spouse

A good relationship needs to have a lot of give and take. If your wife wants to go on a vacation and you do not compromise and go on at least one trip with her and you may be surprised by how much you actually enjoyed the trip. Never let any relationship be one-sided as someone will feel his or her feelings are being ignored. If your husband wants to go to a sporting event and you hate sports go with him anyway. You may like watching a baseball game with your husband as he talks about the best players and why they are on top of their A game. Learn to eat food that you may not like to appease your spouse and make them happy.

Relationships With Bussiness People

I want to establish a good relationship with my banker, lawyer, Doctor, accountant, repairmen, and more. You want people that you can trust and have total faith in to manage your business affairs. I never like it when my Doctor or lawyer retires as you have to build a brand new relationship which takes a lot of time to form trust and complete confidence in the person that took over. You must have complete confidence in anyone that knows all about your business and health. We want an investment banker to manage our money as he would his own. I trust all of my repairmen to treat me fairly and make top-quality repairs.

Relationships With Friends

Everyone wants a friend that they can rely on through thick and thin. Rainy day friends are there for you in difficult times when the rest of the World turns its back on you they are faithful to the end. Friends are like the flowers in the garden of life. When my friends are ill or sick I try to help them and be there for them and get them the items they need. When my friends are ill I feel ill as my friend’s concerns become my top concerns. Be a friend that is there for the long haul. Life is full of happy and not-so-happy days. Be the light that shines brightly to help lift up friends when they are sick, lonely, frightened and they need you the most.

Relationships With Business Owners

If a business offers you top-quality service thank them and be appreciative that they went the extra mile for you. Tell your friends that you were very pleased with their business. I buy at the same stores over and over again after I have learned to trust them and know that they will stand behind what they sell. Shop locally and support the privately owned small stores.

Your Relationship With God

Your relationship with God is your most important relationship of all. Treat God with the utmost respect, love, and kindness, and follow the Ten Commandments as it is not called the ten suggestions. Praise God for all of your many blessings. Praise God in song, and by what you do and say. God is my lighthouse that shines ever so brightly in my life. Praise be to God.

Customer Service Issues

I made an appointment for an oil change the other day, and it took them 3 hours to get my oil changed. I kept going to their main desk, asking when my car would be done, and they said nothing. The workers at the desk were playing computer games instead of supervising their workers. I called a service company that I used to go to, and they never returned any of my calls after three attempts. It is hard to find anyone to repair a broken appliance. If you find one, their labor charge is so high you might as well buy a new device. The repairman will generally bring out the wrong part and charge you to return to town to buy the correct position.

Customer Service And Warranty Issues

I purchased an extended warranty on a car for the engine and transmission. My car would not maintain the correct oil pressure, and I told them I needed a new motor, and they would not replace it. I never purchased another vehicle from them, nor have I ever purchased another extended warranty. I had a contract for a water heater, and it stopped working precisely one day after the warranty period, so I was out of luck.

Customer Service Nightmares

I once had a car that was not dependable whatsoever, and she always needed repairs. I kept spending and spending money on it, and then it was not that part but another part; I got tired of paying the mechanic as he could never get the issue fixed. A store blamed me for the fact that the item that I purchased from them did not work. They told me I had abused the thing, and I said I had not even touched the thing except to plug it in. They stuck me with an item that was never wired correctly right from the company.

Waiting For Customer Service

I waited for customer service for four hours via the telephone. I could not understand their words when I finally got someone on the phone. I told him I was very sorry and asked him to talk to his supervisor about my issue. I could understand her, but then she put me on hold for another person, and by the end of the day, I had not gained anything from my phone call. The next day I had to start the process over again until someone could talk me through the problem.

We Need To Get Old Fashioned Customer Services Back ASAP

Without customer service, your company will not grow, and people will lose faith in you and your business or service. Word of mouth spreads like wildfire on the windiest of days. Listen to people’s complaints and remember you may have a problem yourself one day that you will need help with. Put yourself in the other person’s predicament. Remember The Golden Rule: Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You. Stand behind what you sell, fix it, and remember that the customer is always right.

God Is There for Us 24/7

God is always there for us in our darkest of hours. God answers our prayers and cheers us on. God is like a lighthouse as he leads us home from harm. We should act like God with customer service.

Parting With Collections

When you grow older you realize that the things you used to collect are only things and they will not bring you happiness. I have found it a great joy to sell things that I used to collect and give the money to charities that will help people in need. Items have a hold on you and when you get rid of them you have a sense of freedom. Sometimes a person gets so wrapped up in collecting things that you miss out on what is truly important in life. Do not let your possessions own you or tell your story. Collections will not bring back a loved one or help you get back a particular moment in time. An older woman told me she never felt so free until the day she had to get rid of her possessions because she moved into an old-age apartment complex. I understood what she meant and I got rid of a lot of my things after I talked to her. I have sold all of my antiques and I do not miss a single one of them. Your story should be about how you helped others on earth and how you asked God to help you spread his good works to the masses.

Wisdom, Love, Kindness And More

With age comes wisdom. As we grow old we are wise to the ways of the world. We do not take people at face value. We observe how people act, talk, and relate to others before we trust them. We know if someone truly loves us or if they are just sweet talking us. We want to be around kind and caring people and those that are compassionate to our needs as we age as graciously as we can. True love is wanting the best for the person that we love. We return to love when we receive love. We will protect a person that we truly love at all costs. A Mother will sacrifice herself to save her child. In the army, the saying says no man is left behind. You protect your buddies in the army and you will lay down your life for them. Kindness should come naturally to a person but unfortunately, it does not come from all of us. If you treat people unkindly it will come back to haunt you someday as you may not be able to live with yourself depending on what you did. Compassion is sometimes very hard to find. Some people may think you are faking an illness just because they cannot see your disease just by looking at you. A person can be dying from some horrible disease and a rude person will say get out of your way or why don’t you move faster? If we could move faster we would naturally. Someday they will be the one that is old and frail and maybe no one will have compassion for them. Show love, kindness, compassion, and consideration for people every day and walk with God by your side and let him lead you to do the best that you can to help others so they will know God loves them.

Prayers For Strength

When We Are Weak He Is Strong

When we pray to God for the strength he makes us strong again. God helps those that are weak from sickness and adversity in their lives. God always knows what we need to help us with the problems that we have in life. If one door closes in our lives he will open another door that will rejuvenate us in ways that we never dreamed were possible. He may lead us to a more fulfilling life that guides us on a path that will be much more beneficial for us and others. Sickness saddens us and shuts us down without healing prayers sent by God and others that pray for complete healing for us. With God and good, kind, caring, and compassionate people praying for us to jump over the hurdles that life brings our way we will overpower and conquer what is happening to us and learn how to carry on and be a complete person that is not empowered by sickness or fear of the unknown. We have to embrace what comes our way and never let it empower us for we are always in control with God as our guide in life’s storms. Out of a storm can come a beautiful rainbow that is full of light and hope.

Do Not Have A Pity Party

A lot of people think what did I do to get this illness or disease? My answer to you is absolutely nothing. All of us will be sick from time to time. It is natural that we will grow old someday and die or we may die quite young. People say why I and I say why not me. Illness will knock on your door when you least expect it. You may have had smooth sailing for many years and now your Doctor says you have cancer or another disease that has no cure. Pray to God to help you and for you to help others. Let people see how you are living with your diagnosis and help others cope with an illness like yours. An illness can be the best thing that ever happened to you as you can see your life in a whole new light. Maybe you used to be very shy and now you are very talkative which is a good thing. Sometimes we need a lightning bolt to come out of the sky and wake us up on what we have been missing out on in life. You may have the perfect job now as it is the one that fulfills you, God, and those that see your enthusiasm and zest for life.

Live For What You Can Do For Others And What You Can Do For God

Being cured of a horrible illness gives you a second chance at living your life as it was meant to be lived. Lift up everyone you meet in life and help make their life better and enrich them with the knowledge that you have learned in your life. Never take a wonderful gift that you have been given and let it die when you die. If you know how to fix something or teach someone then help others by passing your knowledge to the next generation and that is one way that you can live on forever. God died for our sins so that we may live forever with God in heaven.

What Makes Us Unique

We are unique individuals with different likes and dislikes. We like different kinds of foods and drinks. All of us excel in certain areas of our lives. Some of us help people with their faith if it has been shaken by some kind of event in their life that was not good. If you do not have faith, you do not have anything. Faith keeps us hopeful, joyful, kind, positive and in a good state of mind. Faith lets us know that tomorrow will be better than yesterday was especially if we had a hectic and hard day. All of us have a favorite color of clothes or cars. Thank goodness we have unique job qualities as some of us can be an engineer, doctor, farmer, teacher, preacher and many more jobs that make the world run efficiently and safely. God has given us a unique set of fingerprints that can only be ours and ours alone. Fingerprints have solved a lot of serious crimes as they only point to the true suspect.

Kind And Very Unkind People

Some people will go out of their way to help someone in need and others will just walk on by or ignore them completely. I have a friend that gave her left over food from a restaurant to a homeless man and he was very thankful indeed. He told her all of the other people had ignored his request for some food. Very unkind people will try to rip you off by overcharging you for repair services that they should have fixed the first time that they worked on your car or home. Some people charge for their lunch break, or they really pad their bill to the hilt. A good person cares for others as he would care for himself. Help someone who needs a hand and do not just walk by and remember the next guy that may need help maybe you. I got my truck stuck in the ditch one winter and every one of my neighbors offered to help me out and I thanked each one of them and I told them I had a tow truck on the way. Some people get mad and angry at homeless people. The homeless did not ask to get shot at in combat or their mental illness or being beaten or abused at home. You have no idea of a person’s internal pain or suffering, so never think that they asked to be homeless just lend them a helping and loving hand.

God Has Made Us Unique

God knows what we will do with our lives while we are still in our mother’s womb. God has a mission for each one of us to accomplish and complete while we are on earth. We are God’s stewards, and we should represent ourselves in that manner when we are around people. God is the potter, and we are the clay that God shapes and forms to make us truly unique individuals. Be unique, kind, faithful, loving, joyful, helpful, hopeful and be God’s steward and help spread God’s good works to the masses.

Caring For People

Treat People With Empathy And Compassion

Caregivers must always remember that they to will have a caregiver someday in their lifetime. Treat people as you would want to be treated if you were sick. Attend to people’s needs in a timely manner and do not let them suffer. If someone is hungry and they are sick bring them the kinds of foods they like to eat or food that agrees with them. Be patient with sick people for it will take them much longer to complete task then it would if they were healthy. If they need a pain pill give it to them as soon as you possibly can. Try to make people comfortable when they are laying in bed. If they need extra blankets bring them to them or fluff up their pillow, If they have bladder issues get them to the bathroom immediately or their problem will get worse and worse and they may die from a serious bladder infection. People that are well cared for heal much faster as they know they are being cared for.

You Can Never Be Too Caring

By how you care for people says a lot about you as a person in general. If you have an I don’t care attitude about people you will carry that into all of your interactions with other people. Caring is a way of showing someone that you love them and you care about how they are treated and what happens to them. If I have a dear one who is sick or in pain I care about them deeply and I try to brighten up their days by talking to them and bringing things to them to let them know that I love and care for them.

God Cares For For Us Greatly

He gave his only begotten son to die for us on the cross for our sins so that we will be forgiven for our sins if we are truly remorseful. God tries to lead us on the right path in life if we just look for it. There is no one that cares and loves us more than God does. Jesus healed the sick and the lame. God has given us the Bible and the Ten Commandments as an example of how we are supposed to live our lives.

Caring For Gods Creatures

If you have a child that miss treats an animal they will grow up to do the same with humans. If your child delights in hurting your pets get him help before he grows up to be a killer or tortures people. Treat your pets as if they were human. Animals feel pain and suffer just as we do. If you have a sick pet bring them to your Vet ASAP. Give your pets fresh water daily and make sure they have plenty of food to eat. Make sure your pets are in a warm draft free area. Never leave a pet unattended in a car as they can die quickly from the got sun beating through the car windows. God bless all creatures great and small. Care for people and all of Gods creatures with love, empathy, compassion and kindness.

Be Kind

Kindness really does matter. A person will not heal well if their caregivers are not kind to them. A person that is sick will flourish when there needs are attended to. A person that is left on their own will eventually die. All of us need to feel that we are cared for with kindness and love. All of us need our faith in God to help us get through truly difficult times in our lives. Without faith you have nothing that will help pull you through your illness. Gods kind and healing hands will comfort and protect you in your most trying moment. When you pray for someone to get well you are being kind and caring. The more people that pray your recovery the better off you will be. Never be unkind to a sick person as they did not ask to be sick. All of us want to remain active and involved in life but once in awhile a road block will show up in our lives. If someone is unkind to you they care for themselves more than you and they are not a true friend. Friends stick together through sickness and in health and encourage each other to get better when times are hard.

Encouragement

You don’t need someone in your life that tells you you won’t be able to do something. You need someone to tell you to keep trying until you succeed at what you set out to do. We need encouragement when we run a race such as fans calling our name out in the bleachers saying keep up your good pace and we are routing for you. If your family tells you I am sure you will do good on the test since you studied a lot that gives you the extra push to A’s that test. When you are a child and people tell you you are not good at something that will stick in your mind your entire life. Encourage kids to be and do their best as we are their examples to follow into adulthood. If you think you are beaten you truly are, if you think you will succeed most likely you will after all its all in a person’s state of mind. Encourage your friends and family to be the best that they can possibly be. Never put someone down as there is enough negativity in the World as it is without you having to add to it.

God Is Kind And He Loves Us

God encourages us everyday to be our best and do our best. All we have to do is listen to subtle little hints that come from God. If we see someone struggling to carry their groceries that is are cue to help lighten their load. If someone has their hands full open the door for them. God loves us and he will surround us with the right people at the right time to help us with are situation at hand. Kindness truly does matter. Once a word leaves your mouth its is like a spent arrow lost in the night so let kind words flow from your mouth. Be kind, loving and encourage people to be the best person that they can possibly be and shout for joy at all of their successes in life. Do not be jealous of people just be truly happy for them.

Darkness In Our Lives

What causes darkness in our lives’? A lack of faith can cause darkness in our lives. The death of loved ones can cause our days to be full of darkness. Depression, loneliness and anxiety can cause us to have very dark days. Stormy days are dark and very scary as the tornado siren may sound. On dark days we have to put light in our day. We can put light in our day by lifting people up. It makes them feel good about their day and it also lifts us up to help someone else feel much better about their day. If you continue to live in darkness, it will devour you and you will succumb to its embrace. The devil loves it when you live in darkness, and you forget to look for the light of God in your life. God will always embrace us and lift us up even on the darkest and scariest of days in our lives all we have to do is have faith that Gods light will shine brightly and take over the darkness with light for everyone to see and behold in their life.

A New Day On The Horizon

I love to see the sunrise in the early morning hours as we know this the day that the Lord hath made let us rejoice and be glad in it. Every day is a new day with no mistakes in it and a day that you can correct the mistakes that you can. If you find something try to return it to the rightful owner than just thinking finders’ keepers. I start out the day feeding my cats, birds, and writing and reading devotions. I call my friends to see how they are today and run errands and do housework and much more. I love to walk around the farm and pick up sticks and branches that have fallen. I enjoy watching the birds and other animals eat the seeds in the bird feeders. I love nature and all of the beauty it beholds, and I thank God for the variety of animals that he made for us to look at and enjoy. I love the smell of a brisk new morning or the smell of blossoms or flowers. I was riding my bike one morning and a big blue heron came flying out of the creek. Blue Herons remind me of a majestic prehistoric bird with their wingspan. One morning I saw 28 deer run across the road on Kentucky Ave. There were 27 females and one buck. Every new day has a bit of magic in it as we never know what we might see or discover or learn today.

God Is Your Beacon In The Night

God is like a lighthouse he will lead you back to shore safely on the darkest and stormiest nights of your life. If you are sad and crying turn your thoughts and sorrows, aches, pains and problems over to God for he has a plan already worked out for you that will help you see his glory in your life and help other people see Gods Glory in their lives.
