Catnip Toys for Cats from Swagcompany.com

Catnip Toys for Cats from swagcompany.com

20150213_131609I love these wonderful catnip toys that can be purchased from LoopiesToys.com. My cat Garfunkel was excited when he saw these two wonderful catnip toys. He played with the green-colored snail for a long time. He would toss it up in the air and then run after it. Garfunkel started hugging his new catnip toy.

All the catnip toys from swagcompany.com are of fine quality material and artistry. Their catnip toys will stand up to whatever your cat may do to them while they are playing with them.

Garfunkel started playing with the red-colored toy called DYNA – NIP catnip toy. He tossed it up in the air. He then licked away at his catnip toy. He was as happy as could be with this catnip toy. Later, he held the toy close to his chest and fell asleep, still holding on to his toy.

My cat Conrad played with the green snail for at least one hour. He would throw the green snail catnip toy on the couch. Conrad would then jump on and off the couch after the green snail catnip toy from swagcompany.com. He liked the toy so much that he hid it under the sofa for enjoyment. He knew my other cats would not find it under the couch where he had his cat naps.

Conrad spotted the red DYNA – NIP catnip toy later in the day. He threw it up in the air and caught it many times.

My cat Kohl is getting older, but he even enjoyed playacting with these fine catnip toys from swagcompany.com.

If you want your cat to have many hours of fun and enjoyment, buy one of these fine-quality catnip toys from swagcompany.com. Your cat will love you for purchasing some of these toys for him.

Signs of a Sick Cat

Signs of a Sick Cat

A healthy cat should have bright and shiny fur. They should have bright clear eyes. The ears should be clean and free of ear mites. A healthy cat will want to play and be outgoing. A healthy cat will eat the food you generally put out for him. Their tail should be straight up or slightly down.

If you notice a sudden change in your cat’s behavior,r he may be sick. A cat that quits using his litter box could have a bladder problem or diarrhea. A cat that starts sneezing or coughing could have something more severe or distemper. If your cat displays an odd behavior you have never noticed, watch him, as he may be ill.

The sick cats that I have had displayed their symptoms of sickness slowly. Kittens have started with a sneeze that has turned into a distemper. If your cat starts sleeping most of the day away in an area away from you, it could be a sign of illness. Sleeping in the bathtub could mean he has a bladder problem or kidney failure. They sleep in your tub to cool down from a fever. If your cat seems to be straining or howling in pain at the litter box and is a male, he may have a blockage as far as being able to pass his urine. Take him to your vet ASAP. A condition such as this can be life-threatening quickly. When cleaning your cat’s litter box, if you notice blood in their bowel movement, have your vet give him a blood test to determine the cause. If you see worms in the litter box, have your cat dewormed. Worms will cause weight loss and a lack of luster to their fur.

I discovered one of my cats had terrible teeth by scratching under her chin. She winced in pain. My vet pulled the bad teeth, and she was fine.

If your cat vomits for three days, take him to your vet ASAP. He could have a severe condition. He could have a blockage in his intestines.

If your cat fails to clean himself or the tail hangs down, he is not feeling well. Another sign of bad health is runny or dirty eyes.

Make sure your cat has his shots up to date. Take your cat in for his annual physical, as this will prevent many health problems. I hope you and your cat stay healthy.

Kohne Dog Kollars

Kohne Dog Kollars from kohnekollars.com

Most of us that have cats also love dogs. I am writing about a stylish dog collar that I got from kohnekollars.com.

I love how my friend’s dog looks wearing this collar. He looks very classy and stylish with his collar on. The collar is well made and very easy to put on and take off of your dog.

My friend’s dog’s name is Brutus. Brutus was relaxed and happy wearing his stylish dog collar. He laid down on his couch and modeled his kollar for us. He was pleased and was wagging his tail with delight.

They have many different colors and sizes of dollars available for your dog. You can even order a Kollar with your school’s colors on it. There are several styles to choose from.

My friend will put this collar on Brutus when she takes him for a walk around the block. The collar would be perfect when you take your dog to the park. The collar I got is called Plaid Expectations. My friend is having pictures made of Brutus wearing his stylish collar to mail to her friends and relatives.

The collar is perfect for pictures at family gatherings where you want your dog to stand out and look extra stylish and classy. It is ideal for a dog’s birthday party, Christmas, and any event where you want your dog to look extra special.

I would highly recommend buying one of these dog collars for your dog. Every dog needs a good design! Your dog will be the envy of the neighborhood when he is wearing his collar from kohnekollars.com.

You can see Brutus modeling the Plaid Expectations dog collar in the picture. He loved having this comfortable collar on. Your dog will be the most stylish in his neighborhood when wearing a collar from kohnekollars.com.

Hiding Places

Hiding Places

Cats will hide in the most unusual places.

My grandmother had a part Siamese and Russian Blue cat. Her name was Tammy. Tammy loved to open a closet door. Once in the closet, she would get the lid off a shoe box. She would ideally jump in the shoe box and get the top back on. My poor grandmother was frantic, searching high and low for her cat. My grandmother called the neighbor. She looked and looked and finally, by some luck, found Tammy in the shoe box—next time, grandma knew where to look. Tammy also would hide under her neighbor’s porch now and then.

I had a pure-breed Siamese cat. I got her when she was eight years old. Her name was Sugar. When I first got Sugar, I could not find her. I would look all over the house to no avail. After a month, I finally found her secret spot. She managed to get in the Christmas decoration box. One day I was walking by the box, and out popped Sugars head; the jig was up. Sugar found a new spot. My father was reaching into the linen closet for a bath towel. My father was shocked to have touched something with fur on it. Sugar never hid in the linen closet after that.

I got another cat that was part Siamese. Her name is Cali. I was looking for Cali. I was not looking high enough. I found Cali looking down at me atop the kitchen cupboard. She looked at me like it took you long enough to see me,

Cats love to hide from us now and then. Of course, hiding is a necessary hunting and survival skill in the wild. I hope you will find your cat quickly.

Whats Upsetting My Cat ?

Whats Upsetting My Cat ?

Cats like consistency. They do not like changes whatsoever.

I will give you a list of things that may upset your cat:

  • new cat in the house
  • a new piece of furniture
  • a different person in your house
  • new appliance
  • different cat litter
  • different cat food
  • new bedspread
  • you’re leaving on a vacation

Your cat might stop using his litter box because he dislikes the new kitten you bought at home. He may start scratching up your furniture.

When I have gone on vacation, my cats have gotten into mischief. They have knocked things down and scattered any paperwork that may be laid out. My cats vomit when I am gone for a long time. They get a nervous stomach. Your cat may have loose stools while you are gone. Leave some clothes out or a blanket that has your scent on it. Leaving these out may calm your cat.

I have had cats quit using their litter box for a while because a new couch was bought into the house. Put the pillows from your old sofa on it for a time. The old pillows will have that familiar scent on them.

When you change cat food, always have the old food available until you are sure they are enjoying the new food.

Have another litter box with your old brand when changing to a different cat litter. This will prevent accidents. I had a new brand of cat litter that the cats would not even go near the litter box with the latest waste in it.

When you buy anything new, introduce your cat slowly and place something with a familiar scent on it.

A new kitten should be placed in a cage or bathroom where they can smell each other through the door. Leave the new kitten there for at least a week, then let him loose. They should all get along fine now.

Make all changes gradually if you can.

Introducing a New Cat Into Your Home

Introducing a New Cat Into Your Home

I put the new cat in quarantine for a week or more. I watch and observe the cat for sickness. I take the cat to my vet for distemper, rabies, and feline leukemia shots and deworming. The new cat is placed in my bathroom or a large cage with water, food, and cat litter. The other cats can sniff at the newcomer through the door. They will slowly get used to each other’s scent and meow by smelling or hearing each other through the gate. I let the new cat out only when I am home; so I can break up any disagreements.

Conrad

I give all of my cats treats at this time. Each cat gets the same amount of treats. Cats know if they are being treated equally very quickly.

When I am satisfied that everyone is getting along fine, I free the newcomer. I have not experienced any problems using this method.

Spend much time with your new cat away from your other cats. Pat your new cat on the head and talk gently to him, as this will reassure him that he will not be harmed. Have toys available for him to play with, as this will also calm him.

20150308_150227

Please bring all of your cats into a room, patting them all equally on the head for an equal amount of time. Play radio with soft music or have a clock ticking softly in the background—cats like gentle, calming sounds.

Have a nice warm cat bed available for the new cat. The new mattress can be a hideaway spot for him to get away from your other cats if he gets nervous now and then.

image

Have a variety of toys available for everyone to interact together with. They can take turns batting a mouse around in a circle cat toy.

All of your cats should be content with each other’s company now.

Wishes Cat Treats from Chewy.Com

Wishes Cat Treats from Chewy.Com

I  strive to feed my cats food without a lot of by-products or fillers in it.

I discovered Wishes pure Icelandic haddock fillets for cats and dogs. Wishes have only one ingredient, dehydrated haddock. Honest Kitchen, Inc., a USA-based Co, makes wishes. I purchased Wishes from Chewy.Com.

If you have a cat sensitive to foods with many fillers or additives, Wishes is perfect with only one ingredient dehydrated haddock. The haddock is caught in cold, pristine waters off the coast of Iceland and packaged in the USA. It is human-grade food.

I first gave Wishes to two of my male cats. They loved the treat and fought over it for more. They could not get enough of this healthy treat.

My calico cat Cali also thought this was a delicious treat. My cats love the smell of the haddock. The minute I open the cupboard door where I store Wishes, my cat Lorenzo stands on his hind legs. I break off several pieces of Wishes, and he devours the treat. My cat Russ is always ready for more Wishes and treats. My cat Peter is timid and would only eat Wishes if I did not watch him.

I went to the cupboard and looked for the Wishes treats. I could not find them anywhere. I finally looked at the carpet in the Living Room. I saw the Wishes treat bag on the mat empty. I am sure Lorenzo had chewed a hole in the bag and eaten most of the treats. When I gave them their dry cat food, he was not hungry.

I would highly recommend  Wishes cat and dog treats. It is hard to find a genuinely healthy cat treat. I love the fact it only has dehydrated haddock in it. I love products that are packaged in the USA.

Should I Declaw My Cat?

Should I Declaw My Cat?

Declawing your cat will save the life of your furniture.

I would only declaw a young cat. An older cat is used to a life of having its claws. The cat has climbed up and down many trees. If your cat is older, this would be a terrible shock to him to be without his claws suddenly. I heard of a case where a lady took her cat, which was four years old, to her vet to be declawed, and her cat bled to death.

A cat’s instinct is to claw at things. Your cat needs sharp claws to survive out in the wild. Cats’ claws are their hunting tools. Their claws help to catch and hold their prey. My farm cats have sharpened their claws on barn doors, pieces of wood, etc.

Your house cat can destroy your window sills with his claws. He can take off small sections of your carpet with his feet. He may climb your drapes and also shred them to pieces. Your clothes can be snagged by his claws catching on the material. The tops of your wooden furniture can get horrible scratch marks from your cat jumping up and down.

I had an older Siamese cat that was very good about not scratching things. She liked scratching the carpet, but it did not cause much damage. I also had a red tabby male cat that did not strike at anything.

If you do declaw your indoor cat, do not let him outside. Your cat will be utterly defenseless to a dog attack or other wild animal that may harm him.

All of my indoor cats are declawed. I had them declawed between six months and ten months of age. They did fine at my vet and got along fine in my house.

I have used a scratching post for some of my older cats. They have used it to some degree. They were hard on the carpet and the wooden floors. A scratching post with some catnip will help your cat get used to it.

Deciding to declaw or not depends on you and how you want your house to look and your cat’s age. Have a complete vet check for your cat if you decide to declaw him.

Keeping Your Carpets Clean With Natures Miracle From Chewy.Com

Keeping Your Carpets Clean With Natures Miracle from Chewy.Com

I use Natures Miracle to clean my carpets. The formula has natural enzymes. I wouldn’t say I like cleaners with harsh chemicals. Sometimes your cat makes a mess, and you don’t see it for a while. Your cat may vomit back of your couch. Nature’s Miracle is a stain and odor remover. I have had excellent luck with this product. I purchase Natures Miracle at Chewy.Com. I clean the spot by wiping up as much as possible with paper towels. I then put the cleaner on the site for a few minutes and let it soak in. First, always check the area for colorfastness. I use a white cloth and blot the stain out. I use the product at full strength.

I have also put Nature’s Miracle in my carpet shampooer to freshen up my house. I have used Nature’s Miracle on my cloth furniture. First, test the area to be cleaned for colorfastness. It has permanently removed the stain and left my furniture odor free. Once, I scrubbed an area with Nature’s Miracle, and my cats never had an accident there again. The product is truly a Miracle cleaner. I have another house I keep cats in, and sometimes a stain will set for several days. I use Nature’s Miracle, and the colors are gone quickly.

I like the natural citrus scent. I wouldn’t say I like cleaners that smell toxic or overpowering. My carpet and furniture smell extra good after using Nature’s Miracle.

If your cat has an accident on your bedding, use this product. Blot the area with paper towels. Remove your bedding. Put Natures Miracle on the stain and let it soak in. Put your bedding in your washing machine; it will be as -colorful and fresh as new.

For extra tough stains, use a brush to work in the formula. I like to use a brush on different thick carpets and fabrics. I then blot the area clean with a white cloth.

I have used Nature’s Miracle Stain and odor remover on clothing. Your clothes will smell like new again.

I highly recommend Nature’s Miracle. I have used it many times and have always received exceptional results. Keep your pets away from the area until the area is dry. You and your cats will be better off using Nature’s Miracle stain and odor remover.

Cat Emergency

Cat Emergency

What to do if your cat is injured.

Your cat depends on you in an emergency. First, you should figure out exactly where your cat is hurt. Remember, minutes count in an emergency; you’ll want a first aid kit.

What you will need in your first aid kit:

  • Gauze
  • Gauze pads
  • scissors
  • Ice Pack
  • Hot water bottle
  • Old blanket
  • Towels
  • Needle nose pliers
  • Eye dropper
  • Strips of clean cloth
  • Safety pins
  • Pepto Bismol
  • hydrogen peroxide
  • Wound powder
  • Boric acid eyewash
  • Razor blade

Approach an injured cat with extreme caution. Talk gently to the cat. If the cat’s ears are back, and it is growling, do not pick him up. I put a fish net over my injured cat, put him in a cage, and took him to the vet.

One of my cats was bitten by a raccoon. She was bitten on the bottom of her foot. I cleaned the area with three percent hydrogen peroxide. Her foot kept swelling over several days. I took her to the vet; he gave her antibiotics. She recovered quickly.

Cover the damage with a clean cloth if your cat has a wound or excessive bleeding. Keep pressure on the damage until the bleeding has stopped. Take your cat to the vet ASAP to ensure he will be alright.

You should do the following if your cat chews on a poisonous house plant; if he has not vomited, induce vomiting by giving him a unique solution you can buy from your vet until he vomits. Hold the cat’s mouth shut and slant its head up. Place a dose syringe at the corner of your cat’s mouth. Only give a little at a time, allowing him time to swallow. Rub the throat gently to stimulate swallowing. If a lack of breathing or convulsions occurs, take him to the vet ASAP. Have the solution on hand ahead of time if you have house plants that could be poisonous.

One of my cats chewed on a poinsettia plant once. He could not talk for a whole week. He did make a full recovery, luckily. I do not keep any houseplants in my house anymore for the sake of my cats.
