Share Your Good Fortune With Others

If you excel at something, teach your knowledge in that area to others. Never hide your hidden talents. Teach what you know to others and help them excel. I once knew an older man who did not want to teach any of his abilities to others. He said he wished to die keeping his knowledge in that area to himself. I thought to myself, what a waste. If all of us felt like that, no one would learn anything. Books would have never been written as no one would have known how to write a book. If you have extra vegetables in your garden, share them with others that do not have vegetables to eat. Never leave food just lying on the ground rotting away when it could have fed many people. If you are blessed with monetary wealth, share it with those who need the bare essentials. Give your time to people and help them free of charge for one day of cleaning or shopping. Take time to visit with people, as we all like to talk with others. Please send a card or flowers to someone to help brighten their day.

If You Have Too Many Of Anything, Share It With Someone

If you have furniture you are not using, give it to a charity to sell. Sell your items at an auction and donate that money to your church. Donate extra clean coats, hats, mittens, tools, furniture, and more to worthy causes that help people regain their feet. Order a large pizza, bring it to a friend’s house, and share it with them. Buy some coffee or candy and share it with someone. Donate bedding, beds, cleaning supplies, and much more to a homeless shelter. We all have something we could part with that would help others, as no item is too small or too large.

Help People With Snow Or Lawn Needs And More

As we age, we need help removing snow and mowing our yards in the spring. We may need windows caulked or someone to help us with a leaky faucet. We might need someone to get something down from a high shelf. Many people cannot afford to pay $35.00 an hour for these services when they only make $5.00 an hour.

Stay Overnight With Someone That Just Got Out Of The Hospital

If you just had surgery and are not feeling well, you need someone to stay overnight with you. A good friend or family member should be able to stay overnight with you until you feel more stable from your surgery or illness. One should never charge for this; it should be a caring act of kindness from your heart. Share your walker or anything that they might be able to use with their recovery. Share a nice meal that you cooked with them. God loves people who share their bounty with others and do not hoard things themselves.

Appearances Can Be Deceiving

There once was a very wealthy man dressed in rags every time he went out. He wanted to look that way to see if anyone would give him a helping hand. Some people were outright mean and told him to go and get a bath and that he was disgusting. He had no heirs to give his money to, so he wanted to leave his money to the person who helped him the most. He started giving the young man some money now and then to help him. Most of the time, the young man refused, but he was poor. He told the older man that he would save the money he gave him to go to college. One day, the young man enrolled in college to become a lawyer. The older gentleman giving him the money was a lawyer himself. The older gentleman and young man were friends for many years. The lawyer left all his money to the young man who had become a lawyer. The old gentleman found the perfect person to give his entire estate to. The young lawyer would sponsor a young person every year and make their college dreams come true with a scholarship that is stated to be used for college tuition only.

Never Judge A Book By Its Cover

You have to read and delve into the book to find out what each page means in the book. A person is the same way. You have to look into the entire makeup of the person to know what they are all about. A person can have a beautiful face, but their heart is dark and full of nasty thoughts and deeds. If a person seems a little standoffish, maybe it is a reaction to how they were treated at some point. How you were treated as a child will remain part of you your entire life. If you were bullied, you would hate bullies, or you may become one yourself.

Make Or Break Appearance

A car may look grand on the outside, but it may have nothing to offer under the bonnet. The motor may be bad, the tranny might not work right. A house that has terrible curve appeal will not sell quickly. A home should be freshly painted and well maintained before you put it on the market to sell it. With some things, the appearance can make or break a sale. If a car looks like it is on its last peg, you will not give it a second look. If you apply for a job and are not prepared, you most likely will not be hired. If you went out on a date without shaving, brushing your hair, or looking your best, you would most likely be rejected by the person the next time. If you do not study or apply yourself in school or college, it will stay with you for the rest of your life. Start anything by being prepared and ready for the unexpected in life, as life has many curveballs.

Dash Around

We Tend To Dash Around

We live in a hustle and bustle world where people dash around. We have many things on our minds and try to accomplish them in one day. We run from store to store, trying to find that perfect gift for someone. We may spend hours shopping online for that black Friday special. We have too many obligations and try to juggle everything as best as possible, which tends to catch up with us eventually. After all, Rome was not built in one day.

Dashing Around With Family

Family members tire of dashing around, and young ones may start crying. Parents get mad and cranky after a shopping trip, especially if no one seems to get what they were after. The women will want to shop around for clothes, and the men will want to go to the hardware store for a tool that is finally on sale that they have wanted to add to their tool collection for years. Kids want to go to a toy store, and the older family members want to sit down and relax after a full day of dashing from store to store.

Too Many Things On Your To-Do List

Holiday cooking and baking. Make some of your items ahead of time, such as cookies and other things that you could freeze and unthaw later on. Decorating the tree, inviting guests and family over for holiday gatherings, sending out Christmas cards, wrapping up or mailing gifts, and so much more can wear you out quickly. Make realistic plans for holiday gatherings. Buy plenty of appetizers, have family games on hand, and watch holiday parades and sports on TV. Put those cell phones out of sight and visit. Don’t be rude and text back and forth at any family gatherings. Visit with family members around the Christmas table and Thank God for your many blessings.

Dashing Back And Forth With School Activities

Attend your children’s plays, sporting events, speeches, and more. Your children will be grateful that you attended all of their events. Always make time for your kids. Kids grow up quickly, and they will remember that you cheered them on at all their achievements during their school years.

Always Make Time For God In Your Life

Do not dah around on Sunday. Sunday is the Lord’s day, so give your entire day to the Lord, and thank him for blessing you on each day of your life journey. Remember, Christ is the reason for the Christmas season. Christmas is not about gifts. Christmas is about the Lord Jesus’ birth in a lowly manger with no crib for a bed. Without Christ, you would not be forgiven for your sins. Your life would be pointless without Jesus in it. Don’t dash around after something that you may lose track of what Christmas means and what it stands for. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your many blessings in my life.

Buy At The Same Store And Deal With The Owner

After a store has established that you are a good customer, they may offer you a 10% discount on all your purchases, which adds to significant savings over time. If you buy out all of their stock on floor tile or something else, they will most likely give you a considerable percentage off. I used to buy a whole roll of carpet when I had a few rental properties, and I ended up using most of the roll, which was a significant saving. I went to an appliance store and purchased three refrigerators once, saving $100.00. The money you save can be used on vacation, to give to a charity of your choice, for car repairs, and more.

Buying Vehicles

I go to several car dealers and shop around, so I know what the car is worth that I am considering buying. If they do not want to match or beat the price it is worth, I go on to a different dealer. I had one dealer asking $3000.00 more than any other dealer. I asked the owner was asking the women to pay more than the men. He told a man one price for the same car she was looking at and told her a much higher price while I was waiting for my oil change. He had enough nerve to tell me he made all his money on women who purchased cars. I told him it was the last time I would ever return to his place of business.

Buying A Home

Have the home inspected at the owner’s expense. Have them throw in the appliances on the purchase or all of the contents in the home, as you can resale them and use that money to repair the home. Never pay the asking price for a house, as there is always a little wiggle room. Have them take that amount off their asking price if something significant needs fixing. If the carpet is ruined, ask them to put a new carpet in the home, and you pick out the color that you want.

Online Shopping

I needed a new furnace recently, and I decided to buy one for my rental home simultaneously, saving about $300.00. Amazon has a lot of good sales. I purchased a new water heater from a plumbing Co. online and saved money. If you have a particular clothing brand that you know runs true to size, buy it online and save time and gas money. After Christmas, I got a new Roomba on eBay and kept over half its original asking price. I also got a new smartwatch after Christmas at a significant discount. Buy items with a warranty, so you can still come out on top if you buy a lemon. I have been thrilled with my online purchases. I hope your buying experiences will save you money that will help you or others.

Be Prepared For Anything That Comes Your Way In Life

If you are unprepared for when your electricity goes out, you may suffer in the cold for days. I have backup generators and a backup ventless propane furnace, so my plumbing will not freeze. Don’t think disaster will ever knock at your door, for it eventually knocks on everyone’s door. Buy life insurance for all of us are going to die someday. Do not saddle your children with paying off your funeral bill eventually. I like to keep my shots and checkups up to date as it may help prevent a disease that may kill me without intervention: property and household insurance. A tornado or fire could destroy your whole home and the contents in your home. Insurance will help you get back on your feet much quicker without a horrible debt on your shoulders. Health issues will come our way the older we get. We must prepare for someone to help us if we get hospitalized or cannot conduct our business anymore. Meet with your Lawyer and get something drawn up way ahead of time because your health can change in a heartbeat. Get anti-virus software on your computer and other electronics connected to your internet. Many scammers are out there waiting to take advantage of anyone they can. Don’t be a person that gets scammed. Watch and monitor all your activity on your own and with anti-virus software that will back you up and protect your hard-earned money from being taken by a scammer who has never worked at an honest job in their lifetime. You will have cheerleaders, and you will also have people who will be delighted when you stumble and fall. Avoid people who put you down, for they are not your friends. Friends lift you on eagle wings so you can soar to new heights.

Be Prepared For When God Comes On Judgement Day

Don’t be drunk or out on the town acting silly and out of your mind when God comes on Judgement Day. None of us know the day or the time that God will come on Judgement Day. Live your life like every day is going to be Judgement Day. Be alert, and do not let anyone lead you astray from the path that God has chosen for you to live with your life. God has chosen a path that will do the most good for you and many others. Help people and never make fun of them. You have no idea of all the struggles they have had to go through or endure. If you knew everything a person had gone through, you would be astonished and dumbfounded. All of us carry burdens of some kind. Try to walk in the other person’s shoes and see if you can without falling and tripping. God, help us accept everyone as they are and not Judge them, for you are the only Judge of man, as written in the Bible. Be kind, joyful, hopeful, loving, peaceful, caring, and compassionate to all who cross your path in life.

Rummage Sales

Having a rummage sale is a quick way to eliminate unwanted items. If you have not used an item in ten years, you might as well sell it. I have found that true in most cases. Price things reasonably at your rummage sale; after all, the idea is to eliminate unwanted items. Some people will try to make a ridiculous offer for your items. If you have an item you purchased but never used for some reason, hang onto it and try selling it at your next rummage sale rather than taking a ridiculous offer. I had one woman buy an AC from me, and once I had it in her car, she tried to lower the price after we had agreed on it. I said no that I would take it out of her trunk; she then paid the price we had agreed on. I had a man taking things from my sale, and many witnesses saw him loading his car with my items before he paid me for him. I kept track of every item and presented him with the bill before he drove off. He was shocked that I knew exactly what he had loaded in his car. I have had good luck over the years except for those two people.

Facebook Marketplace

People have had excellent luck with Marketplace. They meet at the person in a busy parking lot where it is safe for both parties involved. I purchased a superb desk that way one time. If you are busy, this is an excellent way to sell as you can meet up with each other when you are free.

Auctions

Having an auctioneer sell your items takes all the hassle out of trying to sell the item yourself. They handle the advertising and the money. You have a wide array of people bidding on your items, and they have a list of collectors they can call for some items. It would be best if you had spotters in at an auction to watch unscrupulous people who put valuables in other boxes or take parts off an article so they can buy it for hardly anything.

Ebay

Selling on eBay gets your item noticed by many people far and wide. I like to look at things on eBay and look at what the item sold for, not what they were asking for the item. You can then price your item at a price that will sell quickly.

Advertising

You can put your item up on a board in some stores that have a board up for people to post their items on. Tell all of the good points about the item that you are selling so they will think they cannot live without it. Know everything there is to know about the item you are trying to sell. My Father had a disk for sale, and the man on the phone said I was the first woman who knew about farm equipment, and I sold the disk to him because I was informed.

Realtor

Your realtor can sell your home by having it on multiple listings so more people can see it. Most likely, they will have a walk-through video of the home. The realtor will handle all of the paperwork, so you do not have to hire someone to do that. I sold a house on Facebook one time by having a walk-through video.

The Art Of The Sale

Tell the people about what you are trying to sell. I sold my first three cars on my own. I mentioned they had low mileage, I had the service records, and they were in pristine condition, and I sold them ASAP. Never try to oversell something. Close the deal quickly and stop talking; after all, you have sold it now, so stop trying to sell it, as they may back out before you get their check.

Stay Active

Active Body

If you sit and do not move, your joints will freeze up eventually, making it impossible to move. As the old saying goes, if you rest too long, your body will rust. Staying active makes you more limber and able to move around better as you age. If you fall and break a bone by being busy over the years, the break will heal faster. I like to ride an e-bike as it makes peddling easier as we age. I have lost weight and feel better after I have ridden the bike. In the winter months, I use my treadmill. Find an activity you love that will help you stay trim and active. Walking is the best exercise of all for your achy, breaky back.

Active Mind

Make sure you learn something new every day. Take a lifelong learning class or two at your local college. Read the newspaper and magazines and books on history or biographies if you want to read a murder mystery, that is OK also. Work on crossword puzzles or word find books or put puzzles together. Work on learning games on your smartphone. Join a group discussion group that talks about various subjects, and you will learn a lot as everyone contributes something different to the conversation at hand.

Outdoor And Repair Work

You can stay active and learn about repairing your car, mower, and more. There is an art to spray paint so the paint does not run all over the place, and your project looks worse than before you started. You can learn a lot by reading repair manuals over the years. I have learned how to repair an array of various things. Trimming hedges and bushes keep you active, along with planting and weeding your garden. I stay busy freezing my harvest of vegetables. I froze 32 quarts of green beans and 20 packages of butternut squash. I stain my deck every year and paint various other things outdoors.

God And Church

By going to church, your mind stays active with God. Read a Bible verse or a different part of your Bible every day. I like to read a daily devotion. I try to see how it will work into my day today. The Bible keeps your mind active with God’s teachings for God’s children. I love to listen to our minister’s sermons. She has a way of making the sermons stand out and relate them to things I had not before. If you have an excellent minister, the Bible will come to life for you daily. You can help in many ways in your local church by contributing to worthy and necessary causes. You can donate items for what is needed the most at that time. You can help children get clothing and ensure they have heating fuel this winter. Kids need warm coats, mittens, boots, shoes, and more. You will be active in mind and spirit by supporting your church and mission project. Always help those less fortunate than you are; it will make you and them feel better.

Get Out With Other People

It has been proven that it pays to be social. People who get out often with other people tend to live longer and enjoy life more than those who want to be alone or are anti-social. Exercise with other people, as they will inspire you to keep moving. If you exercise alone, no one cheers you on, and you will not exercise as long or stay motivated. Go out to eat with friends regularly, as it is suitable for all of you to share the day’s activities, and it is a relaxing way to end your day.

God Wants You To Be Social

If you stay in and do not socialize, how can you help other people? God ensured there would be many people on earth to help—each other. Groups of people who know each other and get together often will generally help each other when they need help. God does not want man or woman to lead a sedentary life. He wants you to move and get out with others. Getting out makes it possible for you to live longer. God knows it is not good to live alone without friends or family. Friends and family should want to be very social and share what they have learned with each other and have family get-togethers. I love Thanksgiving and Christmas as they are very social events. People in your church family will generally help you when you need a hand with something you cannot do on your own.

Start-Up Conversations With People

I was on a plane on a very long flight and visited with the lady sitting next to me. Her flight was to see her son, who had just left the army in Europe. He was a military corporal and had completed his time in the military. We had a fascinating conversation back and forth, making the flight seem much shorter than it was. I started a conversation with a lady on my tour bus, and we became friends and sent Christmas cards back and forth until she died. I became friends with another lady on that same trip, and we emailed back and forth for at least five years.

Social Abilities

Some people can start a conversation with anyone and become good friends with them quickly. Some people have to have the other person start the conversation, which gets the ball rolling. Most anyone will visit with you if you talk gently and are kind while you converse with them. They will want to avoid you like the plague if you are brash and abrasive. If you do not know what to discuss, you can start talking about the weather or what you heard or read on the news today. Try to be social, as it will open more doors for you.

What Do You See?

Potential

Look at the whole picture, and then you can see the potential. Some people have a more significant potential than people give them credit for. If a person is not good in one aspect of life, it does not mean that they will not excel at something else. Never give up on anyone, and keep on cheering them on. Some people need to have someone have faith in them so that they can reach their full potential in life. Never downgrade anyone’s performance. Help them and encourage them to the very end. We need people who tell us we are doing a good job and to carry on in our pursuits in life. Never belittle someone’s accomplishments, as you have no idea of the trials and tribulations they endured to get to this point in their lives.

Old Homes Or Fixer-Uppers

I see potential in an old home when I walk through the house’s doors. I look at the woodwork and imagine what it looked like when the home was built. I picture the home repainted, the woodwork redone, the bathroom remodeled, new kitchen cupboards, and much more. I imagine how the family lived in the house when it was full of family gatherings that involved laughing, crying, entertaining, and all aspects of daily activity. Once again, I can see a grand old home where others can build wonderful family memories after it has had some loving care.

The Scheme Of Things

We should live out our lives as God has intended for us to do. We should be faithful stewards of the land and tend to it, removing weeds, trimming trees, planting and harvesting crops, and maintaining it to the best of our ability for future generations. We should leave a footprint behind for being here. We should do something significant with our lives that will help future generations. We should have great values and share them with others. Share what you know with others, and do not let your knowledge die with you, as it may help many people. In the scheme of things, the impact made by one person may seem insignificant. One person can find a cure for cancer and become a great country leader. All societal contributions help grow our community and keep us moving forward with new treatments and discoveries. Every human born can leave a productive footprint behind if they have the right mindset and people to cheer them on in life pursuits.

Always Look At The Whole Picture In Life

Do not live in your little world. Explore the world, and you will be happy with what you see. You will see rivers, mountains, flowers, and animals and learn that all humans want the same things no matter where we live. Never focus only on one thing in a picture; you may miss the pretty flower painted in the corner or a man walking his dog in another corner. There is much to focus on in life, so always be ready to look at and enjoy the entire picture, and you will live a contented, lovely life.

Taking Short Drives

Shopping In A Small Town Not Far From Where You Live

I like to shop in small towns as they are family-owned and operated. They are very friendly and welcoming when you enter their store and offer excellent service with a smile. If I ever have problems with any of my purchases, they make it suitable for me right away, and they remember me and call me by name when I enter their store. I love the small-town atmosphere. I have gotten wonderful deals on items in small towns. Some of their things have been on their shelves for some time, and they never raised their prices like in larger stores. If you have a hard-to-find older tool, go to an old hardware store, and you will find a quality tool. I once found wonderful new furniture in a small town, and they were glad every time they saw me come in. I have been to many small-town bakeries and found goodies that melt in your mouth.

I Love Driving Around The Lake In A Town Not Far From Me

Watching the boats on the lake and seeing the people having a good time is fun. I can see expensive boats and canoes and kayaks. There is a paddle-wheel boat that gives rides around the lake that I love to go on once a year. I love looking at the fancy homes built right next to the lake. The architecture in some of them is unique. I love to grab a coffee from a coffee shop and watch the boat, or people have a fabulous Farmers market in the tow next to the vast. They have giant vegetables, fresh vegetables, baked goods, handmade items, and much more. Their fireworks on the Fourth of July are fantastic. They also have art in the park and antiques sold once a year. They have Christmas by the lake and kite flying in March.

Rejuvenate Your Soul

Taking short drives is suitable as you can get out and enjoy your day with family or friends. Being cooped up in your house is not suitable for your frame of mind. You can get a different perspective if you stop and smell the roses. As the old saying goes, all work and no play makes Jack dull. Get out with people often, as you will never regret what you did. Travel and unravel and find new inner peace. You can learn a great deal by traveling, even if it is just a short drive, not more than 150 miles from home. You will be amazed by all the treasures you find daily while living your life to its fullest potential. Ride your bike in the great outdoors or your convertible with the wind flying through your hair. I love to travel and shop in small towns. Find Your place that you will repeat going to over and over again.
