Volume

How Much Volume Do Your Things Take Up?

If you have things stored everywhere, they take up a lot of space. If you have things just for the sake of having them, they take up way too much space in your life. I do not want to become encumbered with stuff I do not even look at, as life is too short to clean things that you may look at a few times and then forget about. If something takes up a lot of volume in your life, it can be not good. Some people get carried away in collecting something, which becomes an obsession. Do not waste a beautiful day chasing after something you will add to your collection. Collect in moderation so that you may enjoy the items and not have them stored away here, there, and everywhere, which will be a burden to someone someday as to how they will get rid of it. If you pay storage fees for things stored, get rid of them because if they were essential, they would be in your home and not stored in a storage shed. One man’s junk is another man’s treasure, which is not always true. Junk is junk, and true treasure is time spent with those you love. Never live for material objects; after all, none of us have seen a moving truck following a hearse to the cemetery. Your possessions are not crucial in the scheme of things. God, family, friends, and pets are essential in life and should take up all your life volume.

Volume That Drowns Out The Sounds Of Nature

I never could stand to hear a radio playing music at the highest volume possible as it drowns out all the sounds of nature. I once was at a campground with an A-rating, and at midnight, they started playing Ain’t Nothing But A Hound Dog all night long. The noise drowned out the sound of the crashing waves, which had lulled me to sleep earlier. Once, I was sitting by a lake, and a car pulled up with the loudest music you have ever heard. The birds I had been watching flew off at lightning speed, and I left, too, as it ruined the area’s tranquility. I was sitting at a stop sign, and this car pulled up beside me, ramping up his engine constantly as if he was challenging me to a race. I did not even look at him, which made him mad as he drove off with screeching tires burning rubber. Next to the fire and ambulance department, a man pulled up behind me and put on a siren, and I naturally figured it was an ambulance until I saw no one else was moving. Someone like him could cause a horrible accident.

Volume Has Its Limits

Take things slow in life and take time to smell the roses, so to speak. Do not let volume control your life or your actions. Keep your volume of things at a managed level. Never let someone drown out your moments of tranquility with their volume.

Try To Be Helpful

Help Others

If someone is carrying something heavy, hold the door open for them. You may see someone drop something, try to pick it up for them, and hand it back to them. If you find something in a store on the floor, bring it to the customer service desk so they can return it to its rightful owner. Remember, it is not always finders-keepers until you have taken every measure to return the item to its rightful owner to no avail. You may lose something you hold precious someday, and I am sure you would like to have someone try to return it to you. Helping someone out only takes a little bit of time off your day, and you will put a big smile on their face by the end of the day. God helps us every day of our lives, and where would we be without God’s help? We would be in dire straights indeed. Please share your knowledge with others willingly and help them grow and make an impact on the lives of others. Never act like a know-it-all, for no one is except God, our creator. Learn how to improve yourself every day and leave a positive impact that will help future generations that will come after you. When you help others, it also makes you feel good that you helped make their life a little brighter and better today.

Helpers In Our Lives

We depend on firefighters to protect our homes and property from fires and to save our loved ones and pets. The police break up disturbances and help protect us from harm. If we did not have people that we could call when we had emergencies, we would be dead or in horrible shape. When you call an ambulance, they get you to the ER ASAP, where a few minutes can be a matter of life or death in an emergency. Thank goodness we have trained surgeons and ER workers who work on keeping us alive and making us feel comfortable, as we may be in horrible pain after an accident. Without these trained and caring workers, we would be destined to die from accidents, illness, and diseases. I have been blessed to have the right people at the right time. Praise be to God. When a big cleanup project comes your way, and you are not prepared, it is terrific when friends step forward to help you as you feel overwhelmed by the task.

It Cheers People Up To Have Someone Help Them When All Seems Lost

If you have gone through a flood, tornado, fire, hurricane, or another horrible disaster you had no control over, it is heartwarming to have someone help you regain anything you thought was lost forever. If someone finds a family heirloom miles away and returns it to you, you feel like there is hope again. First responders, after a disaster, bring aid in food, clothes, housing, and cleanup. They will help with temporary housing costs as churches may sponsor a family or other organizations. God and caring individuals will help you get back on your feet after disaster strikes. Never lose your faith; faith in God will uplift you in all areas.

You Cannot Hide The Real You From Others.

You cannot pretend to be something you are not. People will soon catch onto one if they see you in action doing something that does not fit into the way you want people to see you. If you say you are generous to a fault, and then the next minute, you are trying to keep the best for yourself, you are not generous. If you do not want something, others won’t like it either. Some people will re-gift an item because they did not like it. Giving something to someone you do not like shows disrespect to the person you passed it off to. Be yourself always and consistently put yourself in the other person’s place.

God Knows What Is In Your Soul

You cannot hide one thing from God, as he watches over you and observes what you do daily. God notices how you treat people and pets. God knows if your intentions toward someone are good or bad. I have observed some people trying to do a soap job on people. They will say their product will cure the common cold, which would not help anyone as it has no medicinal quality. Years ago, a peddler came to my parents’ house and said he had vitamins to sell. My father opened up the container full of sawdust. I had a mechanic tell me my transmission was going out on my car when I had him fill my car with gas. He had put transmission oil on a rag and told me it was coming from my car. I told hFatherFather would look at it, and my car was fine, just as I thought. I wondered how many women he had tricked and had him fix or repair their transmission that was fine from the get-go. God knows what is in your soul, and you will not be able to get by with something without God knowing all about it, and everything will not be good with your soul.

The Inner You Will Come Out In Its Full Light

Some people will do something good to get Brownie points. I wouldn’t say I like that type of person. I hope you have a genuine and pure heart and do good things for others because you are kind, good, compassionate, loving, and caring for the needs of others. Over the years, people have said I will help you, and they never have. Do not promise something that you never tend to deliver. I would hope that you realize your children are watching and learning from you how to treat others. I had a little boy hold a door open for me the other day, and I thanked him for doing so. Another woman told the boy’s Mother you bought him to respect and help his elders. I have had excellent tenants over the years, but some were nasty ones. The bad ones tend to show you what they are when they move out of your house and leave all of their garbage behind and damage your home. One tenant painted the bathtub black and stuffed the cold air registers with newspapers, which I removed ASAP as they could have started a fire while running the furnace. I hauled five large dumpsters out of a small two-bedroom home with a garage. I am so glad I only own one home now. What you leave behind in this world will be noticed, and somebody will hold you accountable.

Appearances

Never Think You Know A Person Just By How They Dress

I was shopping in Fareway one day, and a former classmate approached me and said things must be going badly for me. I thought, why would he say that? Then I realized I had my paint clothes on while working on one of my rental properties. I never said anything to him, as I did not think he would have believed me anyway. I read about a wealthy man who dressed badly on purpose to see how people would treat him. One day, one of his employees approached him and said what a disgusting-looking bum and walked away. She had not realized he was her boss, and he later fired her for how she acted. Just because a person does not dress like you do does not mean that he is loved any less by God, and you should act like God does. One businessman spent his vacation on an island in old, comfortable clothing because he was tired of always being dressed in business suits. His business associate did not recognize him, and his associate asked why this luxury resort would take people like him. The business owner heard every word he said and told him he did not know why he had ever taken him on as his business associate. Another friend got hired to fill the associate position.

Appearances Are Not Everything

Some people love to appear as know-it-alls or holier than now or that they are the cats meow. None of us are perfect; the sooner we accept that, the better off we will be. We all fall short of being perfect, as we have sometimes sinned or misbehaved. God knows our actual appearance, as no one can deceive God. God knows what is in our inner soul and if we use it to make the world a better place or if we cause trouble in the world. All of us are born with some defect, and some are more noticeable than others. Never make fun of anyone; your defeat will be much larger than theirs. If someone mentioned your defects, I think you would not like it and feel bad and sad. I have a cat with the tip of one of her ears frozen off, and I love her the same as my other cats.

Homes

Some homes may not look good when you drive by, but their house is immaculate when you enter. We prioritize what we must fix first according to our finances. Also, some homes look lovely when you drive by, but the inside needs lots of work. People are like homes; some look lovely on the outside but not so much on the inside. Make sure you look good inside, show people the inner you, and spread peace, joy, love, and hope to make the world a better place for you having been here. God wants people to have an appearance representing one of God’s followers.

Broaden Your Horizons

Travel

Travel is an excellent way to broaden your horizons. You get to see things that you have read about in books and experience them firsthand. If you live in the States, travel to the different states, and you will be amazed by the beauty of each state. I love the mountains in Colorado and the smell of the crisp air up high in the mountains. Virginia was a lovely state to visit as it holds many historical events that helped shape our nation. Williamsburg, Virginia, has a living history area that you can walk through, and I thoroughly enjoyed that as I love history. I bought a silver cross that a silversmith made. I loved my visit to the New England States in the fall and enjoyed driving in New Hampshire and looking at all the beautiful fall colors. I loved driving along the coast of Maine and eating fresh lobster, crab legs, and lobster bisque soup. I had a wonderful time in Vermont, and I went to a farm that produces pure maple syrup, which is delicious. I had to purchase several bottles that they sent to my home address. Visiting The Vermont Country Store was fun, and I bought several items there. All the states will have something that will excite you, and you will remember what you saw and did in that state forever.

Make Sure You Learn Something New Everyday

Listen to documentaries, read your Bible, start a new hobby, read magazines or books on any nonfiction subject, plan a trip in the winter for the spring or summer, and talk to people. You will be surprised how much you can learn from them. Take any class on any subject you would like to learn more about. Listen to what your elders tell you as you will learn much from them, for they have lived through many different events and will be willing to share their stories with you. Listen closely to them, and you will walk away a better and more knowledgeable person.

Read Your Bible And Devotions

Follow God’s words, and you will notice how God can positively affect your life. Without God by our side, we are nothing. With God by our side, the possibilities are endless. The Bible teaches us life lessons, and yes, they do apply today. Think of how something you read in the Bible or a devotion applies to your everyday living. I have seen how devotion applied to many days in my life. God has always put the right people in my life at the right time. I thank God for my many blessings every day.

Overseas Travel

I have traveled to all of the countries my ancestors came from. I was lucky enough to visit with some of my wonderful relatives, and they treated my friend and me like royalty. I love Switzerland, as I love majestic mountain views and well-maintained buildings. I especially loved the village of Giswal, Switzerland. I could hear the cows ringing their bells in the meadow and see a farmer milking them in the morning. I loved how the village seemed to be untouched by the passage of time as it remained small. The church was beautiful, the cemetery was manicured to perfection, and the graves had a picture of each person who had died on them. In Amsterdam, I walked on the same streets and saw the same houses as my ancestors from the 1600s. I learned a lot about each country, and some people in the towns knew my ancestors’ last names. They told me their vast history, what they did for a living, and much more. Keep broadening your horizons. I saw Manx cats on The Isle Of Man.

God Will Direct You

God knows what he wants you to do when you retire, and he will guide you and show you the way. When one door closes, God will open another door for you with much more behind that door. I became a lay minister for my church, and I love to call people on the phone and read my inspirations with laura post to them. I also visit with them, and I learn a great deal from our visits. I play my harmonicas at some assisted living facilities and rest homes. I love visiting people at the rest homes and look forward to our visits. I love to try to lift people’s spirits and listen to their joys and concerns. God knows all about you and where you can do the most good at whatever point you are on your life’s journey.

Gardening

I love gardening, and it offers bountiful harvests of many different types, such as exercise, enjoying the great outdoors, and eating healthy vegetables. Working the soil and raising crops gives one a great sense of accomplishment. It has been proven that gardeners are more mobile, fit, and trim than those who do not. I love mowing my yard and keeping my place looking neat and trim. I also love to keep my trees trimmed and bushes and brush under control. I use a small chainsaw that takes care of most tree trimming.

Travel

If you have not traveled much, start now, as one’s health and body can deteriorate quickly, making travel impossible. If you have a particular location, make plans to go there and enjoy the food, sights, and people and see all that you want to see in the time frame that you have allocated. Traveling with someone you know who enjoys the same things you do makes the vacation twice as lovely, and you will share and cherish those moments forever.

Get Out With Friends

In retirement, the worst thing you can do is stay in your house and be bored. Friends make even the bad times good by knowing what to say to you and motivating you in the right direction. If someone wants to be a friend with you, never say no if you think the friendship would work out well for both of you. One can never have too many good and trusted friends. God put family and friends on earth to help us along our journey in life.

If You Have A Desire To Do Something You Always Wanted To Do Now Is The Time

If you want to write and publish a book, write a song, do artwork, and much more, go for it. Some people have an old car that belonged to their Father, which they have always wanted to redo, and they now have time to make that dream a reality. You may want to remodel your home or downsize, so do it now and enjoy it for many years. Never put things off, or you may never get your dream completed. Think positive and keep your mind active with lifelong learning classes, reading, crossword puzzles, and more. I hope you enjoy a happy and healthy retirement for many years.

Some People Like To Put People Into Neat Little Categories

No one fits into a neat little category. All of us bring something different to the table. One person may excel in something, and the other person does not. I guarantee that everyone will excel at something if given a chance and not put into a category. If you teach young people, never put them in a category as it could scar them for life.

Never Make Fun Of Someone Because Of How They Look Or Dress

If you have been painting all day, you may wear your paint clothes while you have coffee or eat out. Years ago, one party saw me in my paint clothes and told me things must be going badly for me. People may dress however they wish, which is a good thing. No one can say anything about what they wear for the day. On pajama work days, people can wear pajamas to work. Blue Jeans and sweatpants have been accepted for years.

Young People And Teenagers

There are good and bad people. We tend to read bad things about teenagers in newspapers. I have met many wonderful teenagers over the years. They are polite, kind, and caring. One young woman held a door open for me the other day, and I thanked her for doing so. I had a young boy about eight years old hold a door open for me, and another woman said, “You raised your son right,” which she did. One young lady was willing to give her seat on a bus to any older woman, and her Mother told her no. Someday, her Mother will be old, and maybe no one will give up their seat on a bus or train for her.

Senior Citizens

We can learn a lot by listening to our elders, as they have experienced and seen much in their lifetimes. Listen to people’s stories from the past, and you will be enlightened. Maybe they do not know modern technology, but they still know much more than you do. Life is about what you have learned through the years and how you pass that valuable knowledge along to the next generation, and hopefully, it will continuously get passed down. I love to visit with Senior citizens as I learn something new and valuable every time I talk to them. People are always willing to share their stories with you if you only take the time to visit with them and listen.

Everyone Contributes To Society In Different Ways

Maybe some people do not have glamorous jobs, but without them doing that job, a link in the chain would be broken, and the work could not be completed as scheduled. We all have to contribute to make a positive impact at work or in the world. We are all servants of God and should strive to teach God’s good works to the masses. Contribute, learn, be kind, loving, and compassionate, listen to others, and serve others.

Don’t Be So Judgmental

Don’t reem people out, as you do not know what they may be going through. You do not know about someone’s health just by looking at them. Others cannot see some diseases, aches, and pains but have ongoing health issues. Don’t get upset if someone does something you may think is not right until you find out why they did it the way they did. Why upset someone unnecessarily unless you get a sick kick out of it, and it is your power trip? If so, I feel sorry for you. We will all have many rivers and valleys to overcome in our lifetimes, and we hope we can make it with help from caring, compassionate, and kind people leading and helping us.

Sometimes, People See Your Kindness As A Weakness, And They Try To Take Advantage Of You

Stand your ground and never let anyone take you down. Stand up for what is right and just. Kind people learn to defend the ones they love with the power of a Mother Lion. Compassionate people love their friends dearly and will always go the extra mile for them. Beware if you try to prevent them from seeing and helping their friends. A fierce storm will brew in them, unleashing it whenever you want to prevent them from having a good day with their friends.

God Knows What Is Right And Just

God watches everyone and everything you do every day. Think about that and ponder it the next time you try to pull a fast one on someone. It will catch up with you and haunt you forever. Life seems unfair sometimes, but it will be when all is said and done. Do you want people to remember you as a kind person or a judgmental person? Kindness is not a weakness; it is what we need more of in the world to make it a happy place for all. God is kind to us. We must practice and follow God’s path and be kind to all. If one has a problem and others cannot see it, you must tell them so they return to the right path. People cannot see their issues sometimes, but they certainly can see yours if it is visible. People see and hear what they want. God hears and sees all, and he is the only one entitled to judge man.

Life Has Good People And Bad People

Try to seek out the good people in your life and weed out the bad ones, as they will continue to bring you down. Your circle should be people who lift you and make the dark days bright and cheery. If someone uses you, get them out of your life; the pattern will continue and never end. When one door closes in your life, a better door will open. Friends will stay with you through all the turbulent times and good times and never falter in their love for you and your well-being. God bless our dear and loving friends.

Get Out With People Often

If you do not get out with friends, you may dwell on problems. By getting out with friends, you can take your mind off your worries and focus on the positives in your life. If you lock yourself away like a hermit, you will continuously think of all the negative things that have happened to you. Friends lift your spirits and bring out the sunshine on the darkest days. A friend may suggest a fun outing or adventure you will remember for many years. You can always join a club of some kind. My grandmother belonged to a book club and made many friends just by being in that book club. If your local college has lifelong learning classes, take some of them as the classes will enrich your mind, and you will also make new friends. Go to a concert or a movie, and you will meet people from all different walks of life by just going to various events in your area or out of town. I hope you have been blessed to have traveled with friends and that you can cherish those wonderful memories forever.

Travel

I have been blessed to have an excellent travel companion over the years. She is older than me, but age makes no difference. We are very good friends. We do not take as long of trips as we did years ago, but we both enjoy each other’s company and make each other laugh. Travel while you can because you never know what lies down the road, as your health could change in a heartbeat. Traveling with someone who likes the same things you do and wants to experience the area’s foods, soak in the atmosphere, and take in as many events as possible is a blessing. I encourage everyone to find a friend to travel with as travel opens up a gateway of knowledge. I found out about my ancestors and walked on the same ground as they had before me. I visited the farm where my great-grandfather grew up as a child, and I visited with some of my cousins, which was a wonderful and memorable experience that I will hold dear forever.

Stay Focused On God

Staying focused on God is the primary key to living life to its full potential. If you do not, you will be like a ship lost at sea without a lighthouse or compass to lead it back to a safe harbor. Sometimes, we tend to drift away from God when we have smooth sailing, and then we ask God for help when we have turmoil. God does not want a rainy-day friend. He wants you to praise him in good and bad times. God has answered many of my prayers, for which I am immensely grateful. God knows what you need in your life and when to give it. Life is perplexing and complex as it has many curves and valleys, mountains, and treacherous events to get through, but with faith and God’s guidance, you will make it.

Cat Toys And Cat Trees

My cats love cat trees. They love to sleep up high so they can keep watch on animals outdoors and the other cats in my house. Cats love to sleep from a high vantage point out in the wild and indoors, as they can spot prey or potential danger. I like a very sturdy cat tree; otherwise, the support for the bed will fall off, and you will have to repair it or replace the cat tree. I try to buy cat toys with catnip, as they are a favorite for most cats. I purchased a new cat massager for my cats, and they love to rub their face, checks, and under their chin on it. Cat hammocks are a must-have for my cats as they love to sleep in the hammock curled up in a tight little ball and keep warmer that way.

Heated Beds

My cats love the heated windowsill cat beds and the round ones on the ground. I have had one wicker plastic model that has lasted ten years and counting. My outdoor K&H heated cat beds last at least ten years before they wear out. Buy a top-quality heated bed, as it will last for many years. Wait for sale prices before buying a heated bed. I generally buy my heated cat beds in the middle of the summer for about 50% off the original price. My cats do not like heated beds that have a cover over them unless it has a roof. Sometimes, three to five cats may come out of a heated cat building in the middle of the winter.

A Heater Or Furnace For Your Cats

If you have cats in your home, they are most likely toasty and warm with your furnace. If your cats live in another building, have an infrared heater in it, or consider putting a furnace in the building, as it will distribute the heat evenly. Ensure your building has lots of insulation in the walls and the attic, as it will save you money on your heat bills. Have warm and draft-free areas for your cats to sleep in at all times, as cats do not do well with any drafts that may hit them while they sleep and may develop a respiratory illness.

Cats Want To Be Happy And Healthy Everyday

Give your cat the gift of regular vet visits. Your vet may be able to prevent a disease from killing your cat because he caught it early by examining it in an annual physical. Keeping your cat’s shots up to date may save his life and prevent your cats from sharing their illnesses with your other household cats if everyone has their shots current.

Cat Food And Treats

Buy grain-free and non-GMO cat food without byproducts or fillers, as you are what you eat. Try to buy dye-free cat food and canned food without ash. Cats love freeze-dried cat treats. If your cat does not like a particular brand of food, throw it away; your cat knows what is best for him because of how he feels after he eats it. Buy the best cat food that you can afford for your feline friend. I hope everyone’s dreams come true this Christmas and their feline friends live all of their nine lives to their fullest potential.
