Time With Friends And Family On The Holidays

Beautiful memories can be made with family and friends on Holidays. I have many lovely memories of family holidays over the years and times spent with friends on holidays. I hope you will have pleasant memories of holidays with your loved ones as the years pass.

July 4th

I loved going to the parade on the 4th of July and shopping in the stores. I especially loved the carnival when I was a kid. Over the years, I have won several goldfish, can openers, dishes, glasses, plates, cups, and more. The fireworks at night were always spectacular. My parents and I would go to fireworks in various small towns. One of my friends would go with me to the lake, and we would sit on a bench and watch the fireworks. I loved spending time at a friend’s house, having a 4th of July picnic by the lake, and watching the fireworks in the evening. I watch some of the fireworks from my home now.

Easter Sunday

We would go to church in our new Easter outfits. When I was very young, I would wear an Easter bonnet to church. Later in the day, we would have an Easter Sunday lunch with family or friends. I remember my Grandmother hiding Easter eggs under the furniture for me to find. I love going to a church and seeing the church pews full of people. Jesus laid down his life on the cross for our sins so that we may be forgiven for ours. On the third day, he arose from the grave.

Thanksgiving Day

We always had a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey, stuffing, potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. Sometimes, we would eat out or prepare a Thanksgiving meal at home and invite family. We would visit and watch TV; sometimes, if the company could stay, we also had dinner together. Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful for our bountiful harvest and the many blessings God has given to us.

Christmas

Christmas is always a joyous time of the year. We celebrate the birth of Jesus. Young children count the days until Christmas, anticipating what gifts they will receive. I remember a Christmas Eve evening at my church when the pews, balcony, and extra chairs were full of people celebrating the birth of Christ, our Lord and Savior. I loved attending a church that evening, as everyone was singing. It was a joyous evening. We used to go to a family house out of town years ago, and I would play with my cousin outdoors after our delicious Christmas meal. We had a sled and slid down the hill many times, laughing all the way down. We would exchange Christmas presents, and we had beautiful memories. I would also go to my aunt’s homes, have excellent Christmas meals, and play and talk to my cousins. I loved going to a friend’s house next to a Lake and having Christmas with them; we exchanged gifts and watched Christmas movies. Times change as we get older, but we can remember the beautiful memories we have made over the holidays and other times.
