Signs That Let You Know Your Cat Is Not Feeling Well

If Your Cat Starts Sleeping More Than Usual

More sleep can be a warning of a disease or sickness in your cat. If your cat would rather sleep than be held, that would be a sign that your cat is sick. Your cat’s sleep pattern may change abruptly, as they may start meowing all night long. Your cat may begin waking you up in the middle of the night if they are not feeling well. Cats do sleep many hours a day, but if they sleep and show no interest in what they used to, there is a health problem that needs immediate attention.

Their tail Position May Change.

A healthy cat generally has its tail pointing straight up. Sick cats stop raising their tails in the air and hang them down. They may stop swinging their tail from time to time. You can tell a lot about a cat by how its tail is hanging.

Eye Drainage

I have noticed that some cats seem to have more eye discharge when they are not feeling well. A cat with distemper will most likely have its eye glued shut due to drainage. Healthy cats have clean eyes ready to hunt for potential prey.

Sneezing

Cats indicate allergies or dryness in your home during the winter months by sneezing. If the sneezing gets worse, take your cat to your vet, as they may have a common respiratory virus. We can give out carts COVID by letting them sleep in bed with us if we have COVID. Certain flus can cross over from humans to cats. If your cat has a cold, a vaporizer can help relieve symptoms. You can wash their runny eyes with water and a soft towel.

Your Cat Hides All The Time

If your cat hides all of the time and does not come out to eat, they are genuinely ill. Cats like to go to an area where they will be alone when they pass, if possible. Your cat does not come anymore when you call him because he is ill.

Loss Of Interest In Things

Your cat stops playing with his favorite toys or games, and he no longer interacts with your other cats or visitors as he used to. If your cat used to sit on the windowsill every day and he stops doing that, that is one red flag that he is unwell. Your cat stops wanting to sleep in bed with you at night because he is not feeling well.

Sleeping In A Cold Bathtub

If your cat has a fever, he may start sleeping in your bathtub because it is generally cold and he wants to feel cooler. Cata will seek out cold or warm spots depending on how they feel at that moment.

Your Cat Has A Personality Change

A cat that is used to being quite docile may become aggressive, biting or attacking you and hissing at you or your other cats in your household. Cats will do their best to let you know how they are feeling, but you must watch for their subtle signs.
