Problem items That I have owned Over The Years

Problem Items That I Have Owned Over The Years

Small TV Antennas

I purchased several small TV antennas over the years and none of them worked. For some of them, no signals whatsoever came through and for others, I could only get Educational TV.

Toasters

Most of the toasters that I have owned wore out quickly and the toast was very light in color no matter where you adjusted the setting. My parent’s Old General Mills toaster lasted for 35 years before it stopped working.

Lawn Mowers

I have had two lawnmowers that the gears wore out right away. I had a riding mower that had the wiring harness under the mower and it would drop down from time to time and then the mower would grind up the cord and the deck would stop working. I had a riding mower that would overheat after two hours of us and stop working. Two hours later it would run fine again after it cooled off. None of the repair shops ever got it fixed. It was a very costly mower. The Toro self-propelled mowers last forever.

Cars With Small Engines

I  had issues with the oil leaking into the radiator on small engine cars that had aluminum head motors. I have had no luck at all with any other aluminum head engines. I wish they still had the 350 Chevy engines that lasted forever practically.

Furnaces

I had the heat exchanger crack in my furnace and luckily I noticed it on the outside of the furnace as a dark brown line ran down through the paint on the outside of the furnace. A cracked heat exchanger can kill you by breathing in carbon monoxide. I had a furnace that only lasted 14 years. before it stopped working it would bang and make awful noises The old furnaces would last up to forty years.

Car Tires

I have had trouble with tires that were supposed to have good traction but had no traction whatsoever. I would put new tires on any car that I purchased that came with tires like that. I like a tire that is not too soft and has a lot of tread on it and it is designed to go through deep snow with no problems and that will give you optimal traction.

Clothing Or Shoes

Depending in what country my piece of clothing is made in will determine how long it lasts. I have had articles of clothing that were sown poorly or that shrank away or got holes in them soon. The sizing in clothes varies greatly and you may have to buy two or three sizes larger than what you would normally. If I am lucky a pair of socks will hold together for three months before it is full of holes. I purchased a pair of fancy boots and the soles flew off the bottom of the shoes as I was walking along, Someone forgot to glue them on. The shoe store that I purchased them at said too bad and I told them I would never be back again. I purchased ten pairs of shoes from them with no complaints. I purchased a pair of cowboy boots that must have been made from an old cow that had died. The leather in them fell completely to pieces in three months. Be careful where you buy things. Try to buy from a reputable store that will stand behind what they sell and want to have satisfied customers as a happy customer brings more customers to their door and unsatisfied customers take customers away. The flannel shirt pictured is nice and thick and very well made.

Making A Big Production Out of Nothing

Making A Big Production Out Of Nothing

Work Projects

Some people make a big production out of a simple little work project. They keep calling workers for estimates when they should have hired someone by the third estimate. Life is too short to make a big production from a small project. The procrastinator keeps thinking about the project and never gets anything up and going with the work at hand. I like to take care of all my work projects as soon as possible to put them out of my mind. I work fast and efficiently and get the job done right the first time; that is what I expect from the people I hire. Some people work very slowly so they can pay their bills. I have had people say you should fix this, that, and the other, and I tell them if I thought it needed, I would fix it. I had a mechanic try to say to me my car needed all new brakes and that the transmission was leaking oil. I told him I would not have made it to his place if the news had been that bad. I told him my Father would look at it. My Father said there was nothing wrong with my car as I had thought. I went there for a simple oil change. He did not change my oil, and He was reported to the Better Business Bureau by someone, and his doors were locked forever. Honesty always pays if you want to remain in good standing with people. Some people must read all of the instructions before they assemble something. I put the items together without reading the instructions and have always had good luck. I would read the instructions if it were dangerous or flame-able.

Getting Ready For Something

I had seen girls spend hours combing their hair when I was in Junior High, and honestly, it did not look that much better than when they first started. People try to make elaborate plans for a fancy events that they know they will not be able to complete on schedule. It is best to simplify your goals to what is reasonable to achieve. If I have to be someplace early in the morning, I set my alarm clock and lay out the clothes I will wear the night before, and that way going to your early appt. will not be a big production. Complete all your most complex tasks in the morning and save the easy ones for later. That way, you will achieve your goals.

Life In General

Some people make a mountain out of a molehill. Sometimes a person will feel doomed just because one thing did not go according to plan. We must think of everything we did in our lives that has gone according to plan or made a better person for the experience. Please do not make a Big Production over little trivial things, as they will continue to happen until the day you die. Live your life fully with love, laughter, joy, hope, kindness, and peace, and do not sweat the small stuff. Be slow to anger and quick to forgive.

Moving Is Not Easy

Moving Is Not Easy

Deciding What To Take To Your New Location

If you have not used something in ten years you might as well get rid of it because chances of you using it are slim to none. If you have several sets of dishes get rid of the older ones. Sort out your clothes as most of us have too many tucked away in our closets and give the excess to Goodwill or someplace similar. I would take my favorite furniture and try to sell what I did not need. Now is a good time to get rid of those extra blankets and bedding that you may have stored in a Cedar Chest. Get rid of old books, pots and pans, kitchen gadgets and things in your house that have just been gathering dust. I took my old electronic equipment to a store that recycles it after I had cleared out the hard drive. Sort through all of your tools and hang onto the brand name ones as they last along time. Have an online auction for items that you like but do not wish to take with you.

Boxing And Organizing

It takes a very long time to box up your items and pack them with care so you do not have any breakage hopefully. Organize your boxes according to the rooms that you took them out of. Mark all of your boxes as to what the box contains and the room it came from. By marking the box you will not have to keep moving it around as you can set it in the room where it belongs to begin with.

Hiring Movers

Make sure you have checked out your movers history before you hire them. One woman hired movers that scratched up all of her furniture and they were not insured and she lost a lot of money. If she would have looked them up to begin with she would have seen that there ratings were very poor. Hire movers that will wrap your furniture with bubble wrap and put moving blankets between your items.

Dangers In Moving

Running up and down steps with heavy items can be very dangerous. One party had a house with pie steps and trying to move anything up and down on pie steps is not easy at all. A lady could not find her cat when the movers left. She went to the shed were her items were stored in three day and found her cat still alive in a chest of drawers luckily. A lot of pets run out of the door when the movers are loading up your items. Some pets return to the home and walk in the door to the new owner and some are gone forever. Lock your pet in a room when you have movers. One can easily fall when moving items if you are not careful were you step. Make sure your gas valve is completely off before you disconnect a stove. Some homes have blown up or people have died from the fumes.

Moving And Getting To Know New People

It id hard to leave your old friends behind when you move. You can still call them and visit with them but it is not like it used to be. Be outgoing and talk to your new neighbors and take them out to lunch and eventually you will have strong and lasting friendships in your new home. Hope your moving adventure moves along without too many hassles or delays.

Do Not Expect More Than Is Possible From People

Do Not Expect More Than Is Possible From People

Perfection Beyond Perfection

When you hire someone, do not expect them to do more than you could. Never complain over trivial items. One party said they wanted their garden trimmed down to the ground, and then the next day, they said that they wanted it two inches above the ground. They complained to the party that had done the ridiculous work. The party that did the job said they would never work for them again. One party had tried to hire every carpenter in his town, and everyone got so flustered and upset with their demands that none of them would work for them. A man got estimates from everyone in his hometown, and then he decided he would not hire any of them because he thought they charged too much. Never be rude or unkind to people you want to lease or those that work for you, or they will never darken your doorstep again, and it will be your loss.

Painting

One party hired a painter and told him to scrap every little bit of the old paint off his house. That person then took an ink pen and circled places you could hardly see with an ink pen and complained that he did not do a good job scraping his house. Another party wanted a painter to use only one coat of paint, and then when he was done, he told him it did not look good, and he wanted another coat of paint on the house, or he would not pay him. The painter applied the second coat of paint, then told all of the other painters in town about that person, and the man could never get anyone to repaint his house. Be sensible and reasonable about what you complain about.

Lawn Mowing

A man hired his lawn to be mowed once a week at a certain height, which worked well until the dry spell. He had told the man about the dry spell, but he demanded he mows it once a week. When he returned home from his trip, his lawn was brown and almost dead. It was not the man’s fault that worked for him as he followed his instructions to a tee. When you make a mistake, the results are on you, not the party you hired.

Cement Work

Cement can only be cured at certain temperatures, and it takes so long to dry before you can build a house on its foundation. One woman did not want to wait long to have her home made, so she told the contractors her cement was cured and dried. They built the house on the foundation, and the foundation cracked in many places later on; she was mad at them. She had lied to them, and it was on her, not them. She had to lift the house and have a new foundation poured.

All Kinds Of Jobs

If you hire someone for a job and they do what you told them to, pay them and thank them for a well-done job. Never complain about trivial things or things that were your fault. Never be quick to find a spot with anyone, as we all try to do our best for others.

See With Clarity

See With Clarity

Clean Up Misunderstandings With People

Suppose someone sees something in a very different light than you do; find out why. Perhaps the person misunderstood what you tried to convey to them. If one word is wrong in a conversation with someone, you might stir up a hornet’s nest and not even know why. Suppose someone gets mad at you suddenly; find out why. Do not sit around crying and thinking, why won’t they speak to me anymore? Ask your friend or coworker what you said or did that made them mad at you and got it resolved quickly before it keeps escalating and keeping you awake at night. Without clarity, in a situation, no one can see the other person’s true feelings or why they responded as they did.

Store Owner And Customers

If you have a store and someone says you sold them defective merchandise, try to satisfy the customer by exchanging the item. If you can Definity see that they broke the thing trying to assemble it, help them make it with a new part. Remember, the customer is always right; they will tell others quickly if you do not treat them. Help out your customers after the sale. Businesses told me the item was mine now, and I was alone. Luckily, I went to the store owner, who made it right. Business owners must have clarity with their customers to stay in business and have repeat customers. One time a man went to a car shop with a problem with his car, and they said here is the wrench. Fix it yourself. I felt sorry for the older man and knew they would never have pulled that with him if he had been younger. That car shop lost my business forever after I saw how they treated him.

Health Care And Clarity

Treating you fairly and with the utmost respect in a hospital would be best. A healthcare worker told me to clean up my mess when I was very ill. When she gets older, she will have clarity when treated the same or worse. Some people never have clarity when caring for others and never will unless they realize that they will be old and sick someday, and that is how they will want to be treated. They will wish for someone gentle, caring, compassionate, and kind to meet their needs. No one wants to be in a nursing home, care center, or a hospital, but it becomes necessary as we age, and we need people with great clarity to help us at our most vulnerable times. Old age comes to all, and time moves along very quickly. Care worker’s time keeps moving into the future, and you will be in a care center shortly. Remember The Golden Rule –  do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

Things To Improve On

Things To Improve On

Thank People

Thank the people that have helped you out. Never take someone’s friendship for granted. Company is given and taken. To have a friend, you have to be a friend. Once a hateful word leaves your mouth, you cannot take it back because it is like a sped arrow lost in the dark. I had a friend of a friend yell at one of my friends, cursing him out for something he did not do. I felt terrible about the situation and apologized to my friend, who got cursed at for no good reason. Thank People, and never make a mountain out of a molehill because it will come back to bite you.

Be Kind And Considerate Of Other Peoples’s Feelings

Once feathers get ruffled, they never seem to lay back down the same way again. If you have a waitress working all by herself because the other workers did not show up to work, do not ask her where my food is or hurry up. She is doing her best and giving h, er an extra large tip because at least she came to work and served you. Please do not say things that hurt people and put them down, as there is plenty of negativity in the World already. Life people up and make their day and go the extra mile to help out others. Using curse words against someone in a conversation gives you no credibility. I don’t pay attention to one word they say to me since they cannot communicate in an educated or polite manner.

Be Grateful, Joyful, Peaceful, and Hopeful

Be grateful for what God has provided for you. Thank God for your many blessings every day. Bring joy into the lives of others and be hopeful and settle any differences peacefully. Take a friend out for a surprise lunch and make sure they have a joyful and memorable day to look back on. I hope things will improve, and do not dwell on negative thoughts. God brings joy, laughter, hope, peace, love, and much more into our lives. I am grateful to have God and good friends, family, and more in my life.

Never Make Anyone’s Life Miserable

If you see someone making a person’s life miserable, try to stop it. Never make fun of someone, for the next person that may be made fun of could be you. Always look at the whole picture in life, not just one little section. Never make someone cry or suffer for your wrongs. If you have wronged someone, make it suitable with them ASAP. Never go to bed with an angry heart. Forgive people, for we all make mistakes, stumble, and fall occasionally. God lifts people an,d gives us hope for a spiritual life in heaven. For God, you so loved the World that he gave his only son so that everyone who believes in him shall not perish but has eternal life. Put your best self out there for the World to see and enjoy being kind, helpful, and loving to those who cross your path in life. God bless you and help you improve on things in your life.

The Constant Complainer

The Constant Complainer

Complaints On Workmanship

Some people want a job completed to complete perfection beyond what is possible. You cannot make an old house into a brand-new home. One man told me that his carpenter did too much of a good job. I guess he figured if the position was a horse, he would,ld have had to pay less money. people complain when you try to help them out, telling you they could have done it themselves when they can’t. I have learned that sometimes when you try to help someone out, you can never do it to their satisfaction, even if you do cartwheels. Sometimes it comes down to shooting the messenger, as you cannot win no matter what you do. I have been blessed by people who know what they are doing, and I congratulate them for a well-done job. Remember to thank people when they go beyond the call of duty to help you out. Do not be a constant complainer because no one will be willing to help you someday.

Restaurants And Food

One man ate his steak, and then he complained that the steak was no good. You cannot have your steak accessible and eat all of it to the last bite. People complain to the waitress that their order is taking too long. When they finally get their order, they do not leave their waitress an incredibly wrong tip. Your waitress had no control over what was happening in the kitchen. Restaurants want to satisfy all their customers so that they will have repeat and new customers, as word of mouth travels fast. Be polite and kind to your waitress when you tip her.

Why Did God Forsake Me?

God never forsakes us, even in our darkest days. Why did Jesus say My God, my God, why have you left me? Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Jesus was made a sin offering, and he died in our place, on our account. God placed the sins of the World on his son, which is why he felt he was forsaken. God was by his side until he took his last earthly breath. God is always by your side 24/7, and be grateful and thank God daily for your many blessings. Jesus suffered for our sins so that we will have everlasting life and be forgiven if we genuinely repent from our sinful ways. Jesus is in heaven. Every Christian’s first principal goal should be being in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Complaints From A To Z

If it was sunny, I could go outdoors and accomplish something today. If you genuinely want to get something done, the weather makes no difference unless it’s a raging blizzard, tornado, or another weather disaster. The dog ate my homework, yeah, right. I cannot make it today. Something else came up, and you would like to say it seems to come up constantly. I cannot pay my rent because I need a new wardrobe and you say don’t we all. Stop complaining, make your sunshine, do not ruin someone else’s day, and remember, if you cannot say anything nice, say nothing.

Fall Cleanup

Fall Cleanup

Outdoor Cleanup

I pull up all of the old plants in my garden and use them for compost. I put fertilizer in my garden and work it into my garden soil. It is now time to clean up all of the tools and gently oil them and store them away for the winter season. I put fresh oil in my garden equipment, ensuring all my batteries are charged and working correctly on my vehicles. Check the anti-freeze in your cars, as you do not want your engines to freeze up and cost you thousands of dollars to fix them. I wash and wax my vehicles, including lawnmowers and tractors. That way, the salt will not ruin your truck over the winter months. I wax my garage doors, air conditioner, and other metal objects exposed to the elements. Sweep out your buildings and throw away or recycle items you no longer use stored in your facilities. Oil door hinges or locks are in prime working order for the cold weather.

Indoor Cleaning

Clean each room in your home thoroughly and eliminate all items you have not used in a long time. Now is an excellent time to add extra insulation to your attic. I love painting and staining in the fall as the weather is cooler. Paint anything on or in your home or buildings that need attention so it will not rot out over the winter. Clean up cupboards, closets, chests of drawers, storage areas, or bins, and weed out those old unused items that are just collecting dust over the years. Clean your stove and refrigerator with a good cleanser. Have your carpet steam and your drapes cleaned, and your upholstery cleaned by professionals. Make sure you put fresh furnace filters in your furnace once a month and a new humidifier filter in your humidifier.

Tree Care

Now is an excellent time to trim your trees or remove dead ones from your property. Trees need to be cut and maintained to prevent them from getting a disease that could kill the entire tree. It would be best if you constantly trimmed fruit trees after they are done producing fruit and never cut off too many branches in a year, as you could kill the fruit tree. Cut and trim maple trees when the weather is cold, and the sap will not run out when trimmed, as you could kill the tree.

Pet Care

Have your pet’s living area all cleaned up. Ensure that heated beds, heaters, and water dishes are clean and in prime working order. Wash the floors, bedding, words, and litter boxes. Take your cats to the Vet for distemper and rabies shots if they have not had them yet this year. You want your pets to be healthy enough to survive the cold winter weather. I hope you and your pets have a fantastic fall and winter.

Dangers In Fall Cleaning

Dangers In Fall Cleaning

Chemicals And Household Cleansers

Be careful disposing of old oil and anti-freeze. It only takes one Tablespoon of anti-freeze to kill a beloved pet cat that belongs to someone. Dispose of chemicals in jugs in a proper disposing area so a small child or pets will not be destroyed by ingesting them. Use common sense and diligence when disposing of anything that may hurt, harm, or kill someone or something. Take old batteries to a dealer of batteries, and they can dispose of them properly. Never try to burn old, worn, out pads as they will explode and cause serious harm to someone. Take your old laptop to a computer store that recycles them. Anything that you can recycle helps save the environment from harmful toxins. Habitat for Humanity will take your old paint, household tools, and useable building supplies to resale, and it will help out those less fortunate in your area. Be careful cleaning up old metal; you may get cut on it and have tetanus shots, stitches, or more. Ensure your chains are sharp and tight enough on your chainsaws and that your teeth are not worn down so much that the chain may snap and break in two while cutting up a log. A broken chain can fly at your arm and cut you severely, and you will have to go to your Doctor for stitches, shots, a maybe hospitalization. Wear the proper gear when working with tools to avoid harm.

Garden Cleanup

Keep your feet entirely out of the tines on your rototiller. When lifting your tiller, take it out of the time position and put it forward so you don’t get a foot under the tiller tines by accident. Be careful trimming sharp raspberry branches back, as you can get splinters from the components and possibly trip over them after you have cut them off. You can make a compost pile or burn up the spent garden plants. Be careful applying garden fertilizer as you do not want to get any on the family pet that may have accompanied you out to the garden. If you get something on a pet, clean up the pet ASAP with a shampoo or cleaner approved by your Vet.

Repair Before Winter Set In

Be very careful cleaning out your leaf gutters, as many people have suffered from broken limbs or have died from falling off the ladder. It is best to hire this if you are over 50 years old. I had leaf guards installed on the home’s gutters, and I am happy I did. Never stand on a table to reach something high; you will get off-center and end up with a broken bone. Never use a rung ladder as you grow older, as it is hard to move and fall off. I use a step ladder only, and I feel safe on it. I hire anything that needs to be done higher than my step ladder. Clean up any scraped paint and dispose of it properly so a small child will not eat it and end up with lead poisoning. Be careful cleaning and polishing your vehicles, as it might be slippery when you try to wax the roof of your pickup. Use due diligence and common sense, which should help with any dangers of fall cleanup.

Dependability

Dependability

Things You Can Depend On

We can always depend on God to be there through thick and thin. We can rely on good friends to help us when we need them the most. Everything has a beginning and an end. If you have a favorite mechanic, you can depend on him to fix your car so that it will run smoothly as silk. I have an excellent roofing company that I have grown to rely on for all of my roofing repairs. I have had the same carpenter for 24 years, he is perfect, and everything gets repaired promptly. I have an old GE refrigerator from 1952 that keeps the food as cold as the day it was brand new. It has outlasted four new refrigerators that I purchased for my home. I have an old General Mills toaster that toasts my bread to perfection, made in 1949. I have old blenders, coffee makers, mixers, and other small appliances that have kept the test of time.

Dependability Is Hard To Come By Today

I had an old stove that lasted 16 years before the Motherboard went terribly. When I purchased my new stove, they told me I would be lucky if it lasted eight years and cost twice as much as my old stove. New Hybrid cars will need new batteries in 7 to 10 years, and those batteries are $7000.00. So many things have a Motherboard in them, and when it stops working, it costs about half of what you paid for the item to replace it. When the Motherboard went on my washing machine, which was six years old, I purchased a new one. Old washing machines would last 20 years, and clothes dryers would last 30 years. Sadly, those days are way behind us. We live in a throwaway society today, which is very sad as we are filling up our landfills quickly. We should build things to last once again and get dependability back in the picture. Replacement parts are made with more and more plastic, and you need another replacement part soon. Stihl power tools are built to last.

Trying To Hire Someone And Get Them To Show Up And Complete Your Job At Hand

I have tried calling people repeatedly to do something for me. Most of them do not answer their phones, so I leave a message for them to get back to me. One man said he would come to my house on a particular day and time but never did. My time is as valuable as theirs, and I do not care to wait for anyone all day. I am persistent up to a point, and then I will call someone else to complete the job. Some repairmen come with no parts even if you tell them what you need so they can add on an extra trip charge. I refused to pay them for the extra trip since they did not bring the part with them, to begin with. Finding dependable people to start and finish the job to your satisfaction is very difficult. People you hire should put themselves in your place and do the work they want to do in their homes. Sometimes I repair work myself since I cannot get people to keep their appts. Good luck with all of your repair work. Ask your neighbors, friends, and others for dependable workers to get your jobs done to your satisfaction.
