Live A Life That Helps Others

Live A Life That Helps Others

Helping Others In Need Is A Good Feeling

Jesus helped many people in his lifetime. He laid his hands on people and cured them of horrible diseases that had plagued them for years. Jesus defended people who were unjustly accused of things that they never did. When you help someone in pain by talking to them and bringing them to a doctor’s appointment, they are very thankful. Life does come around full circle, as you once took care of your children, they now take care of you. Some people may need someone to bring them food from time to time, especially if they cannot drive anymore. I like visiting with older people and helping them feel uplifted. If no one ever helped others out, we would all be in a horrible predicament.

Helping Hands That Help Many

We have many organizations that help others, such as food banks, the Salvation Army, and second-hand clothing stores. When many hands work together, much will be accomplished. Churches have many mission projects that provide desperately needed supplies to foreign countries and poor areas.

Helping Animals

We have dominion over the animals on earth, and it is our responsibility to ensure they are not suffering unfairly. If you adopt a cat, dog, or livestock, make sure they have fresh bedding and are warm and toasty in the winter months. Animals need regular vet checkups.

Parents

Parents try to make sure their children have a better life than they did. They encourage their children in life by answering their questions and calming their fears. Parents are constant cheerleaders for their children. My parents were very loving, kind, and protective of me. Parents should never scream at their children. I noticed a parent one day screaming at their child, and the poor child started crying because she had done nothing wrong except ask her parents if they could buy that particular toy for her Christmas present. I was very blessed to have my parents, as they explained things in great detail and truly loved me with all their heart and soul.

People Who Try To Take Advantage Of Others

Jesus taught us never to take advantage of anyone. Every day, someone gets scammed out of a lot of money. If they put that energy into working for their money, we would be much better off. They prey on the old with scare tactics and harass you. God has no time for people who do the devil’s work to get their money.

Friends Helping Friends

I have been blessed to have many wonderful and loving friends over the years that I have helped, and they have helped me. Without these wonderful friends, I would be lost. I love late-night talks with friends and going out to eat with them, and seeing how their day went. True friends are like a bouquet of beautiful flowers that last forever. Never take a friend for granted; worship them, maintain your friendship, and you and your friends will grow old together, and the bond of friendship will last forever.

Have A Mission In Life

Have A Mission In Life

What Is Your Mission In Life?

I hope you have missions that will enrich your life and the lives of others. We need to have many missions in our lives. One could leave Earth a better place for you having been here. We should do things that help others. You could leave a scholarship to a student who cannot afford to go to college. The student you help could have a huge impact on the world someday. Pray with people who need help. The person may have constant pain or be praying for a family member to get better. All of us need people to pray for us and uplift us in turbulent times, and do not forget to pray when you have smooth sailing. God should be your constant friend and companion, not a rainy-day friend. Perhaps you love animals, so do your best to give them a loving, caring home with everything they need so they can flourish and live their best life with your loving care.

We Should Make It A Goal To Learn Something New Every Day

We are never too old to learn something new. Lifelong learning enhances your mind, and it may save someone else’s life down the road. I took a CPR class, now I would be able to save someone who had a heartattack. It is a good idea to brush up on skills from time to time. I refinished some furniture about 8  years ago, and  I had not done that for years. I loved the results, as I had learned more techniques over the years by watching and observing others and by reading books on refinishing furniture. No one ever gets too old to learn, and many retired people have become famous as authors, and more.

Challenge Yourself Now And Then

If we do not challenge ourselves now and then, we become stale and moldy like an old slice of bread. I like playing old harmonicas, and I picked them up again after I retired. I play for people in rest homes and assisted living units. The people look forward to my coming, and I enjoy it. If you ride a bicycle, challenge yourself to pedal a little farther every day, and you will be pleased with the results. You will have more stamina and have lost weight. Always be the little engine that says, “I think I can, I think I can,” instead of saying, “I know I cannot do that without even trying.”

Encourage Young People

Some young people need a little encouragement. Things can get challenging and overwhelming for them with all their studies and friends pulling them in one direction, while others pull them in the wrong direction in life. Help young people get their priorities in order. Have young people pray to God for help in their lives when it seems the tide is rising against them. God can calm the roughest of seas in our lives, and we will eventually see blue skies ahead. God bless all in their life.

Dash Around

Dash Around

We Tend To Dash Around

We live in a hustle and bustle world where people dash around. We have many things on our minds and try to accomplish them in one day. We run from store to store, trying to find that perfect gift for someone. We may spend hours shopping online for that black Friday special. We have too many obligations and try to juggle everything as best as possible, which tends to catch up with us eventually. After all, Rome was not built in one day.

Dashing Around With Family

Family members tire of dashing around, and young ones may start crying. Parents get mad and cranky after a shopping trip, especially if no one seems to get what they were after. The women will want to shop around for clothes, and the men will want to go to the hardware store for a tool that is finally on sale that they have wanted to add to their tool collection for years. Kids want to go to a toy store, and the older family members want to sit down and relax after a full day of dashing from store to store.

Too Many Things On Your To-Do List

Holiday cooking and baking. Make some of your items ahead of time, such as cookies and other things that you could freeze and unthaw later on. Decorating the tree, inviting guests and family over for holiday gatherings, sending out Christmas cards, wrapping up or mailing gifts, and so much more can wear you out quickly. Make realistic plans for holiday gatherings. Buy plenty of appetizers, have family games on hand, and watch holiday parades and sports on TV. Put those cell phones out of sight and visit. Don’t be rude and text back and forth at any family gatherings. Visit with family members around the Christmas table and Thank God for your many blessings.

Dashing Back And Forth With School Activities

Attend your children’s plays, sporting events, speeches, and more. Your children will be grateful that you attended all of their events. Always make time for your kids. Kids grow up quickly, and they will remember that you cheered them on at all their achievements during their school years.

Always Make Time For God In Your Life

Do not dah around on Sunday. Sunday is the Lord’s day, so give your entire day to the Lord, and thank him for blessing you on each day of your life journey. Remember, Christ is the reason for the Christmas season. Christmas is not about gifts. Christmas is about the Lord Jesus’ birth in a lowly manger with no crib for a bed. Without Christ, you would not be forgiven for your sins. Your life would be pointless without Jesus in it. Don’t dash around after something that you may lose track of what Christmas means and what it stands for. Thank you, Lord Jesus, for your many blessings in my life.

Random Acts of Kindness

Random Acts Of Kindness

Help Someone In Need

If someone is hungry, buy a meal for them. Offer to take them to a restaurant where you eat and let them order whatever they want within reason. If you see someone who could use clothing, give them some new clothing you have not worn because you lost or gained weight. Put some new socks or T-shirts in your vehicle and hand them out to people who seem down on their luck. I went to a bakery once, and I gave the tenth person who came in some money, and I told them it was a gift from God and my church. I have given strangers in a park money, and I told them it was from my church and God. Helping people makes you happy, and it makes them happy too. In traveling, I gave people the candy I had just purchased as they had not eaten all day, and they said God bless you. Put a smile on someone’s face today who needs something extra special. Never give a gift to someone you do not like, as they will not appreciate receiving it either. Treat everyone as God treats them, and then you cannot go wrong. In the winter, give coats, hats, gloves, and mittens to the mission drive that will help keep people warm in winter’s long, cold days.

Cleaning And Household Supplies

If someone has a fire or has lost everything in some disaster, they will need everything, for they have lost everything. Cleaning supplies are necessary to clean up after floods and sanitize things. People will need good used bedding, towels, furniture, TVs, small appliances, large appliances, desks, books, cell phones, bedroom furniture, couches, chairs, pots and pans, and more. Most of us have extra things that we can donate to people who have suffered from disasters. Give good used coffee makers, blenders, food processors, vacuum cleaners, and more. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes and think, how would I feel if I lost everything overnight? You would pray that God would send the right person at the right time to help you return to normalcy.

Lend A Hand

I like some new volunteer programs where teenagers help older adults mow, shovel, and paint their homes. The teenagers who can drive will pick up and deliver groceries to them. Some will help them cook at least one good meal a day and help them take their medicine. Older people in my area pay $25.00 an hour for help from cleaning people. They cannot afford the $25.00 an hour as they only made $1.25 an hour when they started working, and the most they got paid yearly just before their retirement was $22,000.00 a year. Some have to pay for their medicine or food as they cannot afford both. Nursing Homes Are pricy at $9000.00 for only one month of care. Those figures don’t work when your top pay was $22,000.00 a year. Seniors need all the volunteers they can get as the cost of living has gone through the roof for them and others. Remember, you will be old much quicker than you think.

Thunderstorms In Your Life

Thunderstorms In Your Life

Natures Thunderstorms

A thunderstorm warning can be scary. One never knows when a thunderstorm could become dangerous. Some thunderstorms are packed with lightning and large hail that can damage buildings, cars, trees, roofs, and more. We try to stay indoors and take every precaution to remain safe and sound. Many thunderstorms produce high winds and a rapid downpour of rain, which could cause flooding in your area. Some thunderstorms turn into tornadoes that can destroy an entire town in minutes. Thunderstorms are worrisome, but most of the time, the outcome seems to be good.

Health Thunderstorms

We can be going along fine in life, and suddenly a violent and vicious health thunderstorm comes up. You may be diagnosed with a severe illness that will need treatment for the rest of your life. You may have to have a limb removed because you have diabetes. Your child may have serious health issues he must endure his entire life. You may be diagnosed with cancer which scares anyone that receives the news from their Doctor that you have cancer. We are always in fear of unknown storms popping up in our lives. Even if you try to prepare yourself, you cannot. God is with us 24 seven when we have health storms in our lives, as he is our constant advocate.

Health Storms Of Loved Ones

When your parents have health storms, you worry about their well-being. You become an advocate for your parents when they can no longer be an advocate for themselves anymore. You make sure they get the best of Doctors and care. You ensure they are treated fairly and adequately to the best of your ability. Your parents took extra good care of you over the years, and now you must ensure they are taken care of by the best Doctors and Nurses available. When your child is deathly ill, you care for them 24 seven. You take them to the ER in the middle of the night and do everything humanly possible to save their life. You stay by their side, comfort them, tell them you love them, and pray to God without ceasing to help your child get well. When your spouse is ill, you do everything you can to get them back onto the road of recovery. A loving couple that loses their spouse feels devastated, lonely, and in a state of shock. Friends and family should help comfort the grieving spouse. The couple may have been married for 50 years when one dies. In a loving marriage, they feel utterly helpless with their other half is not on their side anymore due to death. When friends and family get sick, you pray that God will heal them quickly. I pray for all of those that I know have ongoing health concerns. It is terrifying for all of us when someone we love and hold dearly in our hearts struggles with health issues daily. God is by your side 24 seven in all of life’s thunderstorms.
