Cleaning Their Litter Boxes
I take my litter boxes out to a hydrant, add dish soap, and use a brush to scrub the soap around in the litter box. I use a new toilet bowl cleaning brush for this procedure because it works very well at cleaning every nook and cranny. I then rinse them off several times and let them dry out in the sun. I then dry off any moisture with paper towels and refill them with fresh water. For quick cleanups, I use a special spray from Litter-Robot.
Keeping Their Tile Floors Clean
I use a mop and bucket, and I put laundry soap and a hospital disinfectant in the bucket. I move things out of the way until I have scrubbed all of the floors in the house. I also have an electric steamer for cleaning floors. The steamer comes with a variety of cleaning pads, and it does an excellent job. I use Lysol Spray Professional on the floor to clean up hairball or vomit messes between mopping or steam cleaning.
Carpet Cleaning
Use Zep to clean spots on your carpet between shampoos.
For Cleaning Furniture
I use Zep or a Miracle Made spray on the furniture until I get the vomit stain off. Test a small area under your furniture first to make sure the material is colorfast. I use paper towels and keep replacing them until the chair looks like new again.
Waterless Shampoo For Cleaning Your Cat
All of my cats prefer a waterless shampoo to an actual bath. Cats remain calmer with a waterless shampoo, and it works well. My last bottle smelled like a pine tree, and my cats loved the scent. I rub it on them with paper towels and make sure they are in a warm area so they dry off quickly. I dry them off as best I can with towels.
Eye, Ear, Toothpaste, and More
It is a good idea to keep cat toothpaste and toothbrushes on hand, so your cats can have clean, healthy teeth. Some cats will tolerate tooth brushing, and others will not. For my cats that will not tolerate it, I have my Vet clean their teeth. I keep eye drops on hand and ear cleaner with long swabs for getting into your cat’s ears. I also keep a powered wound treatment and gauze on hand in case of a horrible occurrence.
Cleaning Bedding And Pet Furniture
I have a washing machine that is used only for cleaning my cats’ bedding. I use Tide, fabric softener, and an odor disinfectant. I spray Zep on my pet furniture and cat towers as soon as I see a mess, which is almost always a hairball or a small amount of food that did not agree with them, such as a new cat treat or what I thought would be a good wet food. I stick with the same brand now, and they get along well with it.
Cat-Friendly Cleaning Supplies
Before buying any cleaning supply, make sure it is safe for use around pets. No one would want to injure or harm their cat by using the wrong cleaning product. Keep your home clean so you and your pet will remain happy and healthy.
