The True Meaning Of Christmas

The true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Christ. He was born to save us from our sins. He is our great redeemer. He was born in a lowly manger, as his parents were told there was no room in the inn. The animals in the manger gathered near him. The three wise men came bearing gifts to celebrate his birth. The stars in the sky were brightly shining, which helped lead the wise man to his place of birth in Bethlehem.

Christmas Stands For The Birth Of Christ

Christmas stands for the birth of Christ, as the first part of the word Christmas is Christ. We should always say Merry Christmas and not Happy Holidays. When we take Christ out of the equation, we have lost the true meaning of Christmas. We are so afraid of offending people anymore that many say Happy Holidays. We are much better off just saying Merry Christmas because that is what we want to say to celebrate the birth of our savior Christ the Lord.

Christmas is not about exchanging gifts and cyber Monday or sales. Surround yourself with family and friends that celebrate Christmas the way you know it should be celebrated. Go to a Christmas eve service at church and surround yourself with your church family in celebrating the birth of Christ. It is lovely to see your church full of people on Christmas Eve celebrating the birth of Christ our Savior. We sing praises to God.

Micah 5: 2

But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings-on have been from old, from everlasting.

Luke 2: 9 – 17

And lo, the angel of the Lord, came unto them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day in the city of David a Savior, Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known to us. And they came hurriedly and found Mary, Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
