Cats Form Long-Lasting Friendships With Other Animals
I had one cat that slept with an opposum for at least one year. The opossum would lick her fur, and he ended up giving her a Mohawk. Thank goodness he waited until summer to provide her with the Mohawk. I had a purebred Siamese cat that grew up with a parakeet. We ended up getting a parakeet, and she became best friends with Perry Como, whom we named. She would lie on the bed and listen to him sing for hours. Perry seemed to be comfortable around her.
A Cat, A Goat, And A Dog
We started with a small dog, and then a gray-striped kitten was born where we live. She had kittens later on, and they all shared the doghouse. We then purchased a baby goat. He grew up with two kittens in the building where we housed him. He liked cats. The kittens grew up quickly, lured our pet goat into the cornfield, and left him there. We drove around in our pickup calling out our goat’s name, and he showed up right away, luckily. Later on, our striped cat, dog, and goat would go out hunting together. The cat and the dog looked for mice or other rodents, and the goat for ears of corn that the combine left behind. They had many adventures over the years. Our goat would leap onto our windowsill and watch us eat in our kitchen. He grew quickly and could not do that for long. Our dog and goat would have races up and down the ramp attached to our house. They were a trio that remained friends forever.
Cats That Have Cat Friends
I have three cats in my household, and one died not long ago. My other seemed to know that he had passed, and they grieved his passing just as a person grieves the passing of a loved one. They slept more and wanted to eat less. They would look at the chair where he used to sleep. After about two weeks, they seemed able to accept his passing.
Cat Brother’s
I Have Three Cat brothers. They will band together if they feel threatened or frightened of a situation that may develop. They seem to know there is power in numbers. I also had three outdoor cat brothers years ago. One large, menacing Tom came on a day with many battle scars. My three Tom’s walked toward him as if to say, “Do you want to mess with all three of us?” The big, menacing Tom ran for his life.
Cats Form Long-Lasting Relationships With Us
When a family member dies in your home, your cat will mourn their passing. When my Mother died, she would sit on the edge of the bathtub and wail and yowl for at least 30 minutes a day for one month after her passing. I read about a cat that would visit the cemetery every day and lie on the grave of his former owner.
