My cats occasionally love to climb on top of furniture, ladders, and roofs. My outdoor cat Trisha climbed on top of the barn roof. I was frantic, thinking she would fall off the barn roof to her death. My Father told me when she was good and ready, she would climb down on her own and be perfectly fine, and she did climb off the barn roof when she finally felt like it.
Garfunkel and Conrad love to sleep on my Grandfather’s clock at least once daily. My cats love to climb on top of the windowsills in my house. Their favorite is my picture window, where they can watch birds eat out of my bird feeders. Their back claws are rather complex on my picture windowsill. I will have to have the windowsill refinished someday. I know some cats love to climb up drapes. Luckily none of the cats that I have had have ever tried that.
I have had barn cats climb the hay ladder to have their kittens up in the hay and mow in the lovely fresh grass. My cats love to climb up a ladder that I am on to get a better view of what I am doing up on the ladder.
Cats love climbing on top of friendly, warm car engines and tires. I always check under my car’s tires, so I will not run over a cat that may be sitting on the tires. I also honk the horn on my car, hoping that that will scare them and they will run off to safety.
Cats love to climb up trees after birds and escape a cat fight or a dog chasing after them. My cousin had a dog that chased his cat up the electric pole. His poor cat stayed up there most of the day until she finally thought it was safe to come down.
Cats are curious creatures indeed and excellent climbers.
