Plastic Food, Water Dishes, And Litter Boxes
Plastic pet dishes can get deep scratches from use and harbor lots of bacteria over time, which is unhealthy for your cat. The plastic also breaks down and releases chemicals from the plastic, which can wreak havoc on your cat’s digestion and memory over time. Plastic litter boxes should be replaced when you see lots of marks in the plastic, as they could cause parasites in your cat’s digestive system because you cannot clean them thoroughly anymore.
Try To Buy Stainless Steel Pet Dishes And Litter Boxes Which Clean Up Well
I try to have stainless steel or ceramic pet bowls and clean my litter boxes with dish soap and a scrub brush. I just noticed a new stainless steel litter box advertised on Facebook yesterday, and I intend to research it more and most likely buy one.
Cat Toys
Cat toys need to be replaced if they get torn up or start falling apart. If it is one of your cat’s favorite toys, try to buy another one like it before you destroy the old one. Some cats will keep looking for the old one. I put the new cat toy and the old one side by side, and after my cat starts playing with the new one constantly, I get rid of the worn-out one. Cats need sanitary toys to play with since they chew on them, and if the toy harbors germs, your dear pet cat will get sick. Ensure all of your cat toys are large enough so your cat does not choke on them by swallowing them.
Cat Hammocks And Beds
Vacuum your cat’s beds, hammocks, and spot-clean areas with a pet cleaning solution if your cat scarfs up a hairball or has an accident on them. I have good luck with a pet cleaner for stains and odor removal. If a hammock gets holes in it, replace it with a new one. Ensure your heated cat beds still have a working heating pad; if not, order a new bed when they are on sale in the summer months. Cardboard boxes and towels make good cat beds for the summer months. Wash the towels regularly, and then eventually replace them with new ones.
Cat Litter
I like lightweight and natural cat litter made of walnut hulls, ground-up newspaper, or pine tree wood. I also like Tidy Cat litter and Arm and Hammer litter. I purchased one made of corn, and my cats did not like that one. Never put out a new brand of litter without having some of their tried and approved litter out, as they may not use the new one, and you will have a big mess to clean up. Always sweep up any litter outside the litterbox; this will help prevent fleas, as they like dirty cat litter and litterboxes that are not kept up to snuff. Ensure you keep all your pet supplies sanitary and clean, and throw out worn-out ones. I hope you have a happy and healthy cat for many years.
