Keep Your Cats Items Extra Clean

Food And Water Dishes

Scrub and wash out your cat’s food and water bowls. Being stuck on food can attract bugs and diseases. Your cat does not want to drink water from a dirty dish. Clean up next to food dishes, as some might have landed on the floor.

Towels And Bedding

Sometimes, your cat may throw up on his bedding or towels, which should be washed in hot water with plenty of detergents to prevent germs. When their beds get a lot of cat hair, I vacuum them out. Dirty towels will also attract bugs that may bite your cat. Clean up their hammocks and any place where they take catnaps.

Groom Your Cats

By grooming your cats regularly, they will feel better and look better. Their bedding and towels will not have hair all over them. I use a regular cat comb, brush, and grooming glove and rub the fur off by hand. Your cat will most likely purr away while you are grooming them. Regular grooming helps prevent fleas, and not letting your cats outdoors walk in long grass or areas wild animals might have walked through. Deer ticks can be in the long grass.

Litter Boxes

Keep your litter boxes clean. Throw out your old litter when it looks terrible and replace it with all-new litter. Scrub them with hot water and plenty of soap, or replace them with new ones. Automatic litter boxes have to be disassembled and scrubbed up. The sensors can stop working if you do not keep them clean. Remember to put new plastic liners in your automatic litter boxes. Dirty litter boxes will make a perfect breeding ground for fleas. Clean up the floor area where your litter boxes sit. Dirty litter on the floor is ideal for fleas to multiply quickly.

Cat Toys And Treat Dispensers

If your cat’s toys get dirty and are washable, wash them in hot water with soap. When toys get worn and look awful, dispose of them and buy new ones. Washing a catnip toy will ruin the smell of the catnip, and it may get moldy. Most treat dispensers are plastic, so I wash them with hot water and soap.

Clean Your Cat Equipment

Clean cat combs, brushes, food storage containers, litter box tools, and anything you use on or by your cat. Clean up cat carry containers.

Clean Up Your Cats Living Area

Dust and vacuum regularly. Vacuum your drapes, clean under your furniture, scrub your floors, and keep your carpet and rugs clean. I vacuum my furniture. You and your cats should be allergy-free by keeping your home extra clean. I have an air purifier in my home and run a dehumidifier in my basement and next door. Put new filters in your furnace every month, as that will reduce dust. Clean the filters on your dehumidifiers, as they will get cat hair on them. You and your cat will share a lovely, clean home.

Cats Love Warm Places

Warm Areas Inside Of Your Home

I often find Cali sleeping in her bed next to the heat register after I am up and about in the morning. Garfunkel loves to take a cat nap on my lap, along with Conrad and Cali. Garfunkel sleeps in his cozy Pat Baw Bed, and Cali sleeps in hers also at night. Pat Baw Beds are pet beds that your cat will use forever. My cat’s next door have a heated house, heated cat beds, and boxes with towels. They are nice and cozy in whatever bed they choose to sleep in. I have one heated cat bed in my house that Conrad occasionally uses. My cats also like to sleep on high sleeves to get a bird’s eye view of everything happening. I have cat towers next to windows next door so my cats can watch any animals that might walk along and birds. My house cats like to nap next to the picture window to watch the birds eating out of the bird feeders.

Outdoor Cats

My outdoor cats used to sleep in our barn in the hay. They also had a big trunk with a hole in one end full of hay, and most would exit that trunk in the morning. I also had an old chicken nest stuffed with new straw. My cats had a cat building later that had an outdoor heated cat building and heated mats to sleep on, along with a heated water dish. I also had a heat lamp dangling from a string above the chicken nest filled with straw. I had one outdoor cat that slept with our dog at night along with her kittens. They would go on hunting adventures together, and they were the best of friends. Make sure your cat has a draft-free area to sleep in.

My Cats Next Door

I have a Mother and daughter that share a heated cat bed. I found Lizzie and Tammy sleeping in a heated cat bed side by side last night. Sherlock sleeps in a cat bed I have inside a kitchen cupboard next door. Faith loves her heated windowsill cat beds the best. I find my three cat brothers sharing a bed or curled up with their father, aunt, or mother. My 11 cats next door have sleeping arrangements down pat with no disagreements.

Cats In Your Bed

Cats will sleep under your covers at night if it is a bone-shilling night. After they are under your sheets for a while, their head will pop out, and they will sleep above your head to lie up tight against you. Cats love to share a bed with another warm mammal. On one frigid night, I had a three-cat night instead of a three-dog night. One cat was at my side, one above my head, and one at my feet. If your cat fidgets at night, you may not want to share your bed with your cat as you will be robbed of valuable sleep. Sharing your bed with your cat is not a good idea if you have allergies. I hope you and your cat our nice and cozy on frigid nights.

Spring Cleaning

Bedroom Spring Cleaning

I remove all the dresser scarves and wash or shake them out outdoors. I remove items from the room and place them in the hallway. I use a wood floor polish wax that makes the floor glisten. I give everything a thorough dusting. I remove everything from the closet floor and sleeves to clean the closet well. I wash the bedding and shake out the pillows or wash them. I constantly scour the light fixtures and put new batteries in the smoke alarms. I pass the cloth drapes and hang them wet to dry on their curtain roads. Getting rid of unworn clothes in the closet or the chest of drawers is a good idea. I like to put new shelf paper in the trunk of drawers.

Bathroom Spring Cleaning

I remove everything from the medicine cabinet and throw away expired medicines or ointments. I have another cupboard in my bathroom that gets dusted after I remove the things. I clean the fixtures every week with my regular cleaning. It is a good idea to clean up the shower if you have one. You can soak your shower head in vinegar and remove some of the lime.

Kitchen Spring Cleaning

Clean off your Formica countertop with a bleach solution. Take everything out of your cupboards and wipe out the cabinets. You should put new shelf paper in your cabinets. Get rid of unused pots, pans, dishes, glasses, and kitchen utensils. Etc. Dust under the stove and refrigerator. Clean all of the sleeves in your refrigerator and throw out old containers. Wash your potholders or buy new ones. I put new bulbs in my light fixture. Now is an excellent time to put new batteries in your smoke alarm or replace it.

Living Room Spring Cleaning

I vacuum under all of the furniture, and I vacuum next to the wood surround. I clean all the tables and shake out the dresser scarves. I take things out of wood cabinets and dust, replace them, and throw out something I have not looked at for ages. I remove my books from the bookcase and dust the books off on top. Anything with glass in it gets cleaned with glass cleaner. I vacuum off my drapes, or I take them to the cleaners.

Dining Room

I have a corner cabinet that has a few things in it. I wash off the items in a dishpan filled with water that I bring into the dining room. I remove all the figurines from my whatnot shelf and clean the glass pieces with Windex window cleaner. The carpet gets a good vacuuming, and so do the drapes. I use lemon oil on all of my wood furniture as it preserves the wood and makes it shine.

Basement

I wash the cement floor in my basement with Lysol cleaner. I remove everything from shelves, and they get dusted or washed off. I unplug my freezer and give it a good defrosting. I store the food in several coolers. I clean out my washing machine with a lemon scent cleaner that you throw into your washing machine on its regular cycle. I purchased a dryer vent brush that works beautifully for cleaning out your dryer vents. I ensure I have new batteries in my smoke and carbon monoxide detector. I clean out my canned food cupboard and any other cabinets or cupboards.

Closets And Windows

I remove the towels from my linen closet and remove the worn ones. I clean my coat closet and remove old coats I no longer wear. I have a wardrobe just for blankets, and I have them in plastic containers to keep them in the best condition possible. My windows open easily, and I can wash out the bottom section of the window and clean the inside and outside of my windows with any cleaner.

Garage Spring Cleaning

I sweep out all the filth that gathers on the garage floor during winter. I remove everything from the floor and use a large shop vacuum, which does an excellent job. I have also used a mop and soapy water on my garage floor. Make sure you lubricate your garage doors or hire someone to do it for you so they will be in tip-top shape. My house smells incredible after its spring cleaning, and I feel a great sense of accomplishment. Happy Spring Cleaning!

I take everything out of my kitchen cupboards, wash them off, and remove the items I have not used for an extended time. I wipe out my closets and put new shelf paper on the sleeves. Get rid of any expired food items you may find stashed away. I clean my refrigerator, wash all the sleeves off, and clean up the crispers. I run a brush across the wires under the fridge or on the back as it will run more efficiently then and last much longer. I run vinegar water through the coffee maker, making it work like brand new again. I put a cleaner package in my washing machine that cleans out any debris that may be stuck in the tub. I run a dryer vent brush through the tubing to prevent dryer fires. The oven gets cleaned, and I tend under it. I also tidy up the closet in the kitchen. The smoke and carbon monoxide detectors get replaced or installed new batteries. I put new batteries in my weather radio. I clean the light fixtures throughout my house. Get rid of any old paperwork that you no longer need.

I clean the carpet next to the walls and crevices with a unique carpet attachment. My drapes get royal vacuuming. Every piece of furniture gets dusted inside and outside, magazines get thrown out, and books get weeded out of my bookcases. My wooden furniture gets a treatment of lemon oil, which helps prevent the wood from drying out.

Basement

My freezers are unplugged and cleaned, and I rearrange my food in them to use the oldest frozen goods first. My appliances get waxed with car polish to prevent rust on them. Cupboards are emptied, and the new paper is put on the sleeves. I clean the cement floor in my basement right after I vacuum it. I clean up all of my cat litter boxes, food, and water dishes with dish soap. All of my windows throughout my home get cleaned with window cleaner inside and outside. I get a water hose and spray out my air conditioner unit that sets outdoors, so it is ready to go in the hot weather coming soon.

Garage

I go through my garage and get rid of things I have stored there that I no longer need. Everything is removed from my garage, and I wash my garage floor with a mop and soapy water after I have vacuumed the floor. I grease my garage doors for more straightforward operation. I check the seal on the bottom of the doors and see if it needs to be replaced.

Outdoor Buildings

I sweep the floors in my outdoor buildings and clean the windows. I inspect my buildings to see if I need to hire someone to fix boards or roofs and more. I get rid of items that may be collecting dust in the buildings. Cleanliness is next to Godliness.
