Tom Cats and Their Own Kittens

Tom Cats and Their Own Kittens

My Tom cat Peter is an excellent father. Peter loves to watch his kittens play. He lets the kittens play with his tail now and then.

I have watched Peter looking at his kittens. One day, he sat on the floor staring at his kittens as if he could not believe they were his ones. Peter will sit on a high shelf and watch his kittens play until he falls asleep. Peter will wrestle gently with his kittens. I have seen him with his paw wrapped around one of his kittens.

Hilford and Sherlock love to hide back a piece of plywood with their father, Peter. He is never mean to his kittens. Peter never growls or hits his kittens with his paws. He is a very kind and loving father. Sherlock was scratching the scratching post one morning, and Peter joined in.

If Peter thinks his kittens are not behaving correctly, he will step in the middle of their disagreements and break up any harmful interactions between his kittens. Mr. Gray likes to wrestle with his father. Peter always plays with him gently and kindly.

Peter loves to be up on a shelf or cat bed shelf or lying back on his piece of plywood. Peters’s mother was timid, and Peter took after her. Mr. Gray is very outgoing and playful. Hilford and Sherlock are very shy, like their father.

I gave Leo and Cleo away to a very loving and caring home. They were more outgoing and playful than their mother, Addy. Leo and Cleo like to sit up on something high as their father does.

Peter worships his kittens, and he watches over them every day. His kittens love to take a nap next to him. I will find them with their paws wrapped around each other in total comfort.

Should I Spay or Neuter My Cat ?

Should I Spay or Neuter My Cat ?

I spay or neuter my house cats. An unspayed female will howl and yowl when she is in season. She will do this until she is pregnant or out of season for a little while. Her cries for the male are unrelenting and very nerve-racking. She will keep you awake all night long. She may spray your furniture. She will roll around on the floor while she is in season. You will find all of this behavior very hard to tolerate.

Trying to give kittens away can be pretty challenging. Lots of time can be spent placing ads around to try to find good homes for the kittens. The kittens may get sick and create expensive vet bills. Trying to catch farm kittens to give away can take half a day or more to see them. Too many cats in one place can cause illness to spread to all of your cats very quickly.

A Tom cat that is not neutered can spray your furniture, carpet, and woodwork. This smell is significantly overpowering and complex to get rid of. The spray can penetrate the padding of your carpet. The spray can soak down the wood floors. You might half to replace your carpets and have your wood floors redone. This can add up to a lot of money quickly.

I have not noticed any changes in the female cat’s behavior after spaying. If they have had kittens at any time, they will become more aggressive and travel farther after being spayed.

I would not recommend getting outdoor Toms neutered. The unneutered Toms will fight with them to no end. I have had several outdoor male cats get run over after I fixed them.

I would spay or neuter indoor cats unless they are for breeding purposes.

I hope this helps you decide to spay or neuter your cat.

Why You Should Adopt a Black Cat

Why You Should Adopt a Black Cat

I have had many black cats over the years. They act the same as any other cat of a different color. Most shelters say their black cats are the last ones to be adopted.

I have had at least 12 outdoor cats that were black. They would follow me around the farm and wait by the mailbox until the school bus picked me up in the morning. They were very affectionate and loving cats. My black outdoor cats have been relatively healthy. They have been very curious. They like to rest on a high shelf and watch you from their vantage point.

I now have two black house cats. Kohl was born and raised on my farm. He became my house cat when he was a tiny kitten. He loves to sleep on my bed at night or lay on the floor next to my bed at night. When I watch TV, he lays on my lap in my recliner.

Conrad is about two years old. He was also born and raised on my farm. His father is a long-haired black Tomcat who lived on my farm. Conrad is part Himalayan and domestic short hair. He is very long and lean. He constantly meows before he jumps in my bed at night. He has a very gentle and shy disposition. He seems to be scared of everybody except me. Kohl and Conrad love to play with catnip toys.

Sebastian was my first black house cat. Sebastian lived to be 13 years old. He died from lung cancer. He was a good lap cat. He was the King of his castle. He would not let the younger cats run over him as far as his cat hierarchy was concerned.

All of my black cats have been excellent and loving cats. They love to be scratched under the chin and patted on their head. They are and have been wonderful companions.

Black cats have always been lucky for me. They have all been excellent and loving pets.

I hope you decide to adopt a black cat sometime in your life.

Cat Babysitters that May Surprise You

Cat Babysitters that May Surprise You

I have had mother cats watch each other’s kittens while they were out hunting. They have even taken turns nursing each other’s kittens. They were mother cats that grew up together on my farm. That is why they trusted each other in caring for their kittens.

I had a pet goat that grew up with two kittens. My goat and my cats were always good friends. They would go out hunting together. The cats would catch mice out in the field while my goat ate the leftover corn. My goat Zachary had a cat that slept in his dog house with him. He gave her a Mohawk hairstyle. He would lick away at her fur, which resulted in the Mohawk.

Jitters, a small dog I once had, would babysit my cat’s kittens while they were hunting. When Jitters would leave her dog’s house, four little kittens would follow her. She was very good to them. She gently grabbed them by the nape of their neck and placed them back in her dog house. She would keep them nice and warm in her dog house until my cat returned from her hunt.

I have nursed many sick kittens back to good health. I have bottled feed several little kittens. I had to give one of my kittens Pediasure for one month until he got well. I have confined sick cats to one room of my house, fed them exceptional food, and given them medicine until they fully recovered.

Addy, my cat that had kittens recently, does not like to have any help from my other female cats in my house. My cat Bella wanted to sleep with Addy’s kittens to help keep them warm. Addy fought with Bella. Bella lost some of her furs. Addy did not grow up with Bella. Addy did not trust what Bella’s intentions might be toward her kittens.

Russ and Lorenzo, my two neutered Toms, are excellent babysitters. Russ gently nipped one of Addy’s kittens on his leg that were trying to leave his cat’s bed. He went back to his bed. Lorenzo alerted Addy that one of her kittens may be getting into trouble. Russ and Lorenzo are always watching out for Addy’s kittens. Russ and Lorenzo are accommodating and considerate babysitters.

Your kittens may have many different types of babysitters in their lifetime.

Spring Has Sprung with Life Eternal Addy has Kittens

Spring has Sprung with Life Eternal Addy has Kittens

When I went to the other house to see all my cats, I noticed Addy had had her kittens. She had five kittens. She had two yellow-colored kittens. There are two gray and white striped kittens. She had one gray tabby kitten. She was a cat that I thought was spayed when I got her. Miracles never cease. Peter, my black and white long-haired cat, is the Father of the five kittens. He was born on my farm.

Addy was purring away as her new family was nursing her. One gray and white striped kitten had entered another heated cat bed. I moved him back with the rest of the family. My cat Russ was sticking his head out of a wild cat bed, watching Addy and her kittens. Cali did not like the attention I was giving Addy and her kittens. She walked by Addy and hissed at her and her kittens. Lorenzo looked at them in total amazement. Bella and Snowflake looked at them as they were walking by.

I have not had a dark yellow or red tabby kitten born on my farm for many years. It proves that those genes get handed down again eventually. I have not had a cream-colored kitten born on my farm for at least fifteen years. The cream-colored gene got passed down again, also. None of the kittens look like their parents. All of the kittens look like Peter’s ancestors. All the kittens are domestic short hair mixed with Siamese, Persian, and Himalayan.

I will eventually give some of Addy’s kittens to good homes. I will wait until they are at least 12 weeks old before I give them away. Her kittens are very healthy and content with their wonderful caring,g first-time Mother. I can tell that Addy dearly loves her new family.

Picking Out A Kitten

Before picking out a kitten, remember your kitten’s life span is possibly up to eighteen years or longer.

Make sure the kitten is the most outgoing one in the litter. Its eyes should be bright. The tail should be upright. The hair should look bright and shiny. It should be very alert to its surroundings. Make sure the kitten interacts well with you.

Do you want long hair or short hair for your kitten? Make sure the kitten has gone through a vet check. Do you have enough time to train your kitten? Do not bring a kitten into a house with an elderly cat. Your old cat does not want to be tormented by a young playful kitten.

Christmas has come and gone, and chances are you know someone who has received a kitten for Christmas. I have found from experience that it is good to have the following on hand when you bring home a new kitten:

  • litter box and litter scoop
  • kitten food
  • K and H heated cat bed
  • assorted kitten toys
  • water bowl
  • cat/kitten litter
  • food bowl
  • pet grooming tools (claw trimmers, brush, comb, shampoo, and toothbrush)
  • pet first aid kit
  • a book on kitten care

Check your kitten for ear mites, as it is no fun to have the kitten scratching at its ears. In case you don’t know what ear mites look like, they look like little microscopic pieces of black sand. If your kitten has ear mites, I recommend taking a cotton ball soaked in hydrogen peroxide and rubbing it around in their ears.

Make sure you have time to play with your new kitten. I like a stick with feathers for them to bat with their paw. Have plenty of bright-colored toy mice and balls to keep them out of mischief.

How are you and your new kitten adjusting to each other?
