Getting Your Cat Ready For The Fall Season

I like to clean up all of my cat food dishes and water bowls with lots of soap and water. I also clean up all of their litter boxes thoroughly. I wash all of their bedding in hot water. I make sure all of my cats shots are up to date.

I access the condition of their heated beds and replace the worn ones with new heated beds. I replace worn out boxes and towels with nice fluffy soft towels. Straw is replaced with fresh straw for my outdoor cats and their heated cat beds are plugged in as the weather gets colder outdoors.

I take my cats to my vet for their yearly exams and shots before any bad weather sets in. If any of your cats have fleas now is the time to treat them with a flea product for cats. Give your cat a bath before it gets cold so your cat will not catch their version of a cold.

I test out all of my heaters and make sure they are in perfect condition with no frayed cords or loose connections. I order my cat food and litter from Chewy.Com so I do not have to leave the house in bad weather. Chewy.Com delivers your cat food and litter right to  your door.

Clean up the buildings where your cats live with soap and water and sweep out any debris. A clean environment protects against cat diseases. Vacuum up cat fur and clean your carpets and your drapes and furniture so no one will sit on cat fur when you have company over  the holidays that will be approaching soon.

I like to give my cats more treats to eat as the weather gets colder. They appreciate canned cat food to supplement their diet anytime of year but more so as the weather gets colder. Your cat needs the extra food to maintain his body temperature as the temperature drops outdoors.

Hope you and your feline friends have a Healthy and Happy Fall.

Tips To Help Your Cat Survive The Heat This Summer

Provide your cat with plenty of fresh cold water. The water will get hot in a hurry when it is hot out and no one wants to drink hot water when it is unbearably hot outside. Find a place for your cat to sleep outside that is in a cool place with a nice gentle breeze. I check on my cats several times a day to make sure they are doing OK with the unbearable heat. Make sure you have combed out your cats old winter coat of fur as they will feel cooler without the old fur heating up their body. I have a fan running in my other house for my cats over there. Make sure you have not locked your cat in a building after performing an outdoor task such as mowing the yard. Cats are fast and love to sneak into places even when you think you are watching out for them.

Clean your cats litter box out everyday to prevent fleas. I sweep around the litter boxes everyday so there is no cat litter on the floor which helps prevent a flea infestation. I also clean out the litter boxes with dish soap and an old scrub brush before the summer season begins.

Never leave your cat in your vehicle in the summer months as in can reach 173 degrees in your vehicle in 30 minutes when it is 80 to 100 degrees outside even with the windows open. Your cat will most likely die if left in a car in the summer. Do not let your indoor cat out in the heat. Your indoor cat is use to AC and also she does not know where to go in the heat to stay cooler.

If your cat is panting, has a rapid pulse and breathing, vomiting, lethargic, and stumbling she is overheated and must be put in a cool spot ASAP. Call your vet ASAP if you notice that your cat is overheated. Your cat may stagger around as she walks or pass out which means she is critical. If in doubt about the state of your cats well being call your vet ASAP.

Hope you and your cat survive the summer heat and have a wonderful fun filled summer.

My House Cats In The Springtime

My house cats start to shed their winter coat. I brush and comb out their hair on a regular basis to eliminate hairballs and snarls in their hair. Some of my cats get a spring bath or a water less shampoo bath. Some long haired cats will have to have matted areas in their fur cut out. I like to take my cats to a vet if they have a matted fur problem since they are professionals at removing matted areas of fur on cats.

My house enjoy eating fresh catnip and watching the various varieties of birds through the picture window. My cats will chatter away at the birds they are watching as if to say you would make a delicious appetizer if I could only get out to catch you. My cats spend a big portion of their day watching and salivating over the birds they can see from the various windows in my house.

In the Spring my cats are more energetic and playful than they are in the winter months. They love to chase each other up and down the stairs. My cats play with their catnip stuffed toys more and their cat ball and mouse game. My cats now sleep on top of their Meowfia Cat Caves. My chairs are now occupied by my cats and their heated beds are abandoned for now until winter rolls around again.

Springtime is a good time to clean cat bedding and clean and sterilize water bowls and food dishes. I scrub up their litter boxes and the floor were the liter box sets. I use a floor cleaner that sanitizes and sterilizes as this will prevent fleas from the cat litter. Do not set your cat on the grass as they can get fleas this way. Put your cat in a cage on cement or in a cat tent on top of a deck. You do not want fleas in your house. You will be bitten by fleas and all of your pets will have fleas. To get rid of a flea infestation will cost a lot money and you and your pets will be very uncomfortable in between.

I hope you and your pets have a happy and healthy spring.

For farm cats replace there old straw bedding with nice fresh straw or hay if that is all that is available at the time. Clean up there food and water bowls. Check their heated cat beds for cracks or other hazards and have a replacement bed on hand for next winter. Heated cat beds are on sale in the late spring and summer months.

Clean the tile or vinyl floors or carpet in your house so hopefully you will not have to deal with fleas in your house and on your cats. I bathe some of my cats and I brush and comb out their hair on a regular basis. Change your litter often as fleas like to bred in dirty litter boxes and dirty litter that gets on your floors. Do not let your cats outdoors as they can pick up fleas from being outdoors. Fleas can cause health problems for you and your cat. If your cat gets fleas regardless of all your precautions take him to your vet to get treated ASAP. You will need to have an exterminator come to your home to get rid of your flea infestation.

Take your cats to your vet to have their teeth checked as bad teeth can cause a lot of health problems. Get all of your cats vaccinations up to date as the old saying goes an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Ask your vet about flea and heart worm medicine for cats and a shot for feline leukemia. I hope you and your cats have a wonderful and healthy Spring.

Keep Your Cats Bedding and Litter Boxes Etc. Clean to prevent the Spread of Disease

Vacuum your cats beds or wash them at regular intervals. I have towels that my cats sleep on. I put the towels in my washing machine with lots of detergent and hot water to sanitize the towels.

I scrub out their litter boxes on a regular basis. I use a dish washing soap, scrub brush, rubber gloves and lots of hot water. Take the dirty litter box outdoors and scrap everything you can off of the litter box before you clean it in your basement. I like to hose down the litter box and clean it up outdoors before I bring it in my house to complete the cleaning process. After you clean the litter box with detergent and hot water let it dry out completely before you fill it with fresh kitty litter.

If your kitty throws up a hair ball clean it up immediately.  Use a cleaner that is pet safe. I use cleaners that are only pet safe. I like Natures Miracle Cleaner it truly does work miracles. I wash the wood floor in my house with pine – sol. I finish by putting a hardwood and laminate cleaner that is pet approved on my wooden floor.

I scrub my floors in the house next door with a steam cleaner. The steam cleaner kills all the germs safely and quickly. I also run a dehumidifier  in my house in the summer months to eliminate all dampness which can cause mold and mildew which can make us and our cats sick.

I vacuum my carpets every other day. By vacuuming every other day you pick up cat hair and dandruff and any flea eggs that might be lurking in your carpet. You can eliminate a lot of allergens for you and your cat  by vacuuming on a regular basis.

Keep all of your cats grooming tools and litter box tools clean. I use dish washing soap on them also with plenty of hot water.

I hope you and your cat stay disease free.
