Where I Buy My Cats Accessories

I order my cats accessories online or I buy them at my local stores.  I do a lot of comparison shopping as I want the best quality items for a reasonable price. Compare the online prices to your local store prices. If you can shop local remember those dollars go back into your community. Online shopping is wonderful when they offer free shipping. In the cold winter months it is nice to have cat food and cat litter delivered right to your door.

I buy my cats toys from e bay, amazon, grocery stores and chewy.com. I buy my cat litter from Menards, Mills Fleet Farm and Chewy.Com. My cat food comes mainly from chewy.com and Menards. I prefer K and H heated cat beds as they tend to last a long time. My heated cat beds come from e bay and amazon.com. My cats love their Meowfia cat beds from Chewy.Com. I purchased my cat playpen from Amazon.Com.

I just purchased a wonderful plastic folding steps made by Frisco and sold by Chewy.com for my cat Kohl. Kohl has trouble jumping into my bed as he is getting older and his new steps make life a lot easier for him. Kohl also likes orthopedic cat beds that I have purchased from Aldi’s grocery store.

I have purchased flea treatment products from my veterinarian. You can purchase distemper shots for your cats at Mills Fleet farm. I take my cats to my my veterinarian for all of their shots. Do research on flea treatment products before you buy them to make sure they are effective and safe for your cat depending on size, age and their overall general health.

I purchased my metal heated water bowls from Menards as they tend to last a long time compared to plastic heated water bowls. My grooming tools were purchased at my local stores. I have purchased many litter boxes over the years. I like a litter box that sifts the litter clean as you do not waste as much cat litter that way.

I love the Litter Robot. It is more costly then some other brands but my cats and I absolutely love it. It smells nice and fresh and the dirty litter in dumped in a plastic bag in tray below the unit. The Litter Robot even has a night light in it for your cat. The Litter Robot is totally automatic all you have to do is put fresh clumping litter in and remove the bag of dirty litter and put a new bag in and your all set.

Your cat will be happy with his new accessories and his nine lives will be blessed by you caring for and loving him everyday unconditionally. God Bless you and your feline friends.

The Daily Chores Of A Cat Person

I clean out all of my cat litter boxes to start with. I fill my cats water dish with fresh water. More cat food is put in their food dishes. I give my cats a pat on the head. I fluff up their bedding and clean up any mess that might have happened in the night.

I clean up any cat mess the moment I see it. I use carpet cleaner or wood floor cleaner. I also use Clorox depending on the surface that needs cleaning. The faster you clean up a mess the easier it is to clean up as it has not set in yet. I clean up their bedding in a washing machine that I have in my basement that is for cat use only. Beds that cannot be placed in the washing machine have to be spot cleaned. I try to avoid buying cat beds that cannot be placed in a washing machine.

I like to brush or comb out the hair on my cats so they do not get matted. A combed out cat is less likely to have hairballs that they scarf up. If your cat has claws keep them trimmed up as the claw could get stuck in something they could not get free of without damaging themselves.

I sweep up any spilled cat food and throw it outdoors as many wild animals and birds can enjoy eating it. I sweep around the litter boxes twice a day and clean them out twice a day. Dirty litter boxes or floors by the litter box is a perfect breeding ground for fleas.

Check your cats teeth often as bad teeth could kill your cat in the near future. If their is a sudden change in your cats behavior or pattern keep a very close eye on them as it could turn into a medical emergency quickly. I spray Lysol on the floor by the litter boxes to kill any germs that could harbor there.

I hope you and your cat have many happy and healthy years ahead. The time you spend on the chores for your cat will lengthen his life and give you joy as you are helping your feline family member.

Summertime Dangers And Your Cat

Make sure your cat has plenty of fresh clean cold water to drink as the water will heat up quickly with high temperatures. Some people put ice cubes in their cats water bowls as its keeps the water cooler much longer. Do not put your cat out in the heat or leave them in a car as they could die very quickly with extreme heat. Signs of heat stroke in your cat include a high pulse and rapid breathing along with a red tongue and mouth. If your cat becomes overheated call your vet for directions on what to do for your cat and then take them to your VET ASAP. Your Vet will cool off your cat with cold water and ice packs and maybe an I V drip to re-hydrate your cat.  A car in direct sunlight can be 130 to 172 degrees inside of the car in only one hour.

Fleas can be in the lawn this time of year. Never set your pet carrier on the grass as your cat could pick up fleas quickly. Your cat will be itching and scratching if he picks up fleas and so will you. It will cost a lot of money for flea treatments for your cat and your home to be flea free. Give your cat flea treatment medicine to prevent fleas.

Cats shed even in your house. It is important to brush them out everyday as their fur can become mated quickly. A badly mated cat may have to be shaved. Hairballs are another worry if your cat is not groomed often enough. No one enjoys cleaning up the dreaded hairball.

Make sure your cat does not get locked in a building outdoors. Your cat will die from extreme heat and lack of water. When taking groceries out of your car make sure your cat did not sneak in the car. Do not leave your cat in a cat playpen outdoors in hot weather as he may expire quickly if the sun happens to move to the area that was nice and shady earlier.

In the dog days of summer keep your cat cool and protected from outdoor pest so your cat will have nine lives. Hope you and your cat have the best summer ever. God bless you and feline friends.

Outdoor Dangers That Could Kill Your Pet Cat

There are many coyotes in the country and in the woods that could kill or injure your cat severely. Your cat could get into poisons. Many cats get run over on the roads. A wild animal with rabies could bite your cat.

Poisons and Chemicals

If a neighbor leaves his garage door open and he has mouse poison is his garage your cat could eat it. Mouse poison will send your cat into convolutions if ingested. Your cat will bleed out and have a very painful death. Antifreeze will kill your cat as it will shut down their kidneys. Motor oil, grease, chemicals, gas, diesel fuel and certain plants are very toxic to your cat.

Plants

Cats will vomit if they eat certain plants and many Christmas plants and bushes are toxic. Ask your local nursery or plant store if the item you wish to purchase is safe for your cat to nibble on because all cats like to nibble on plants. Do not let your cat outdoors if your lawn has been sprayed for at least 24 hrs. as cats love to munch on grass.

Cars

House cats have no idea about the danger that cars pose upon them. Cats like to curl up on the warm motor of a car or sit on top of the car tires. When you start up your car always look on top of your tires if your cat is outdoors. Many cats have died by being hit by cars, and sadistic people that try to run over them.

Birds of Prey

Large birds of prey can kill your kittens or even your adult cat. I saw an Eagle take off with a kitten in his mouth and then he dropped it on the road and it was dead. Dogs have been known to kill many cats over the years.

Fleas

Fleas can be picked up by your cat outdoors along with ticks. They bite and bite your cat and treatments are expensive. You can get fleas from your cat and have to have your house treated to rid yourself from the infestation. Ear mites can be picked up outdoors also.

Keep an Eye on Your Cats

If you let your house cat out keep a constant eye on him as there are many dangers in the world that could take all of his nine lives. Watch your farm cats also. I like to take a head count of my cats everyday and if one is missing I look for them immediately.

Cat Health Problems

I adopted a cat with bad teeth. I had several of her teeth pulled over the years. She would rub and paw away at her face. I looked in her mouth and discovered she had bad teeth. The vet pulled her bad teeth out and it took her about two days to be able eat moist cat food. She was able to eat the hard cat food in about five days.

When your cat gets fleas it will scratch away at its face, body, ears, etc. I prefer the the flea treatments that you place on the nape of your cats neck. A cat can get fleas from old kitty litter that it not changed often enough or a  floor or carpet that is not kept clean. Make sure your cats bedding and litter boxes get cleaned thoroughly. Do not let your cats in and out of the house in the late spring or in the fall before a killing frost or they may bring the unwanted fleas into your home.

Make sure your cat gets distemper shots and rabies shots and more when needed. Make sure you have your cat wormed at your cats checkup also. I have a cat that was born with upper respiratory problems. I found a sinus medicine for him that seems to help. Cats can get urinary problems. If your male cat is howling in pain at the litter box get him to the vet ASAP as he will die from septic shock or kidney failure. If your cat gets worms you may see them in the litter box and your cat will be lethargic and weak and may have diarrhea also. If your cat has diarrhea try some canned cat food with pumpkin or rice. If your cat does not get over the diarrhea in two days take him to your vet ASAP as diarrhea can be very serious.

If your cat gets cut try to stop the bleeding and call your vet ASAP. When a cat gets ear mites I put some ear mite treatment in its ears and it stops shaking and scratching at its ears. If you suspect your cat has eaten or ingested something that may be poison call your vet immediately otherwise your cat could die very quickly. When a cats weight goes down quickly there is some kind of underlying cause and they should be taken to the vet. The older your cat gets he will need more rest and quiet time. I hope you and cat live 9 lives.

Springtime Chores With Having A Cat

Clean up your cats litter boxes with a mild dish soap, scrapers and brushes and have rubber gloves on while cleaning to protect yourself if you get cut accidentally. Clean food bowls, water bowls and your cats bedding. Wash the floor where the litter boxes are located to kill germs and any possible flea eggs. Shampoo your carpets and clean all of your bedding as this will get rid of pest and cat dander.

Bathing and Flea Treatments

Give your cat a bath if you wish to do so. I like to use a baby shampoo or a flea shampoo for cats. Trim your cats claws so he does not ruin your furniture or dig his claws into you by accident. Use a flea treatment on your cats especially if they are indoor and outdoor cats. The last thing you want is a flea infested house as it will cost you up to $300.00 just for the exterminator. You will need two treatments before the fleas are killed off completely.

New Cat Beds , Litter Boxes and More

The springtime is a good time to replace worn out cat beds with nice new ones. Replace old litter boxes that are gross and not worth cleaning. Replace those old worn out cat toys with nice new ones. Look over your cat food and if it is expired throw it away.

Grooming Your Cat and Needed Supplies

Groom your cat. I like a cat brush , a grooming comb and grooming gloves. My cats love to brushed and have their hair combed and any clumps of fur brushed out gently. Sometimes it is best just to cut out big clumps of hair that you cannot comb through easily. Trim your cat claws carefully and never cut into the quick of the claw as your cat could bleed profusely. If in doubt about the care of your cat consult your Veterinarian. Hope you and your cats have an awesome Spring.

Revolution for Cats that treats fleas and more from Chewy.Com

I was provided Revolution for cats to facilitate my review. All thoughts are 100 % honest and my own.

Maggie is an indoor and outdoor cat. I use Revolution on her to protect her from fleas, heartworm disease, hookworms, roundworms and ear mites.  She did get ear mites from being outdoors one time and Revolution killed the ear mites and she stopped scratching and shaking her head in only 15 to 30 minutes after I applied it according to instructions. Maggie loves her Revolution from Chewy.Com.

I love the fact that Chewy.Com now has a pet pharmacy and you can have your pets medicines and supplies delivered right to your door. You will need approval from your vet and you will need to set up a pet portal that is very easy to do on your acct. with Chewy.Com.

I have also used Revolution on my indoor and outdoor cat Cali. I did not want her to bring fleas into my house and go through everything it takes to get rid of a flea infestation in your home. You have to wash everything in hot water and be out of the house when the pest man has to spray or put  a smoke bomb in your home to kill all of the fleas.  You will need the pest man twice to kill off any flea eggs that hatched after the first treatment. All of your pets will have to be treated or they will be in great misery scratching and biting away at the fleas that could have been prevented altogether if you would have just used Revolution to begin with. You will be in misery yourself as fleas bit your legs and you will be scratching and itching  just like your feline friends. I know about flea infestations because I once had a tenant that left my house flea infested and what a nightmare that was.

A flea and pest free home is a happy home for you and your feline family. Treat your cats to an excellent spring and summer with no scratching or itching with Revolution from Chewy.Com.

Getting Your Cat Ready For The Fall Season

I like to clean up all of my cat food dishes and water bowls with lots of soap and water. I also clean up all of their litter boxes thoroughly. I wash all of their bedding in hot water. I make sure all of my cats shots are up to date.

I access the condition of their heated beds and replace the worn ones with new heated beds. I replace worn out boxes and towels with nice fluffy soft towels. Straw is replaced with fresh straw for my outdoor cats and their heated cat beds are plugged in as the weather gets colder outdoors.

I take my cats to my vet for their yearly exams and shots before any bad weather sets in. If any of your cats have fleas now is the time to treat them with a flea product for cats. Give your cat a bath before it gets cold so your cat will not catch their version of a cold.

I test out all of my heaters and make sure they are in perfect condition with no frayed cords or loose connections. I order my cat food and litter from Chewy.Com so I do not have to leave the house in bad weather. Chewy.Com delivers your cat food and litter right to  your door.

Clean up the buildings where your cats live with soap and water and sweep out any debris. A clean environment protects against cat diseases. Vacuum up cat fur and clean your carpets and your drapes and furniture so no one will sit on cat fur when you have company over  the holidays that will be approaching soon.

I like to give my cats more treats to eat as the weather gets colder. They appreciate canned cat food to supplement their diet anytime of year but more so as the weather gets colder. Your cat needs the extra food to maintain his body temperature as the temperature drops outdoors.

Hope you and your feline friends have a Healthy and Happy Fall.

Tips To Help Your Cat Survive The Heat This Summer

Provide your cat with plenty of fresh cold water. The water will get hot in a hurry when it is hot out and no one wants to drink hot water when it is unbearably hot outside. Find a place for your cat to sleep outside that is in a cool place with a nice gentle breeze. I check on my cats several times a day to make sure they are doing OK with the unbearable heat. Make sure you have combed out your cats old winter coat of fur as they will feel cooler without the old fur heating up their body. I have a fan running in my other house for my cats over there. Make sure you have not locked your cat in a building after performing an outdoor task such as mowing the yard. Cats are fast and love to sneak into places even when you think you are watching out for them.

Clean your cats litter box out everyday to prevent fleas. I sweep around the litter boxes everyday so there is no cat litter on the floor which helps prevent a flea infestation. I also clean out the litter boxes with dish soap and an old scrub brush before the summer season begins.

Never leave your cat in your vehicle in the summer months as in can reach 173 degrees in your vehicle in 30 minutes when it is 80 to 100 degrees outside even with the windows open. Your cat will most likely die if left in a car in the summer. Do not let your indoor cat out in the heat. Your indoor cat is use to AC and also she does not know where to go in the heat to stay cooler.

If your cat is panting, has a rapid pulse and breathing, vomiting, lethargic, and stumbling she is overheated and must be put in a cool spot ASAP. Call your vet ASAP if you notice that your cat is overheated. Your cat may stagger around as she walks or pass out which means she is critical. If in doubt about the state of your cats well being call your vet ASAP.

Hope you and your cat survive the summer heat and have a wonderful fun filled summer.

My House Cats In The Springtime

My house cats start to shed their winter coat. I brush and comb out their hair on a regular basis to eliminate hairballs and snarls in their hair. Some of my cats get a spring bath or a water less shampoo bath. Some long haired cats will have to have matted areas in their fur cut out. I like to take my cats to a vet if they have a matted fur problem since they are professionals at removing matted areas of fur on cats.

My house enjoy eating fresh catnip and watching the various varieties of birds through the picture window. My cats will chatter away at the birds they are watching as if to say you would make a delicious appetizer if I could only get out to catch you. My cats spend a big portion of their day watching and salivating over the birds they can see from the various windows in my house.

In the Spring my cats are more energetic and playful than they are in the winter months. They love to chase each other up and down the stairs. My cats play with their catnip stuffed toys more and their cat ball and mouse game. My cats now sleep on top of their Meowfia Cat Caves. My chairs are now occupied by my cats and their heated beds are abandoned for now until winter rolls around again.

Springtime is a good time to clean cat bedding and clean and sterilize water bowls and food dishes. I scrub up their litter boxes and the floor were the liter box sets. I use a floor cleaner that sanitizes and sterilizes as this will prevent fleas from the cat litter. Do not set your cat on the grass as they can get fleas this way. Put your cat in a cage on cement or in a cat tent on top of a deck. You do not want fleas in your house. You will be bitten by fleas and all of your pets will have fleas. To get rid of a flea infestation will cost a lot money and you and your pets will be very uncomfortable in between.

I hope you and your pets have a happy and healthy spring.
