I was bullied and mistreated by my kindergarten class. My Kindergarten teacher treated me poorly and showed me no respect whatsoever. I almost died of Histoplasmosis in Kindergarten, and I was sickly and made an easy target for others to pick on. The little girls in my kindergarten class were unrelenting in how poorly they treated me. My teacher and my classmates would laugh at me when I said something.
My female classmates laughed at and mistreated me until I entered fifth grade. My fifth-grade teacher would not tolerate that behavior in her classroom. She was the first female figure that I hadn’t known in my life that stood up for me. I was still timid and would not say much, fearing being made fun of.
It took me a long time to trust other girls or women. I considered what was in it for them and if they liked me. I remained very reserved most of my life until I joined The North Iowa Bloggers.
My neighbor and friend started The North Iowa Bloggers and invited me to join one of her meetings. Our Dear blogger friend Amy Hild always welcomed me into the room with her kind and great smile and mannerisms. Amy made me want to attend the meetings as I knew she would be there with her kind ways radiating from her. I soon realized that women could be kind and caring without expecting something in return.
When I was sick, The North Iowa Bloggers came to see me in the hospital, sent flowers and cards, and prayed for me. They are a wonderful caring, loving, and supportive group of women and men that truly and genuinely care about people.
I talk and visit with people freely and easily now. The bloggers have opened up a new and better chapter in my life. It used to be easier for me to write about things, but now I can visit freely and easily without worrying about being judged unfairly. Amy told me never to stop writing, and I never will stop. Thank You, North Iowa Bloggers, for making me into the person I always wanted to be. There is always time to make a change in your life if you let people in with like values and with God by your side.

Laura, this post took real courage to write and I am so blessed to count you as one of my North Iowa friends . I always will remember when you invited Jeni and I to come love on your kitties and you were the most wonderful hostess –serving us delicious cookies and sharing your home with us. You are a true inspiration to so many and I am so glad that there are people like you in this world. I, too, am so grateful to Sara for getting our wonderful group of North Iowa bloggers together. I love this post! I’m blessed to know you, Laura. I loved having you and Jenny over for coffee (should do that again) and i will always remember when you gave our family those great musical toys! My son also loved the yellow car you gave him. You are an awesome person and I’m so sorry you had to endure such terrible treatment as a child. God is faithful in bringing us where we need to be and faithful in healing!! I love your blog, I learn so much from it even though I don’t get to have kitties at my house – my hubby is allergic 🙁 anyway…you are loved!! God bless you.
Thank you so very much ! God Bless you and your family today and always.
